DR. DIMA'S COSMINOLOGY! BIG BANG THOSE LIGHT YEARS AWAY! HI-PLUTONIC C DAYLIGHT ANTI-OXIDANT CREAM!

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 8:54pm
  • Mondays With Meg
  • Face

hicMeg here! I want to be very honest-I like my cocktails, I like my ciggs and I never get enough sleep or have a proper diet. In my teenage years I liked to use tanning beds and would lie sunscreen free in the sun. I have a few responsible qualities...I'm sure they'll come to me sooner or later.

Oh, got one! I usually read directions. That does not apply to my review of the following product. Cosminology has a DAY cream that is "Big Bang Those Light Years Away! Hi-Plutonic C Antioxident Cream." Ok, I am an idiot-because I thought this was amazing as a night cream.

First of all, it's (for lack of a more descriptive term) buttery. No, It's not like a greasy stick of butter. It's consistency is sort of like those really high end body butters. It is really decadent and you only need a dime size amount and you will have a luxuriously covered face. It feels like it's thick but the spreading consistency is divine. It doesn't ball up flake. Here's the scientific part I don't understand-for all of it's fabulous richness it absorbs extremely quickly into your skin. I hate going to bed all slick-WHICH IS WHY IT IS A DAY CREAM. Nothing's worse in the morning then being in a race with the clock and having to wait for your face to dry so you can apply your paint! Frown I digress...

My face felt really soft, as if I had just used a primer. My face was baby-soft so not only does this have medical properties but it does do a dual job working as a makeup primer.

You all know I am a vitamin C face junkie. Well, this is created by a very famous dermatologist so there are epic levels of vitamin C in this potion. In fact, my face felt a slight warming sensation once I had it fully coated.

My facial warmness felt just as I described it-warm. There was no harsh burning and I consider (unlike the rest of my being) my facial sensitivity level to be quite normal.

In the morning, after I hop out of the shower I have seen a difference in the tone of my skin. I have been using this product for about 12 days. Tomorrow I am going to use it correctly, I'm going to give it a shot for the daytime. This is leaving me in a conundrum as I have grown so fond of it at night. No slick face? Super sexy bedroom softness for my pillow and zero medicinal odor?

I'm really impressed with what I have gotten from this line. I hope to turn more of you on to Cosminology. The packaging does not do justice to how incredible the product inside is. It's a double edged sword. If the package mimicked the product I fear this jar would run into the hundreds.

I am giving Cosminology's Big Bang Those Light Years Away 5 Champagne flutes-keep in mind I am possessive of my champagne.

Who else has a miracle product that follows true to the "can't judge a book by its cover?" I mean, seriously, we're not putting the damn jar itself on our face. This is really great stuff!

Check It Out Here!

I sadly do tend to judge produts based on their packaging, Of corse unless its been reviewed here! then I know I can trust it!Theres been a few reviews on this company and I am interested in their mineral makeup. I emailed to see if they would consider selling sample sizes but they have no plans to at the moment and the prices are a bit on the the high side. Not to say great products as described above are not worthy of a higher price tag. Im an estee lauder junkie so I dont mind spending the extra money. But I do like to try the expensive products before I buy them which is why estee lauder is so convenient, everything is out for you to try.Hopefully they will consider this because it sounds soooooo great!  And anything anti aging always catches my eye.I was just admiring the products on their website and it looks as though the fault line defender is the night cream. And it sounds ooooh so tempting *bites nails*I need a good night cream, the plasma center doesnt open for another..... 2 weeks!!!!!

My "can't judge a book by its cover" product would have to be Coastal Scents Silica Spheres.  They come in a really plain, big plastic container with a paper label and no sifter or anything, but it's an amazing product!  It's the exact same thing as MUFE's HD powder (which certainly wins on packaging), 100% silica, but you get way more product for a ridiculous fraction of the price!  I seriously don't know why anyone would ever purchase MUFE's version, it's basically throwing money down the drain.  Like Meg said, we're not putting the damn jar itself on our face!

