JOEY NEW YORK "STATE OF THE ARCH" EYEBROW
Stylemama here! I am obsessed with eyebrows. Or, if you are fluent in toddler-speak, you might call them eyebrowns. I have serious eyebrow envy. When I spy a woman with great looking, full, perfectly groomed, natural eyebrows I want to run up to her and beg her to never over-tweeze or allow an inexperienced hand near her precious treasure. Eyebrows are as important to your face as fingers are to hands. Do I exaggerate?
My eyebrows are decent but nothing to brag about. I'm always on the hunt for tools and products that transform my "less-thans" to "more-thans" in the most natural manner possible. You skinny hairs are going to love my latest find.
But first, have you ever noticed that most brow brushes are kind of big and sometimes difficult to manage? If you haven't it's probably because you have a beautiful lush set of brows and definitely don't need my help. But, if you are like me, you really do need a smaller brush to maintain that 'fake' natural look.
I recently purchased a dual ended, Joey New York 'State of The Arch' Brush for $4.99 form Beautyticket.com. This little beauty offers a mini-angled brush on one end and a mini-square brush on the other. Yep, mini is the word of the day. You can use the angled end for the outer tail of the brow and use the square end to cover larger areas or even turn it on its side for more precise application. The dual options make it work for any (mini) ;) shape or style. I love tools that offer a two-for-one approach. However, this twofer definitely wouldn't work well for any of you above average, abundantly shaped, thick browed, bitches! What? I told you I was jealous, what did you expect? For my hairless sisters, this brush is going to be your new BFF.
You can't beat Beautyticket.com's price or their expedient shipping. We are talking virtual instant gratification. In case you are wondering, the inexpensive price tag definitely does not reflect the quality. It's a well-made tool and this is one time when you can count on getting more than what you paid for. Happiness abounds!
Eyebrow Fun Fact: Did you know that if you dream about eyebrows it could mean that you'll encounter sinister objects in your immediate future? So, what tools are you using to achieve a beautiful if not, sinister brow?

I certainly find that the smaller the brush the easier it is for fixing up my eyebrows. It has only been recently that I've started paying more attention to my brown, and thankfully I started as I have been getting compliments on them. I never thought I'd be so excited to get an eyebrow comment in my life! My tools aren't fancy, I use an old Everyday Minerals eyebrow brush (from over 2 years ago) and some Rimmel Smokey Quartz eyeshadow. Should probably find a better colour but it seems to do the job well for the moment!
I'm with you Alice, I use an old angled brush - bought eons ago - and use my Pop beauty brown shade from my Day to Night set [non shimmery of course]. I gently build the colour as the old adage goes, you can always put more on but you can't take any off. :P
I use an angled liner brush with brown gel eyeliner.
Thank goodness I haven't had any dreams about eyebrows! :PI do not disagree with you at all when you say "Eyebrows are as important to your face as fingers are to hands." I went through that adolescent phase where I had terrible bushy brows, then I overplucked, and now I'm finally figuring out how to deal with them! (They're still a bit sparse, but brow powder fixes 'em right up!)My tools:-Tweezers (any kind, as long as they work. I have half a dozen pairs, because I hate not being able to find some!)-Small scissors (I'm too lazy to use brow gel/wax every day, and trimming them neatly keeps them looking groomed without the grooming).-Brow powder (the most important item, because my brows need a little powder to make them look just right. My fave: Clinique Brow shapers powder).-Smashbox brow brush (I used to just use the little Clinique brushes that come with the brow powder, but they just aren't shaped nicely enough. Smashbox's brow brush is a bit spendy but works PERFECTLY!)

Eyebrows definitely finish off your face and make it look polished! At school I have to try and take care of my brows myself, and I only tidy them up, I am afraid to try and bring out the arch myself. So I am starting to miss my well groomed brows as they start to fill in. Oh well, I will be back to my eyebrow lady soon enough!Lots of eyebrow posts lately! I like reading this stuff because one day I will probably have to work on my brows more than I do now.
I envy those brows ladies as well! My brows are just blahh..completely blahh! I'm currently using the Elf studio line brow kit to kind of fill in my brows and slightly alter their shape. I like the creamy texture of the one side and then the powder texture of the other. Even the little brush that comes with it is pretty good for the price.
I will go and buy this product
My eyebrow brush is an angled thin paint brush that I bought at the art store. It works really well and I have bought other art store brushes to use for other types of makeup application.
I have a serious over-plucking problem. I need my tweezers taken away indefinetly. I hate the look of shag when I try and grow them out. Help!

