JEANNINE BROUSSEAU TRANSFORMS ELENI AND STYLEMAMA!
Stylemama here! Do you believe in the perfect haircut? I’ve always thought that the right cut could actually make me love my hair. Makes me wonder, if I could love my hair, what else could I love? The catalyst for change can often be found in the most simple of places. We’ve all seen the Dove commercials right? Can a haircut do that too? Hell yeah it can, especially when it’s L.A. stylist Jeannine Brousseau doing the cutting. The hottest A-list stars out there are sporting her styles. If you are looking for a haircut that is as unique to your hair type and face shape as prints are to fingers, then look no further.
Thanks to our beloved Meg I got to experience all that and more. Meg always tells us how lucky she is, but as we all know, because of her we are the lucky ones. She arranged for a haircut of a lifetime for me with the one and only, Jeannine Brousseau. Pretty amazing, right?
Within minutes of meeting Jeannine I knew everything about this appointment was going to be different. This beautiful, petite woman exuded a quiet strength and confidence that told me I was about to get the haircut that so far seemed like nothing more than an urban legend.
Her one chair, strategically placed in the center of her gorgeous salon tells each client just how important she is. Even though the consultation felt like a regular conversation, I could sense something bigger was taking place. She asked all the right questions and skillfully read between the lines. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated that. Have you ever agreed to a haircut you didn’t want because you were uncomfortable, confused, or just too nervous to express yourself? It’s literally impossible to do this with Jeannine.
She decided to cut my hair completely dry. Whether it’s done wet or dry depends entirely on the individual. Everything about her approach revolves around what is best for the person in front of her. She puts each client into a category of one.
After the first part of my cut, my natural curls looked better than they ever had. They were soft, perfectly placed and frizz free from every angle, imagine a full 360 degrees of fabulous style. Next, she wet my hair down, styled it with the blow dryer and round brush and snipped a bit more here and there, giving it those important final touches. As she styled my hair she also taught me how to do it. Both looks are easy to accomplish and 100% authentic. Jeannine never tried to turn me into something I wasn’t or leave me with something impossible to duplicate. Even better, I’m no longer forced to use electricity to have great looking hair. Wow.
I’ve never worn my hair in such a natural state and gotten so many compliments. Stylepapa loves it and I even had an elderly gentlemen with the most charming southern accent say, “Why, look at that lady with the curly hair. It looks real nice, you look real good.” I wanted to run up and hug that old man but instead I smiled and thanked him from the bottom of my heart.
Jeannine’s unique approach represents everything Megsmakeup.com stands for. She gets it, we all want to feel good about ourselves and the beauty we were born with while still maintaining the option of going full on glam when the mood strikes.
As I left her salon I was so happy and literally filled with gratitude. I knew I’d never look at my hair the same way again. It feels so good to be able to live what I’m always trying to teach my girls. Natural is beautiful.
Can you imagine how great it must feel to have a gift like Jeannine’s? When was the last time you were inspired to go more natural and really embrace your God given attributes?
Eleni here! I'm one of those crazies that obsess about their hair.
As a result of that, I find it really hard to trust people cutting it since I'm never completely satisfied with the result and I always end up having long breaks between haircuts. Long, painful, bad hair breaks
Last time I had my hair cut was 2008. Since then I've been trimming my bangs on my own - I had my good moments and I had my have-to-wear-a-hat moments. Last week I started whining to Megan that I need grooming. My bangs have gotten too long so I couldn't see very well. I threatened her that if she doesn't take me somewhere to be groomed I wouldn't be able to work for megsmakeup anymore.
Megan, being Megan found the best that's out there to do my hair, Jeannine Brousseau. Under one condition though: that I would let her do whatever she wanted.
Normally, ultimatums don't work well with me. My expected reaction would have been to run to the bathroom with a pair of scissors and cut it myself, then come out triumphantly (but crying on the inside).
But my even more normal self would never want to miss the opportunity to have her hair cut by the magic hands that have also given Beck, Winona Ryder and Charlize Theron a haircut. Hello?
