MOUJAN! DEPILATORY FOAM FOR LEGS AND BODY!

Meg here! I would like to say in my defense that I am 100% not a flake. If I tell you I'll pick you up-I'll pick you up. I get to every appointment 10 minutes EARLY. I keep my word. I am really good about it. I made a mistake this weekend and here is my post...
I forgot my razor. We were at The Madonna Inn (please do not sleep there-that's another post.) Anyhow, I unpacked my razor, it was pink and had a bunch of different blades you could snap into the main "razor body." I took it out of my large make-up travel bag and I, of course, used it everyday at The Madonna Inn. I mean we went to a POOL everyday in my BATHING SUIT so yes, I was using my razor. I guess when I was emptying the shower and checking under the bed to pack up and leave I forgot to add my razor. No worries. They're really not pricey.
I know my new roommate, she is very nice and sweet and gracious. The thing is I'm not around all that much. We haven't had any late night herpes talk (I'm clean) or if I may carry hepatitis (clean again) or, you know, that little H.I.V. thing (yup-all clear Houston). I had to go out to a dinner and only had clean a sleeveless and leg showing dress. I had my razor trapped in a bright pink suite in the central coast. I searched my bag and panicked as I looked at the clock. SHIT.
I asked my roommate if she would let me use a razor in exchange for a makeup product. She looked at me like I was an insane person and just said "I don't need a make-up product-here's my razor. I put a new blade in. Just use a different blade. No worries."
That was so cool of her. Thank-you Cindy.
The next day was a Saturday and I walked to brunch with Robyn. There are few places in LA where you can walk but my neighborhood is great with restaurants and little shops. As we were walking back I said "Oh, don't let me forget, I'm just going to pop into this beauty supply store and buy a razor." I had a Bloody Mary at brunch, I am older and wiser and I know even one drink and a car is a terrible idea. A CVS was a car ride away and I was confident this well stocked store would have a basic razor...I was wrong.
The saleswoman told me that they did not carry razors but not to worry, I could purchase Moujan! Depilatory foam for legs and body. It was $13.00 and with one spray from this can the spray would turn to mousse and I would be hair-free!
I had a date with Megken to go to his friends art show and I had to leave at 7pm. At 6pm I got naked and put a towel on my bed. I shook my Moujan and sprayed (it comes out like hairspray but lands like a foam.) I did as the directions said, 4-5 inches from the spot and wait. I sprayed my underarms, legs-and because my aim bites-my entire pube area. There is just not a lot of angles or precision with this can.
Here's the weird part, I read CNN and MSN and Facebooked. I waited a good 15 minutes and then I took my acrylic nail and hit my pubes. My pube hair was all shrivelled up and fried looking so I figured that this goose was cooked.
My pube hair evaporated-totally gone in the shower. My underarm and leg hair THEY WERE STILL THERE!! WTF?
Unless I am an alien, I don't get it. I followed the directions and the only place it worked? Well, let's just say I look the same as I did when I was 11 years old and waiting for "the curse."
I had 15 minutes to spare so on the way to Megken's I bought 2 spare razors just to have "incase."
Nair has always worked for me in the past but I do tend to stick with a razor. Waxing? Nair? Razors? How do you get out of hairy situations?

