PALMER'S COCONUT SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER!

Hi Ladies! It's Jeanasina here and I've had yet another hair compulsion moment that I am compelled to share with you. Let's start out by singing a revamped version of a camp song...ready.? You'll pick up the tune soon and can sing right along with me...here we go...”If you love coconut and you know it wash your hair, if you love coconut and you love it, wash your hair...if you love coconut and you know it, don't be afraid to show it...if you love coconut and you love it wash your hair!” Why am I singing my whacked out version of that tune? Why am I promoting coconut? So here's the deal...
As our story continues, I was walking down an isle at our new and improved Walmart store which had hair products specifically designed for ethnic hair. I didn't even notice that fact, but what I DID see was that Palmer's had a hair care line that was all about COCONUT!!! Let me backtrack a bit here. I have a friend and she and her entire family use daily and swear by Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion. I mean to tell you that every single time I see her, and hug her, my first thought is....”My God! Your skin is always so soft!” She of course tells me for the billionth time that it's the Palmer's brand lotion she uses. She swears nothing else is as good. So...I did go out and purchase Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion and it does remarkable great things for your skin but I just personally cannot get past the cocoa butter fragrance on me so I passed it on to my Harleyman Husband who thinks it's just right! So...armed with the knowledge that Cocoa butter by Palmer's rocks out skin, when I saw that Palmer's makes COCONUT products for the hair...well honey,.., let me tell you, I HAD to stop and read the labels! It did not matter to me who this product might be designed for specifically, the fact that it had the word COCONUT in prominent letters on the container just said to me “YOU ARE GOING TO WANT THIS!”
Then I bet you know what happened next. Two sounds. Plunk! Plunk. Those were the sounds of the shampoo and conditioner landing in my cart. Somebody stop me! Throughout my Walmart visit I kept telling myself I don't need to buy these two products but when I opened the caps again to reacquaint myself with the fragrance, well, even though I hadn't even tried them yet, I found myself screaming out loud (in my head) YES! YES! YES! Even in the check out line I felt guilty about wanting to try these, but I didn't care...the scent of COCONUT was involved!
And that's how this review began. This morning, I took a shower and yes, I took the two containers of Palmer's Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner into the shower with me. The shampoo of course smelled delicious and while purring like a contented cat during my hair washing maneuvers, I was aware that it shampooed well and my favorite part? When I rinsed out the shampoo my hair squeaked! I love a squeaky clean result! Then came the conditioner...I'm throwing my head back in supplication as I remember how lovely it went on my head and again, how wonderful my hair felt when I rinsed it out. I really shouldn't do that because I have arthritis in my neck and what if my neck bone gave way at the moment my head was titled back and it stayed that way! Holy fright night!!! I don't know if people would enjoy looking at my silky hair if my head was tilted back like a broken bobble head 24/7! Oh dear! Don't try this at home ladies and gentlemen!
Besides the fact that total euphoria happens to me over coconut envelopment, I let my hair air dry. For those of you that don't know me, I NEVER do that because my hair always looks frizzy and unattractive. So 90% of the time I do the entire hair drying, round brush, flat iron routine. But right now, I have air dried my wavy hair and...it's very silky and almost looks like some of the TV ads where you envy the wavy haired woman with the magnificent hair! Almost! I wish Palmer's would make Coconut lotion!
Both products were $4.57 each! There are about 5 products in this Coconut line. The one other that totally intrigued me was just a little packet which was Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Deep Conditioning Protein Pack! Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Deep Conditioning Protein Pack is a once a week intensive conditioning treatment formulated with Pure Coconut Milk, Coconut Oil and Vitamin E to restore and replenish hair that is in need of more then just your daily conditioner. Doesn't that sound fantastic! It was about $1.99!!!! I'm sure I'll be on another covert mission in Walmart to pick up that still-beckoning-to-me-conditioning-pack as well as maybe the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula With Vitamin E Shine Serum Hair Polisher to try out. But that's it!...really.!..I think. Come on! This has got to be it!
I found this information off of the Internet... Palmer's Coconut Formula Conditioning shampoo: A blend of the finest natural coconut oil and vitamin e, it's gentle cleansing, neutralizing base helps to soften dry, brittle hair. Maybe be used on permed, pressed or bleached hair.
Palmer's Coconut conditioner: Smooth and repair dry, damaged hair with the Polynesian secret for beautiful hair - pure coconut oil. This natural conditioner from the tropics strengthens and seals hair's cuticle, moisturizes and softens hair, shines all day. Pure coconut oil is combined with keratin and panthenol to strengthen and improve the hair so that hair is silky and manageable, full of body and bounce, straighter with less frizz."
Have you amazing ladies tried these products? Did you like them? My vote is to try them...I think you could be pleasantly surprised. I do realize on both products I reviewed recently that TIME will tell what they do to your hair in the long run. I'm currently alternating my high buck treasured shampoos and conditioners with my less expensive yet compelling products like this one! My hair does feel pretty silky if I do say so myself!

