ERBAVIVA ORGANIC! BABY LIP AND CHEEK BALM!

BabyLove here! I'm Meg's younger sister and I have to be honest. I'm not super huge into makeup. I like it but I'm not obsessed with it. There is just not a lot of time for it in my life. I'm a 28 year old mother of two boys ages 3 and 1.
Both of my boys are highly allergic- foods and also common environmental airborne particles like dust, pet dander, pollen, grass, and probably AIR! Lucky Me!
I don't have time to do primer because I am too busy trying to keep my two little ones from breaking out in hives! This makes finding good products like washes, shampoos, and creams extremely difficult.
If it was difficult to find great "beauty products" for my children I thought it might be difficult for you too. I will be reviewing the best baby/kids products on the market for megsmakeup.com. I'll be helping you make informed decisions about what you're buying and whether it's worth your money. If my kids can use it, then believe me-anyone's can!
Over the last four weeks, I've been looking at every baby/kids skincare site known to man. I've found some really great stuff that I am excited to share with you. TADAH!! This brings me to our first ever Babylove subject..Erbaviva!
Erbaviva baby lip and cheek balm is their number one seller, and for a good reason, it works! Like I said my son, William (3 years old), is allergic to everything, as a result, he suffers from awful eczema. I am extremely careful with what products I put on his face, wash him in, and do his laundry with. His skin always seems rashy to me, even though I'm extremely diligent.
This product arrived on my doorstep the day the entire family (sorry Meg) arrived home from vacationing in Bermuda. It couldn't have arrived at a better time. William loves to swim, and as a result of the salt water and nasty sun block, his poor little face was torn apart!
William applied the balm to his own face, and after two days of use, the improvement to his skin was considerable. It didn't cause a breakout (to be honest I was expecting one since his skin is so sensitive), his skin and lips looked smooth and moist. The cracks and dry skin seemed to be much less visible.
This balm is packaged like plus-sized lip stick, which not only makes it easy for little hands to manipulate, but also easy for big hands to find it in their pocket book or baby bag. It definitely has an herbal, minty smell to it. If an earthy fragrance just isn't your thing, you probably will not like the smell or taste of this stuff. I didn't find the smell or taste to be overwhelming, William didn't complain about it either-Hooray! When my husband kissed me goodnight that evening, he asked "What's on your lips, it tastes good?!?"
Another plus? It's nearly 100% organic, and has healing and soothing agents like calendula oil and rosemary extract. It's great for treating already chapped areas like the cheeks, nose, and lips, and it's also made for preventing them from getting that way. So go right ahead and use it freely, on the kiddos and on yourself.
Erbaviva provides a quality, eco friendly product, that's reasonably priced and that will last for a long time. Their website is stock full of great products for baby and for mom to be. I recommend giving it a try!
Any other moms love Erbaviva Baby Lip and Cheek Balm? Who else has a walking allergic reaction?

Welcome to the family BabyLove (of course you're already a part of Meg's family lol), I can't wait to read more of your reviews! This seems like a really great product. I used to babysit for some kids who had a lot of allergies, but mostly food. Although the mom did have special washcloths washed separately for use on the younger boy's face, so I think there were some skin issues, too. I'm sure it's a handful, good luck finding products to help make things easier!
Good luck with your mission of finding great products for kids. I don't have kids, but will be really interested in your posts, because if somehting is gentle enough for use on sensitive kid's skin, then it should be good to use on my sensitive adult skin! I imagine the products will often be natural or organic too, which is really important to me.
Welcome to the website! Though I can't really relate that well to being a mom, I have eczema like your son and I've been looking everywhere for something to sooth my seemingly forever lasting dry skin. Recently it's been flaring up pretty badly, so I'll be looking into this. Thank you for your review, and i look forward to reading more!
A BALM for lips and cheeks! wow i've never heard of those before, i have pretty dry skin so I think i may look into this, my face and lips chap at the same time, especially during cold weather, not so much during summer. I think the only thing missing from this versatile balm is spf!! And it's eco friendly! which is just another plus.

"Ooh baby love, my baby love. I need you, oh how I need you.: I can't get that song out of my head. I am so very excited for this new column. :)So, I was hesitant to put this on my 2 1/2 year old little man for 2 reasons. First, I was given some Erbaviva products as gifts (baby oil and soap) when he was a newborn. I tried them on him and he broke out in a horrible rash. He is super sensitive to most scented soaps, lotions and detergents. Second, he had his MMR shot at the beginning of the week (since we are on a delayed immunization schedule) and he has been a slightly miserable. :( I didn't want to put something on him that could potentially irritate him.