i need something to fill in my brows a bit but i don't know where to start. i ALMOST bought this brush but don't currently need it
That looks like a great brush, but I try and avoid dual-ended brushes since I store mine upright and that makes it difficult. I just use a pencil most days, but when I use powder I just use a basic Sonia Kashuk brush and it works well.
i am finally catching up on all the articles- thanks grad school :(I dont really have a problem with skinny brows, but I really was blessed with really think Kardashian type brows... I ended up tweezing them in a really bad shape when I was a teen - they were still big but not proportionate. Then I had a waxing nightmare, where the girl had no clue what she was doing... Ok, then my friend with over-tweezed brows decided to "help" me.. Now, I am sort of getting my brows back in shape. I am gettting my brows threaded, and first two women that did my brows made a really high arch (i have a really nice natural arch, not too dramatic)... So, now I am trying a third threader lady who told me to grow my brows back a bit, so she can give me (hopefully!) a natural look... Do I need to fill my brows in? It is usually not a problem. I just hope nobody on this forum had such a crappy experience with their brows!
I have never done eye brow threading. However, I do get them waxed every three weeks or so. I do not tweeze in between waxing. I know most people love tweezing here. I just have to much to tweeze. If anyone knows of a good eye brow threader in the Portland,OR metro area please let me know.
I have pretty bushy brows, but they tend to be blonde-ish, so I dye them with Just for Men facial hair dye in Medium Brown. That coats all the tiny baby hairs too, so I have more to work with when I pluck. I recently bought moustache scissors to trim them too, since I'm broke and can't afford to visit my brow lady anymore. I miss my brow lady. I never had to tell her what to do; she just did it and they looked great. Maybe I'll let my brows grow in and visit her again soon.
Who dreams about eyebrows???? lolI have very minimal dont to my brows. I tweeze a little... cause I dont know what Im doing.I sometimes will use a clear brow gel to smooth them out and sometimes a brow powder to low down the harshness. But usually I just run my brush over them when IM applying my makeup.

I thought I was crazy since I'm always paying attention to people's eyebrows! Some ppl don't know how distracting bad brows can be. I used to get mine waxed, but now I do my own. I worked really hard on perfecting my arch :) I tweeze and trim pretty regularly, mine grow back too fast!
I'm going to go buy it now!!
CHAMP, a TTO patch, THAT is hilarious. Sign me up! Love you too!
*sigh* i don't have any tools for my brows, all i do is pluck insanely! i think i might have over plucked too.I tried using an eyeshadow to cover it up but it just ended up looking with (maybe it's because i used an eyeshadow brush)a brow brush would definitely be handy!
My new Ebay Store: cossiepieMy blog: http://lazyscorner.blogspot.com/
How funny I was trying to order this yesterday and some pixie stuff but the shipping to the UK was $29:95 :-( so I didn't order anything as the shipping was more than my order :-(
i use a revlon eye pencil. I used to love using the models prefere eyebrow pencil but its not available anymore. I need to work on my brows as i only have 1 1/2 due to an unfortunate incident in my teens. The warning "they don't grow back" is true and i'm always striving for a perfect product. I've tried using powder to fill them in but i need to create an eyebrow and not just fill in the gaps so it looks a little fake on me.
I don't use any tools on my eyebrows (other than tweezers). That's not to say I have great brows...I definitely do not. I just ignore them a bit to much. Although, for $4.99 I may just start to take better care of them.

I hate my eyebrows...they are so sparse and i have a scar in one that makes them look more sparse! I currently use the smashbox eyeset with their brush...its a powder and a setting cream--it works ok but nothing great! I used to really love it but it's gotten a bit blah to me lately.
I use tweezers, brow powder, and an angled brow brush or even sometimes a concealer brush (because it is much smaller so I have more control as to where I can place the powder). This twofer sounds like a treat to use!

