ENHANCE YOUR EYES WITH VISIONAIRE BY HOURGLASS
MissRo here! If there is one product I cannot have enough of, it's eye shadow. I wear a different eye shadow color everyday. Sometimes it's something very muted and natural, sometimes it's very colorful if I'm wearing all black, or sometimes it's a very dark, smoldering eye if I'm going out to an event.
My hubby always says to me "I like you with little or no makeup". However, how can a woman go with little, to no makeup when we have all of these amazing brands with amazing products out there!
I remember when I bought the first Sephora Blockbuster palette. It had something like 64 eye shadows, 20 lip glosses, 6 blushes, and the list went on. When that package arrived at my place and I opened it, my husband took one look at it, then looked at me, and shook his head.
If that wasn't enough, a couple of weeks later a purchased a mini Too-Faced eye shadow palette, because the shadows were bold, bright, and full of glitter!
So, the newest eye shadow palette I just got is Hourglass' Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Prism. LOVE IT! One side has this rich, black matte shadow with glitter to create an amazing, sexy, smokey eye. The other side is a rich, deep silver grey, great for a lighter smokey eye or great to enhance the crease for a day look. You can use both colors together or each color separate to pair with the other shadows you already use.
Hourglasses' packaging is also quite beautiful. The eye shadow duo comes in a light copper case. The mirror actually swivels around in any direction. It comes with a brush, which I always like, so when you need to do a quick touch up, you have a brush to do it with! The consistency of the shadows is like satin. They have a rich, gorgeous texture that makes applying the shadow so easy. You can also apply the shadows wet or dry depending upon how intense you want the color to look. The best part though is that it's made with no sulfates, fragrance, or phthalates.
I checked out all the colors before deciding upon Prism. So, if you are looking for dark, black, smokey eyes get Prism. For something more natural and earthy either Dune or Gypsy. If you want a splash of color, choose either Laggon or Exhibition. And finally for everyday, soft, natural eyes get Suede.
Check out the whole Hourglass line here. You can purchase Visionaire Eyeshadow Duo on their website, at Barneys.com or Sephora.com.
Are you familiar with Hourglass? Are you a dark, smokey eye girl, or everyday natural? What are some of your favorite eye shadows?

I've never heard of Hourglass. My favorite eye shadow is Raw Sugar from Everyday Minerals. It was issued as a blush, but it was a beautiful brownish, coppery color, unlike anything I've ever seen.Men have no clue about how much makeup it takes to look natural!
I am so smitten with Stila Kitten and Golightly. They are truly my go-to combination for naturally beautiful eyes. Honestly, I never thought to buy expensive eyeshadow before. But the quality of the Stila really has turned me around. I am dying to ride the Nars eyeshadow love train now!
The colour of the picture is pretty much my favourite colour of eyeshadow, just natural, but still sexy. I love it!
i cant particularly wear eyeshadow but i would love to get this for a friend who does
"the mirror swivels in any direction". I would buy this product on that fact alone, although the shadows do look beautiful enough to also buy them because of that.
I usually do a light highlight shade all over (beige, pink, gold, etc.) with a neutral shade on the lid and/or as a liner. Once in a while I'll mix it up and do something a little brighter but not usually for daytime!
I've never heard of hourglass before. Looks nice. Lately my eyes are a bit more colorful than natural but not all out smoky.
the one in the picture is such a beautiful, luxurious shade!

I tottally agree!!!! Men always say that like it scpres them brownie points or something.... guess what... it doesn't and we're gonna spend all our money on it anyway!I love eyshadows... I have soooo many its definittally..... 2/3rds of my makeup collection at least!! lol sad but true.I wear different colors depending on my day or my outfit or my mood. Most of the time I wear a pinkish nude color. Sparly is definittally a plus. And if im working I like to wear green eyeshadow because it matches the starbucks apron! But I love to get crazy with my eyes.... although finding a highly pigmented eyeshadow is rare...and im always on the lookout.I havnt heard of hour glass, but it sounds like it would be a welcomed addition to my colection :D

Hourglass products look so pretty! Very pricey though. I've seen their little section at Sephora, everything seems really high quality. The brushes especially look amazing. I love playing with different eyeshadows, my latest obsession is my UD BoS II :)
Awesome review! Although I'm a Sephora addict, I'm not familiar with the company Hourglass, hmmm.... maybe because I didn't pay too much attention to other eyeshadow palettes other than MAC, Kat von D or Nars, e.g. . I'm definitely a smokey-eye-aholic *lol* and am constantly looking for improvements and changes on this look. Thank you so much for this tip, I will definitely be looking into it:-).

im not familiar with hourglass, but the shadows look very pretty and neutral like what i would you on a daily basis, although usually i just go without eyeshadow, but i'm starting to get the hang of it now.I like the natural looks, so i don't usually have many flamboyant looks with coloured shadows. my fav shadows are probably nude shimmer shades and browns!