So, once he was feeling better from his shot, I excitedly cracked open the Erbravia Lip and Cheek balm. After his bath, I tested a little bit out on his wrist. He didn't have a reaction - yay! My little guy is allergic to so many things (mainly tree nuts that caused us a fun little trip to the ER). So, I continued to apply it on the dry spots caused by his eczema on his cheeks and body. In the process, I discovered teeny tiny little bumps on the backs of his arms. Egads, he inherited my keratosis pilaris (stylemama, I nearly shed a tear)! I rubbed, rubbed, rubbed the stick all over those chubby arms! He is at the "I can do everything by myself" stage, so he wrestled the tube from me and continued to rub it all over his body. He was very entertained! The packaging is fabulous -- the stick was way less messy than his usual post-bath lotions. I found the "lavender/honeyish" smell to be somewhat strong, but not too overpowering. When he woke up the next morning, I found his skin where I applied the stick to be noticably softer and smooth. We have used it everyday since.
I must say that I love this product too! I've used it on my lips and dry spots on my body and face (say "good-bye" to post-pimple dryness). Two huge thumbs up from mommy and her little man. Now that my little guy is older and less sensitive to this line of products, I hope to check out some more from Erbaviva.
I used this product on my youngest daughter who is one. She has red hair and extremely sensitive skin. She's doesn't have any food allergies BUT when food touches her face while she's eating she breaks out in red spots all over her mouth. My doctor recommended Auquafor which works well but is so greasy. I decided to give this a try and it worked wonders and wasn't greasy. I applied it before she ate and NO RED SPOTS! The smell is a little strong but I actually like it. Its not the average size chapstick either its pretty big so it glides right over your child's cheeks which makes it very quick and easy to apply . I would recommend this to everyone especially those who have kids. I agree the only thing missing is SPF.
this is good news. i wish id known about this when my niece was younger. she's pretty much out-grown her eczema. i have another niece but her skin isnt that sensitive she just has this weird rash on her hand but i think it's starting to go away. can your sons use aquaphor? my sister swears by it.

I'm so excited about this new column. :) My three year old son has very sensitive skin that he inherited from me, we both have eczema and I too am very careful what I rub on his skin. I pretty much only use Calirfornia baby and Burt Bees on his skin but I can't wait to check out Erbaviva. I will definitly order some for both of us to try. I very excited with the Mommy to be section too, I will have to splurge on some of these products since I'm going in my 13 week of preggo I will need all these goodies. :) YAY!!!! Babylove has for laundry soap I use Charlie's Soap all natural and my son doesn't do any reaction to it. I love it! This soap doesn't have any smell but your clothes still feels fresh and clean. They recommend this soap for clothes diapers which I never had my son in clothe diapers but my friend did and love this soap also. Everyone I've recommended it they love it. Here is the website: http://www.charliesoap.com/ If you click on retail they also have a list of retail stores in MA where you can find this soap. At least so far my son only has sensitive skin, no food allergies. I can't even imagine has a Mom you always have to keep a watch for their alergies. It most be so nerve racking. My neighborg's son has peanut alergies and I'm always very careful around him not to leave any nuts or peanut butter out and to clean the kitchen. It's so comment now a days and everyone has to be so careful. Can't wait to check out some Erbaviva and rub the buddah belly with some oil ;-)
Great product! After taking off the protective plastic film, the scent of rosemary and lavender was a little overwhelming, but once it was applied the scent did not seem so bad. My nine month old was very sick with a cold and had a nose running like a faucet! His nose was extremely red, very irritated, and dry! I applied the balm to his nose after bath time. The product went on so smooth it took nearly seconds to apply, which is really great for a squirmy little boy! After sleeping all night, Cole woke up with smooth and moisturized skin. Even though he was still sick as a dog! I reapplied the balm a couple times a day to create a barrier from his runny nose and it worked like a charm! I would recommend this product to anyone, not just children, who get chapped skin. With my hand being in water for most of the day, hand creams just wash away with water. The Erbaviva balm stayed on my hands and didn't wash away until I used soap! Great product for everyone!
