CRAZYLIBELLULE AND THE POPPIES! HOMMAGE A GABRIELLE! CRAZY STICKS SOLID PERFUME!
Meg here! I know, easy title. It's important I give you as much information as possible because mark my words. This is a line your going to be seeing everywhere. Crazylibellule And The Poppies make crazy sticks solid perfume. They have cult-like status in Paris and now they're making their way to the states! They are luxury at a very affordable price ($18-tres chic!) Like any good Parisian-or woman-they admire Coco Chanel. They love her, they know I love her, it makes perfect sense that they sent over their crazy stick titled "Hommage A Gabrielle." The perfume is named in honor of Coco. In case you didn't know-Gabrielle is Coco's real name.
Eleni and MissRo saw the "Hommage A Gabrielle" packages come in and along with myself, we loved them. They look almost like an old fashioned case that a tube of stick matches would come in. It is the coolest presentation. Once you pull off the lid, the tube twists like a lipstick and the neatest solid perfume stick appears. I mean neat. The solid perfume even has a cap within the cap to keep the fragrance intact and fresh. It is really a great design concept. I hate sprays and sometimes the roll-on ball can leak. That will not be an issue with this. Packaging A+ Price A+
The scent was too flowerly for Eleni, MissRo liked it but isn't a huge floral wearer. Megken liked it and thought it smelled very pretty. I am obsessed with it and would live in a Peony if I could so this is right up my alley. I love floral scents, especially white flowers. The blend is Top Notes: Ozonic flower. Heart Notes: Wooded Incense, Indian Jasmine. Base Notes: Vanilla, Cedar, Russian Leather.
Fragrance is a personal issue but if you like classic floral then this will be a winner for you. I am very excited the movie "Coco Before Chanel" is coming out tonight! Audrey Tatou plays Coco from the start of her life as a headstrong orphan to becoming the epitome of style. The "Maison of Chanel" actually got behind this movie and opened up their archives and collections to them so it should be gorgeous! Opens up today in LA so Arc Light Theater here I come!
I have a pretty sixth sense about products that people are going to go nuts for and I feel it with this line. The site b-glowing.com carries these babies and that's a very good sign! I love how that site finds really hard-to-find products that have die-hard followers from all over the globe. Good find!
The best news? We are giving two away! Just tell us your best exotic find and I'll mail it to the two best stories!

The packaging looks so cute, and that really is a great price for a perfume! I've never really used solid perfumes before, but i would certainly give it a try! Hm, I can't really think of any good exotic finds, does getting my eyebrows threaded count? haha!
no i didnt know that was coco's real name. wow!

