MURAD POMEGRANATE EXFOLIATING MASK
Hey everybody! You know what time it is? That's right! It's time to read another segment of Body Beautiful with Jeanasina!
So, I'm sure most of you have heard of the Murad brand – it's been around since 1989! The fact that it's still in existence tells me that their products must be working and they must continue to have advances in their skin care lines which keep up with the times and needs of women in 2009! Three of Murad's newer advanced skincare line products consists of their Vitalic Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser, Moisturizer and Exfoliating Mask!
I'm here to talk about the mask! Well first of all, right now, everywhere you look as well as in every ad you see and hear, there seems to be a constant message telling us that pomegranates are the way to go. I thought of Meg immediately as I was writing, because I bet she would love to sip on a pomegranate martini while reading my review right now! In case any of you want to sip on a pomegranate martini while I talk (it would be very appropriate)...here's a fun little video that tells you exactly how to make it!http://video.about.com/cocktails/Pomegranate-Martini.htm
While you are enjoying your drink, I'll fill you in on some facts about the Murad Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask!
When you purchase the mask, it comes with six facial mask treatments for about $22.00 which is pretty good! When you are ready to try the mask, be sure you start with a clean face. You'll grab one packet and carefully rip it open and then you'll have your first access to the goopy sorta runny substance inside the packet! Now first you'll think you are gong to get gypped because there just can't possibly be much of anything inside the packet...however, there IS plenty and in face you could probably use the packet for two different applications or you can do as I did and just glop the stuff on in one session! It's a little messy but if you are patient, you'll get it spread on your face and neck just fine. I imagine if you don't use it all and want to keep it,maybe you could keep it in a small baggie or something along those lines so it doesn't dry out. It probably would be easier if it came in a bottle or something however, if you wanted to take your mask with you on trips these little packets would make it a snap!
Now... here's where the interesting part comes in. This stuff is COOL, as in, cools your skin and pores so much, it kinda feels like you stuck your face into a snowbank! I'm telling you the truth here! Holy face freeze! For me, the oddest thing was that it made my nose run! The entire 20 minutes that I left it on, my eyes were watering and my nose ran! Crazy! It could have just been that I was just feeling very moved and emotional because I know all of you are reading this review right now. However, I think the ingredients just activated something in my sinuses which has not happened to me before when trying a mask!
The mask is made of pomegranate and ginkgo biloba extracts that fight free radicals and inflammation! The natural fruit enzymes and AHAs also dissolves old and tired cells (that's me for sure...old and tired cells...) while freeing the skin's surface of trapped impurities! “An antioxidant-rich, weekly treatment that restores, revitalizes, and balances the skin. Murad Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask provides instant, intensive smoothing and hydrating benefits. Each single-dose treatment dissolves dull and dry skin creating a complexion that is fresh, clear, smooth, and bright.” Well there you go! That's what I'm looking for in my final results!
So, after about 15-20 minutes I did as suggested and rinsed my face off thoroughly with warm water. My nose has stopped running and my skin feels smooth and refreshed. It didn't leave a 'blush' or anything like that but my skin does look nicer for having used this mask. I have a hunch it helps make pores appear smaller. They suggest using it once or twice a week for optimal results!
I wonder what obscure fruit willo be #1 in health benefits next year? The acai berry was HUGE for quite awhile and now of course, it's the amazing pomegranate! Next year maybe the seldom mentioned huckleberry will be in the spotlight as the #1 sought after miracle berry!
One more thing, when I got up this morning after applying this mask overnight, when I woke up my skin really felt tight and more youthful and less wrinkly! Quite smooth actually! Now THAT's a good thing! It's about 8:00 a.m. as I write this and I wonder if they make pomegranate flavored coffee anywhere?
How about you ladies...are there Murad or pommegrante fans out there!

i Love Love Love Pommagrante! Pmmagrante margaritas, martinis .. i also make a special drink for my boyfriends cousins ( 15 and 11 ) that consists of Sprite and pommagrante flavoring.. so they feel like "big girls" heheI have never tried this brand but it sounds awesome! The Freezer face gets me excited to try it! hehe
This sounds amazing and perfect for my skin. I'd use this while sipping a pomegranate martini. It's called multitasking ;)