Olliebee here and excited to review some baby/kid friendly products! This is right up my alley since I've been a stay-at-home mom to my 3 yr old daughter for the past year+. My daughter has become a product junkie at a very early age. I'm, of course, so excited about this but a little bothered when she uses my last ounce of lotion or spills my mineral makeup everywhere. Oh well, hopefully we'll be shopping at Sephora together for years to come.Babylove, I feel for you and all other parents who have kids with allergies. I know it must be extremely hard and stressful. We've been lucky in that area...my daughter isn't allergic to anything. But we have noticed her skin is really sensative. It turns red just from being hugged and she has little bumps along her hairline on her face down to her chin. I think she has extremely dry skin and I slather Aquaphor on her every winter! We tried a similar product to the Erbaviva with no result so I was so excited to try this. I know some people have issues with "organic" smells. I LOVE them! I love anything medicinal smelling...lavender smelling. Its just so clean smelling and makes me feel like everything is right with the world! I gave my daughter the stick (because everything at this age is "let me do it myself") and she took it and made a straight line from her mouth up to her eye. Unfortunately, a few minutes later she had a red streak going up her face where she had put it on. A little while later after her tub, she had two hives right in the Erbaviva path. Something didn't agree with her, not sure what. But I still love it so this one will be in the bag...for me!
Welcome! I too have eczema and will have to give this product a try! I'm not a mom so I didn't really know there were 'beauty' items for kids besides smackers lip balm. lol!
Poor boys! Can't be easy being allergic to nearly everything. I know my sister used to get these really horrible rashes on her face when growing up, and no amount of moisturisers seemed to help her. One day, however, she just grew out of it. I hope that will happen to your boys too.Anyhow, I'm looking forward to hearing about more baby friendly products, if nothing else so because usually I do love the products on myself too and feel much safer knowing they are properly tested (at least, I do hope they are!).
StacyB here! I am so excited that there are baby products on here! I love reading this site but with a 10-month old, I rarely have the time or money to experiment with all the great products reviewed here. But, if they are baby products, I can justify spending money, it's for my little munckin! (it takes away that selfish feeling...you know, the one I had yesterday when I bought the Jelly Pong Pong lip glosses....)So, I have been using this product for the past week and I was surprised about the results! I'm a pretty big skeptic, especially about stuff that's organic or might have a really strong smell. I know there are a lot of products out there that claim to be organic that really aren't, or are, and don't work.I'm happy to say I was wrong! My son Kyle has always had fairly dry skin. Our doctor recommended Eucerin, and it's worked pretty well. And with summer just ending, the warm humid air really helped him out. However, he's always had this little drool rash/dry skin patch under his chin and down his neck. He already has 6 teeth, so there was some serious drool there for awhile, and he's getting more teeth now and the faucet is back on. I have tried extra Eucerin, Vasaline Intensive Care and even straight Vaseline and it never went away. It would get better, and then within a few days it was back.I tried the Erbaviva and not only was it really easy since it was a thicker tube and went on smooth, but within a few days, that patch of dry skin was gone. TOTALLY GONE! I've been fighting it for months, and just a few swipes of this glue-stick looking thing and it was healed. Back to fresh baby skin! I also tried it on myself. Pretty good for a chapstick, but I found a surprising use for it. After a long day in the sun on Labor Day, I had a little bit of sun burn around my hairline. The next morning it looked like it was about to peel and I had a few flakes of skin in my hair. Gross. I swiped the Erbaviva across my hairline and that was the end of dry skin. I didn't peel at all, and by that afternoon, the skin was soft and tan. My only drawback is the scent. It's a bit strong. And definitely a bit 'earthy-crunchy'. My husband didn't love it. He told me I smelled 'different' (and I know it wasn't in the good way). I personally don't like things that are really strongly scented and this was fairly strong. After using it on Kyle, I used my finger to get it in the little creases in his neck and all morning at my office every time I typed something, I got a whiff of a mediciny-minty-rosemary sort of smell. I think I started to get used to it though, because Kyle never smelled weird to me. But that's really my only negative.I have already recommended this to a co-worker whose boys have sensitive skin also. I hope she has as much success as I did!
SO great to have you and such an important topic! Babies both large and small NEED to be protected and soothed and this sounds like a fabulous line of products!I'm always o a hunt for baby-shower gifts that go "beyond" pink/blue teddy bears and will absolutely give these a try asap! :)I can't imagine the fun of being Meg's sister....I have 5 myself and it can be SO "interesting!"I'm thrilled you are here with us!!!
Love it so far! I've been using it on myself and both kids. My 2 year old daughter is obsessed with any sort of "lipstick" as am I, with any sort of lip balm. I love the scent, so clean and natural. More importantly, I'm finding that I can use it on my 6 month olds "dry spots" (on his thighs). I'm thinking that he has eczema. He's already proving to be allergic to many things, including mosquito bites, so I'm excited to have a product that doesn't irritate his extremely sensitive and fair skin. I've only been using it for a few days but it definitely seems to help the spots.
