DR. HAUSCHKA SOOTHING MASK!

SUN01
BabyLove here!  Big thanks to everyone who contributed comments about their own sensitive skin issues, and the products used to treat them.  Please let me know if there is a specific product you want me to look into.

OK, onto our next baby product, which actually is more of an “everyone” product.  Dr. Haushcka’s Soothing Mask has been used in my house nearly everyday for the past four weeks that I have had it.  What have I used it on, you ask?  Well, have you ever seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding?  I’m the dad and Dr. Hauschka’s is my Windex.

My husband:  “The baby’s bum is red.”
Me:  “Put a little soothing mask on it.”

William:
  “I’m itchy.”
Me:  “Let me get some cream.”

My husband:  “I have razor burn.”
Me:  YOU GET MY POINT

I bring up the fact that everyone in your home can use this product, because it is a little expensive.  Another important thing to keep in mind about this cream is that a little goes a LONG way.  It comes in a 1 oz. tube, but it lasts.  I’ve had mine for four weeks, and it’s still more than half full.

I use the soothing mask after my shower (notice the word daily was left out).  I don’t specifically apply it when I’m broken out, or if my skin is in disarray.  Once on, it doesn’t harden and flake, but firms up just a bit to let you know its working.  It washes off easily, I mean really easily.  There isn’t any need to scrub your face like you do the dishes, and with the Soothing Mask you don’t need to. With no residue left behind, the only thing that’s left is smooth, supple skin.  I don’t even bother to use my moisturizer afterwards because my skin feels that good.

My husband, Mike, has very light, fair skin.  He really hates shaving, but does so everyday (Thank you Marine Corps.).  Needless to say, one shave with a razor that has been around just one day too long, can rip his face to shreds.  He used this, reluctantly, and had rave reviews about how soft his skin felt!!  He said, and I quote, “My skin (unlike my flaming red hair) doesn’t feel like it’s on fire anymore.”

The scent isn’t as earthy as I would expect from a product line that bases its product on plant extracts, but there is definitely an herbal smell.  I cannot, for the life of me, pinpoint the most dominant smell, but it’s got a spicy, zesty scent to it.  Maybe one of the other reviewers will be able to clarify this LOVELY smell for me.

I do not recommend this product for a baby who has BAD diaper rash due to illness or teething.  However, it definitely soothed Calum’s bum, and should be used, in my opinion, as a preventative measure against those really nasty diaper rashes.

Furthermore, William has bad eczema that is treated through a prescription, topical steroid.  I use this steroid to treat his eczema when it is extremely flared.  I used Dr. Hauschka’s around his wrists and neck where there was a small amount of unbroken, red patches.  It worked to calm the area, and take the itch and redness away. Please, if you suffer from a skin ailment, follow your physician’s orders first….and then follow mine!

This mask is fantastic for everyone.  Don’t let the price scare you away because it’s worth it for everyone in your house.  If you find a great product, stick with it, and I’ll definitely be saving my pennies to stick with Dr. Hauschka.  Even if you’re not sold on this mask, check out www.drhauschka.com because this line has everything from body washes to sunscreen and cosmetics.  They also have a great line for men, too.

What do you ladies think about the Dr. Hauschka line? Do you us it as your go-to miracle product?

Hello everyone!  Well, I don’t have a child in diapers anymore so I decided to try the Dr. Hauschka’s soothing mask on myself.  I followed the directions on the back of the tube and rubbed it on my face, especially under my eyes and around my nose.  I let it sit for 20 minutes.  The amazing scent was so calming and refreshing.  It is a soft floral scent that even lasts after you wash the mask away.  It came off very easily with a damp cloth and my skin was so soft and moisturized, but not greasy.  I noticed immediately that my skin looked more even in color.  Some of the red patches, especially around the base of my nose seemed to diminish.  I will say that a little goes a long way and the tube should last you for a long time.  I would not hesitate recommending this to someone.  I could defiantly see this product working on a diaper rash.  I look forward to many more masks with this product!