So I went with the flow and I gave Jeannine all my trust. Getting a haircut from Jeannine is almost like going to my psychic: "Well my dear, your aura is not as red as it suits you, listen to what you'll do". Jeannine would be like "well my dear, the shape of this strand of hair does not fit to what you're all about right now, let me trim it". She can almost see through you and know what you like before you will know it.
Thanks Jeannine, I'm even more obsessed with my hair now.
Change your hair! Change your life! Call Jeanine Brousseau!

I HAVE to let everyone know that I had NO idea about Stylemama and Eleni's post today. Isn't it funny how great minds think alike! Looks like I'm not the only one who wants it all for hair. Curly AND straight depending on my whim. It's all about me after all. JK!!!!!Can't wait to see your cuts girls!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
I love watching girls get haircuts! I especially liked Stylemama's haircut because her hairtype most resembles my own. I have been growing my hair out for the past two years and now am craving my lovely short haircut I had again.

aw you guys are so lucky!! She did do an amazing job! I cant wait til i can get to that point when iam amazing also!
You lucky lucky ladies! What a treat to be able to get such an awesome cut from someone that has a totally different way of doing hair than most stylists. They should make a class for stylists to take so they can be as great as Jeannine seems to be. I would love to have someone really think about what I want and what would work for me and put it all together is such an awesome way. Meg, you are awesome! We all love you for it!
Your new hair cuts look great! Jeannine is a real artist. How exciting it must have been to go to such a great hair stylist. Enjoy your new styles.

I don't live in Hollywood so I can't visit Jeannine, but I do have my own treasure, Ric Stone. He is so good that I cringe when I think of how my hair used to look. Ric is great about looking at your hair and talking to you before each cut, asking you what worked and if anything didn't. He then washes your hair (with great, strong hands) and cuts it wet, then styles and dries it. He teaches you how to style your hair and it's never high maintenance but it looks great. If you have a problem with your hair, he takes responsibility for it and recuts your hair at no charge. And, bangs trims are always free. He is a real find! Hats off to hairdressers!!!
Moema....always a Mom first
This was such a special day in my life. It was fun, liberating and full of exciting change. I am so blessed and so incredibly grateful. I'm almost speechless....... almost. ;)MEGKEN YOU SO TOTALLY ROCK, THIS VIDEO IS AWESOME!!!! AGAIN, THANK YOU TO MEG AND JEANNINE FOR SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Eleni, you look super beautiful! WOWxoxox Dawn
I LOVED watching that video! Jeannine is fabulous and I must start saving up for a trip to LA that includes a visit to her salon. I want a life-changing haircut too! Meg - you are so sweet to treat Eleni and Dawn to this experience. You have a big heart - but we already knew that, didn't we? Eleni - the new cut is not all that different from what you had - but the subtle differences make it so young and lively. I'm happy for you!Dawn - I want your hair. Really. Right now! When you first sat down in Jeannine's chair, I thought your hair looked great. You have the right amount of curl - not too much, just right. But I could see as she started snipping, how much more character and life it started to have. Love the color, love the style! What til Stylepapa and the girls see you!

That video was cool. Loved Dawn's cut the best because I have curly hair. Wish I could get my hair cut by someone so fab...wait I have in Vegas. I forget her name but she's Al Pacino's sister in law and she also gives psychic readings about you while styling your hair. Kinda weird and creepy but really different and fun!I agreed to the Jennifer Aniston cut when I was 10. With crazy curly hair. That was a HUGE mistake. I hate my 5th grade picture forever now. Complete with coke bottle 1990's oversized style glasses. And the shirt and matching dyed jeans (bright turquoise) from the Limited Too. DISASTER.
