THE LIMITED POP UP STORE! OR WHY I AM SITTING IN A WINDOW STOREFRONT IN SOHO!
Meg here! Life is funny, our wonderful Jeanasina sent me an email yesterday letting me know she was under the weather and to ask me if I could cover for her. Of course I could. The only problem was I have been in NYC for the past 10 days running from meeting to meeting learning about the new Holiday gift lines. I had no time to break out something new and really spend the time that I usually do to give a product justice.
Then I got an email, a girlfriend of mine asked me if I would want to cover The new Limited Pop Up Store in Soho. I would come down and blog in the store's window and learn about the line and then of course, fab cocktail party.
So now I am like a zoo animal typing this and ignoring the people that walk by and look confused "why is that lady working in the window?" If you happen to be near 134 Spring Street then come on by and stare at me like a circus freak. Unless you're that annoying guy I'm hiding from, in that case the store's in Brooklyn.
I'll stick The Limited Pop-Up hours down below for you lucky New Yorkers that get all the cool stuff (Sorry Wisconsin-I know.) The Pop up store is temporary only around for 4 days to the public! So if you're local you'll want to shake the lead out. Another reason to get down here? Aside from my amazing window performance art-deals. In 1984 their iconic shaker-knit sweater sold for just $29.50 (reg. price is $59.50) The first 84 Forenza buyers each day that make it into the store get the same 1984 price. Not a New Yawker? Well, the good news-Online is not geographically specific so VIRTUALLY everyone can participate.
The Limited has been completely re-branded and has some super cute pieces. It's a little bit drafty being a typing mannequin so I was quick to snag the The Drapey Collar Jacket that I'm wearing in the picture. It's cute right?
So take a look at the site and let me know what you think-I know it's not makeup but Jeanasina's day is Body Beautiful so it kind of works right?
OK, now they're starting to play Gaga, I have to go shake my money makers. Sometimes it's helpful being born shameless.

Good lord, makeup AND clothes?!?? I told you, I can't spend all my money online! :) This is great, a pop up store is such a fabulous idea and I've always loved the Limited. I'll definitely be picking out some choice pieces online.
Wow I'm way to shy of a person to sit in a store window, but I bet it's fun! And the jacket is really cute!

That looks really good on you. LA is cloudy and rainy with a chance of meatballs.
Ahh! You're near my office!

I love SoHo! I wish I was in NYC right now, I'd be shopping up a storm, dropping a bundle at Ricky's!!
You make for some lovely "window dressing",LOL! Sort of a strange concept but if anyone can make it seem cool and chic,it'd be you! :)Jacket is darling on you...not a current "fan" of the Limited as I find it's a bit too trendy for the likes of me but I remember the original sweater well!!!Have fun and stay cozy in your little corner of the Big Apple! :)
how adorable! you look gorgeous & I love the live mannequin idea!!
Being the vintage collector/seller that I am, I have to tell you about the super cool 80's vintage piece I found from the Limited. Do you remember when the Limited was decked out in neon, over-sized shirts and leggings? It was the Madonna era, and I lived to go to the new store in the mall called the Limited and add to my collection of rubber bangle bracelets. Fast forward to summer 2009 and I'm at a flea market, on one of my vintage buying sprees for work. I smiled as soon as I saw it. Hanging in one of the booths was a white angora furry cropped sweater with swirling patterns of neon sequins, totally 80's! It was indeed from the Limited, circa 1984 but brand new with the original tags still attached. How much you ask, $22.50!I gave the dealer the $3 they were asking for it and walked out humming "You must be my lucky star".

Ah the 80's. I was thin and looked adorable in my jean skirt, black lace hose and gloves, oh wait, that was yesterday, LOL JK.I had a lot of fun in the 80's, the parts that I can remember. LOLMeg you're adorable. Clothes, make up, body products, it is all good and all Meg.
Okay, I must admit I did not get that this was The Limited clothing brand. I thought this was like a "here for a limited time", traveling, pop up store that went from place to place and opened... yeah. I was part of the Limited Too generation; I don't even know if they're still around. But the Limited looks like it has a nice mix of basics and more fun pieces. That jacket really is cute.
Fall fashion is here - yay!
OOh I love that jacket! Its so Cute!Just checked out their website, there is some CUTE stuff. But I vowed only to buy cloths at places I have a credit card to so I dont have to pay it now;)Lol mabey I can afford one sweater, it is getting pretty cold.Ok I was thinking where is that forweza sweater on the front page. And the one online looked tottally different. Then I realized on the front page she has the scarf add on too.Not as cute as seperates! I though it was one sweater with a HUGE collar it would be sooo coool, But i guess you at least have the option of removing the scarf.

Nice, sleek design. Just my cup of tea. Though after a disastrous post order once I'm never going to buy clothes again online.
Hey Meg,that jacket looks great on you! NY city is one of my fav. citys to visit, great food, great shopping & great fun!
Meg you look fantastic sitting in the window! I am sure many tourists and locals alike are coming down to look at you! There are some really cute clothes on that website!!
You look so cute sitting there with your computer! I recently fell in love with The Limited. I was having the hardest time finding work pants at department stores because of the fit. I'm petite so everything was fitting funky. Thankfully, a good friend of mine that used to work there suggested that I stop by and look around. It was my lucky day because they had a bunch of work pants on sale and they fit perfectly!

Hi Meg, Yes I heard about the pop-up store.. I'm actually going there tomorrow evening. Will you be there for the party as well? This is such a great brand, I wish there was an actual STORE in nyc!