Thanks for the reviews--I too have a lot of redness around the base of my nose too that nothing ever seems to cure!I feel like Dr. Hauschka's products are generally really well-respected in the beauty world. I've always heard great things about the hair care line.

I have been hearing a lot of good things about Dr. Hauschka's product line lately. I've noticed that as I have gotten older, my skin has become increasingly sensitive. I almost always have an itchy or irritated spot somewhere on my body, and I bet the soothing mask would help. My sister has eczema, so I might get this for her for Christmas.

I am definitely going to check out this product and because of the versatility I can feel good knowing that the whole family can get use out of it :) Thanks for the fab review!!! ♥

IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN DR. HAUSCHKA, DOES IT BABY LOVE!?I love everything that I've ever tried from this line.  I have all sorts of skin ailments and I'm super impressed with the Normalizing Day Oil.  I don't think it's intended for eczema but it has a really great calming affect on everything I've used it on.  Among other things, I use it on my facial eczema and it almost completely eliminated the redness in my complexion. I'm wondering how it would work on your darlin' Calum's eczema (great name).  I'd say it's worth a try, I've used it on my children and it worked beautifully. It's not a mask but instead a serum of sorts.  My husband hates to shave and gets terrible razor burn too.  We finally found something that eliminated all of these problems.  He uses Razorantium by Lush.  It doesn't have the greatest scent, but it takes care of the burn and the stubble.  It even allows him to skip a day now and then, it works that well.  Great review!

First off, I am a huge fan of Dr. Hauschka!  I've used their Normalizing Day Oil,  Rose Day Cream, Quince Day Cream, Cleansing Cream and Rejuvenating Mask as various points in the past.   My skin has always responded SO well to their products. So, I was very excited to give this Soothing Mask a try.   My face has been going through its usual change of seasons breakout/dryness right now, so I really needed it.   I managed to convince my hubby to do the mask along with me.   He is a huge product junkie when it comes to his shaving cream and soaps, but I have been trying lately without much success for him to add a moisturizer to his routine.   So, I broke out the Soothing Cream and we had our own little "mask night".  We both LOVED the flowery/herby/powdery smell of it.   It felt so nice and invigorating on our skin.  After the recommended 20 minutes, I toweled off the product with a warm wash cloth.   I couldn't believe how soft and smooth both of our faces felt and looked.  And, the next day, my facial redness was noticably diminished.   I actually left the house without foundation (*gasp*).   My hubby really liked it too.. I know he secretly likes to be pampered.  I don't think that he will need convincing to do "mask night" again. As for my little man, I have used it on his bottom.  He doesn't have diaper rash since he immediately alerts us about a diaper change needed.   "Mommy, poopy coming"...  Minutes later - "Mommy, poopy here!"   Yes, Dylan, thank you for the "play-by-play".   But, I use a diaper cream post-bath as a preventative measure.   He had absolutely no reaction to the cream and it worked well on his "tush".As for the future, I think that I am going to be keeping this little wonder for myself.   I think that $53 is a little too much to spend on diaper cream.  Well, maybe it wouldn't be if I win the lottery.  I keep trying  ;)

Wow anything that can help with razor burn for men, but hey me too is something for me to try. We used to attempt to tweeze the really bad infected hairs on my boyfriends neck, but after determining that women are tougher than men gave up. If this helps ease his razor burn then thats a small miracle in itself.

