ANASTASIA'S - CLEAR BROW GEL
Hey Ladies, MissRo here! I am obsessed with my eyebrows. When I was younger and started modeling, I thought I had the thickest, bushiest eyebrows. I couldn't stand them. I would look at my pictures and cringe. One day when I was getting my makeup done for a shoot, I was talking with the makeup artist. I asked her about my eyebrows and if she wouldn't mind shaping them a bit. While she was shaping them, she showed me what to do.
Well, since then I have plucked, waxed, and threaded. You name it, I've done it. I can't go longer than two days without plucking my brows. If I see a hair, I have to pluck it. So of course I now have pretty thin brows, but I like them like that. Although, anytime I have to leave the house, I have to fill in my brows. Eventually, I would like to do permanent makeup so I just do not want to worry about putting makeup on them every time.
One product I cannot live without for controlling my brows and prepping them for makeup is Anastasia's Brow Gel. It's amazing! It's the perfect consistency and the brush is the perfect size and texture. There's never any clumping, the second you put it on it dries, and when you are applying makeup it doesn't flake off.
You can purchase Anastasia's line at Sephora or directly from her site.
Do you use a brow gel? Do you pluck, wax, or thread your brows?

I dye my brows using Just for Men facial hair dye so I don't bother filling them in with pencil or brow powder I do have to keep them well-shaped though
I'm a plucker. I don't have unruly brows though. I basically don't have enough hairs to have a problem! I know I'm a broken record but they're blonde, they're fine and they're sparse. I have to add color and shape to mine but they pretty much lay flat so I've never used Anastasia's brow gel. My favorite brow product is Benefit's Browzings. It has a wax and powder in it so I guess the wax does the same thing as the gel. If you're interested in permanent makeup, you should check out the thread in the forum. The ladies have weighed in on cosmetic tattooing. I'm pretty sure it's under Nips & Tucks.
I have very thick eyebrows but i'm too lazy and too short-shighted to shape them myself. All I do everyday is put transparent mascara on after make up to control the crazy ends. Maybe I must try the gel formula.
I am very lucky to have brows which need minimal maintenance. They're a good shape already so I pluck them once every 2 weeks to maintain that. I did have my eyebrows waxed once a couple of years ago but I didn't see much difference.I don't use a gel, but I do use Rimmel's Smokey Quartz (which is pretty much my colour eyebrows) eyeshadow to fill in my brows. They're not sparse but they just look better if they're a bit more filled in. It really frames your face!
I too am blessed with naturally great shaped brows. I do pluck every other week but only a few when I see them out of line. I'm not really a heavy make up or high makeup maintainence wearing person so I don't use any liner filler or gloss on my brows. What can I say i'm just lucky I guess!

i've never tried brow gel, my brows seem to be pretty "stable". I'm a compulsive plucker! I pluck at every opportunity, or whenever i see an odd re-grow-browi've never tried waxing my eyebrows... although when i went for a photoshoot once they tried to SHAVE bits off.. I was terrified...because weeks later the shaved area started growing like wild fire!

I'm a plucker and I hate my eyebrows. I have bought the Revlon Brow Fantasy gel/pencil and I have to say it's not that great. The pencil makes you feel like you are coloring with a crayon and the gel is just funky. It's colored and sticky. It's like having really stiff hairspray on your eyebrows. Some of you may have used it and liked it, but if you haven't I wouldn't waste the 6/7 dollars for it. I'm interested in this brow gel, is it sticky?
i get my brows threaded now b/c i never really liked waxing and now b/c the medicine im on from the dermatologist wont allow it. in between threading, i pluck. to hold my brows in place, i just use clear mascara. but i dont often have to b/c my brows only get unruly every now and then.

