NATURALLY UPPER CANADA! COARSE SALT SCRUB !
"It's raining,it's pouring..." Goddess Granny just put on her flip-flops and went out to splash around in a puddle! Some new beauty treatment aka a mud-pedi or something you ask? Naw...it's just that it's literally been MONTHS since I have seen the wet stuff and it did me good to just go wallow in the mud for a few minutes.
Sometimes those "simple pleasures" really ARE the best!
I also love when a company keeps thing real and simple: an edited menu of fabulous products containing elegantly pure and refined ingredients can be more satisfying than an entire buffet of less than exciting fare! I for one am a believer that quality=longevity as well.
A company that has been in biz since 1969? Obviously they are doing a LOT right! With an incredible, creative, and thoughtful line of specialty bath and body products, "Naturally Upper Canada" has achieved this amazing degree of success and continues to set the bar in the bath and body industry. Exceptional quality-standards in a product will win out over trendy packaging every time with me and although I do love a good glitter-infused tub o' lovely here and there, I adore their sparse but beautifully-shaped and simple presentation in a rich brown jar.
Their commitment to quality and purity combined with exceptional value in products that are divine simply cannot be beat!
I am a bath and body product addict. There: I have said it and thus it becomes real. I have NO desire to work my way through this problem via steps or degrees of separation but rather I will do everything I can to continue to feed my monster and allow it and my shelves to grow even fatter and sassier!
I will buy just about anything within reason to try once but with the mind-boggling selection of containers out there for sale just FULL of yummy and not-so stuff to try, it absolutely must be something truly special for me to re-purchase or to covet a truckload of a product. It's sort of how I feel about men: there are so many to sample BUT, the best ones are well worth keeping on hand.
Never before has a modest, generous, 9.6 oz. tub of pure white cream had me dreaming of a truck FULL of the product it contains parked out back! I could then and at my leisure, simply go out and dip my pail into the fluffy and use it lavishly to my heart's content secure in the knowledge that I wouldn't be without it any time soon!
Upper Canada's "Coarse Salt Scrub" is the rather imprecise name of this MUCH coveted product I am currently using by the mere tablespoon because I simply don't wan to take a bath without it this week (I have more on order,
) Pure white, the texture of whipped heavy cream or dense vanilla custard, this scrub is literally my idea of nirvana in a modest dress/jar! Crafted from mineral-rich dead sea salts, avocado, soy, and olive oils, and having the delightful distinction of also being SLS, synthetic dye, and paraben free, it's just SO damn perfect I can hardly stand it...
You simply scoop out a handful (tablespoon for me this week only...) and proceed to exfoliate any body-part you feel might need a bit more love that day: it's beyond-creamy, rich and heavy, moist and dreamy, and honestly leaves your skin SO perfectly re-hydrated and smooth that you'll think you're using THE highest-priced spa-secreted product that is only whispered about and available to the special among us!
It retails for...gulping in disbelief here....$16.00 a tub and when I say it's THE BEST scrub/body exfoliator ever, believe that I have tried enough of them to know. :) Not crumbly like the "sugar scrubs" can be and not scratchy like some with beads or buffers can be....this one simply does it's job perfectly and better than anticipated and to me,the "coarse salt" name is not accurate as you do NOT feel the salt working it's magic but the results prove it's the best at what it does!
I simply can't get enough of it and keep trying to find new "places" that need smoothing over!
Have I mentioned the SCENT of this dream-product? It's available in 5 scents according to company info but I have the "Pressed Olive Avocado" version clutched greedily in my hands and let me tell you, it's like sitting in an olive-grove in THE most beautiful spot on earth you can imagine having a perfect glass of wine with Al Pacino (younger or older version, you pick! :) while a cool ocean-breeze infused with just a bit of lush greenery wafts by.
It's that freakin' good.
It scents the tub, the water, and best of all (and I LOVE this part!) the scent lingers on your skin for ever so long. I am like some sort of primal-animal sniffing and caressing my elbows repeatedly while watching TV after a bath. (Visual not available in all areas...)
I simply can't say enough about the goodness of this stuff and if you don't try another new product this year, try this one and you can buy it here AT SEARS!! It could be right at home at Neiman's or Barney's but no Sears!
Have you ever found true love in a tub? What bath/body product do you wish you could have an endless supply of? Can you believe you can find this line used at Sears! Woohoo!