There was a time when I really loved the limited look. Right now, I am really looking for timeless pieces that will last and last. Can anyone tell me about the quality they have currently?
The Pop-Up store thing is such a cool idea! And extra cool that you got to be their window display :D Hope you're having an amazing trip, can't wait to hear back about the holiday lines!
I really miss living near NYC....Sigh.Nothing cool happens in Pennsylvania :P
You are so lucky to be in New York City! I love it there. The best city in the world, hands down! I am so bored with living in Las Vegas I could just die. I am planning on moving, so it's going to be NYC or Boston. The recession has hit hard here. It's the worst ever. We're #2 in the most unemployed. I would leave this very second if I could. There is just so much to do there, plus close to relatives in Boston which is cool. There is no change of weather here ever. It's either boiling like insanity hell or it might get a bit chilly. I love 4 seasons and honestly don't know how I could stand this for as long as I have.. yuck!!That will end shortly. Thank goodness!!

That sounds really cool! I guess the limited (haha) time they are open at that location is really bringing customers in.And Meg, you look stunning in a window! :)
You look lovely sitting in the window, I'll bet you're attracting lots of attention, I know someone sitting in a shop window would certainly get my attention.

ohh you look very nice like a working girl !!!love it !!! :)
Great photo Meg, you look fantastic sitting in the window, and the coat is great. Having someone in the shop window must attract a lot of attention and be a good marketing tool.
That sounds so fun! When I was much younger I did modeling and my favorite was mannequin modeling. One time this jerk went and bought a can of "Fart" spray and he attempted to spray it up our skirts. All three of us jumped off the platform and Mr. Fart Spray was taken to security. We weren't in a window like you, we were in the middle of Gayfers Department Store, which later became Dillards in Biloxi, MS.You look beautiful, but you always look beautiful! I'm so, so, thankful that I found this website. You're amazing and I adore so many of the members. Coming to your site gives me a little boost of "peppy"!Thanks for all that you do.Rachel

Loving the jacket!I would never be able to do something like that, its wierd, only if you added a table it would just be like your in a cafe and wouldnt feel self concious hmmmm hehe :)xx
I really love the fact that you put that petition for on your site for "MR. WONDERFUL" UP!! I was so happy to sign it. You just don't know. Keep up the great, happy site. I love visiting it daily. It makes me happy to know that I am not the only one out there that can feel happy, blue, ecstatic, depressed, you name it. This website gives the best advice on beauty and emotions. It's really a boost. You should be proud that you have so many fans!! I can't wait till they offer you your own sitcome or talk show with no bleeping any foul language out ...ha ha. Kidding to the extra conservative people out there. No offense. I'm just having fun. : )

That jacket is VERY cute, I'm loving it! :DAnd I have to say I want one of every peacoat on their site. >_>
I love NYC. Soho is my favourite place to be. Lucky you! I WISH I was there!
Meg, you crack me up! I wish I could go to New York right now, I hope I don't have to though (the only reason to go would be if my Grandpa died, lets pray I won't go for another couple years!)
Even in work mode you still look fab Meg! Work it!
How adorable!! Meg you are so cute! I totally love the drapey jacket. The pop up store is an awesome idea!
oh I want to go to NY so bad! You are gorgeous Meg, I bet no one thought anything of you sitting in the window typing away. :)
Very cute photo! I love the concept of pop-up stores, and the Limited needed a little shake-up, I used to buy there all the time, then it got boring, but I do love the jacket you have on, you should totally get one!
Ohhh Meg, you've saved the day! What a rip-roaring fun article! I LOVE that you were a mannequin for a few hours! Hope that annoying guy got the message sooner rather than later, though. :PPoor Jeanasina - hope you're feeling better, precious. ♥ Rest assured, your little corner of Meg's is bursting with good vibes and happy shoppers, even when you're ill! :DLooking forward to your triumphant return when you're back on your feet.
NYC is awesome! What a funny post. And it's nice to "see" you (you are not a zoo animal though omg!).
Wow - interesting concept! You look fab, of course. Love that jacket. I haven't been in a Limited in ages, but I'll take a look at the website. Glad they're updating their styles.

I love this! I'm so mad I missed this as I was being a lazy bee and refusing internet for a weekend.

Lovely Meg! You represented Body Beautiful day well! Thanks for standing in for me! I have never sat in a store front window in my life! Brave thing to do and fun I'm sure~! As usual, you rocked the cute factor! To attempt to try to keep in the spirit of our connection, on the day you were writing for me, I sat in front of my window which faces the back yard and all day long the birds saw me in the window and made bird comments to one another! That's got to be similar right? I bet they commented on how 'uncool' I was looking! My wardrobe, now that I have been laid off, is very LIMITED! LOL! Get the connection! Limited!?? Love you Meg! Thanks for nailing Body Beautiful Wednesday you beautiful walking ball of loveliness on a stick!! OXOXOX
Jeanasina!
Oh this brings back so many childhood memories for me! My mom had me decked head to toe in limited too items! I was totally the most fashionable 6 year old ever! That's right, I was the kid in the early 90's with the bright blue sweater with matching dyed jeans and turqouise jewelry. Matching swimsuit with coverups. I used to hide as my mom rang up the items because I was embarrassed she spent so much just on me.Even had a jealous wannabee who's mom dressed her in sweatpant suits who hated me because of my fashionista ways. Too bad for her. I haven't walked into a Limited store in years....mostly because I'm no longer in an area that has a storefront. Thanks for reminding me of this brand! So many great memories.
It was in SoHo and I didnt' get to read this post until now? FML!! I'm so close and yet so far all the time.. Sigh :(
xoxo
Wow, they have some really cute sweaters.I hope you had fun playing mannequin.