I've been meaning to buy that stuff, but Coastal Scents customer service is such a turn off.  Still, I want to start pressing my minerals so I'm going to have to bite the bullet and make a purchase from them.

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO REVIEW DR DIMA. OMG I could dance with happiness. I ordered Dr Dimas compact powder foundation and it's great. When I got the foundation I also got free samples. Vit C cream by Dr Dima is awesome.  This is a great company.I really like the products. A lot of Hollywood uses this foundation. I like it bc it is a compact. My color is AstroTara. It is a compact that wears like loose mineral powder with out the mess. I hope you all LOVE Dr Dimas products.

My don't-judge-a-book product is pawpaw ointment.  Its so fanastic for my lips, a bit before bed and they are beautiful for the next day!  Its also multi purpose, so I can use it on rashes, cuts, burns ...

My don't judge a book product is Witch Hazel. I mean seriously - that clear liquid is good? Its not like gold or anything fancy. So because  it was plain I thought it wasn't going to be that great. But its seriously amazing stuff! I can't live without it now! :)

Hmm, guess every product I've ever tried!  They either work or don't and the choice to use one or another is partially dependent on appearance.  Some were very physically appealing and worked well while others fell flat.  The reverse is also true.  It's a great reminder that, yes, while packaging plays a huge psychological factor in our decision to buy, it is ultimately the product inside that we judge.  (As it should be.)

i guess i'm guilty of judging products by their packaging unless ive heard great things. if i will venture from mac, i want my cosmetics to come in unique packaging. for other beauty products, i like clear labels with a pretty design and nothing overly simple/generic-looking

My product is argan oil, I've tried all different brands. And when I get a new one, if the packaging isn't awesome, it makes me wonder if the oil inside is as good as the rest. How stupid is that? It's all the same, but I do it everytime.

Ladies, this site is full of reviews of great products that have modest packaging but fabulous results.  In fact, some of my favorites, like the Magic of Aloes products, look as if they came straight out of a Soviet-bloc factory, before the fall of Communism made Russian skin care stuff look expensive.  Dr. Dima's line is certaibly utilitarian, but the products themselves are worthy of very serious attention.  I love the mineral compact -- no mess, and great texture and coverage -- and their sample kit is a great way to try out their other stuff.

Oh, what is a jar...it might be terribly boring, and dull, and boring...and the contents may be absolutely wonderful. That is exactly what I feel about my EDM. Don't like the packaging one bit (a rubber ring would solve a lot of problems!), but the product is lovely. Same goes for my Garden of Wisdom products. If it works as a night cream, then by all means, continue using it as both night and day cream. I've never really understood the difference anyhow. Both seal in hydration. Both soften the skin. One takes forever to sink in and makes your pillows a mess if you do not begin your routine a few hours before going to bed...the other leaves your skin perfectly happy no matter what time of the day it is. To me, it seems a very easy choice. ;)

Very curious about the line,it sounds like an effective and lovely product! :)Meg...you have no bad habits except that you don't like food much,LOLROF! Seriously,it's like bribing a child to get this girl to eat! Oh course most of us wished we liked it less too...I used to be picky about packaging but honestly,in this economy,I'd MUCH rather have cost spent on the contents rather than on the jar!I adore the "Naturally Upper Canada" line and their stuff is plaino-janeo all the way...Just got some of the silica powder from Coastal Scents and agree it's a well kept gem!Absolutely planning on giving this day/night cream a whirl girl!

What is the price tag on this cream?  I love vitamin C products too and I'm another smoker.  Right now I'm enjoying Philosophy's Vitamin C 2 step mask.  I got a free kit, I think it's called the Miracle Worker kit, by using this code at Sephora's checkout:
This is a nice gift with purchase. Use Sephora coupon code PHL31 for a free Philosophy 5 piece set with any $25 Sephora order.