That is definetly cute packaging!! Very glamorous, I have not had good experience with solid perfumes however this one sounds "neater" hopefully it has nice staying power too. Great review :)
I love perfume sticks! My friend got a whole set from lancome a while back and every time I went to her house I used one. The were small like a crayon.I'll have to think about the exotic item.. :S Im pretty plain jane when it comes to makeup brands. Just the norm really.Ok... Im not sure if this counts as an exotic find... But I tried an exotic look once!I wish I still had a picture floating around of myself. But has anyone heard of the Japanese fashion Ganguro???Its really crazy. Here's a link to an example.http://www.sfreeper.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/ganguro-girl-phone.jpgAnd here's a link to a little on the crazy side...http://www.artstore.pl/wp-content/gfx/yamambas.jpgIt basically is having VERY tan skin and VERY light makeup. White or light pink.Usualy they dress up, in pinks and flowers and very barbieish.Well I wanted to try it!! I didnt go really extreme but I was VERY tan. I used a kinda of pinkish white eyeshadow and BLACK false lashes and made myself very dramatic! Lol I wear my cutest get up!HAHA it was soooo interesting. I didnt go out for a night on the town, but I did go get coffee and was amused by the look on the baristas face!
Tan is Love
Wholy crap!!! I do remember that first pic from a certain other forum....haha I don't think I would have the confidence to do my makeup like that and even get coffee (although it is only makeup)!
I love perfume sticks too! I want this perfume, so win or not, I'm definitely going to get some. My exotic find is also Japanese - nato! Nato is fermented soy beans. Doesn't sound particularly yummy, does it? Well, it's not. BUT, all my Japanese ladies in my English classes swore by nato for skin care. They insisted that eating nato every day would keep skin soft and supple. And, I think they were right! So I forced nato down every day for months, and I never had prettier skin. Plus, it's high-protein so my nails grew out stronger too. After a while, I got used to the taste of it. I put it over rice, maybe with a fried egg on top, just to mix it up. It wasn't delicious by any stretch of the imagination, but for soft, blemish-free skin, I did it!
that looks so cool. I have been guilty of buying a perfume that smells like cats pee on me just because it looks amazing on my shelf.
My neighbour has a palm tree in her garden and i live in the north east of england. Thats pretty exotic to me.
Ooooohhhh...there are SO stinkin' CUTE!!! WANT!!! Love the name too!!!Most exotic "find?" Well...if you don't want to hear about some of my past-loves,I guess it would be Fugu.I was in Hong King and VERY pissed off at the horrible man I was traveling with (he was filthy rich,I was very young...we do strange things when we are young,LOL!) and after a fight, I went out at @ 11:00pm in search of some "fun" aka someone other than him to hang out with.Found one of the endless little places to eat/drink,illuminated by only a sign with a fish...mmmkkayy...stark lights,bare-bones interior,I was the ONLY female in the place, there were maybe 8 men sitting at the counter. They were cordial and a young (VERY HOT!) Asian guy explained to me that they were THE finest place in the city to indulge in "Fugu" or "blowfish"...what did I know,I was just 30 years old with a Platnium Amex so I ordered what he suggested and proceeded to EAT the perfectly-prepared Fugu as well as to drink a lot of very fine sake.(plum wine with a KICK,served warm) I laughed myself sick an drank myself stupid with the great guys at the bar and then asked for my bill: It was @ $600.00 US. :0The bill was picked up for me...you'd have to know Hong Kong to understand,it's very international and the simple fact that I was IN this place at that hour was such a rare thing. They considered it an "honor" to pick up my bill (I was also cute as hell then :) I didn't know, nor did I know what I ate or why it cost so freakin' much.Google "Fugu" or "blowfish" and you'll realize why I have never experienced anything quite so exotic....well...except maybe the bartender who took me home,LOLROF!!!TMI!!!
That IS a good price--think of how long it would last! Amazing. My most exotic find would probably be (I see we have an Asian theme here!) Shark Fin dumplings from a now-defunct (SAD!) dim sum place I used to love. I only tried them once and they were weird. Who knows if that's actually what was in them!
I've never tried perfume sticks. Are they like soap? And do they work better than perume mists?
Cute packaging! Best exotic find would be a chinese hat I found in West Virginia. My friend and I were the only two northerners in this little college with one stop light. Apparently we were not liked at first, and some girls followed us into the elevator and started to make fun of us. Forever the lover of Kung Fu, I told them those that wear straw hats in the rain do not get wet.
This def looks interesting! I have never been fond of perfume sticks but that's bc i have not found one i love the smell of ;)I have not had much experience with exotic items so my most unique items would have to be :blood pudding in ireland! and/or oatmeal served with a vat of warm irish whiskey that you added to the oatmeal--I don't like oatmeal but who could pass up jameson whiskey at 7am :)
I'm not a big perfume person, mostly because the bottles are so big and they charge so much for them! I have been given perfumes as gifts and they all are like 90% full. This sounds like something that would be up my alley...I don't know how exotic it is, but my best find is chocolate from the island of Grenada where I go to school. I know, you're thinking "chocolate is chocolate" right? Well the chocolate they make on the island (and can only be purchased on the island) is dark, creamy, and any chocoholics dream! Makes the best brownies you will ever eat. Once you try Grenada chocolate, you will not want anything else!
My best "exotic find" was a little place that I had my hair chemically straightened in Vietnam. It was only $60 WITH TIP! They did a great job, my hair didn't fall out... it did take forever because I have so much hair but they did it well.