My favorite is HELLO GORGEOUS by Cat Cosmetics. It is great for travel and very versatile!Although, I will be honest. Now that I have seen that hourglass I do want it!!
After looking at that photo for a very long time, I may have to go get some. I have a huge weakness for eyeshadow.
Miss Ro, I can totally see your husband looking at you and shaking his head because Stylepapa does the exact same thing to me. I loved your description!Great review, I've always been tempted by this line, perhaps you've given me just the excuse to indulge. I bet the duo you chose makes your pretty brown eyes pop. xoxo
I am completely smitten with this product line. My gateway into Hourglass Cosmetics was their legendary Extreme Sheen lipgloss, which is very long lasting, and amazingly non-sticky. Soon after, their Calligraphy Liquid Eye Liner Pens and Island Color Link palette found their way into my makeup stash, and I loved those, as well. However, my absolute favorite Hourglass product is their spectacular waterproof powder bronzer. It's matte, looks completely natural, and yes...it actually, truly IS waterproof! This is a pricey brand, but all the products are first rate, so it feels like you are getting value for your money.
That eyeshadow pallette looks so good. I really like the swivel mirror feature. I'm an eyeshadow girl - basic makeup for me has to include at least 1 light colour on the lids. For everyday I'm fairly natural, but I like to go more dramatic when going out. My favourite colours come from Everyday Minerals - they are Diary, a shimmery lavendar colour, Hot Chocolate, a light brown with a pearly finish (everyday favourite!) and In the Garden, a beautiful chocolate brown with flecks of gold/green shimmer.
I LOVE hourglass products. It's one of my favorite lines, although because of the price I don't get to indulge myself with it as much as MAC. I may have to get these eyeshadows though, the picture is absolutely gorgeous.
One day i will learn how to do make up! .. For me its just kinda a quick swipe of pink or something like that!! Most of the time people dont even realize i wear make up! These are really cute colors though! Thank you for the review!
My eyeshadow is constantly changing, I don't like getting stuck in a rut, I like variety. My absolute favorite eyeshadows at the moment are the Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette. The shadows are so silky and blendable. Plus you get 88 shades for like $25 I think!

i like to use little to no makeup but sometimes i'm tempted to look like dolly or liza because i have so many cool things that i keep on purchasing with no end in sighti love hourglass because i think their package is genius. the mirror twists around!!! reminds me of when cameras came out with the twist around viewing screen. i was in sephore twisting these badboys for a while before i even started to check out the product. i think it has a magically delicious soft application. none of which makes my visa happy but really - who asked them?