Like the ladies before me, I love pomegranate! Melilala, sipping a martini while treating oneself to this mask is an excellent idea! Jeanasina, there is no way I can skip trying this from your description. Pomegranate combined with firming, pore-cleaning, and cooling? Works for me! My nephew handles some of Murad's marketing accounts in California but he is limited in what he can give to me. It sounds worth the $22.00. I hadn't used a mask on my face for a long time and use a grape merlot one last week twice. I had nearly forgotten the benefits of masks, and you have sold me, you little China-doll like Barbie!
Please check the forum for the sale on NYX ending today. Thank you and God Bless!
Pomegranate martini you say?? Where do I get one of those? Sounds fantastic and so does this product.
i've been loving the smell with anything pomegranate in it. this sounds great
Love those seedy little fruits! Mike had NO idea what a pomegranate was so I bought one for him last Christmas when they are around in the markets: he expected ME to scoop out the seeds for him and didn't "get" the fun of eating one,LOL! Haven't had a martini flavored with pom but the juice is nice. :)I did like the mask for the most part...it's messy and somewhat unique but it smooths and soothes. However,I had a bunch of small red bumps the next am after using the night before so I'm thinking it REALLY cleanses and I'll leave that crud in my pores if it's all smooth and happy,LOL! Cheers to you pretty girl! I give this product a B+ overall...
I love pomegranate, mainly with some sugar and red wine over the seeds. This way you can use the mask and the wine wipes ;)
I love pomegranate! havent a few meg heads been sent this mask in their beauty packs? i think $22 is a bit steep for 6 masks but it does sound lovely!
I ordered the clarifying cleanser from Murad a few months ago and I received a free sample of the Energizing Pomegranate Moisturizer with SPF 15. Its awesome so I can only imagine what the mask is like. The moisturizer definitely leaves me the most moisturized with no oil, which is really great for anyone and a little bit goes a long way. My skin does glow after I use it hmm... there may be some truth to this pomegranate thing!
Style may be on the surface, but you can be deep and still have some - Clarissa Gough
My absolute favourite lip balm is made with pomegranate oil, so there must be something about pomegranate.I used to think "cooling" products were just plain annoying. Nowadays, after having found my HG shaving cream, I love the tingly feeling. So, once I run out of my clay jar I might consider giving this one a try. Thanks for the review. It is really, really a jungle out there with face masks at the moment. Even my grocery store have started carrying a range! :S
This sounds yummy!! $22 is a bit much for a 6 pack though. I love the fact that it's cold! That's gotta be great for closing pores.
I got this in my package from Meg, and I love it! The cooling sensation makes it so much more fun to use and afterwards, my complexion looks much brighter. Plus, I got two uses out of each packet, so it was more like a 12 pack in the end.
I really like the Murad line, I love using a face mask, my skin always feels so clean and re-invigorated afterwards. Pomegranates are appearing in so many things this year, YES to the martini!!thanks for the valuable info!! you all are the best!!
I have this mask, and I like it. It's not life-changing, but it is nice. I love the scent of pomegranite, I love BBW pomegranite martini home fragrance oil. I'm down to my last 2 bottles, and they don't make it anymore, so I'm rationing.
OoOOooo Meg sent this to me with my rewards gift! They were quite lovely and gave a beautifully fresh feeling after application! : )) and yes! there is enough for 2 applications! But I think it worked better on the first (perhaps because the package was left opened??Anyhow I really loved the feel of the application and the "snowbank" sensation!<3 <3
Love Murad, love pomegranate...What's not to love here?! I have that pomegranate lip balm someone else mentioned too and I lurrrrrrve it.
Ooh, I would love to try this out. Guess it's a trip to Sephora for a sample! I actually have a carton of pomegranate seeds in my fridge right now! They are soo good!
I like pomegranate- the fruit and the way it smells :) And also Murad's products. This mask sounds amazing. Thanks for the review! I can't wait to try this now.

oooh pomegranate is soo good. it seems like every year there is a new super fruit. last year it was acai. what's on deck for '10?
gosh, i love all things pomegranate- esp the fruit- i was so excited to seem some at Wal Mart finally :) to keep on the topic- i bought Murad Pomegranate lip treatment for a friend as a gift and she recommends it as well, it made her lips very soft and it smells great. Other pomegranate products I recommend to those as crazy about it as I am- Pomegranate Cranberry juice (taste delicious and tart), Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir perfume (very dark vampy scent- smells like tart pomegranate plus herbs), Midnight Pomegranate from BBW all body lotions/washes and soap is amazing! Many brands also have Pomegranate ice cream now and it tastes delicious!
Sounds interesting, especially the cooling feeling! I'd love to try these masks sometime, I always love fun new face stuff! :)
I love pomagranate martinis!!!Lol and anything else pomogranate! So this face mask found awesome!! I thin Ill give it a go because ive been deciding on a face mask to try and this seems like the sign uve been waiting for...the face freeze thing sounds cool.... lol
Tan is Love
ooohhh i wanna try this!!
you completely distraced me at pomegrante martinis,so i had to go back to read the rest of the article, but the mask sounds really nice
I love pomegranate fruit, it is delicious and healthy,so the mask must be good for the skin too. Love to try it
This would be wonderful for my mom to try! I haven't had much success with Murad products but by the sound of this it's worth giving a shot.
This is an exciting product. I love the way it made my skin look all glow-y and smooth. By the nature of the design (used twice weekly) you can expect it to be fairly gentle. Sometimes that makes me think it might not be as effective but I was so wrong, it's effective in all the right ways in all the right places. On certain areas of my face, it even reminded me of my daughter's skin, which as we all know, youthful skin is as good as it gets. I also really like that each package is individually sealed. It's clean, easy to use, and the generous amount you get in each package almost forces you to apply the product to your chest area. (An area that I often overlook-pure laziness.)Great for travel, and zero sensitivity issues with my problem skin. I give this an A+. Terrific review Jeanasina, the huckleberry better look out, here we come! I love that I can hear your actual voice now each time I read your thoughts!
i wanna try i don't have this in France !! :( So bad
Oooo these like nice I must say I do like pomegranate :-) I love masks so I'd like to try these some time too :-)
I'm sitting here laughing at myself because my first thought was, awesome, clear sinuses! :) This sounds great, and I think pomegranate has so many benefits. If I try this though, it will be the next time my sinuses are stuffed up!
I absolutely love anything and everything pomegranate! From juice, to cocktails, lip balms and candies! Haven't heard much about it in facial products. From my persepective, $22 is still pretty steep for 6 facials, especially when the mask I use now costs my $10 for about 30 uses. It does sounds like a great product, I think I would really like the cooling effect. Maybe as a treat one day I will try this, but in the mean time probably not.
I have tried this product and it's wonderful! xoxo

