JOINING OF HERBS TONER!
Sharond here! Lately I have been reading that a lot of our dear Megheads have been asking what to do about facial skin problems, whether it is acne, black heads, rosacea and more. Earlier this year I wrote about toner from a relatively unknown company called Joining of Herbs. You can read the couples story on their website. Since that article was posted several of you have tried their toner have been telling glowing stories of the improvement of their skin. Stylemama, Sweetass Gal, Gigi, Kellie and Tantejoan have all advised everyone to give them a try. Gigi pointed out that it also works just as good on men, making this even more versatile. I thought I would run this article again so all our new members can learn about this gem.
Here is the original article that was posted in January.
I am a person who has always put my money in facial products that are suppose to do something, erase lines, brighten, lift or whatever. I ignored the toner or bought a cheaper brand as I figured it was really not the important part of a beauty routine. Sometimes I felt ordinary witch hazel could do the job. In the last couple years I have been buying the better toners and still did not notice any great improvement.
A couple weeks before Christmas, I went way out east of where I live to a small one stop sign town to find a little store that supposedly sells exceptional organic and therapeutic products and handmade gifts all created by locals. I was pleasantly surprised by the store, but was ecstatic to discover there were items by Joining of Herbs. I had met this couple last summer at the farmers market when they were just starting their business. Armed with a whole batch of new face and body products they now sell their items at this store to supplement their mail order business. After I gushed over bath salts, bath butters, massage oils, inhaling the therapeutic essential oils, I decided to buy the toner among other items.
At the shop I did not open the toner and when I went to use it that first night, I almost lost my breath. I was not prepared for the strong vinegary, tea tree oil scent. I used it anyway and decided to give this toner a try and see if there was any benefit. Faithfully twice a day after cleansing I put some of this toner on a cotton ball and dabbed my face and neck, let dry and then went with my normal routine of serums and moisturizers. I did get used to the vinegary scent as it reminded me of my mother pouring vinegar over our hair when we were children as a conditioning rinse. After about a week I noticed my face was smooth and exceptionally clean. A few days later, I met a friend for lunch and she asked if I had just had “breakfast in bed” because I looked so radiant. How can a toner do that? As I kept using this product I found other benefits on my skin. My pores look smaller, the telltale blackheads are gone, skin is soft and tightened but not dry, and my turkey neck is less noticeable. I also find that I am using less makeup and can now skip the concealer under my eyes. My makeup also seems to last longer without needing touchups.
This toner comes in a 4 ounce bottle for under $5.00; is made with vinegar, tea tree oil, essential oils and witch hazel and is moisturized by a secret ingredient called by its Native American name of Se’na Oi’na. Joining of Herbs is a line of all-natural skin care products using 100% therapeutic grade essential oils and has no synthetic chemicals, dyes or fillers in their blends. I have ordered products by mail and they arrived well packaged in three to five days. Tyler and Sara are the developers of these products and reminded me they are for therapeutic use versus scenting your body. If you have questions, they welcome calls or emails and will customize products for your special needs.
I suggest anyone looking for a new younger face for the New Year to give this inexpensive but wonderful product a try.
How many of you have tried Joining of Herbs toner and what were your results?

I've never heard of this toner but oh my gosh, after that review I need to check them out! Currently I use 100% tea tree oil right out of the bottle on my face twice a day. Initially there was an intense burning sensation that has since subsided and left just the intense cooling sensation. There was also some major drying that has also gone away as my skin has adjusted. I'm so glad TTO is around because I love it and can't believe I've gone so long without it. Vinegar as a toner? Hmm, definitely need to check that out! What a great price point, too. Most skin care is too expensive but this sounds just right.
hm.. for some reason i always think toners are for people with acne or oily skin...did Joining of Herbs have toners for those of us with drier skin?