I just used this code 4 days ago and it still worked.

oh how badly I want to try a vitamin c product on my face. I have this line I am eyeing at Target but I bet it isn't as good as this. Too bad I can't afford $88 right now!So my product that I love and can't live without but looks so unassuming is Dessert Essence Jojoba oil (organic). It is amazing stuff for the body and the face, really helps my dehydrated skin. Oh and other products that rock but look boring are Mario Badescu products. Amazing skin products, I love the Healing & Soothing Mask, Silver Powder, Flower & Tonic Mask & Hyaluronic Eye Cream.

I don't think that jar looks that bad!  With so many dud products on the market I don't care about packaging, I just try to investigate reviews before making a purchase.  Some of my favourite products come in plain packaging.  Green clay comes in a white cardboard box, vitamin e oil comes in a plain little glass jar, and Monistat gel... well, says Monistat on it! Even with the plain packaging, $88?  No thanks.  I really believe you can get truly great products without breaking the bank.  I don't see a need to spend more than $20/30 on a product.  I have been very happy with the ones I have tried so far and have not spent anywhere near $88 on anything.

I don't think I would buy any thing with ugly or overly glizty packaging. Both equates to dubious marketing to me. I can do with plain packaging, in fact, I'm more attracted to simple and handcrafted packaging. BUT, I also have a soft spot for Japanese cutesy packaging, although I have reservations that such products actually live up to their claims. My miracle product is this lip treatment balm by Tiffa (a drugstore brand under Kanebo)  -- the packaging is too cute, in a little pink plastic pot, almost like a toy.  Everything is in Japanese and I have no idea what chemicals are in the pot.  I bought the balm strictly due to the packaging cos I doubted it will work.  I was so wrong. Whenever my lips cracked (esp when I visit cold climated countries or I was too lazy to apply lip balm throughout the day), I would use this and I'll wake up with uber soft & smooth lips :)  Strangely, the treatment has no effect if my lips are normal/not dry. p/s the packaging of this Dr. Dima's day cream will not put me off buying and I absolutely love the warning label on the screw cap. the price tag... hmmm..

I have been terribly guilty of buying products because I adore the packaging...usually I find myself doing this when I'm in a mood and impulse shopping ;) But I honestly don't think the packaging for this product is horrible...its really not bad! And after Megs fantabulous review (thanks Meg!!!) it's a definite must-try product! ♥

Im drooling to get my paws on this line.I hearya about the sticky texture you sometimes get with night creams when most of it ends up on the pillow.I used to have a tendency to judge a product by its packaging(much like I have met a boring guy again cos he was hot)but after buying a certain big brand cream that rn out in two weeks I opened the package to find the outside made of white (so it looked lke loads was left)and inserted on he inside a test tube where the actual product was stored-annoying.My dont look like much but work great products are montagne jeunesse masks and scrubs and citre shine serum ,rose water and coconut oil.

I USE THIS AND LOVE IT! I actually have DR. Dima in my faves on my blog. Trust that you will see the difference in your skin. I have a very stressful job where eating well and drinking water gets set aside by lots of coffee and "energy" drinks. On top of that I have two children under 5 that I need to attend to. So with all that I do need this miracle lotion. I have gone with out using and have definitely seen the difference and not for the better. So thank you Dr. Dima you ROCK! You too Meg :)DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.

I haven't actually heard of this line, but a ton of you sound really enthusiastic towards it. The cream itself sounds amazing, but I often worry about super moisturizing, super creamy formulas. I still struggle with acne and worry about the whole pore clogging issue.Hmm..I guess my don't judge a book by it's cover product is aloe vera gel lotion. I have a Costco sized container sitting on my counter. I use it everyday. It's amazing. It's super light. Doesn't clog my pores. Works well as a lotion. It doesn't smell. It's pretty awesome. I've even tried it in my hair to smooth frizzies, it does that too. The brand I buy is in completely tragic packaging, but I still love it.