I stick to razors because I haven't had a whole lot of luck with anything else, I like to use the basic razors like Venus etc... but for finishing touches and to make you really smooth without ingrown hairs, I use the BodyBare razor, it makes your skin feel like soft and smooth with no stubble.
How strange that it only worked on your 'nether region'?! I don't understand it, very very weird!I generally use a razor to rid myself of underarm and leg hair. In fact I'm a bit neurotic - I tend to shave at least twice per day. And no, it doesn't wreak havoc on my skin - surprisingly enough. I moisturise my legs and the pits, well they just seem to lap it up a-ok!As for my girly-parts, I only trust one woman in this world to wield hot wax around that area. I've had my fair share of nightmare hair-removal sessions so I'm sticking with the woman who knows her way around pots of scalding wax.PS - Meg, didn't you like the Madonna suite?! It looks glorious from the photos but I guess you never know until you've actually been to a place..
yeah, we need more info on the Madonna suite! sounds like something went awry
I use Avon Skin-so-Soft depilator for my privates and 'stache, and I shave my legs and underarms with my partner's razors. I don't know if he notices though. I think I would be afraid of a spray can depilator - like you said, precision would be a problem and my cat might get defuzzed or something.
Re: your partner not noticing your hair removal, try leaving it for a month and I'm sure he'll notice pretty quickly!! ;D
hahahaha! I meant I don't know if he notices that I steal his razors to shave my legs!I bet he WOULD notice if I didn't do my regular hair removal routine after just a few days. I'm...swarthy, shall we say ;)
Wow, that's so weird! I used Nair a little when I was younger but could just never get past the smell, even when they try to mask it with fruity flavors or whatever. I stick with my Venus and am happy. I've used an epilator in the past but I've gone back to the traditional razor, it's just faster and easier for me.
Loved your story! I also tend to use razors but have used Nair and other creams before, but i found for them to be effective on me, may be different for others, i usually have to leave it on longer than directed. sometimes twice as long. Afterwards i sometimes end up with red itchy legs depending on what i use, so i only do the nair thing if i want to be TOTALLY hair free LOL! Thanks for letting us know about this product.
I used to use a Venus, but I felt like I was going broke paying for blades. But I found the perfect solution at CVS. I am seriously in love with pretty much every store brand product of theirs I have tried and their Women's Razor is my very most favorite of all. Seriously ladies get to the CVS closet to you ASAP and pick one up. This razor is so cheap, $4.99 for the initial razor, shower caddy and starter blades, and $4.99 for a pack of 4 blades, but don't let the price fool you. I have been shaving my legs for 14 years thus far and this is the first razor that I almost never nick myself with. I would post a link, but I can't find them on the website. Take my word for it though...YOU ALL WANT THIS RAZOR. I haven't even gotten to the best part yet. It has not 4, not 5 BUT SIX blades. You read correctly SIX. To my knowledge its the only 6 blade razor on the market, making this the Drugstore Deal to end all Drugstore Deals in my humble opinion.

Normally I just use razors, it's fast and efficient.. and i'm lazy! When I first started removing hair from my legs I used nair foam hair removal... it was way too time consuming i had to stand around the bathroom for 6-7mins before I can wash it off.. it doesn't get rid of all hair either.Recently i received a nair cream hair removal.. I haven't tried that yet, but I think they might be good for armpits :)

I just use a razor when i need it,will try the spray
I *try* and try being the operative word here to use an epilator on my legs. Sometimes I don't have time (it does take a while) and will use a razor. My pits don't really like to be waxed or shaved. I'm not sensitive in any other way so it doesn't make sense, but it just happens. So I use one of those little electric razor things which just cuts the hair off at the top, but isn't sharp like razor. It cuts it so close down so its fine for me!I have heard bad things about shaving your bits, so I always get a wax. Not sure why hot wax is better but I've just stuck with it & now it hardly hurts at all.
i stick to razors. nair doesnt work too well for me. i never smooth it on evenly enough or something and it itches and burns. i dont really like veet either. i have this huge bottle i said i would turn to when i ran out of razors but instead just purchased more razors. maybe i'll go back to it temporarily.

Wow that is weird! For my under arms I wax. When I use a razor there I still have like an under arm shadow. Waxing is the only way I can get baby smooth there and I also use Dove's deodorant that thins hair gradually. I use razors on my legs (I only get noticable hair on my shins and not very much of it. I also use razors on my bikni area. I am going to try waxing next summer.
I shave only. I had a very bad reaction to Nair when I was younger. I don't even remember what happened to the hair on my legs, but I got tiny HOLES all over the palms of my hands. That scared the crap out of me, and it hurt like crazy, so I have only used razors since then.

I tried Nair a few times but I can't stand the smell of the feel afterwards on your hands or skin. It didn't really work either on my dark, thick hair. I am also prone to razor burn and it would always come on badly when I used this. Cut to a few years later and an upcoming gyn appt. I tried the new Veet that the commercials were raving about, the mousse formula with the "scraper" thingy. I did the full 10 mintues, which really means more like 12. It wasn't really magic, I mean I wasn't impressed. Next day, at my gyn appt my Dr. is acting concerned during my yearly. She started asking me awkward questions until the light bulb turned on over her head and she asked if I used depiliatory creams. When I answered yes she whipped a mirror out of nowhere and BAM! Chemical burn! Never again never again... You are my friend razor and I will never stray again (earmuffs: unless maybe for laser hair removal).
Style may be on the surface, but you can be deep and still have some - Clarissa Gough
I wax everything except my legs. The hair grows back too often for me to waste $$ on waxing and then maintain anyway.I never liked Nair because it smells rancid to me and my legs felt like rubber after I took it off. That didn't strike me as the most skin friendly product thereafter.