Vietnam is the absolute best place on the planet for beauty. I went the best salon in Hanoi, and I got 7 services, plus a champagne lunch, for a whopping $100. I also had suits and shoes with matching purses made, 3 manicures, 2 facials, the best haircut of my life, and all the $1 pho I could eat. PLUS! Beautiful scenery, friendly people, spiritual temples, and fresh cafe au lait.I am PINING for a return trip!
Awesome! My cousin is visiting Vietnam. She is loving the temples and I have to tell her to try out the salons!I love the idea of solid perfumes. Hope I get one soon :D!
Oh these look fantastic! What a great idea, a solid perfume in a stick. These sound delectable. I'll have to keep an eye out for any other fragrances they release! My 'exotic find' was also found in Vietnam - bluedevilkitty has the right idea! ; ]I had been searching for a Melbourne Cup frock for what felt like forever and a day and was starting to become more than a little frustrated. I headed overseas with my then partner, and decided I would push all thoughts of this elusive perfect party frock to the back of my mind only to discover the most amazing, funky, stylish and ever-so-unique dress in the back alley of Ho Chi Minh city! Imagine my surprise as I lay eyes on the dress, sitting beautifully on a mannequin in some dirty back alley-way. I dragged the boy inside and oohed and aahed at the beauty of the dress for a good 10 minutes before the lovely assistant approached me. She asked me in her broken English if I would like to try it on. I must have looked like I had just won the lottery, the size of my grin was absolutely insane. I nodded and took it into the tiny fitting room.I emerged with the gown on but the zip un-done. My 'Western' chest was just too big for the petite Vietnamese size gown. In a flash the lady whipped the dress off me and said, "Five minute!"I stood in the stifling heat of the store directly under a decrepit fan for 10 minutes. The other beautiful assistants bought me ice water and a plastic child's seat to sit on under the fan, as the head assistant worked on the dress.Another 10 minutes later and I was whisked into the change-room with the dress flung over the curtain. "Try this!" the lady said proudly.I lifted the dress over my head and reached behind to pull the zip up. Amazingly, it fit perfectly! The lady hadn't even measured me! She had managed to alter the dress in less than 20 minutes from site alone!I thanked her profusely and admired myself in the mirror. "How much?" I asked. She took a calculator off the desk and showed me a figure - US$40. I was aghast - so cheap! And it was made from fine Vietnamese silk!I immediately decided against bartering, as this lady and her team had been so very helpful - above and beyond the call of duty. I paid and walked out the happiest I think I had ever been! That year at the races I had literally swarms of people asking me where on Earth I had found my dress! I even had someone asking me if they could buy it!! I answered all with a wry smile, saying I had been overseas and the gorgeous people of Vietnam had provided me with my dream dress. :D
That's another great thing about Vietnam--inexpensive custom made clothes! I had 2 ao dai custom made for me while I was in Vietnam for only around $60 (which is about a month's wages in Vietnam). Yes, it was awkward standing in the little room, getting measured, and having the ladies be amazed by my height, broad shoulders, and curves. But now I have two lovely ao dai :) Here in the states, custom made ao dai are very very expensive.

My most exotic or very lucky find happened in Lisbon Portugal in 1999. My husband, son and I were wandering all the back alleys and had no idea of where we were. Our goal was to find Port from some year that was suppose to really good. So good in fact that they didn't ship hardly any to the US. We found this really old deli with chickens and baby pigs hanging from the ceiling, dust over everything and an old man running the store who had to be a 100 years old. We didn't understand each other, but managed to get Port and the year to him and he came back with a bottle. We asked how much, $7 US, so we asked for 9 more and bought them. Back on the cruise we met a couple that owned an exclusive wine shop in Boston and they offered to buy our Port for $1000 a bottle. We were tempted, but we wanted to taste what a thousand dollar port tasted like. It was amazing. That was a once in a lifetime find. We enjoyed every bottle with friends over wonderful deserts.