Yay! Kid products… to us moms it does not get any better! My daughter gets very dry skin, especially in the winter. We have tried so many creams and find that eucerin works the best… but it is SOOO greasy and hard to apply, especially when they want to do it themselves. The erbaviva is so convenient!!!!! A small tube that you can sick anywhere. My daughter loved that she could use it herself- she was smearing the stick all over her face. Her skin was so soft after a couple hours. I used it on my lips (I always have chapped lips) and it helped so much! The smell is very strong! My daughter said it smells like root beer! I would defiantly recommend this to any adult/baby/kid!

Welcome babylove, so excited to be a part of this!! I am a stay at hom mom to my boys who are 2yrs 8mths and almost 4. I am really excited to try these products on them. I have used this erbaviva stick on myself and my little guys. I love, love the smell! Its so clean. It reminds my of something from my childhood but I can't put my finger on it..anyway...I tried it on my lips, and loved it..also tried it on my elbows since they seem to be very dry and it makes them much softer, and even on my hands which are very dry from washing them so much. Love it.Also have used it on my sons cheeks and it makes them softer and a little pinkish like he has a happy flushed look, very cute. He loves to smell it and try to put it on himself..very cute. He is playing with it right now as I type this and is trying to put it on my cheeks..haha.Great product and I love thats it organic to boot!
Welcome Baby Love - and like Gem, I do not think that song will EVER leave my head now! I'm humming it and my husband's looking at me kinda funny. No babies here - but I'm excited to see this addition to the MMU group of writers. My husband has extremely sensitive skin with eruptions from time to time, so I'll get him some of this. I just won't tell him about the baby part, since the manly man part of him would then reject it. Thanks for the helpful info!
Carole
I bet that would be really helpful for anyone (not just babies!) with extremely sensitive skin and/or eczema. Love the natural ingredients and the price sure seems right! My sister has mega-sensitive skin--I'll suggest this to her.
Totally agree!! I've got extra sensitive skin and eczema on my chest/back and definitely will look into these products!
This is a fantastic idea BabyLove, welcome! This is going to help so many of us with children, not to mention the adults that have similar skin concerns. My girls were blessed with much of the same skin funk that I enjoy so this will be most useful.I can't wait to hear more!Much Love!Dawn
Welcome Meg's sister BabyLove!I've never heard of this stuff. I have a friend for whom I need to buy a present today, and she's got reallllly sensitive skin and tons of allergies, so you totally inspired me to look for this and make a little gift bag.THANK YOU!
The products sounds wonderful I'm a working allergic reaction too :( I have Asthma as a result I'm allergic to House dust mite, Cats, Dogs, grass pollen and Alternaria I have Eczema too so i have to watch what i use !! Welcome to the forum x
Welcome to the site! I know there's plenty of moms around here that could use the info! Its a great idea. What you put on your children is a ZILLION times more important than what goes on you. And often times their skin is alot more sensitive tha ours too!Great to have you aboard!
Tan is Love
Cool babylove! I have heard of this stuff before and you would never guess where...at basic training/rotc boot camp, one of my platoon's drill sergeants recommended this for sun exposure, So I know this stuff really works. The good this is it is organic and the ingredients are super soothing, I only used it once though. After leaving training I had totally forgot about this stuff so I am going to go check out the site now! I think this is hilarious that she uses this because the drill sergeant never told us it was for babies.
;) Gloss & Gum <3
I love this product. I have used it everyday since recieving it. My almost two year old son has gotten rashes and hives from some of the moisturizers I have tried on him in the past, even the ones for sensitive skin. The Erbaviva not only didn't cause any rash on his skin, it also moisturized much better than I expected. I love that it isn't greasy or hard to rub in like other moisturizers. My son wants to try to do everything himself now so the tube it comes in is easy for him to hold. He could put it on himself without making a mess or destroying it. The only thing I don't love is the smell but overall it is one of the best moisturizers I have used for dry sensitive skin.
Welcome, and I can't wait to read your reviews! I don't have children but I DO have extra sensitive skin that reacts negatively to almost every product I try on it. Products meant for babies generally have less harsh chemicals and ingredients, which is really great for anyone with difficult skin.
Mmm I love the packaging, really gives off that NATURAL feel to the stuff. My skins not too bad, so I probably wont go and order this stuff, but if I ever cross paths with it at a good price, I'll definitely pick one up!