Great review, Babylove (and yes, now I'm singing that song), sounds like a great multi-use product for your family! I also tried this mask and wasn't *totally* in love. Seems like a great product but maybe I don't have the right skin for it? I have plain old normal boring skin, so sometimes I feel like I'll try something new and nothing happens. I put this mask on and did fall in love with the smell. There was something very old-world/glamorous about it. It reminded me of all those cool little bottles and tubes in my grandmother's bathroom that my cousin and I used to get into and get into trouble! The whole time I had the mask on I was dreaming of images of lounge singers, high balls, and smoky jazz. The mask felt so smooth on, and I didn't have to use a lot. It softly hardened, enough for me to know it was working, but it wasn't stiff or crusty. When I took it off, my face was definitely very smooth and I didn't even need moisturizer that night. But the next morning, I didn't notice a difference. Like i said, my skin is very average, no issues, so maybe this is the type of thing I need to try a few times!I made my husband try it (I won't tell you what I had to promise to get him to try a 'girly beauty product'!) He does have sensitive skin, and has to shave daily for work so by the end of the week, his skin is rebelling. Thursday morning, he put on just about as little as possible (I had to add some for him) and around 15 minutes started whining about getting it off! However, his skin was so soft all day! And no bumps! Even this morning (Friday, usually his bumpiest day)...not a mark! And his skin still felt really soft. He admitted to liking it, and I think I have a chance to get him to make this a weekly thing! As for my son, luckily, he seemed to get my skin, so he's had no rashes, no redness, no nothing all week. The only little drool rash he had was gone after trying last week's Erbaviva product. So, Kyle didn't get a chance to sample this. I'll keep it in mind though, he does occasionally get a little diaper irritation.Overall, I loved the smell, and loved the results on my husband. It's a bit expensive, so I'm not sure I'll run out and buy it again, but at least I know a little bit goes a long way.

I tried this product on everyone in my family except the dog and cat. I don't have any skin irritations but used it on my face and my three year old daughter's face one night when we we're having a spa night. She loved it! The first thing she said was that she liked the smell. It has a very clean pretty smell. We followed the directions and left it on for 20 minutes and when i washed it off her skin was glowing. Mine was not glowing as much as hers but it never is :(   But my skin felt so soft and clean! I had my husband use it after shaving and he liked it so much I caught him using it again! This product also works wonders on my 1 year old daughters diaper rash. She has red hair and very fair sensitive skin so I was surprised to see how well it worked and how quick. This product is expensive but seeing the whole family can use it makes it worth it-plus the tube does go a long way! I would totally recommend this soothing mask!

I love this stuff!  I tried it first on my 2.8 yr old and it was a huge fight to get it on him..so I only put a  little on his face and then waited the 20 minutes and wiped it off with a warm towell (also a fight), he was so soft and smelled so yummy.  I don't know that I will use it on him again since he was such a pain..but try it on his bum bum if it gets red.  I then did it on myself and loved it, I have sensitve skin so I was nervous, but my face took to it really well...and I noticed softer skin with less reddness in the a.m.  An A+ from me.  Have not gotten hubby to try it yet, maybe this weekend, he is stubburn, but said he would.  And I will report back after that.  I will use it again on myself for sure!

Cole’s mama here! I really don’t know exactly how I feel about this product! I decided to use it on my whole family to see if we all loved it! It worked fantastic on Cole, great on me, and just ok on my husband!       I made my husband use Dr. Hauschka’s soothing mask after he shaved his face.  He usually gets such bad ingrown hairs that are extremely irritated, very red, and bumpy.  Its not until the next day that those little suckers come out!!  After he shaved I applied the mask and left it on for exactly twenty minutes, rinsed it off, and waited 24 hours.  The next morning no sight of the in-growns.  Later that night my husband came home and he had a few bumps. They were not as red as they usually are, but his neck was not very “smooth."  It was a little better !       I decided to use it on Cole’s bum after he had this horrible bumpy rash. I applied the mask right before I put on a clean diaper and by the next diaper change it was gone.  The only issue about using this mask on a baby is the ingredients. The product has macadamia nut and coconut in it. Some children might have an allergic reaction to these ingredients. Working in the beauty industry, you see a lot of clients who can not use certain colors and product because of the nut extracts!       I decided to have a home spa night. A nice glass of red wine, candles, bubble bath, and Dr. Hauschka‘s soothing mask. Any mother’s dream! I washed my face, applied toner, and used the mask on my face. I waited about thirty minutes until I wiped it off.  My skin looked very clean, moisturized, and smooth.  Since you only get 1 fl. Oz, you need to use it sparingly. A little bit goes a long way!

