MURAD POMEGRANATE EXFOLIATING MASK

Wed, 09/30/2009 - 10:51am
  • Body Beautiful
  • Face

murad1Hey everybody! You know what time it is? That's right! It's time to read another segment of Body Beautiful with Jeanasina!

So, I'm sure most of you have heard of the Murad brand – it's been around since 1989! The fact that it's still in existence tells me that their products must be working and they must continue to have advances in their skin care lines which keep up with the times and needs of women in 2009! Three of Murad's newer advanced skincare line products consists of their Vitalic Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser, Moisturizer and Exfoliating Mask!

I'm here to talk about the mask! Well first of all, right now, everywhere you look as well as in every ad you see and hear, there seems to be a constant message telling us that pomegranates are the way to go. I thought of Meg immediately as I was writing, because I bet she would love to sip on a pomegranate martini while reading my review right now! In case any of you want to sip on a pomegranate martini while I talk (it would be very appropriate)...here's a fun little video that tells you exactly how to make it!http://video.about.com/cocktails/Pomegranate-Martini.htm

While you are enjoying your drink, I'll fill you in on some facts about the Murad Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask!

When you purchase the mask, it comes with six facial mask treatments for about $22.00 which is pretty good! When you are ready to try the mask, be sure you start with a clean face. You'll grab one packet and carefully rip it open and then you'll have your first access to the goopy sorta runny substance inside the packet! Now first you'll think you are gong to get gypped because there just can't possibly be much of anything inside the packet...however, there IS plenty and in face you could probably use the packet for two different applications or you can do as I did and just glop the stuff on in one session! It's a little messy but if you are patient, you'll get it spread on your face and neck just fine. I imagine if you don't use it all and want to keep it,maybe you could keep it in a small baggie or something along those lines so it doesn't dry out. It probably would be easier if it came in a bottle or something however, if you wanted to take your mask with you on trips these little packets would make it a snap!

Now... here's where the interesting part comes in. This stuff is COOL, as in, cools your skin and pores so much, it kinda feels like you stuck your face into a snowbank! I'm telling you the truth here! Holy face freeze! For me, the oddest thing was that it made my nose run! The entire 20 minutes that I left it on, my eyes were watering and my nose ran! Crazy! It could have just been that I was just feeling very moved and emotional because I know all of you are reading this review right now. However, I think the ingredients just activated something in my sinuses which has not happened to me before when trying a mask!

The mask is made of pomegranate and ginkgo biloba extracts that fight free radicals and inflammation! The natural fruit enzymes and AHAs also dissolves old and tired cells (that's me for sure...old and tired cells...) while freeing the skin's surface of trapped impurities! “An antioxidant-rich, weekly treatment that restores, revitalizes, and balances the skin. Murad Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask provides instant, intensive smoothing and hydrating benefits. Each single-dose treatment dissolves dull and dry skin creating a complexion that is fresh, clear, smooth, and bright.” Well there you go! That's what I'm looking for in my final results!

So, after about 15-20 minutes I did as suggested and rinsed my face off thoroughly with warm water. My nose has stopped running and my skin feels smooth and refreshed. It didn't leave a 'blush' or anything like that but my skin does look nicer for having used this mask. I have a hunch it helps make pores appear smaller. They suggest using it once or twice a week for optimal results!

I wonder what obscure fruit willo be #1 in health benefits next year? The acai berry was HUGE for quite awhile and now of course, it's the amazing pomegranate! Next year maybe the seldom mentioned huckleberry will be in the spotlight as the #1 sought after miracle berry!

One more thing, when I got up this morning after applying this mask overnight, when I woke up my skin really felt tight and more youthful and less wrinkly! Quite smooth actually! Now THAT's a good thing!  It's about 8:00 a.m. as I write this and I wonder if they make pomegranate flavored coffee anywhere?

How about you ladies...are there Murad or pommegrante fans out there!