Sears... so wierd, I never even think about sears anymore... and when I do I think of tools.this scrub sounds fantastic though and I LOVE scrubs. I have to exfoliate quite often as tanning dries the skin and speeds dead skin accumulation.
And at this price and for that amount sounds like a keeper ;)

LOL "I never even think about sears anymore...and when I do I think of tools" I never go into Sears anymore, I just may have to, I would love to try this product!
Same here. In fact, a lot of them have closed around here. We Megheads may keep them in business by buying this stuff there :D
Yeah we have one in our mall and the only time I go in there is for auto care. Might have to give it a second glance next time though!
This stuff sounds amazing, I can't believe it's sold at Sears! I'll have to check if I can pick some up at my local one.
This is something I'm going to need to buy...like...yesterday.

I agree with you punkydew. When I think of Sears I think of tools too. That's where I get all my dad's tools for Christmas. This might have to do with the fact that the Sears near us only carries tools and appliances, though. This stuff sounds awesome. I will have to order some before winter. I'm currently using a bar soap that naturally exfoliates in it. It works great now but during the winter my skin gets really dry (think of a crocodile) and I'm not sure if the soap will cut it.I don't really have a major thing I want in truckloads. I love to just try things and move on. I agree that there are just too many wonderful things out there. I do however use the same plain old Dove Bar Soap in the shower. Have fun dancing in the rain and splashing in the puddles! It's too chilly here to play if it rains.
Anything with Dead Sea Salts grabs my attention, so I'm going to order this in the Vanilla Fig scent. I'm also intrigued by their Gourmet Kitchen line in the Wasabi Green Tea scent. Thanks for posting about this very interesting brand!
I can't get enough of soap and glory flake away. It comes in a huge kitch pink tub and it lasts forever and has the gorgeous s&g scent. Its amazing to use on your legs before fake tan, as it gets rid of all the dead skin and leaves skin soft and smooth. On its own i find it a little too harsh for use on my arms so i mix it with dove body wash to make it creamier and gentle.
GO GET THIS STUFF, RRRRRRIGHT NOW. The Goddess does not lie......I am shocked. It's so unsuspecting, sitting there with it's natural tones. At first, I had neither good nor bad expectations (pure ignorance), and then I tried it. I don't think I'll ever be without this scrub. It has also convinced me that I am definitely a salt scrub kinda girl as opposed to a sugah scrubber. The exfoliating properties are as close to perfect as you can get. Zero irritation. It must be perfectly pH balanced as well because the moisturizing element is unreal. How? The avocado must be behind it all! I really can't say enough about how different yet totally perfect this product is. GEM, you really must try this, you won't regret it. You know why.......
Hi Meg,I LOVE this scrub!!!
Debi♥
Granny this sounds amazing and if you are the connosieur of bath products as you say, then this has to be one of the best! I absolutely love salt and sugar scrubs, even though they can be irritating, because of the exfoliation that my skin really needs from being dry constantly and plus the oils that are rubbed in while you're rubbing on the salt and sugar leave my skin uber moisturized. If this is a step up to that then I'm in. I'm trying it asap. Thanks Granny!

I have actually purchased other products by this company, I think I have a lime mint hand cream floating around here somewhere that I really, really love the scent and performance of. And I purchased it another place you don't expect to find beauty products you would actually try and love -- Crackel Barrel. I was browsing in the retail store after breakfast on a family trip to the Outer Banks, and they had a tester, the scent was so wonderful I had to buy it.
canada!whoooot, repreeesent.will check this out (:
Seriously, Sears? I can't remember the last time I even set foot in a Sears, but I might have to change that now. :)
I'm a discount shopper for everything! I shop around and am willing to wait months to find something at a price point I can afford to indulge. It's nice that this is available at Sears however it's too pricey for a scrub. Heheh, I think of all the makeup I could get for that $! ;D
Ooh, I love a nice body scrub! I am actually looking at making some home-made ones with ingredients from the supermarket when I have some free time! There's nothing like a pampering scrub to really wake up your senses. Great article!
As nice as this product looks and sounds, I doubt it's available where I live nor capable of getting it to me at a reasonable price
Lanz - Its tough being here in Australia isn't it? I've got the possibility of heading over to the US next year and I'd be definately filling up my two bags with all fantastic beauty products!!Anywho, as I've mostly used my body brush and microfibre cloth for exfoliation I think I've forgotten how great a good body scrub is. Maybe I need to be on the hunt for a great Australian one?!
for years i never had a bath tub.. just a shower.. so now i dont even THINK about taking a bath because i didnt have one for so long! Ill definatly have to get back to those bath roots! haha
i would like to find a nice body scrub, we kinda just stopped buying body scrubs... and now i'm stuck with soap, thank god my friend rushed over with a bottle of body wash after hearing that. also a good scrub for my face, i still get the odd pimple here and there, quite annoying!