I usually wax underarms, legs and bikini are and I only use razors for the "unmentionables" and for any emergency (i.e. I need to wear a tank top and the waxing session is in, like 3 days). I used to be the biggest fna of epilating creams, gels, sprays, roll-ons, you name it. The smell is always awfull in all of them and sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes it does even if you apply it the same way. What happened to you has happened to be as well; hairs on my bikini area would vanish and the others wouldn't. I don't know if I'm right but this is just me brainstorming... These type of creams work b/c they dissolve the root of the hair. The bigger the root (the thicker the hair itself), the more the pore will be open, the more space there is to dissolve. If the root is thinner and therefore the hair is thinner the pore is tighter and the product won't work as well. Maybe that's not the reason at all but it kind of makes sense to me...
I've always used razors but I've been thinking about trying a dipilitory cream for the nether region. I lucked out in that although I have dark brown hair my leg hair is almost nonexistant (thanks mom). The little that does grow is so fine the sun has to shine across it in just the right way to even see that something is there.
I use razor on my pits in the shower, I used to wax eveywhere but I'm lazy and now I can't afford a beautician so I bought an epilator for my legs, I'm really clumsy and every time I've had an emergency and I've tried to shave my legs I've ended with damaged legs.
I have never had luck with any of the smelly-removers in a can or tub! It truly scares me when the box states that it "exfoliates and depilitates" it one easy step! Like burning off the top layer of skin? LOL! There is one product for faces called "Surgi-Creme" that many spas use on women too sensitive to wax,I think Sally's carries it.I have light-hair to deal with but honestly,my weapon of choice is a man's Mach3 razor: don't ask me why but this thing IS a razor on steroids and dones the job beautifully! EVERY woman I know who makes her "living off her body" (entertainers) uses one and the secret is to shave it all every single day. :) It makes the hair grown back finer and keeps the skin smooth and tight...I shave everyday without fail.I will only say that the "lack of grace" in regards to the Madonna Inn TRULY brought all of us girls even closer and we had even MORE fun in spite of their efforts to curtail our giggling...:)
That made me laugh so hard. Sorry this didn't work like you'd hoped!I tried Nair years ago, but it did nothing for my beastly leg hair. I've waxed my arms a couple of times but a) that looks weird and b) I got some lovely bruises. So, it's just shaving for me. Although, it does seem that depilatories have evolved since I last used them. I've never tried Veet or newer versions of Nair. Might be worth a shot!
I've used Nair in the past, but ended up with some terrible chemical burn on my upper lip that kept me in the house for a week! The smell is hard to get over and it never really worked well on any of my thick dark body hair. So, ever since, I've stuck to my trusty razor. I've been using a Quattro for Women since it's come onto the market, but after reading rynthayer's comment, I'm def going to check out the CVS version!!Thanks for the great post though Meg! New information keeps me from steering myself into more mistakes.
I can't use Nair or any of the other creams like that. They just irritate the hell out of my skin.I've found that if you use the right type of shaving cream with a decent razor you will get great results. I recently started using Ambrosia Shaving Cream by Lush, it is AWESOME! Combine that with my Venus Razor and I'm smooth and free of razor burn. And, that's no small feet on my end.
before my husband's beard phase he always used Ambrosia and loved it! Maybe I should give it a try!
I have never found a depilatory that actually works. I use Surgi-Cream on my upper lip but that's about it. They never work on the guerilla warfare pubic and coarse leg hair areas that I have been cursed with. I never got it growing up. Here I had all of this fine blonde hair on my head and arms...south of the border it was like an Ecuadorian rainforest!Razors for me only babe. And I use either $.99 cent conditioner or my trusty almod oil to shave. That's it. And I don't buy the pink razors either. Don't know why but men's razors just work better and I only have to buy one pack of refills for me and my hubby. Mach 3 works for me baby!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
I totally use $0.99 conditioner in lieu of shaving cream too--it's great!
I got such a good laugh out of this post! I've tried Nair depilatory creams in the past and it does not work for me at all because i have thick black hair and my nose does not appreciate that chemical scent. I use a razor for my underarms and I actually use Nair's sugaring wax for my legs or else it is spike central in less than a day! my leg hair has definitely grown in finer and longer. the next hair removal product i want to try is the epilator but it's a matter of saving money to buy one.