The website says it's $6.95
I just checked out the website and everything looks FABULOUS . . .I am curious . . .WHO has ordered from this company and what did they get?
I only recently too discovered the importance of a good toner. It's amazing how much make up is left on my skin after a good washing, a toner takes care of that and helps me feel fresh. I currently use Lush's a Breath of Fresh Air, but it's a bit pricey and this sounds just as great and just as natural!
I LOVE THE TONER! I have told many friends about this line and they all end up loving it just as much as I do. My dear friends CUGO123 uses the toner as well and has had great success. (Don't worry, even though the scent is strong, you get used to it and the results are well worth it. I don't mind the scent, natural products smell nice to me but a few have commented on it in the past.) The customer service is also impeccable. I emailed the owner with questions about my daughter's complexion and I received a response immediately. These are just the kind of people you want to do business with.Sometimes, the answers to complex skin concerns are actually pretty simple and even (in this case) completely affordable!
Wow, sounds amazing! I am opening their site as I type this...
I have ordered from them multiple times and will continue doing so! This company is amazing!! So far I have only ordered the wonderful toner and cleanser. They are both outstanding products. I continue to experience great results with their products. And these are not just products for oily or acne prone skin. I tend to have combination skin that also gets dry and sensitive. This toner and cleanser does not irritate my skin at all. Give this company a try. You will not be sorry. I look forward to trying more of their products.
WHOA. Shipping to my costs 10.95. It said its gonna cost me $17.90Holy craaaaaaaap.
After ignoring toners for so long, I have recently started using one and have noticed a significant difference in my skin. My skin is dry and I use a toner before putting on my serums and moisturizer. I will give this one a try when I run out of the one I have which will be soon.
I haven;t tried Joining of Herbs toners, but I tried the Body SHop Tea Tree Oil Toner and it works really good (for oil or skin with acne especailly). But it does smell pretty bad.
So I'm just now getting into makeup and skin care, and one thing I apparently need is toner for my huge pores. I would buy this, but it's actually $6.95, not $5, and shipping is $3. I'd rather get Dickinson's toner for that price.
this sounds fantastic, i'm always looking for herbal/organic face wash/cleanser etc. The colour is interesting, very herb like i suppose. I will definitely check this out :)

I just started using LUSH's tea tree water toner and haven't noticed a difference yet, so I can't say I'm sold on toner in general! Maybe when I finish my bottle of Tea Tree Water (and if I'm still unimpressed with it) I'll give this a try!
never heard of this but im willing to try anything to get my skin to stop being so oily right now. ANNOYING!

Thanks for rerunning this article, I wasn't around for it the first time! I neglect toner in my routine, too, so thanks for the info!
Thanks for putting this article up again, I wasn't here to see it the first time. The prodcuts sound very interesting and I will check it out
wow! Thank you for reposting the review!!!!
Since I wrote the article the first time, prices have gone up. I think more than likely their costs for supplies have gone up causing a ripple effect. $6.95 still a great price for any beauty product. Postage is one of those charges I hate to pay. However, we owned a business and had to ship a lot of packages and we sure found out how time consuming it can be. The supplies again for shipping are not always cheap though the post office is now offering to pick up packages and deliver supplies, some free. I finally accepted that unless I can get it locally, I have to pay shipping. Other times it is worth it to pay shipping just to save me the hassle of shopping. If anyone has more questions, please ask.Melilala: I have dry skin and found this toner works wonders. It seemed to moisturize my skin. I don't know if it was the toner that did that or because my skin was clean and natural ph so the moisturizer I put on could work better. My routine is remove makeup, wash, toner, serums and then moisturize. a-banger: My 24 year old niece has very oily skin, at times with acne, and this product helped her a lot. She found it better than Proactive which she now says was very hard on her skin.