Welcome, Babylove. Great review, it looks like a very appealing product.
Indi
when my sister was little she had really horrible allergic reactions to pretty much any products... i wish there were sensitive skin products like that in those days...
my kids are pretty allergic too. mainly food allergies but they have had some awful skin reactions to bath products too. the food allergies i blame on hubby (don't know why but i reckon he can take the rap for something!) and the skin reactions are probably my fault. i have fairly reactive skin too and am careful about the products i use. it's a PITA!
My son get very dry lips and will try. Thanks for the infor
Sounds like a great venture. Many people are interested in baby products. I loved reading your review. Even though I don't have kids or plan on having any I wanted to try the product for myself lol
Welcome :)I don't have any babies, but like mjsred said, I'm always looking around for good products for my friends and my little nieces and nephews. This sounds like an awesome product though. The smell actually sounds really nice to me as well.
Althoug I have allergies to pollen, pet dander, dust, etc...I am lucky enough not to be allergic to too many things. My 5 year old cousin, on the other hand, is allergic to everything. I will be recommending this to my aunt for her baby boy.
My scrapbook shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/elle71125
I want to get some for my niece, but she is only 4 mos., and I think you have to wait until 6 mos. to put anything on their skin. On the other hand, my sister puts baby cream and lotion on her, so this should be fine, and I like the idea that it has more natural ingredients than the Johnson's products we use on her now. So I think I will get some. Btw, your boys are super adorable!
This sounds like a great product for us sensitive adults to try in the winter when not only is our eczema acting up but out lips and hands get chapped.Where can be find this line? Drugstore, online?
BabyLove I can so relate to your poor children's conditions! I am a walking, talking allergy - it's ridiculous. Pets, dust, pollen, grass - I'm allergic to it ALL. Plus there's a few random vegetable and fruit allergic reactions to deal with as well [hello cucumber and avocado - two of my favourite things that make me swell and break out in hives!!!].This product sounds amazing and definitely something I could use when the eczema flares up. I generally go to a solarium once per week to keep my skin conditions under control - the vitamin D in the light really really helps a huge amount. That said, I totally understand you wouldn't want your children undergoing that kind of UV exposure at such a young age. Thanks for your column, I'm really looking forward to reading it as a] a walking allergy, and b] as I look after my partner's young children and would love some personal product recommendations for them - especially organic ones. :]
This is a great series to add to the line at MegsMakeup! I always want to know where to find the best organic products that I could use without feeling guilty later. (My worst indulgence is using acetone and all kinds of polishes...)

Hi megs sis! Do you or your hubby have sensitive skin?..the poor little dears! I have very fair sensitive skin and have been looking for something that doesnt clog my poors but at the same time really soaks and hydrates my face for that fresh healthy look..this might be it. I have visited the site and picked up the lip and cheek balm and the baby cream..I'm hoping I don't have a reaction so I can get the awaken line as well..Thanks babylove!
Beauty=Pain
Yes, my husband has very light, sensitive skin and strawberry blonde hair! William has his exact coloring, but I think Calum is going to have more my skin tone (hopefully).
Wow, I need to get this for a friend of mine. His whole family has eczema.
Grass and certain plants make my super itchy, but I'm not aware of anything I'm allergic to. My partner is allergic to a few things like something in big kevs goo remover, but he has allergie to everything from dust to pet hair...
great article, thanks! I deal with eczema and other misc. skin conditons so if it is gentle enough for baby skin it has to be gentle enough for mine. Plus all organic is never a bad thing!
If he's not allergic, oatmeal baths are some of the most calming, gentle things to sooth itch red skin, including eczema!

My mum actually has very sensitive skin and gets contact dermatitis all the time, especially from soap and other highly fragranced things.. I wonder if this line would be beneficial for her!I'm always looking out for products to benefit my aunt who's pregnant with her first child (she's 27 btw) so I'm thrilled about this new 'series'! :D
Okay, so I am 18 - and I don't have kids. Not planning to for at least seven years! I still enjoy reading all of this to see what I would use when I do have kids. That way, I will already be set and prepared! However, my boyfriends family is having kids like crazy! His brother has a one year and a newborn, and both of his other sisters are about to have more kids! I am getting some great ideas on presents for them!

Hmm, I have a baby shower to attend - what a great tip!
The website says it's also good on hands, so it seems that you could use it pretty much anywhere. One of my coworkers is allergic to everything you can imagine, and she's very into organic products. She also happens to be pregnant right now, so this would make a great little gift -- thank you!
Never tried it, but sounda awesome
