Gigi here! The great question remains burning in the human soul--"To Bee, or Not to Bee?" Bee, definitely. We've discussed these all-organic products separately, but it's time to bring out the Queen in all of her grandeur--Burt's Bees Twenty-Fifth Anniversary "Head to Toe Starter Kit" for $14.99. Find it at a drug/discount store or make a beeline to purchase it at drugstore.com. I've purchased more than my fair share, and although products may vary, I have generally received exemplary items as well as a comb. No, not a honey comb--a comb for hair, you fellow gorgeous Meg Head, you!
For the uninitiated: In the 80's, a single mom, Roxanne Quimby, was left to raise her children by herself. Money was tight. One day she noted honey bee-ing sold from the back of a truck. Enter Burt. He looks exactly like the rough-hewn face on the containers. Okay, so he's not beeutiful like Richard Gere, Heath Ledger, or Johnny Depp, but fall in love with him nonetheless. This couple is as sweet as "Tupelo Honey," as Van Morrison tells it.
As I understand it, Roxanne was a marketing genius. She repackaged the honey to make it more salable to consumers and created candles. They made furniture polish. And then cash beegan to flow as a customer asked if they concocted lip balms; you know the rest of the story from here . . . you've got to love ingenuity. Theirs is above and beeyond.
What's in this amazing clear bag? Delish replenishing Lip Balm in Pomegranate, a sublime ointment that stays put and feels great for many hours (try their tinted balms as well for the gentle mint sensation and color). It includes Facial Day Cream with Royal Jelly, replete with the same vitamins and minerals that make for the healthiest and happiest queen bees in the hive. It is suitable for most women except for those with very oily complexions, and the whipped formula is easily applied.
Someone please help me with my beeastly idiosyncrasy when it comes to creams. No, eye creams should differ from other moisturizers and you wouldn't pumice your face, but sometimes I am annoyed at the number of body moisturizers--do you need lotion, hand and body lotion, hand and elbow emollients, or should you purchase body butter? I lost my sanity and the beauty rules and applied the Peppermint Foot Cream to hands. (I am praying that there are no Burt's Bees Police or I'll be wearing the unflattering bright orange jumpsuits in prison. No one looks good in this neon shade and they do make you appear fat, even obeese.) The refreshing fragrance stayed put, as well as the cream. It has a silicone-like feel for even the toughest skin. I listened closely and it did not say, "Beeware, Gigi! I need to feel toes or heels or I won't work. What, you're putting me on where I don't belong?" So I threw caution to the wind and did my elbows as well. It does work for ravaged skin anywhere--big time. These all work. You are sure to be followed by drones and Italian bees (highly romantic).
Ah, onto Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream for high-powered attention to beeleaguered digits. Rub this citrus scent into nail beds, on nails, and under nails. Layer with whatever you want for best results, especially their luscious Milk and Honey Body Lotion. I won't tell if you use the aforementioned peppermint cream! You will have people swarming about the transformation in your appearance. The Super Shiny Shampoo and Conditioner for hair are akin to Pantene's Ice line. Mine is blinding and requires sunglasses. Whoops! I lied. I have to wear them anyway.
The Hand Salve may remind you of a liniment your grandmother had. Not only does it sooth and smooth, but it actually works to heal skin. How do I know? My husband was cutting the grass and was attached by bees (not kidding). The itching and pain were aided greatly by this. I believe they were angry because he hasn't used Burt's Bees for awhile. I can't blame them, but he is the love of my life!
Onto their Soap Bark and Chamomile Cleansing Cream. Cleansing creams are underrated. It takes lipids to thoroughly remove deep-down grime and oil. Its gentle fragrance will keep you smiling and you'll see a difference over time. Use before your regular cleanser.
The best part of this company? How sweet is this? All ingredients are natural, so gentle that they can be used on a baby bee, for the moms out there and the wanna-bee moms. Burt's is dedicated to the "Greater Good" and donates to charitable causes and preservation of land. It is all green. Justify your shopping this way. Did Roxanne and Burt wind up an "as item?" None of your beeswax. Now please tell me that I didn't write this . . .

I love Burt's Bees, and thanks for the background story on how the company was formed!I will look out for this package...but as I am wont to do, I will wait until it hits the clearance rack!
You are bee-ing too funny! This sounds like a steal which means time to stock up for me and then for the holidays. I like that the products are organic. I have such a difficult time with chemicals and their byproducts. The Soap Bark and Chamomile Cleansing Cream sounds wonderful getting rid of makeup. I have used the eye creme (so-so) and the tinted lip balm (love it and the nice minty flavor). What did you think of the lemon butter cuticle cream? How does it compare to Lush's Lemony Flutter? The lotion sounds good too. Something soft scented like that after a nice warm shower before crawling into Frette (I wish) sheets on a snowy winter night. Ahh heaven.Thanks for the info Gigi.

I looove the Lemon Butter cuticle cream. I got it as part of a package that Burt's does and I've had it for about two years maybe? It barely has a dent in it. It is sooo worth the money. Fingers, toes, elbows, heels... it will work on any sort of dry skin. I really liked the milk and honey lotion. It had a sweet smell and sunk in very well while giving a nice light dose of moisture. They're a good company but most of their products aren't for me. They just don't work on me for some reason. Or they smell too medicinal. But the ones that work on me are excellent.
i adore anything from burts bees especially the tinted balms! I like their normal balms but i still need to get used to the smell... their tinned balms can be hard work, it's always jammed, especially during summer :(a whole kit for 14$!!!! thats incredible. I only found burts bees sold in one of the stores in sydney city. I think they charge $15 for a balm!!!!!I'm crazy about their lip stuff other than that I haven't tried much of it, their hand lotion seems nice too tho!