I am a big fan of eyeshadow palettes and duos etc. There are some wack colour combos out there, but in general in makes coordinating shadows much easier. The eyeshadows from this company look beautiful!I like to change it up between more natural and dramatic eyeshadows but I don't think I ever go over the top. My favourite colours are purples and browns to go with my green eyes!
I have heard of Hourglass but I gave never tried their products before. I will have to give this one a shot. My fave eyeshadows have to be MAC the consistency never fails and they have so many colors to choose from. Usually I'm a natural eyeshadow kind of girl but I always pair it with a black eyeliner, thats just how I am. Sometimes I will change it up and use purple eyeliner or I will go for a dark eyeshadow depending on my mood. Right now I am wearing MAC paint pot in Groundwork (totally neutral looking for a blah tues at work!!!)
I love eye shadow and always change based on my moods, the weather, my tan, the season, my clothes...I could go on and on!This is a great combo, I love smoky grays and dark and light browns together. I have a similar palate from L'Oreal and use it a lot!
I love the swivel feature!! I've never heard of this company before but I do love Sephora. I just purchased Smashbox Glow/Getter dual eyeshadow for $5 and I love the shades, I'm such a neutral gal. I cant get too dramatic since I'm very fair. I just love eyeshadow in general! Thanks for the review on this company, I'm off to check them out!
There's three things I have promised not to buy more off, but I keep buying anyhow: conditioner & shampoo (how can you buy one part, without getting the corresponding other half?), soap and, yes, eye shadows. Luckily, another brand that is not readily available to me or I would have had to have this palette too! ;)Usually, I'm a brown and peaches girl. Don't know why. But when I see a brown, champagne or peach colour I just go: "Have to have it!" Then I spend a week or so trying to justify the purchase before I give in.
I have never heard of hourglass before but just checked out their site-gorgeous! the deep blue on the visionaire eyeshadow duo is beautiful!has anyone tried the self tanning primer that sounds interesting!
I like to use more muted colors, soft browns or very neutral greys and apply it the same way I would do a smokey eye. First a not to shimmery vanilla or creme color and then apply the darker color in the crease and then blend towards my eyebrow and the edge of my eye. Also rubbing some through my lower lash line. I work where I pretty much don't see anyone so thats my barest look for my eye. At night though watch out. Miss Ro I will definitely check that out for those times I go out, thank you!
Style may be on the surface, but you can be deep and still have some - Clarissa Gough
Never heard of Hourglass. That compact is nice looking! I love neutral colours. I'm definitely a natural look girl but I've been forcing myself out of my comfort zone to experience everything colour has to offer. I've been rocking a honeydew green shimmer that looks amazing.
this sounds devine!! I am a Sephora junkie, and I love, love, love eyeshadows...this one sounds wonderful. I too love to wear different eyeshadows everyday!
I have a weakness for eye-shadows as well, MissRo. I have a drawer full of pallettes and samples of pigments and brushes. My favourite look is the colourful smokey eye gradiating from the light 'pop' at the inner corners and getting progressively darker in tone to the outer edge of the eyes and up toward the brows. I adore experimenting with colour on my eyes, and I very rarely wear the same eye-shadow blend twice!
Hourglass is new to me. My current fav is kayak from everyday minerals! Pretty
the picture looks so luxurious..so rich and velvety, i want that
I think I'm going to have to buy this!
never heard of this brand before but for some reason i like the name :)I have dark green eyes so I love playing up my color by using purples or wine or gold shadows....
I only wear bright eyeshadows when the occasion calls for it, otherwise I'm an all neutral girl. I only own palettes like the Coastal Scents 28 neutral palette and the Lancome Safari Palette. My bright shadows are mineral based because they're cheaper and I don't use them often.
i love smokey eyes for party and natural tone for everyday !!
My boyfriend gives me the same look whenever a Sephora box is dropped off by our lovely UPS man. He simply doesn't understand why I need 20 eyeliners or lip products. He doesn't get that they are all "different". But I give him the same look about football. So I guess we're even.I usually end up with a natural eye look. Smashbox eye primer, MAC Painterly Paint Pot, an ivory color on lids, light brown in crease, and white as a highlight (I'm super pale, so the white doesn't look harsh), black eyeliner and mascara. I love smokey looks, but I have never been able to do it without looking like I have a black eye.
i like the eyeshadow colors. their neutral and it's good for everyday wear.
I love all of those pairs. They look awesome. I am a huge eye shadow girl so I have a ton of e/s. I wear a different one everyday. What I wear depends on my mood and on what I am wearing. I love wearing grean e/s because it really brings out my eyes.

wow, looove those colors.thanks for the article!
wow, these look amazing! But $28 is a bit steep when I already have over 100 shadows, if I am not nearing 200. LOL I need more eyelids.
LOVE IT! My ex boyfriend always called mascara 'that black goopy stuff'. Too bad it's my favorite product!
Love eyeshadow-----actually love ANY MAKEUP!!
I love neutrals! But when I go to a sporting event I love to rock my teams colors, I also love playing with colors just for fun. Currently my fave shadows are a Wet and Wild Palette in Paradise Cove. It's a palette with neutrals and purples and it's just gorgeous.
For everyday I like neutrals but for the night I love smokey eye. I think that darker colors make my eyes look more beautiful and more sexy.My favorite eyeshadows are MAC.
I've always admired the Hourglass products in Sephora - their packaging is just SO luxurious! However, I have to admit that not only have I never purchased anything from them, but I've never tried anything either. I'll go try it next time I'm in the local Sephora - and unfortunately that's wayyyy too soon for my wallet's sake haha!
xoxo
I'd love to get my hands on some Hourglass products, they look amazing. At the moment I'm loving cream eye shadows, one of my favorites is Bobbi Brown Cement.

I can't live without eye shadow either. I can't really do bold colours or heavy smokies on an everyday basis but I like to kink up my pretty neutrals with plum, navy, gold or khaki eye liner.