Jeanasina you are one fun writer! I did not know this shampoo/conditioner exists. I love the smell of coconut and I'm going to have to smell (and try really hard not to buy since I have SO much shampoo already) this next time I'm out shopping. It sounds wonderful and I love the price too! Don't you just HATE when you get home and are really wishing you bought the rest of the line? :)

Jeana...you have GORGEOUS hair! I am dying at the sight and sound of you in Walmart,LOLROF! I am in love with coconut oil so I shall try and find these yummy-sounding treats!!! The protein-pack sounds perfect for a long soak in a hot bathtub and as you say,who can resist the price or the scent?Palmers has been around like forever, obviously they get it right?I wanna' shop with you: I keep hearing that oh some cute Minnesota'accent proclaiming her love for products in the ethnic aisle,LOLROF!!!HUGS!
I love Palmers! I love Cocoa Butter! Can't wait to try the coconut shampoo & conditioner!!!! I have this awesome coconut spray by Alba. Its spf 4 (obviously I don't use it as a sunscreen lol), organic, and it smells wonderful. You just made me pull out my little yellow jar of Cocoa Butter Cream by Cococare. Yum. I am going to go pick up some Palmers Coconut stuff for sure! They've been around forever!!
Oh, and Kiehls makes the best smelling coconut lotion, btw.
There's a reason Palmer's products have been around forever--they work! I use the cocoa butter with vitamin E lotion to help keep my surgical scars soft. I can't tell you how much better I feel after using it, my skin just soaks it up!
Agree! I used cocoa butter on my partner's scar and it made a big difference!
Omg, I <3 Coconut!!I want!!!!
I will definately give them a try, but I find that a lot of these products, especially the more low-end ones, while they may have a great coconut scent, which I love, really contain very little actual coconut oil. But since I love the scent so much, and smelling it makes me think that I am doing something great for my hair, I will look for these at my CVS. I was just in there tonight and didn't see any while I was looking for a hair smoothing product that I haven't tried 10 times already.
I am constantly changing shampoos and conditioners, I have never loved anything I have tried. I do love Palmers cocoa butter, so I may look for this when I go home at Christmas. Hopefully it is in Canada! I love the smell of coconut, so this sounds like a must try! I have never tried weekly treatments for hair before, but this one sounds very affordable so I may have to try!
Jeanasina I just love reading your reviews! they are humerous, informative and honest...I just love them! I am pretty sure that everything you've reviewed I have then gone out and bought, seriously!! I have seen Plamers on the shelves of CVS, Walmart,Target you name it but I have never seen "Palmers Shampoo". I am preparing to color my hair and afterwards my hair always feels dry and icky. I am going to give this shampoo a try, thanks for the 411, have a good weekend!!
i see palmers products all the time but i thought they only did skin care. i hear theyre good but i never buy. i know ive used someone's cocoa butter lotion but i cant remember any reactions to it. i should give it another try.

I have not seen this either, but I will DEFINATELY be on the lookout! I love coconut oil and use some daily in my facial oil mix... jojoba, rosehipseed, emu, and coconut oil mixed in a bottle and applied to my damp face. Love it!!