I love perfume solids, I'm pretty hooked on Pacifica's (http://www.pacificaperfume.com/solid-perfumes). They're only $9 and smell so good. They're easy to put in your purse or to travel with.Anyway, I like the back story of this perfume, but it sounds a little overwhelming in the floral department for me. It's difficult to tell without smelling it. The packaging is super cute though.
Sounds, looks, and i'm sure smells amazing! My most exotic find came from La Alhambra in Granada Spain, which is a Moorish citadel dated back to the 9th century. There several onsite shops and I found one that made wooden boxes with very detailed/intricate designs that represent the architecture of the fortress and the rich Arabian history. This is where I found my most beloved jewelry box, a hexagonal shaped cedar box that's about 8 in by 8 in, maybe, with red/white/green designed carved into the topside of the lid and a mirror on the underside. This is where I keep all my treasured jewelry. It's gorgeous and handmade, I wouldnt trade it for anything!
What a cute package! I love solid perfumes, especially for party time, so that way I can easily keep a little touch up in my clutch bag
I love solid perfumes, and am a sucker for nice packaging. No coughing because you have to breathe the thing in, and no worrying about the bottle breaking and drenching your things (been there, done that).Anyhow, my best exotic find...Me and my family was on vacation down in Serbia one of those summers when whole of Europe was just one massive oven. We had headed out early in the morning, with the air conditioning in the car turned to full, and a good amount of water in the cooler box, to go see a monastery up in the mountains that our interpretor had been talking about for days. It was supposed to be a rather short drive, less than an hour. It took us nearly four. The reason? We decided to take a short cut, down what we thought was a gravel road but that turned out to be a road non existent and with no place to turn around on.I can't begin to tell you, the horror of driving an ordinary car, down a mountainside, with a several metres drop on one side of you and only more rocks in front of you, standing on the brakes and still going down too fast for your liking.Anyhow, after what felt like days of feeling sick to the very core of my being, we finally rolled out onto the real road again and shortly thereafter we arrived at the so much talked about monastery. It was a small, white thing on the mountainside with a black, wrought iron gate and a bell to ring in. My brother happily rushed to grab it, but before he had reached it the gates swung open and a small man, in a black robe, came to greet us. There was some talking between our interpretor and the monk, and we were allowed to go inside. We had the traditional tour of the place. And talk about holy bones and whatnot, as the monk lead us to their chapel. A chapel lighted by many coloured lamps. Ok, thought I. We are in Serbia and it is pretty. Then I happened to look out the window, the laundry hanging on lines outside. Underwear in an assortment of shapes and colours flapping in the wind, some of them definitely belonging in x-rated movies. Ok, thought I.Then, as the tour ended, after having heard a lot about how the monks lived on their prayers alone, we were showed into a common room to have some tea. And to be offered to buy vegetables, crosses and beeswax candles that the monks claimed they grew and made themselves. My father was about to buy some candles, but my brother stopped him by hissing: "Dad, dad! You can get the same candles at the market in town, for half the price!" And true enough, you could. Along with the crosses and vegetables. But my father did buy a couple from the monks, who smiled and poured more tea for us and thanked us.Those beeswax candles really are the best and most exotic find I've ever made. They smell deliciously of honey when burnt. They keep a steady flame and don't drip like ordinary candles do. And they are handmade and natural. Can you have any better candles than that?
Such pretty packaging!! I love it! Iam very Iffy about the floral scents! Iam a smell it and if i like it i like it! .. this is great! I cant not think of anything that i have found.. Of course Ill think of something tonite at mid nite and wont be able to get to a computer!! hahah just my luck!
I don't usually go for the flowery smells in perfume. Actually, I was reading my cosmo magazine recently and rubbed one of those perfume page strips on my arm and LOVED it...until I realized that I had put on the man's version. I smelled the ladies version and I hated it because it was so flowery.I have been dying to try a solid perfume though...it's such a great idea. (and there's no glass jar to break). As soon as I see this in store, I will be all over it.

I've never tried solid perfumes before and this one looks so cute I wish I could smell it !!!My most exotic find was a Turquoise Silk Sari with beautiful embroidered flowers on it it's gorgeous, I found it in a charity shop I volunteered in for 9 years I totally love it, it's so delicate and pretty :-)
Ooh, I love that it comes in a stick instead of a pot. I've owned several solid perfumes and I've always wanted to love them, but the fact that I get the stuff all over my fingers while applying turns me off a little. It takes away from the convenience of having a solid. I've even melted down a few of them and transferred them to lip balm-style twist-up containers to make them a little easier to use.
the packaging is cute:) i've never really used solid perfume before it would be a first. i do like the idea though.
Cute outer packaging and great price but does it smell good to my nose and does it work well with my body chemistry, is the question....?
Love the packaging and i like the idea of a solid perfume. this is definitely something i would love to have at my desk at work!
I have never used a solid perfume, but I love the idea of it. Sounds much easier to toss in your bag and take with you and easier to reapply throughout the day.As far as exotic finds....does my Patrick(sponge bob's bff) beanie baby I found at a yard sale last week count??
wow, I really enjoyed all the Asian-inspired find- great stories. I love perfume but I am afraid solid perfume is not strong enough for me- I love sillage! I am curious to find out who the winner is- I love the Blowish story and the Vietnamese dress story- we should have and international travel stories section!I lived in russia til i was 15 so I have lots of items in my closet from our bazars - I am sure they could be considered exotic items here, but to me they are just things that remind me of home!
nice package, never seen solid perfume
i don't really like the idea of a solid perfume... but thanks for the tip (:i think i'll check it out next time i go to Shoppers Drugmart.
love the packaging vintage inspired...cute
Meg, thanks for introducing me to these perfumes! I was at Sephora this weekend and had the opportunity to check them out in person :) They had maybe 8 different scents (I really like the red and green ones!) These are definitely a good value. They're absolutely adorable too! Now I really, really hope I win one...