I wish I needed this ....I'm having to constantly tweeze my eyebrows....alll the time it's annoying.
Brows...sighing here...can't remember if and or when I ever had "nice ones.Always been sparse, unruly, and in general, the bane of my existance! Can I say that stylemama has GORGEOUS ONES??? I complimented her on them when we met! She also has a killer "solution" for trying to get them to grow/fill in and I am trying it.In the meantime,Lorac brow pencil in "Auburn" followed with Mac brow gel in "Girl Boy" saves my day...and my face! :)
Oh dear. This site has a bad influence on me. I am now about to place an order from Beauty Ticket, including this brush! I also ordered two mystery bags, can't wait to find out what is in them!! Cant wait to try the brush though, my eyebrows need some filling in from some misguided plucking.
Bravo Stylemama...Bravo!!
I fill in my brows with Anastasia powder and sometimes the brush is a little too big for me and I start making brows where they shouldn't be. I think this smaller brush would work wonders. I think it would also be great when I am drawing brows on women who have lost them due to chemotherapy. I will order a few of these.
We use toothbrushes during embalming. You have to set the brows in place because the formaldehyde will fix them in whatever direction they are laying at the time of embalming. This is a nice tool. Perhaps it's time to retire the toothbrush for something more precise?
I have thick and dark brows, no sparseness about them. A pain to keep under control though. Never ending maintenance!!!
I use an angled liner brush and sometimes just my eye pencil helena rubinsten for blond hair !!!
I can't leave without !!!
-Sigh- I wish I could get my poor little sis to fix her brows. She had very sparse brows as a kid, then she over plucked as a teen, then she completely removed them and pencils them in with a very dark pencil and the shape is much to large for her face, too.My mom bought her a brow kit with stencils and she complained the shapes looked "old ladyish".I don't wanna get her upset or angry, but if anyone has any suggestions as to how or what I can introduce her to something better... that'd be appreciated!

Maybe try taking her to Sephora for a consultation? They can show her some great products and she might trust a "professional" more than family members.
I also have envy for women with great brows - like Sela Ward. Have you seen her brows? That's my imaginary look. My brows are very sparse and light. Used to be blondish... now I fear they are more grayish. Neither was a good look for me. Pencils look fake to me. I use eyebrow powder and an angled brush, currently Anastasia. I think it looks pretty decent, but I haven't achieved greatness yet. So I'm leaning toward buying this Joey brush - especially at that price. Thanks for letting us know about it!

OH MAN!!! I LOVE MY EYEBROW KIT!!! lol my eyebrows have the whole, "see right through me" thing going on, i have to utilize my eyebrow kit everytime a special occasion comes around. But other than that, I'm pretty plain Jane!

The Joey brush sounds like a great steal to me, although I prefer my mini Stila brush for doing my eyebrows. I always start with eyebrow pencil to give more definition, then fill up/in with brown and black eyeshadow. Simple, but effective. I once had naturally nicely shaped brows, but I guess I ruined a lot due to overplucking. Well, the price you pay. But I do recommend the Stila mini eyebrow brush. They once had it for sale at beautyticket or beautycrush, I can't remember.

You never really realize how important your eye brows are until your not there! A couple years ago my cousin was trying to Shave them.. and took them completely off on accident! .. Very strange looking! haha
i am a little obsessed with my eyebrows so i use brow enhancers to fix the areas that are sparse. this brush looks amazing.
I struggle to find good colors and tools for my eyebrows, and I was cleaning out my makeup drawers the other day when I noticed an older NYX eyeliner pencil in brown in the deep dark depths. After a spin in the sharpener I tried it on my brows and it is perfect! So cheap and perfect. Oh and I follow up with ELF clear brow gloss and am very happy with the results.
I think brows are very important. I depilate my brows every week to shape them. When I`ve got time to make up quietly, on weekends for example, I draw them with a brown eyeshadow and an angled brush.
All i really do is shape my eyebrows. I get them done by threading! I know sounds painful and believe me it is but its the best way and looks great! Everybody always asks me how i do it.
I have naturally thick eyebrows so all I do (if I ever get the chance, it seems like I'm perpetually busy right now!!) is shape my eyebrows - there's no need for me to fill them in. So I guess my tool of trade is the nasty TWEEZERS!
xoxo
That looks like the perfect eye brown brush. I too find the larger brushes difficult to work with. In my opinion eye brows make a huge difference to the look of my face.

I never do anything to my brows! I just keep them neat, but they have a nice natural shape that is quite well defined already on its own, and as I have really dark hair, I don't need to do any filling in. I've never found a brow colour that was dark enough anyway!
I'm just skimming old posts and this one jumped out at me because I think I need that brush! I find most eyebrow brushes are too big and too soft. Often they make them to double as liner brushes but my brows deserve their own brushes. My brows are naturally sparse and several shades lighter than my hair. I do very minimal tweezing to shape them and fill them in with brow powder and wax. I keep wondering if tinting them would help but I'm scared it will look too dramatic.
I don't do anything other than plucking. I guess I should pay more attention to them.
I bet this would make even I of the no eyebrow talent capable of shading my brows.
what about something to perfectly arch your brow? i have very full brows...and they have no arch what so ever. their like straight lines above my eyes....a little help?
I like my brows, I don't really do much to them.