I agree with your friend Jean, Palmer's can do no wrong. I use one of their Shea Butter formula lotions almost daily. The scent is much, much less potent than the original formula. It is wonderfully moisturizing, without all the greasy build up of some of the other heavy hitters. I had no idea Palmer's made hair products. I'm super picky about shampoo and conditioner so I tend to stick to the same few products. It's nice to have a new one to try that comes highly recommended. Goddess Granny is right, Jean has freakin amazing hair. She has the hair of a nineteen year old. Lucky, lucky woman!
I love all things coconut. That scent just gets me. My mom is obsessed with Palmer's Cocoa butter too...like you, I just don't like the smell. I'm not really even sure why. It's a good product, but not for me.I really want to try these shampoos and conditioners. They sound pretty great. Plus I know coconut oil does great things in the moisture department. I'm going to look for these the next time I go to Walmart.
I was just thinking and honestly I don't think I've ever tried Palmers. I doubt I'd be able to find the haircare products anywhere near me because there isn't much for an ethnic population where I live. However I know that the lotions and butters are readily available here.
Every product I have tried by Palmers has been very good. I would try this product, no questions asked. I haven't noticed it at our Walgreens, but I was not looking in the ethnic section. I would think this would be good for everyone's hair, man or women, every one. Keep us posted if you try it the oil.

have not tried yet
I never knew palmers made shampoo as well!!! even if they do it's probably not out yet, i love their cocoa butter, lip butter and summer glow products! they all smell so incredibly delicious (pity it's not edible, although the last time i was at Myer, a girl introduced me to edible body butter.. interesting!)i really need to find a better shampoo, and this one sounds fantastic, the ones i'm using atm, makes my scalp incredibly dry.

I love coconut you love coconut we all love coconut (sing to the tune of "I love cheesy poofs from South Park) Now everybody: I love coconut you love coconut we all love coconut, LMAO ha ha ha. Seriously, a friend of mine just bought Palmers Tummy Butter, I read the ingredient list and wow, what great stuff. The coconut shampoo and conditioner sounds fab, I must give it a try. Thank You Jenasina, you always make reading reviews fun!! You have a great sense of humor.
OMG I Love ANYTHING coconut right now! *Swoon* i can smell summer :)
I'm so with you! Coconut is my number one scent. It's so warm and tropical and exotic. So sexy. :D
ha that was some visual-bobblehead indeed.I use the palmers cocoa butter and its really good and so cheap it should be illegal(takes ages to sink in though but Im not known for my patience!)I love everything coconut-right now sitting in my shower is a huge bottle of coconut shower cream and I think 2 palmers friends are about to join him-I can pick up these easy in my local pharmacy tomorrow.

My daughter and I are both crazy about coconut scented products...and the shampoo sounds wonderful! I had absolutely no idea Palmers made a shampoo! Right now my daughter is using the Coconut Lime Verbena moisturizing shampoo and conditioner from Bath & Body Works - she loves it and so do I! But she's running low and i would really love to give this a try....so I think I'll run to Walmart and see if they have this in stock. I hope they do!
"Never take someone for granted. Hold every person close to your heart because you might wake up one day and realize that you've lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones..."
Sounds really great. i love the cocoa butter am sure i'll LOVE this too. :)
ooh im always on the hunt for new hair stuff :) and i LOVE coconut good to eat good to put all over me i say! wonder if it will work out ok for my thick curly hair? I'm giving it a go, and im going to get the cocoe butter one too yay~~~~!!!!!!!
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
wow, palmers do hair products? Thanks for the great article Jeanasina. That sounds good to me. I love coconut, and luckily my hair does too. Their cocoa butter is great.
I'm another fan of the cocoa butter lotion! I keep a little sample version in my purse, so even in the dead of Indiana-winter, I can open my little tube and VOILA! be transported to instant summer. The shampoo and conditioner sound intriguing, but I'm more interested in that deep conditioning treatment. I use an ACV mix for my conditioner, but always follow with leave-in conditioner and use a deep treatment frequently.
I absolutely LOVE Palmers coco butter products. Theyre great for stretch marks too! And make the best lotion. Theyre REALLY expensive over here, so I dont buy them, but my cousin has them, and everytime I go to her house, I ABUSE it! lolMaybe when I get my student loan I'll try and get some lol (Im so bad!)
I wouldn't buy this as it had SLS in it. Since I've stopped using shampoos that contain SLS my hair is much fuller.
Coconut is so yummy. I didn't know Palmer's made shampoo and conditioner, much less a coconut one. I really need to pay more attention next time I'm at Wal-Mart. I know coconut oil is great for your hair, so I'm assuming this shampoo and conditioner is awesome. I'll have to check it out!