I keep using this product on myself trying to decide if I like it or not. Unlike everyone else,  I didn't like how strong the smell was. I did notice my skin being softer after using it, but I didn't find that it helped with redness or irritation. I didn't know if I was putting too much on because it wasn't getting hard like most masks, but I have asked other people who use it and I guess it isn't supposed to. I do really like how soft it made my skin and that it didn't get more irritated but I don't think it helped enough to justify the cost. I haven't been able to find a reason to use this on my two year old(no diaper rash, irritated skin or anything else) this week, until this morning. I used the buzzers on the back of neck after giving him his first short haircut and noticed he was really red. I Put the mask on him while he was napping hoping it would help. When he got up I rinsed it off and found the redness and bumps were noticeably better. So, after using it on Bryce I have decided I like the mask, but probably not enough to buy it again.

When I got this product, I was a little confused...not sure if it was for adults/children (thanks Babylove for the clarification though).  My 2.10 year old isn't in diapers anymore so I convinced her to do the mask with me!  I must say she loved it (I have pics, I'll change my profile pic later).  She thought it was the coolest thing having stuff slathered on her face.  She even touched it when it was still wet and told me "so soft Mommy".   The smell is flowery which I don't love but did find very soothing and relaxing.  I wasn't sure how long to leave it on for (I don't think the package says) so we left it on for about 15 minutes and it looked completely dried into the skin.  We went to wash it off and I found it really greasy to wash off both me and my daughter.  Did anyone else have that experience?  I will say both of our skin was very soft and smooth...my daughter's red bumps were still there but I'm sure you have to use it frequently and often to see a true change.  We'll definitely be using it more.  And my hubby has been eyeing it for himself too.  I think this little tube will be gone fairly quickly in our house!

maybe I should give this a try...I have really sensitive skin on my lower legs and sometimes they are a little irritated after shaving...have yet to find something that soothes rather than burns..although this is probably a little pricey to use on my legs!!

Hi again babylove! I enjoyed your last post and have been on the hunt on how to send you the info for you to try and review this product.I have a product for you to try its called ALL GOOD GOOP by elemental herbs. This stuff is amazing I surf alot alot alot! I am in the sun constantly, not only is this all natural but it smells good and works great for sun, cuts, burns, bites, dry skin, everything(hence the name)! I use it on my face after sun to prevent redness(i still use spf). The description states,"Strong enough for a climber's raw knuckles and gentle enough for a baby's bottom, All Good Goop! is organic, all-natural, petroleum-free and a great moisturizer."The website is bodysenseshop.com and they have tons of cool all natural, hypoallergenic products including a whole line for mom and baby!

I haven't tried this line specifically but Mario Badescu has a healing & soothing mask that sounds similar that I love. This product sounds more versatile though and if is soothing enough for baby, it will work for my skin.

I've tried a lotion and lipstick from dr hauschka. I wasn't impressed. The smell was too strong and organic. I much prefer Weleda products. Cheaper and more pleasent scents.

I used to swear by Dr. Hauschka products but they are too pricey for me.  I may however have to go back to the mask seeing what a multi-tasker it is.

I do like that everyone could use it, because it saves space and is an easy got to item.

As I wrote somewhere else on this blog, I love Dr. Haushka! Their oils are a bliss, I have 3 different ones at home! But for soothing I like Anakiri Restore Healing Balm - heals dry skin, bug bites, even cold sores with bees propolis.

Never tried it, but it sounds nice.  I don't really have anything that I use as a soothing mask (aside from aloe, which I just learned about in a recipe from Meg...I leave out all the oils and just throw the plain old aloe on my face), but I do use Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque occasionally.  I think Dr. Haushka sounds wonderful, but I just can't bring myself to spend that much on a product that seems to do something similar to my cheaper alternatives.  Maybe I'll ask for it next holiday as a treat.