Seriously 6.95 is NOT that much!! And 3 dollars for shipping is incredibly cheap too! unless you are international.Im gonna think about this toner when my clinique one starts getting low. I have the acne control toner and its just not.... doing any acne control.Im worried about the smell... Im sure ill get used to it, and it wouldnt be bad at night, but many time in the morning Ill use my toner for a quick cleanse before my day and I dont want to smell like vinegar for a good part of the morning.
Tan is Love
I've heard about using straight Apple Cider Vinegar on your skin for reducing redness and help getting rid of discoloration, so everything that you've listed in the ingredients makes total sense. This sounds like the company has really put a lot of research and trial/error into their products. Have to love that and those prices look amazing! Toner is something I do everyday, twice a day and people don't realize how important it can be for anyone, not just acne prone. I'm excited to try this, thanks for re-posting it :)

Oh, this sounds absolutely awesome. :DI'm already onto a winning exfoliant and toner in one by a company called Uskincare - it's known as Renewal exfoliating tonic, and I swear by it. It has tiny exfoliating bits within the goop that is suitable for even the most sensitive skin, as well as being refreshing and the most perfect make-up base.I too have noticed regular toner use has improved my pores and break-outs. Viva la toner! :D
Never heard of this brand. I'm generally quite sceptical about skin care products, they all claim the same thing! Yet most of the time it's all marketting, I do my research when it comes to skin care :)
Never heard of this brand either and I don't use toners so no good for me !!!
never heard of this brand ani i dont normally like toners ( i have never felt there was much point to them) but this sounds great and for under $5 you cant go wrong can you?! smaller pores?! count me in!!!
sounds great for under 5.00
im currently using a Bigelow Clay toner but it doesnt work as good as i hope, so maybe I will be trying this one next :) I love that it is a small company and uses natural ingredients
Sucks that I'm not in the US, I desperately need that toner!
I never heard and never try Joining of Herbs toner !!!
i love toners. i just recently started using toners and they really are amazing. and these products sound amazing.
I use a toner every day (at night). I will absolutely be buying from this company. I like that it was just a couple who opened up this on their own.I am going over to investigate their website right now.

I love toner and deal with acne, this sounds like a win win between me and joining of herbs toner! Thanks so much for the review!
Ok I just ordered the toner from the website and I can't wait to get it in. I'm really hoping it will help with the pores/blackheads on my nose. Let you know :)

I remember when you originally reviewed this and I was intrigued at the time but was using another toner. I'm glad you wrote about them again because my toner is going to be empty by the end of the week and I've been looking for something new to try. I just ordered it (cost $9.70 after shipping - not too bad) so I'll report back!
though the scent does sound offputting, anything that gives smaller pores and removes blackheads is worth the trouble

The website describes the toner as "A gentle astringent skin toner containing pure essential oils and witchhazel. A slight citrus scent." Vinegar does not just smell slightly "citrus". Is it still the same thing (or am I looking at the wrong item??)? Looking forward to more reviews from Megheads :)
Cupcakes it does have a citrusy smell to it and the vinegar odor is also noticeable but its not a scent that lingers. After I use it my skin feels really clean, but not dry and I have noticed a difference on the pores on my nose and chin, which is huge. The smell can be off-putting but with the results I saw in my pores and the results I'm hoping for with the oil control it doesn't bother me.

oily and breakout prone with remaining scars leftover, just got this the other day, the smell is a bit "in your face" BUT am excited to include it in my daily routine...averaging out to $10 with shipping, not bad a'tall, considering my current toner costs $32!
oh and I remember reading the original post and wanting to order but forgot, thanks for the reminder :)
i should try this
I'd love to try this!
This looks awesome!!! it seems it has great ingredients.. i just made my own vinegar toner.. here is the recipe if you're interested got it off gardenofwisdom website.. Makes 1 ounce(This is the version I suggest making because you will go through it so quickly and only need to make it once per week)1/4 tsp vinegar to 1 oz liquid (liquid can be a number of things i used water but lots use aloe)1 gram vinegar to 30 grams liquid1 ml vinegar to 30 ml liquidpreservative if you wish
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
I stop using toner after I was told that toner is a waste of money coz our skin actually dont need this step...well, I won't say you shouldn't use toner but I was just told like that and I believe it. I find it more or less the same after cutting toner in my daily skincare...
Wow! Under $5? What a great price! I could see this is totally worth it. I love that it's all natural to, natural is good.