i have been trying 'this one' and 'that one' in search of the perfect scrub........and none of them too nice because its hard to justify spending even $5 if i'm not sure how good it will be....i think this may be my answer :)

I like a lot the Sephora`s Strawberry scrub. It smells great!
i haven't tried many scrubs because i felt they were all too scratchy..what do i know..this sounds so rich and nice :)
salt scrubs really sting my skin i like to take a small cup of sugar in the shower with me to use with my showergel-love it!
Great review!! Thank you. I guess I need check out sears.com...
i am an addict to all bath and body stuff but the product i cherish the most is the scrub. i love to scrub and polish my body and do it diligently every day. I tried salt scrubs but unfortunately my skin stings sometimes from them. I much prefer sugar based scrubs because they usually come in foodie scents (unlike salt that tends to come in citrus scents). Best sugar scrubs i tried would be Victoria Secret (amazing scents and quality) and Sugar Crush from Soap and Glory (Target)- it smells like lime margarita and it is heavenly on my body!
Any bath product with dead sea salt is wonderful to me. They are one of my weak spots. These scrubs are so, so tempting... I might just have to splurge on one (the honey nectar and vanilla and fig ones sound particularly tempting!) I just love how salt scrubs can transport you to the beach through aromatics =)
Great sounds i love scrub for dry skin !!! Perfect Fot me !!!
I normally don't buy scrubs because it is difficult for me to find a consistency that works for me, but I'm someone who gets congested pores easily (everywhere, ugh) so I need to exfoliate regularly. One day I will find the perfect product, right? But it made me laugh to think you smelling yourself all day long. I think we've all done that. I remember when I first smelled D&G's Light Blue in a sample card in a Sephora catalog. I rubbed it all over my arms, and allllll day I kept finding reasons to move my arms in front of my face. People probably thought I had some problems.
i love scrubs. they feel amazing to the skin. i like how sometimes scrubs tickles/hurts but the outcome is soo good. i love love love it. and sea salt scrubs are even better.
Goddess Granny, you have just made my day!I do live near a Sears and my hubby loves the Craftsman tool department so I can coax him to go with me this weekend with no problems. I hope they have the salt srub in store. I checked out the scents and I picked out two that I am dying to try out:-Naturally Sweet Vanilla Fig-Cranberry Moro Orange
I just ran out of my scrub and will be going to the mall later this week. I have never tried a salt scrub, but will definitely look into it at Sears, I usually only walk through (there is better parking at Sears). I can't wait to try it!
Sears?! Woah, I need to get me some of this. I love body scrubs. Right now I have some Chagrin Valley soaps with salt scrubs in them and I love them but sometimes they can be a bit too scratchy.
Upper Canada will be on sale for 30% off at The Bay *Canada only* this weekend!Happy Bay Days Everyone!!!
I absolutely LOVE this scrub! I was in Canada last week and was able to scoop this up at Hudson Bay and got the 30% discount. So it was a fabulous product - and they practically GAVE it away! Anyway, I got the olive/avocado one also, and used it with abandon. It was my first time with this product and I just couldn't deprive any of my skin. So here I am, the next day, and I have fabulously soft, smooth skin. Ladies - get this stuff. I'm not kidding. You will love it.

I have definitely found true love in a tub before. Taking a nice long hot bath is so relaxing is so fun. I could take a hot bath every day and be in heaven, even without (gasp) any fancy beauty products. But unfortunately I currently do not have a bathtub:( I wish I could have an endless supply of a great scenting but sparkly body wash.
