GARNIER NUTRITIONISTE SKIN RENEW OVERNIGHT REGENERATING CREAM!
Hi everyone! It's Kellie here, filling in for our beloved Gigi today. Sometimes there is nothing more comforting than lounging on your couch, snuggling under a blanket, and watching a fabulous romantic comedy. Although I could do this anytime, for obvious reasons this is a delightful Fall/Winter activity. I find this to be a highly relaxing and rejuvenating experience. One of my favorites is the 1995 Sandra Bullock classic, While You Were Sleeping. Come on, you remember the light and frothy film about a girl who is in love with two brothers, one of whom is in a coma. Of course heartfelt hilarity ensues but also good things happen while someone is sleeping. As I recently learned, good things can happen for all of us while we’re sleeping too! If you are looking to rejuvenate your skin the way a good movie rejuvenates the soul then read on.
Getting a good night of sleep is important for a myriad of reasons. I for one had never really considered what sleep did for my skin. When you sleep, your skin has its best chance for optimum self repair. Your skin cells tend to regenerate at a higher rate during sleep. Additionally, while you sleep your skin care products have a greater potential to succeed without degradation from other cosmetics, sunlight, and pollutants.
Obviously, the first steps in achieving successful overnight skin rejuvenation are to get plenty of sleep and to drink an obscene amount of water. The next step is to find a great night moisturizer. Of course, this is a drugstore review. So I scoured the shelves of my local CVS to find the perfect night moisturizer that would also fit my meager drugstore budget. Frankly, I don't know how poor Gigi writes this column. The drugstore choices are endless and I am terribly indecisive. My hat is off to her as usual! It was difficult to choose, but I finally zeroed in on Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Overnight Regenerating Cream.
According to the company, "Garnier Nutritioniste Skin renew is our 1st overnight regenerating cream with boosted levels of dermatological nutrients. It takes advantage of skin's nightly cellular processes fueling natural cellular turnover. Every night, old dull cells are replaced with fresh new ones, smoothing away fine lines and roughness." After your nightly skin cleansing routine, apply this light weight cream to your face and neck. I have only used the cream for about one week, so I am not prepared to call this a miracle product. Frankly, I don't believe that there is any truly magic bullet solution to combat aging. But I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised by this cream. It is truly light weight. I have very oily skin. But since using this I have been thrilled to wake up far less oily. I also have very sensitive acne-prone skin. This product has caused me no irritation and no additional break-outs. This cream does have a scent, but I found it to be mild and pleasant. Also, it eventually subsided. I have definitely noticed an improvement in my skin's overall clarity. I am experiencing a smoother texture and a new-found brightness. I will certainly continue using the cream as long I keep getting such positive results. Realistically, just like anything, this will not work for everyone. But I do recommend giving it a try if it piques your interest. Remember, you can return it if it doesn't provide you with positive results. If you are seeking an all-natural product this is not for you. This cream can be found in almost any drugstore and it retails at approximately $13 for a 1.7 fl oz tube.
Tell us about your experiences with this product, or give us the dirt on what you use while you are sleeping.
*And just for fun, what is your favorite romantic comedy?

I love Garnier products! I have not been disappointed in a single Garnier product I have tried. I have yet to venture out of their haircare line as I use mark and Clinique products as my daily skin regimen and have yet to add an overnight face cream to the list. Should I add this to my skin regimen? After this review I'm thinking perhaps I should start taking better proactive steps towards fighting the signs of aging. But at just 24 I feel lazy to spend the money on products like these. Maybe I should start caring more! lolMy fave romantic comedy is Sleepless In Seattle :)
I personally prefer a more natural skin care regime so this will be a no go for me. I love hearing about the great results you received with it, though. I suffer from oily. acne prone skin as well but find that using my handmade cleansers & jojoba oil are really doing the trick for me. My skin looks great ever since I started using them.My fav romantic comedy is an oldie. Roman Holiday is a movie I could watch a gazillion times. Same for Funny Face. I adore Audrey Hepburn and chances are you can find me on the couch watching an Audrey movie when I have the free time.EDIT: I completely forgot about New In Town. That movie was so funny that even my boyfriend couldn't resist watching it with me. LOL.
I use Lancome Collaser 5x serum and sometimes Jason's Vitamin E oil when I'm sleeping. I've tried some Garnier skincare products and really like them, though, so maybe I'll give this a try. I love romantic comedies, it's so hard to pick just one! I think Love Actually is the one I've seen the most times, though, and it never gets old!
I've been looking around at reviews for nighttime skincare. Maybe I'll give Garnier a try. Currently I use an Olay moisturizer. The Ugly Truth was the funniest romantic comedy I've seen in a long time.
All summer I have used Burt's Bee's Night Cream. I started the early summer with BB's Radiance night cream, which I really liked. It has a silky texture, was very moisturizing and did not cause breakouts. When that ran out I bought BB's Pomegranate Anti-aging night cream. This was a little lighter in texture and more easily absorbed. I also love the Lancome Collaser 5x serum, but I believe it calls for moisturizer over it. I tried using it on its own and after a week or so, my skin was a little tight and dry. I need a new night cream though, so I may give the Garnier a try, thanks!