Lol so.. The good news is, we have discovered soemthing that works great down there!!But that is so wierd that It didnt take ANY hair off of your legs????SO my legs are EXTREMELY sensitive,I can not, under any circumstances use a razor on my legs. No amount of special blades, no amout of pre, after or during shave gel will help me!After I shave with a razor my legs burn and itch and and I writh around in pain for days!!!!So I use an electric razor. And I dry shave. This has never caused me irritation at all but it doesnt last very long. A day, 2 tops. but its what I do...I recently moved and left the charge to my razor at a friends and I havt gotten it in the mail yet!!!!Ugh... So ive been letting it...grow.... and wearing pants in 90 degree weather!Well I finally caved and bought some Veet. I've used nair before and it did the burny itchy thing to my legs. Ive heard veet is a little more gentleIt worked pretty good. But ot much better than shaving. It was smooth for 2-3 days tops and I used alot of the cream, so its not really a bang for your buck, but it did the job, at least till I get my charger back!!
Tan is Love
I've tried so many of those stupid foams and nair. So far, I will be sticking with my razor. Sure, I have to use it every single day (at least for the next 25 years...my mom now only has to shave once a week...here's hopeing). Nair just doesn't work on me. I can leave it on forever...it just irritates my skin and the hair "melts." Veat was a horror show...I just can't go there.I know I won't be buying this, since the other products work for you and this doesn't. Thanks for the review.

Honestly, with any depilatory products, that always seems to be my luck...I can never get the hair to come off my legs, I have tried so many products and follow the directions to the "T" but nothing works for me. I just stick to my trusty razor! Sorry this happened to you!
That's so strange. You'd think CVS would have razors - actually I'm sure mine does. I prefer waxing, but I'll use a razor too. Nair and such works, but I don't like how a whole can can be used up in just one go.
She said she didn't go to the CVS because she didn't want to drive, she went to a beauty supply store :)
LOL! Well Meg, let me tell you what I do to get rid of my facial and body hair. For my underarms and legs, I shave. I personally wish I had the funds to at least wax my thighs. For my arms, I use Nad's cream hair removal, the Sensitive formula. It doesn't smell too great, but totally removes my arm hair without any burning or irritation like Nair does. Finally, for my facial hair, I use Parissa Wax Strips. I can't imagine a product that removed your hair "from down there", but didn't remove anything else. How strange! ;)
I've tried Nair in the past, and it didn't remove any of my hair. I tried Veet (the kind that comes with the plastic 'razor' to help remove it), and that didn't work either. Heck, even when I tried waxing (Sally Hansen wax strips as well as Parissa sugar wax), it only removed a portion of my hair. Which means that pretty much the only thing that removes my hair is a regular old razor-- which sucks because my skin is extremely sensitive and I get razor bumps from the slightest touch. I can use my epilator on my underarms but it's a bit small for leg use, and when I tried it on my nether region it just exploded in horrible razor burn type bumps. Of course that was during my first trip to Daytona, right before hitting the beach in a new bikini. :P
It may have worked only in your bikini area if the hair there was a bit longer. Chances are you shaved your under-arms and legs more frequently so the hair may have been really short. I find dipillitories work much better if there is a little more hair for the formula to "grab" onto. I hate having stubble, so although dipillitories and wax produce smoother results, I have gone back to shaving. All summer I have been using the Venus Spa Breeze and I like it, but whenever something new comes out I try it.