I love the idea of solid perfume, I haven't tried it yet - I always spray. I will check these out next time at Sephora. From all of the exotic stories everyone wrote, I think I need to get out more!
A stick perfume would be great for controlling the amount that is applied. I'm sketch on body scents though because there are too many people allergic to them. I don't want to be *that girl*.
I've never tried a perfume stick, but this looks fantastic. I am learning so much from this site, haha
bring them down under to Australia!!!
i've never used a solid perfume ...I Love Coco Chanel i'm very proud to be french with this brand :)
I love perfume sticks - so easy to travel with! I just came back from a 2 week trip to Spain and the only fragrance I carried with me was my Pacifica Tuscan Orange. It was fresh, took up no space at all - and didn't have to be placed in the 1 quart liquids bag for the TSA. Agnes - I was delighted to see your story about being in Serbia. I've been there several times and love the country. My exotic story probably isn't all THAT exotic now, but at the time I felt like I'd wandered into a romantic film. It was in Paris many years ago. I'd read about a parfumery Annick Goutal. Now many of her fragrances are available in the US, but at the time very hard to find. I'd never experienced them but I just got it into my head that I had to find the shop and buy some. There was a beautiful little Annick Goutal shop in Rue Castiglione, just off the Rue de Rivoli. It was just a jewel box of a shop, incredibly lovely and elegant - all glass and gold. The wonderful sales lady helped me to find just the right fragrance for me, which was called Passion. It's still my favorite and I buy it every time I'm in Paris. Everything is wrapped up beautifully. You can feel good even giving one of their soaps as a gift - it is SO elegant. AND, when you're ready to leave the shop, they always ask if you want them to spray you. You can choose whatever scent you want, and the lady will envelop you in fabulous fragrance. When I left that store, I felt taller and fabulous. And very French! This is why every trip to Paris includes a visit to this parfum store. Alas, Annick died a few years ago, but the business is still going strong. This was my quintessential Parisian experience!

I must, must, must try this! I am a fragrance junkie, and the packaging alone is too chic to resist! And how convenient! I love that it is a solid...very easy and discreet to apply on the go! Well, as far as exotic finds...I don't have much. Single mom with 2 kids...it's kind of hard to squeeze in anything exotic in my budget! I do have something I's like to mention...but it has nothing to do with winning, just feel like sharing with you ladies...My best friend for life - who was my boyfriend at the time, Dave, took me to a gem and mineral show and I spotted the most beautiful glass figurine of an owl. Its truly stunning, and has a color and a shine like I had never seen before! We asked about it, and came to find it was hand carved out of Volcanic glass from South America. It was quite expensive, so I admired it for a while then went about my way. Dave snuck away and bought it for me, and omg I was so surprised! He said he loved the way my eyes looked and how happy I was when I was holding it and he knew he had to buy it for me. I think I hugged him for hours!!!Dave passed away suddenly and tragically last year....so for me this little volcanic glass owl is such an exotic treasure and something I will cherish and hold close to my heart for the rest of my days. But the most exotic find of all was Dave, my closest and dearest friend for many, many years. It is a rarity that you find in life such a true and dear friend, and I was lucky enough to have experienced that. What else can I ask for? ♥
"Never take someone for granted. Hold every person close to your heart because you might wake up one day and realize that you've lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones..."
All of these perfume reviews makes me wish I could wear perfume. Blah, stupid allergies! But the packing is adorable and who doesn't love Coco Chanel?
I love the packaging! Very attractive and pretty. And the poppy scent! WOW, that sure is different. Will have to try it out(:
perfume sticks, they sound so wonderful! but I'm not too big on perfume :( just like jewelry I always forget to put them on.
That looks so sophisticated and feminine. I just love the packaging. I could have it sitting anywhere in my room and it'll add a nice touch to the decor. haha I'd buy it just for that =)
b-glowing is probably my favorite find so far on megsmakup. The reason is they carry the "niche" perfumes, stuff that is not available at your everyday Macys. I am a perfume nut, I sample and research perfumes constantly, reading Basenotes reviews before I but. I own strictly dept. store perfume so far, still looking for my "signature". I found it on b-glowing, after ordering a lovely solid perfume, recieved a sample of a perfume calles Filles des Isles (Island Girls) in a scent called Floral Sensuel. Its so gorgeous and sexy, different than anything out there, stays on all day and night and still smells exotic. It fits all the qualifications on Basenotes of a superiour perfume, has striking top note, sophisticated middle notes, warm sexy basenote and long lasting dry down. I am so thrilled with b-glowing.com. Perfume makes me happy. thanks, meg!
Meg just sent me one of these in my points package! YAYYY! Thanks Meg :) I was so excited because I'd wanted one of these SO BAD. I absolutely love the adorable packaging. It smells fabulous too--Although I was a little concerned because the cedar scent was initially really strong ("Oh jeez," I thought to myself, "I'm going to smell very Christmasy today!") Fortunately it dried down very nicely and it just smells amazing. I'm very particular about my fragrances, but this one is a winner. Thanks, Meg!

I love trying out new perfumes that don't break the bank. Like Mark.'s Earth which is in the last chance section right now.
I like the name :) It reminds of my lovely friend, Gabrielle!!