"I was aware that it shampooed well and my favorite part? When I rinsed out the shampoo my hair squeaked! I love a squeaky clean result!"I hate to be the bearer of bad news honey, that 'squeaky clean' feeling you have means the hairs natural oils have been stripped and your poor hair follicles are going to have to start over-producing oils in order to play catch up!I love the smell of coconut too, but I don't think I'll try this range. My hair needs serious love - most often found in the brand of hair care my stylist is loving as he doesn't love a lot but what he does love EVERYBODY SHOULD LOVE!
Omg I love coconut and I adore the smell!!! I so have to try this!!!
I love love love coconut and amazingly priced products! Looks like I just found my brand new shampoo and conditioner line!
i've never seen these palmer's shampoo and conditioner products. i love the smell of coconuts so i might have to check these out.
This is awesome! And so ironic! I've been raving about coconut oil ever since I discovered its benefits a few weeks ago. I've been using pure cocnut oil on my hair and skin in the shower and I just cannot say enough good things about it. They rave that coconut oil is one of the few oils that can penetrate the shaft of your hair to actually repair and moisturize it. What better than something that comes straight from the earth? I'm headed to Walmart now, I've got to get some for myself!
Style may be on the surface, but you can be deep and still have some - Clarissa Gough
Darn, I wish this stuff didnt have SLS! It sounds wonderful and cheap and I love coconut! =(
wow i didn't even know Palmer's made shampoo and conditioner. I actually really like their cocoa butter lotion because it's so moisturizing so i'm betting their shampoo&conditioner is too! i love the smell of coconut. yummy!

I am always trying to find something to make my wavy hair shiny and frizz free. I just bought herbal essence totally twisted, I like the way it made my hair feel but there is still some frizz, esp. cuz it was misting today. I wonder if this would work better?

Coconut oil breaks me out badly. I'd be afraid to use this because it would probably get on my face.
I love palmers! All of their products smell so nice and I love anything with coconut teehee.
ouallal i love the scent of coconut sooo i want tryyyyyyy !!!

Thanks for enabling me. I know that the next time I am in Walmart, I will be like a man on safari trying to find that elusive creature. In my case, that will be this heavenly sounding shampoo and conditioner set. I love coconut and can not wait to get my hands on this...and the deep conditioning protein pack of course.

I will be looking for these on my next shopping trip!!!! I love coconut too! Thanks for the heads up! :-)
I always enjoy reading your posts. I have been wanting to put coconut oil in my hair every since I read about it here and now I want this shampoos and conditioner too.
My cousin bought this stuff at walmart because her hair got totally damaged from her super long days in the pool! She doesn't really have the freedom like I do to try all sorts of crazy products and ingredients in her hair so she figured this was a good buy. She was right. Her hair loves her again. The coconut in this really soothed her frizzy, dry and damaged ends, so she wasn't so embarassed when she had to go for her trim. When I asked her if she was going to buy it again she told me she already had..so there you go!
;) Gloss & Gum <3
Thanks to all you lovely womenfor all of your follow-up comments ! I am back to say once again...I completely LOVE this shampoo and conditioner! It's been almost two weeks since I have been using it on my alternate shampoo product days and I just think it's fantastic! (I only wash my hair every other day otherwise it would be too dry and I feel it's unnecessary.) I look forward to the days when it's time to try the Palmer's Coconut again and every single time after using the shampoo and conditioner my hair feels so healthy and looks so full and shiny and feels like young happy hair again! I have not seen these Palmer's Coconut hair products any place other than Walmart however. I will also say this, next time I go to Walmart I'm getting some back up bottles because I totally don't want to run out!
Jeanasina!