stylemama Wow I love your new hair cut !!!! How lovely for you !!! x x
Congratulations!!I had a perfect haircut once...but then I couldn't find that stylist again! Rumor had it she got deported. Lucky ladies in her home country
i never had a perfect haircut, i am glad to see when people find a good stylist! i am sticking to very basic haircut to avoid trouble :)
Lovely haircuts, and lovely stylist. Reminds me I have to get my long tresses cut soon too.Once in upper secondary school I partook in a school newspaper "redo" me project. It was quite scary, since the condition was that the hair stylist got to do whatever she wanted with my hair.I met her the first time the day before the cut, since she wanted to have a look at my hair and probably get an idea of my personality. Needless to say, I had begun to regret agreeing to partake in the project and was rather nervous. What if she would colour my hair, or cut it short or something? But just like Jeannine she had this way of just reading in between the lines, taking in my personality...It was quite amazing, the way she immediately decided to keep as much length as possible and not colour treat it (telling me it would be a pity, with hair as beautiful as mine). She opted for soft layers, and curls that were both soft, romantic, playful, easy to care for and allowed me to play around with different ways of putting it up. That was the single best experience I have ever had at a hairdresser. I just was so happy with the cut, and filled with energy and love for my hair. So yes, I do firmly believe in the perfect haircut. Though it was hell growing those curls out again, since the curly part had a tendency to tangle when I started needing real brushing again but I could not face just cutting it off until my hair had grown back straight again.
Okay first, watching the video of you guys getting your hair cut was SUCH A TREAT! Thank you for letting us see the magic happen!Second, I am totally jealous of both of you lucky ladies..you both have fabulous hair and now a fabulous haircut to match!
If I lived ANYWHERE near Hollywood I would be in that salon right now! Unfortunately I can't afford the $800 CAD plane ticket....I've never had a perfect haircut. I usually just get them to cut it straight with a few layers now. I basically have given up *whimpers*
Wow. You guys are so lucky! I love both your haircuts, it turned out great!
Geeze... If only I could find a supa hairstylist would be a start.
i recently just got the best haircut ever. i've never liked my hair better. i don't have to style it as much and it still looks great. the cut matters!
I really enjoyed watching and listening, thankyou both for sharing your experience. Your haircuts look marvelous!!
I don't think I've ever had a best haircut ever! I've given up hope.
Stylemama your hair rocks it looks so sexy now..WoW who knew a trim could do so much, the cut really makes you look like a 24 year old about to hit the south beach scene LOOOVE IT!
;) Gloss & Gum <3
I enjoy watching other people getting their haircut haha.
Wow, Stylemama I have to say I love your posts. You write with such a beautiful, quiet, descriptive power and I just savour every word. It sounds strange coming from someone who's reading your posts on a beauty forum, but I wanted you to know that even when you're writing about products or cosmetics or hair-styles you manage to convey such a great feel and I really enjoy what you have to say. Keep up the amazing writing - you inspire me. :]Also, your hair looks incredible in this video! I completely agreed with Jeannine's thoughts and I loved what she did for both you and Eleni! And last but definitely lot least, MEG! OH MY GOSH MEG!! I love that you did this for two of our beautiful, wonderful members! Good hair is such a precious gift. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You make the world a much brighter place. :]
its so difficult to have a hair stylist that you can sit down and be completely at ease with trust that she/he can do it so you'll love it. i actually do have a hair stylist that meets all these categories. unfortunately, she lives in Taiwan and i'm only able to get haircuts from her every couple of years.in the US, i've been looking for good hair stylists that don't cost too much... tomorrow i'm getting a haircut from a much recommended salon- hopefully it'll go well! it's more expensive than i normally get here, $40, but if it's worthwhile... :)
xoxo
I wish I got gifts like that! I am kind of hating my haircut right now, but I am stuck with my $15 one for now.I kept wondering, "who is filming this??" while watching the video, but I did catch a glimpse of the guy towards the end (11:20). Perhaps it is Megken?Oh I also saw Meg in the background!? Why no hello? It was awesome of you to do that for Eleni and Stylemama!!
I would totally love to go to a stylist and just tell them to do what they wanted. I've tried that before, but no one ever will take me up on it. I mean, they're the pro, I just want something that looks the best with my face and my features. Loving the video too by the way. There should def be more videos on this site :)
haha great video documentary!and I want it all too! Curly and straight!!! hahahy cant we just have a button or something. Ugh its so much work!Im hoping that im embracing my natural talents by going to vet school. Ive always been good with animals!Lol if not Ive already wasted a TON of money!!!