Lately I've been using the Murad Active Radiance serum overnight (thanks Meg!) and I'm liking it though. This sounds like a great drugstore find though! And, for fun, fave romantic comedy: Love Actually, hands down.
It sounds good. I've always been intrigued by Garnier products. The one lotion I tried from them had too strong a scent. It was their 'Skin Renew' daily regenerating serum. Does anyone know if the scent on this is as strong?I know you said it dissipates, but the hubby gets instant headaches from stuff like that. Thanks for the review!

Nothing marked Garnier will ever, ever enter my house after the Fructis hair loss and tangle catastrophe. I'm of course happy when people find products they like, but that's one brand that has lost my trust completely for ever more.Anyhow, what I use when going to sleep, except for a spray of my boyfriends cologne on the pillow I snuggle into when he's not there? Well, just my ordinary moisturiser (bad, I know!). ;)My favourite romantic comedy is without a doubt Notting Hill. Though the scene in the sequence to Bridget Jone's Diary where Mark and Bridget wake up, and he tells her he likes her wobbly bits and all just makes my heart melt every time.
Garnier has such a good price point I just want to love it. And I don't. I have been using the ultra lift pro roller and I have seen no results. No fewer lines, no plumping of the lines, nothing. It doesn't irritate my face, but it irritates me that it is another drugstore product with great claims and no results.
I have had oily skin for all my life, but recently my skin has done an about face and is now extremely dry (could it be age related? Horrors!) Anyway, I am looking for an under makeup moisturizer as well as a night time moisturizer to boost my moisture level. I'll check out the Garnier line to see if anything fits the bill there. I really like their prices as compared to those of department store products.I am loving the Twilight movie even though it's for teens. I'm a sucker for a guy who puts the girl first!
Moema....always a Mom first
This looks promising but I wonder how it would work on dry skin? Moema, I have the same problem as you. Extremely oily skin when younger, in my 29th year my skin like dried itself out and is so dry now...yet I still have acne! Ugh, will it ever go away?My fave romantic comedy is Just Friends.
i like paul mitchell better. but the sleek and shine line is pretty good and it smells gooood
I started using Korres skin brightening moisturizer because the lack of sleep that I put myself under often makes me look like I was socked in the face. Or at least that's what I thinkI saw the Ugly Truth not too long ago and have to say I loved it

I use Avon Anew at night, and during the day I've been using the Murad products Meg sent.I can't think of a romantic comedy, I'm not much of a movie-watcher.
While You Were Sleeping is one of my all time favs! Definitely in the top 5. My mom, sister and I all watched that movie together countless times. Whenever we eat mashed potatoes, one of us always has to say "these mashed potatoes are so creamy." (a line from the family dinner) We all die laughing. It's just one of those things...
I had a bad experience with the shampoo and cond. as like "Agnus0Nutter" stated in a previous post. I threw it out and will never use it again. I have never used any facial products in that brand. "a little scared". But the night cream does sound great!! I might give it a try. Fav. romantic comedy so far: P.S. I Love You.. :)
The Ugly Truth was pretty good. And I use Ponds Cold Cream sometimes. I alternate between creams.
I say this alot but my beauty routines change depending on the season this summer the last product to go on my face is biore restore skin boosting night serum...I use this stuff because it restores all the moisture I loose while out all day in the sun and salt water...ITS AMAZING! Hmmm..favorite romance comedies have to be My Best Friends Wedding starring Julia Roberts or The Wedding Date starring Debra Messing and that mega hunksicle Dermot Mulroney.
;) Gloss & Gum <3
I love anew gold emultion night from avon, it feels very velvety on the skin more like a serum than a cream and you only need use a tiny bit, i cant quite explain it but in the morning you look almost like you have had a holiday, not tanned just fresh and clean and rested (its hard to explain you just look better than the days when you havent used it!!!!) my mum loves this too and gets loads of compliments on how well she looks since she started using it!I cant think of a favourite romcom...............??!
Kellie I have to admit, I'm not a rom' com' kinda' gal'. Shocking, isn't it? Yes, I am a female and yes I don't like romantic comedies, or romance films in general. So shoot me! :PAs for this product, it sounds right up my alley - I have sensitive and oily skin and I'm always petrified of so-called "night creams". They tend to be wayyy too heavy for my skin and can cause a massive oil slick come morning. Perhaps this will be more to my liking? Also, I like the idea of it having a mild scent. I'm one of those people that prefers to smell her perfume over her cosmetics, y'know? :D
Shay-Rom Coms are like candy for me! A guilty pleasure. But I am a huge fan of all sorts of films. My two most favorite recent are District 9 and Inglorious Basterds. These are the complete antithesis of the Rom Coms!
I have really really oily skin so I always use a cleanser, then a face mask, and a finish off with a 24 hour moisturizer so my skin doesn't get too dry. it seems to work, but by the end of everyday, my skin is so oily. I have never gotten acne after doing this routine though, so i guess it works :)I LOVE romantic comedies. This is hard... the holiday? 27 dresses? 13 going on 30? soo difficult haha
I just saw this in the issue of Teen Vogue I got in the mail today! The packaging looks so sleek and pretty. :)I recently saw 500 Days of Summer, and it was one of the most adorable romantic comedies I've ever seen! It just might be a favorite.
Kellie, you are far too sweet! I am just getting to your piece now as I'm feeling awful, but what a review! Thank you for covering this. I had mixed feelings about Garnier's Eye Roller and appreciate your substantive, informative, and beautifully written piece. Now who should be a teacher? The way you instruct and review is a masterpiece! Love and God Bless, Gigi
I liked the smell of Garnier but their hair products left my hair really dull so I have yet to try their skincare. Thanks for the tips on its effectiveness. Have to say I couldn't pick just one romantic comedy. My Big Fat Greek Wedding, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Wedding Planner... theres a whole list
Style may be on the surface, but you can be deep and still have some - Clarissa Gough
I just wash my face and put on moisteriser! When it comes to romatic comedys Its so hard to choose one... Catch and realse, Run away bride, clueless.... the list goes on and on and on!! haha
I have been looking for a night time moisturizer but I am always afraid they will be too heavy. I have oily and very acne prone skin and I don't like risking breakouts. If this is as light as you say, I will be checking it out.