Love those seedy little fruits! Mike had NO idea what a pomegranate was so I bought one for him last Christmas when they are around in the markets: he expected ME to scoop out the seeds for him and didn't "get" the fun of eating one,LOL! Haven't had a martini flavored with pom but the juice is nice. :)I did like the mask for the most part...it's messy and somewhat unique but it smooths and soothes. However,I had a bunch of small red bumps the next am after using the night before so I'm thinking it REALLY cleanses and I'll leave that crud in my pores if it's all smooth and happy,LOL! Cheers to you pretty girl! I give this product a B+ overall...

I ordered the clarifying cleanser from Murad a few months ago and I received a free sample of the Energizing Pomegranate Moisturizer with SPF 15. Its awesome so I can only imagine what the mask is like. The moisturizer definitely leaves me the most moisturized with no oil, which is really great for anyone and a little bit goes a long way. My skin does glow after I use it hmm... there may be some truth to this pomegranate thing!

My absolute favourite lip balm is made with pomegranate oil, so there must be something about pomegranate.I used to think "cooling" products were just plain annoying. Nowadays, after having found my HG shaving cream, I love the tingly feeling. So, once I run out of my clay jar I might consider giving this one a try. Thanks for the review. It is really, really a jungle out there with face masks at the moment. Even my grocery store have started carrying a range! :S

Other pomegranate products I recommend to those as crazy about it as I am- Pomegranate Cranberry juice (taste delicious and tart), Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir perfume (very dark vampy scent- smells like tart pomegranate plus herbs), Midnight Pomegranate from BBW all body lotions/washes and soap is amazing! Many brands also have Pomegranate ice cream now and it tastes delicious!

This is an exciting product.  I love the way it made my skin look all glow-y and smooth.  By the nature of the design (used twice weekly) you can expect it to be fairly gentle.  Sometimes that makes me think it might not be as effective but I was so wrong, it's effective in all the right ways in all the right places.  On certain areas of my face, it even reminded me of my daughter's skin, which as we all know, youthful skin is as good as it gets.  I also really like that each package is individually sealed.  It's clean, easy to use, and the generous amount you get in each package almost forces you to apply the product to your chest area.  (An area that I often overlook-pure laziness.)Great for travel, and zero sensitivity issues with my problem skin.  I give this an A+.  Terrific review Jeanasina, the huckleberry better look out, here we come!  I love that I can hear your actual voice now each time I read your thoughts!

I absolutely love anything and everything pomegranate!  From juice, to cocktails, lip balms and candies!  Haven't heard much about it in facial products.  From my persepective, $22 is still pretty steep for 6 facials, especially when the mask I use now costs my $10 for about 30 uses.  It does sounds like a great product, I think I would really like the cooling effect.  Maybe as a treat one day I will try this, but in the mean time probably not.

Yes.  She was the daughter of the Greek goddess of Nature Demeter, who was abducted by Hades and forced to become Queen of the Underworld.  Devastated, Demeter searched for her daughter, neglecting her duties as Earth goddess so the crops would not grow and the people were starving.  To make Demeter happy again and save earth, Zeus sent Hermes down to bring Persephone back from the Underworld.  The Fates had a rule which was that anyone who ate food in the Underworld had to stay for eternity.  Hades, knowing this rule, tricked Persephone into eating pomegranate seeds.  She could not leave Underworld permanently, she would be forced to return.  When Persephone returned to the Earth, the earth bloomed with color.  However, the seeds and the Fates' rule forced Persephone into returning to the Underworld for a season each year. That is the reason why during some parts of the year, the earth is a barren realm.  Because Persephone has returned to the Underworld.

I've said before that Murad products haven't worked well for me in the past, but this mask sounds interesting. I love pomegranate--whether it's a flavor or cosmetic ingredient. I also love anything with a cooling sensation. Whenever I feel a migraine coming on, I try to put something cooling on my face, whether an eye mask or some peppermint oil on my temples. I bet a cooling mask would help a lot! This is definitely going on my Christmas list!