Tan is Love
I am one of those who totally love makeovers and it was a pleasure to watch it.First thing i want to say that I love how the video player looks i feel like watching Megsmakeup 's channel and it's exciting I can't wait for more to come !!!Secondly I LOVE how Jeannine cut Elani 's BANGS the triangle make her look like a Pinup and I love it I am so inspire as a BANGS owner lol

Hollywood http://thehollywoodheels.blogspot.com
You girls are too cute! both of your haircuts look FAB!!! She is such a great hairdresser, I love how she walks you through the whole cut and really knows how to listen!
Both of your haircuts are GORGEOUS! It's amazing that Jeannine tailors her approach to each and every client. You can tell that she really works to achieve the best hairstyle for every one of her clients. .
PS - great video Megken! Keep 'em coming!
How awesome is that?! A girls day out to get your hair done! Looks like so much fun. Although this site is mainly about makeup, I love when people go further than that and look at cultures, skin care, and hair. All that makeup wont help a terrible haircut! I loved both the looks.
Wow, that sounds amazing. That sounds haircuts to die for. I've found that my hair looks the best in a bob. It's fairly easy to maintain, just have to use a flat iron on it every once in a while. Currently, I'm attempting to grow my hair out, and I struggle with frizz. It looks good though most of the time.
I loved watching the video! It was so good. Ladies, your new styles are fabulous and you both look like a million.
Wish I had someone like that nearby, that I could afford!

I agree - the idea of my hair looking great without much time spent styling it is wonderful, but I have never found a hairdresser that could provide it :(
I would love to get a hair cut from a real pro, I've never really done anything with it, I need the advise. I need a real change... :(
ohhhh Girl you're so sweet .. you're haircut is georgous !!! i love it !!!
Jeannine is such a pro.She told us that she wants us to live with our new hair for a bit, get used to it, observe what we like and what we don't - and then go for a freshen up session in a couple of weeks. She does this for all her customers, she really wants you to love your hair!
Inspired by Eleni and Dawn's new hair styles, I went for my own hair makeover today! I went to a local salon (diva colour studio) and had an appointment with the owner. He's been written up in Vogue as an amazing colorist. I told him that he could do whatever he thought best with my hair - only stipulation was that I wouldn't have to blow my hair dry. I wanted easy on-the-go hair ... but I also needed it to look good. So - the results? I feel great and am very pleased with my new look. Unfortunately, it cost a queen's ransom - but what's a queen to do?
Carole
CAC, Exactly what you did of course, you beautiful, beautiful woman you! Love the new look, fabulous!Thank you to all the ladies that gave us such positive feedback. You are as wonderful to us, as Jeannine was to our hair, wow! MUAH!
I love new cuts, it's always scary to go to someone new, even if they have good recommendations, but it would be awesome to go to a pro!
Letitahttp://letitaslogic.blogspot.com/
Wow.. that was really interesting watching Jeannine work. She looks like a true artist, the way she analyzes and approaches the hair. I especially liked the way she cut Stylemama's hair.. most of the 'stylists' I've been to just chop into my curly hair, the same way they do with everyone. I love that Jeannine took time with individual sections and curls instead of just cutting everything at once. You ladies looked fabulous before but those cuts really are amazing!
Makeovers are fun to see.
I just got my hair cut last week and colored and I feel like a new woman! It really does wonders. :)
Stylemama I LOVE your hair. Oh my goodness that looks so good, I could cry for you. Seriously.
I have never been more jealous- in a great way! :) I love how you phrase it- the urban legend. Don't we all dream of this haircut? Especially us curly haired girls- I can't imagine how much simpler my life would be if my curls would look great naturally everyday. Wow, so great just to know that the perfect haircut does exist- even if I havent found it yet.
I think it's better to change your haircut once in awhile than to stick with the perfect one.