I never used Garnier products for skin before. Normally, my night regimen includes serum (Cosmeceuticals, i suspect i am too young for it), cream (Kiehls Abyssine- gets a B from me) and eye cream (Kiehls Imperiale- very greasy, but maybe it is good for night?) and lip treatment (Lip and Tuck, my favorite product,so far- I can see results, unlike with the rest of those products). And I love- Love Actually :) Not usually a fan of romantic comedies, but this one is great.
I keep hearing that Garnier skincare products are terrible! Glad to hear it getting good reviews. I don't stress over overnight vs. daytime too much. I just make sure that I am wearing some SPF in the daytime and thats it..Romantic comedies? Um virtually everything has some romance and some comedy, so pure romantic comedies can be too much for me. I remember really liking one though, I just can't remember the name!!!! Unlike the rest of my demographic, I didn't think that Twilight was too amazing, and that Edward couldve been cuter.
I really want to try this now. I have super oily acne prone skin and usually products like this wreck my skin. I get tons of pimples and other atrocities going on with my face. I'm curious about this. I think I might have to go buy some.As for romantic comedies, you can't go wrong with When Harry Met Sally, that's pretty much a classic.
Hmmm.... I have been looking into night creams and this is peeking my interest especially the price.
Oh, I loved that movie! And I had forgotten all about it. I was having a little love affair with Garnier until I tried that anti-puff eye-roller and they lost me. I always, always use retin-a, but I usually put some type of serum on top of it, I may try this one. For the price, I have little to lose even if I don't like it, and I have a long list of friends who benefit from my beauty "misses".
I am still searching for a great night cream and this sounds like something I should at least try. My sleep schedule is beyond bad, with sleeping during the day 3 days a week and sleeping at night the other 4. I will definitely give this a try.
ohh i can be interesting of this product because i guess its cheaper and good quality ....
I have been searching for a good night cream that is not too heavy for my combination skin - this one sounds like it might be worth a try. Thanks!
I love the garnier anti-puff eye roller! So I definitely think that this overnight cream sounds like something I would enjoy as well.

i have never heard of this product. but its sounds pretty decent especially from a drugstore. i have never used products from this brand either. i have the same problem when i go to drugstores, there are tons of products and i have no idea which one to buy. so confusing. it takes me forever. before i sleep i usually use proactiv, the cleansing solution helps exfoliate the skin. which is prettty :) then i use just there repairing lotion. xD but then when i wake up..its like oily skin @.@ soo hmm..not so sure
I like their hair dye. Their skin stuff is alright.
Somehow I rated this but didnt comment which is crazy because I really like this stuff! It's one of the few non "natural" skincare products I use. I havent used it in awhile, I think I'll start back on it. It makes my skin feel like a dream when I wake up, I'm less oily, and have a smoother texture, just like Kellie described!
I love how they try to make their product look so organic and natural with the packaging. I was considering this product for some time, but thanks to your honest and accurate reporting, now I know that it is not really worth it!
I've never been a fan of Garnier's products after using their shampoo, but maybe I'll give it a try again.
im not sure about this product. i love garnier's shampoos and conditioners, but have heard their skin line does nothing for one.
Adding to my list of things to try -- thanks!
this looks amazing! i really want to try this!

I'll recommend it to my mom!
not a fan of garnier. their ingredients are so cheap. nothing ever turns out right when i use them