Wow I want this! I have been in love with pomegranates since a project I did on the Greek goddess Persephone. Anyone familiar with her story?
Yes. She was the daughter of the Greek goddess of Nature Demeter, who was abducted by Hades and forced to become Queen of the Underworld. Devastated, Demeter searched for her daughter, neglecting her duties as Earth goddess so the crops would not grow and the people were starving. To make Demeter happy again and save earth, Zeus sent Hermes down to bring Persephone back from the Underworld. The Fates had a rule which was that anyone who ate food in the Underworld had to stay for eternity. Hades, knowing this rule, tricked Persephone into eating pomegranate seeds. She could not leave Underworld permanently, she would be forced to return. When Persephone returned to the Earth, the earth bloomed with color. However, the seeds and the Fates' rule forced Persephone into returning to the Underworld for a season each year. That is the reason why during some parts of the year, the earth is a barren realm. Because Persephone has returned to the Underworld.
I've said before that Murad products haven't worked well for me in the past, but this mask sounds interesting. I love pomegranate--whether it's a flavor or cosmetic ingredient. I also love anything with a cooling sensation. Whenever I feel a migraine coming on, I try to put something cooling on my face, whether an eye mask or some peppermint oil on my temples. I bet a cooling mask would help a lot! This is definitely going on my Christmas list!
i love this since meg sent this in my makeup points package!! looove and swwwwwoooon. i just wish it was in a squeze tube or something more convenient!
this sounds amazing! i love pomegranite. nowadays so many products out there use pomegranite and i'm glad murad is too!
I love a good face mask, and this one sounds super affordable! I've been lazy lately and not buying any as the ones from LUSH tend to expire before I've used them all. This would be better as it doesn't look like it would expire. :D
Pomegranites are my favorite fruit!! :D I'm so excited about this hehe
This review was fun to read and it was well-written. The brand is as old as i am!!
I like how theyre individually wrapped. I might just try them out when I have to go over at my friends house for a whole month next summer to prepare for her wedding! It'll be great because I want something that will make my skin look and feel great not only at the wedding but also for the week-long ceremonies and parties that will take place a week before the wedding since it's an Indian wedding.

The Pomegranate mask sounds awesome. I love that cool feeling that masks seldom ever give. (usually only a face wash).I read about a couple people getting it in their packages from meg...and liking it. I do wish they just put this inn a bottle, instead of individual packages...it would make life much easier.
not even a bad price (:thanks for the article!
Oh, yes - pomegranate! Starbucks used to make a fabulous pomegranate syrup, and it was my FAVE non-coffee drink there. But they stoppped carrying it. I still ask for it online, and periodically, just in case they bring it back.Murad is great, and I've found their non-paraben products (I have to look for them) - don't irritate my eyes and make my nose run. I used to use their sensitive skin acne gel, and it was very effective. Now, I just use jojoba oil.
I've been looking for a mask. I think I'll get this one. :)
Pomegranate martinis are delicious! I have tried this mask and my skin felt so smooth after wards, I liked it a lot.
mmmm pomegranate martinis. I don't know about the murad stuff but I will take the martini any day!
That sounds great! The only problem is that that is $3.50+ a mask, too much moola!
to be honnest before getting the TWO Murads products from MEG that brand was unknown to me...and I am really happy that I got the chance to try it cause I felt in LOve the moisturzer vitamin C that I got is phenomenal and I barely use it know cause I don't want to finish it lolI am pretty sure that this exfoliating mask is a good as it sisters =) + I love the pomegranate scent !Thank you Meg !

I got this from Meg about a month ago I guess. It's nice but honestly it did do anything for my skin. I didn't notice any difference whatsoever. I don't think it's designed my my kind of skin though either.