I stick with razors usually. Thats really weird that this stuff only worked in pubes but that sounds good for me cause I like to keep that area hair free but it is very sensitive and I get a ton of ingrown hairs easily if I don't exfoliate a lot for days after shaving (which hurts right after a shave!). This doesn't didn't burn or irritate your nether regions at all? Let me know! If its didn't, I will definitely try it!
probably because pubic hair is much more coarse it worked better there.... i hate Nair, the smell and it irritates my skin to no end.... i cannot wax since my skin is too sensitive. so i stick to shaving or using Magic powder - it is directed for use by african men, for their facial hair, but it works really well on my arms as well. I would not try it around pubic area as it stings very bad. I must say the smell is horrid, but i can live with it for 2-3 minutes, and then just use a very strong scented shower gel :)
I always use a razor, because nothing else works! I have tried every depilatory ever made, and they make not the slightest difference! I know some people swear by them, but either I have super-resistant hair or else other people have more lax standards for hair-removal results. And I have tried waxing, but discovered my pain tolerance is too low for it. Never again.
LOL great to hear about your pubes Meg! LOLI usually stick to my razor. Im too afraid to wax my vag-jay-jay, and well, I havnt had sex in 2 years, so I dont need it to be baby smooth for anyone any time soon.As for legs, I have very very light body hair except for my under arms, so I just shave everything.
For me, shaving is just easier. I admit I am lazy about it too. Dh never complains and I wear pants most of the time. I have tried the Nair/Neet/Veet and none of it ever worked well, and the times is was decent, I had stubble the next day. Not worth it. I tried the Sally Hansen wax strips. Ouchy and Sticky. I guess I don't do it right. I tried a friend's epilator in college OMG, that's all I got to say about that! I am sticking with my original Venus, but I am very tempted to try that 6blade from CVS....
~~Christy
Yeah Meg, what happened at the Madonna suite? It looks so cool!Your pubes story was quite entertaining. I've only ever used a razor, and I'm not sure how those mousse things work.
I tried Nair/Veet and it took the hair off in patches. Some places were hair free and some were not. I never bothered to try another depilatory. I tried to wax at home once with the loaded wax strips by Nair. That did not turn out well. I couldn't reach all the places on my legs (I'm flexible, but not that much) and if I could reach, I couldn't pull the skin taught and then rip at the same time. I ended up with nasty bruises, a sore back and wax stuck everywhere that wouldn't come off. "Washes off with water" - ha! I had to use baby oil and then take a shower and then scrub my tub. It was exhausting. And I still had some hair left. I have a Venus and it works just fine. I'm sticking to it!
I'm a nair person too, but only on the bikini line and knees! hahah. yes knees. The rest i do with a razer. I find this works well for me, and i have it down to a fine art, i need 7 mins exactly- never more than 10 it burns! and 3 is never enough and leaves a mess of frazzled hairs behind.
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
I don't know it has anything to see with this but I got my hair removed by laser "down there" and under my arms....ok the downthere part IS PERFECT I LOVE it the results are incredible !!!! BUT under my arms it looks like I did ZERO and I did somthing I remember it cause it was PAINFULL and EXPENSIVE lol !!!!Maybe the hair are differents lol and some are stronger than other !!!!Voilà oh one more thing...I would I give you my razor too =)
Chloe http://thehollywoodheels.blogspot.com
Nair has never worked for me...I wish it did because that would be so easy, but I guess I must be some kind of a hairy beast :( So for me...well I have my Venus razor for emergencies or quick touch ups. But I bought an epilator for my legs...I use it on the lower leg and my underarms (don't try this if you cant tolerate pain! I have a very high pain tolerance) and I always get a Brazilian wax down there. I cant stand having stubble there...and I wont attempt to shave there...would be a disaster! Now a question for ladies that use an epilator...I have noticed that I get ingrown hairs on my legs when I use the epilator. Now I exfoliate and moisturize and I don't understand why the ingrown hairs? Very strange indeed...can anybody offer some advice?
"Never take someone for granted. Hold every person close to your heart because you might wake up one day and realize that you've lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones..."
It's funny because I just recently found my veet in the bathroom and decided to use it even though I've never been too sucessfull with it. It's good to know that I'm not the only one. I was actually standing in my razor section at target the other day contemplating buying another veet or nair or even nads again but at the end of the day it's the venus that works best for me. I like the gillete razors better than any other brand. I do use a shave gel from trader joes that works really well and doesn't irritate my skin. I would totally reccomend anyone to try. My sis uses trader joe's conditioner and says it works really well too.

Ha ha weird how it only half worked-how annoying-I usually go between a venus razor and veet -it really works for me and doesnt smell bad anymore-you should give it a go and see if it works for you.
PotionPrincess♥
i want to be a wax girl but i just always end up reaching for the razor. i've tried waxing at home but just can't get a good salon type finish so i've given up on that. unless i can book in regularly at a salon i'll be sticking to razors i suppose. sometimes i use nair. it works well but razors are just too convenient.
Thats weird.. Cuz usually Veet Works on legs and arm pits but NOT "down there" and this did the opposite! I usually Stick with razors.. Old school! haha