I love Burts Bees. Love the kits, they make great gifts and awesome as stocking stuffers. After XMas most stores do 50% off sales. Rite Aid start Xmas day, Longs (now CVS in CA) does it immediatly after, others take a day or 2, but, you can buy Burt's bees kits w/ lotions, shampoo, conditioner, and a bunch of other little treasures in a cute zipper bag, this is a great thing to buy and keep for birthday, hostess, and didn't find out until this minute it is your blah blah blah gifts.

Wow, there is a ton of great stuff in that kit! Burt's stuff is great, I love the Pomegranate lip balm and the Baby Bee line smells soooo good. Really interesting to hear about how they got started, too!

Well gigi the enabler has struck again-I have the original lip balm-which took me forever to hunt down in Ireland-it was like the search for the holy grail but worth it-its cooling ,refreshing and lovely,the pomegranate lip balm in in my lip balm rotation as we speak and is v moisturising yet non greasy-Ive been meaning to pick up the milk and honey body lotion-it seems very cleopatra and pampering-well Im sold on the burts bees.

I love Burt's Bees products!! I, like others, have owned a single container of the lemon cuticle balm for YEARS. It still hasn't dried out, and I use it every time I give myself a manicure or pedicure! I also love their super-minty lip balm tube as well as the fruit flavored glosses in the jars, although I've never tried pomegranate. I will keep an eye out for this sampler. Thanks!

Wow I want this so badly! I'm addicted to Burt's Bees..I use their lip chap (I will use no other!) body wash, cuticle cream (it does work miracles, and smells like lemon meringue pie! Mmmm!) and body lotion. I'm going to have to ask for this kit for my birthday, coming up in a month!
Great review my friend! I do love this company. Great products with great ingredients! You can't beat it! I must get my hands on this kit. It looks divine!! It includes many of the greats. With my favorite inclusion being the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. That stuff is like gold. It really does the trick to tame my dried out and tattered cuticles. I am currently out and need some badly!
Thanks that was a cute little review and very interesting to know the history of the company. I like burts bees stuff alot. This little case looks like a great present for someone. I like testing lots of things and some of burts bees is better than others. For example. I LOVE THE TINTED LIP BALMS- all the shades are quite nice and it really nourishes. Also the pore refining mask is great really absorbs the oil in my pores and gets rid of blackheads. I am using the shampoo and conditioner right now and they are ok- not super great though. I dont like the pore refining scrub- leaves an oily film on my face and i dont like the deep cleansing cream- it tingles my eyes. Havent tried much else so this little kit would be fun to have.

Haha - "to bee or not to bee" -- your colloquialisms crack me up! As you know, I just looove Burt's Bees. Their products and company standards are top-notch. A few months ago I purchased the Burt Day 25th anniversary bag stocked full of goodies: lip balms, glosses, lotions, soaps, bath salts and even gardening gloves. I was in Burt Bee's heaven! I am still making my way through the bag's contents. However, my absolute favorite product -- Burt's Lemon Butter cuticle cream was not in my bag. :( I just love this stuff! I've had it on my desk at work for about 2 years. Whenever I have some "down-time", I slather this rich moisturizing balm all over my cuticles. It soothes my dry, tattered cuticles and has an amazing lemon-honey smell. Great review Gigi!

I love BB's lip balms. I always have one in my purse. I haven't tried a lot of the other products, but this kit seems like a good place to start.
The last BB's kit I bought lasted me almost 2 years. I don't know how I managed to stretch these wonderful products that long, but I did. (I still have some cuticle creme left!) On a side note, I loooooove drugstore.com. I always find great deals there!
The pomegranate balm is my favorite, and I like the cuticle cream a lot, too. I haven't tried the rest, but this looks like a really good deal to try some of the lotions and such that I haven't gotten around to trying yet.
Oh! i havn't seen the entire little collection.But I have quite a few burts bees products.Theyre natural and work! Theyre not glamourous but they do the job which is what I use it for!Theyre good to put on at night before be and wake up solf and refreshed!Thanks for cueing me in on this.

I LOVE using the Lemon Cuticle Cream in the winter. Keeps my nails soft and the citrus-y scent is a great uplifter for those cold winter mornings...and days...and nights... :)

Great review bee-utiful! :) I'm not a huge fan of all of the BB product line,I find a lot of it to be heavily-scented and sticky for my tastes BUT the baby items are fabulous and I adore the tinted lipglosses. :)I'd absolutely buy a couple of these for gifts!
I have always loved Burt's Bees and I can't think of one person that has used it and turned up their nose. I swear by their lip balm, you know the one that saves your from a garlicy/oniony lunch, that menthol heaven balm! I can't tell you how many times it has saved me when I have no gum. And the cooling feeling it gives you is great! Definitely one of my favorites

I have to hunt down this package! What a great gift. I never knew the background info on the brand and I love it. There lip balms are the best, they don't feel greasy or anything.
I have been a long time fan of Burt's Bee's. Their products really work and they are affordable. Right now I am using their Tomato Complexion Bar and Coconut Foot Cream. All summer I used their two different night creams, Radiance and Pommegranete Anti-Aging, both great, with the Radiance being a little more moisturizing and the Pommegranete more whipped. I also really adore their lemon body oil and my Mom is a devotee of their Lemon Cuticle Butter. We are a Burt's Bee's household. I just got their new acne facial wash and am soo excited to use it! I'd love to try their lip shimmers but they are $6 or so each, kind of expensive to find out you can't use a colour. Burt's is a popular brand in this house! We love their products!