I have very fair skin and dark, sparse brows. So I have to fill them in or my face just looks unfinished. I usually just pluck them but once in a while I get them waxed, which I love having done because of the nice clean look afterwards, but growing them out in between drives me a bit nuts. I've tried a couple of brow gels but it always bugged me how they looked kind of oddly shiny when I had it on. Something tells me that Anastasia wouldn't let that happen, though! :)
I have never had those coveted "good brows"...I try to keep them shaped via plucking but they have sorta' shapeless, sparse, and now that greys have sprouted up,even more of a PITA! I fill in with Lorac's fab brow pencil in "Auburn",the best thing ever for Redheads and then brush with Mac's "Girl/Boy" brow gel...they end up looking decent and then I ignore them,LOL!
I'm obsessed with my eye-brows. I get them waxed, but threading is the best solution. I love brow gels but I prefer them tinted, because I like to have a strong brow. I learned the importance of good brows from my Grandmother, who had the most ridiculously perfect brows I've ever seen on anyone. There is a picture of her at 10 months, and you can see a clear arch - on a baby??? Regrettably I didn't inherit them, but I do the best I can with what I have.

I get my brows waxed! .. I cant stand plucking OR threading! That makes my stomach do flips! Ive never put make up on my brows because they are pretty dark! .. Once i freaked out because my eyebrows were to dark for my hair color and lightened them.. BIG MISTAKE! When the new ones grow in its even WORSE!!! haha
i had a sample of this, and i can attest- it lasts all day, dries clear, and it is a fabulous product to have for brows
I was just thinking I need some of this the other day as I'm sick of my eyebrows getting messed up they won't stay in place !!!
I have nearly invisible eyebrows - sparse and very light in color. They were blondish, but now grayish. So I have to dress them up every day. I use Anastasia's brow express. It has 2 colors of eyebrow color - one darker, one light, I mix them together. And it comes with brow wax and a brush. It works beautifully and stays on. My only issue with it is that it's large, so I never take it with me when i travel. Instead, I carry an old Laura Mercier eyebrow powder compact... no wax, but for a short trip, I make do. I think the Laura stuff has long exceeded its natural expiration - but it doesn't smell and it works fine. I can't throw it away.

"dress them up" ha - love it!
I'm also lucky enough to have low-maintenance brows. It's the only part of me that's low-maintenance! I do absolutely nothing with them, and even when I do, they still look the same.
I'm also one of the lucky ones. All I have to do is pluck the strays and fill in a little bit. I count it as one of my blessings.
I've been getting my brows threaded lately, which I really like. I just moved, though, and can't find a place around here that does it :( I normally pluck a few stray hairs in between sessions if I see them and that's about it. My brows are very blonde, though, and look strange with my darker hair, so I fill them in with pencil or powder pretty much every day. I tried having them tinted once but it didn't last very long. Maybe I'll try King Taco's suggestion of Just for Men :)
I hate unruly brows! i have done since i was younger i remember swimming with my sister whe we were young and getting really annoyed when she would come up from under the water with scruffy eyebrows and not smooth them out! i dont know why i just really cant bare it! (silly i know!) so yes i always always use clear mascara on my eyebrows!
I do all three. Mostly plucking and waxing, but I have tried threading and apparently its better for your eyebrows and the skin around your eyes. It hruts a alot more but its worth it IMO.Ive used clear mascara to hold my brows in place when I was younger, now I just leave them alone.
I love a strong beautiful brow. After filling mine in with either Anastasia's Powder or Lancome's Brow Pencil I like to dip my spool-y in a bit of Bio Oil and brush it into the brow hair. It makes the brows really pop. (Just be careful not to accidentally remove the powder or pencil you just applied.) It doesn't provide much hold but it does remove any unwanted shadow or face powder that may have inadvertently coated your brows. It's amazing how much brighter your eyes look after the Bio Oil goes on, I love that stuff!
Alright ladies, so here's the deal...when I can afford to, I get my brows waxed. Nothing says 'clean' like getting your brows shaped and waxed by a professional. When a lovely brow wax isn't in the cards financially, armed with my supersonic magnification mirror – three spot lights and a tweezer, I do the best I can myself. As to the the rest of my brow care, I operate outside the respected lines of behavior and have my own little tricks that I do. The gel type brow product I have used in the past is Maybelline Define-A-Brow Gel Clear Mascara for Eyebrows! I found it quite a while ago at Target and I see that Drugstore.com still carries it. The cost is about $4.99. It's a clear gel so no matter what color your brows are you can use this. It does an fairly good job in gathering your brow hairs into one nice looking more professional brow. You can use it over your brow pencil if you use it. The gel does wear off by the end of the day but if you wet your brows a little it kind of reactivates the gel qualities and you can just smooth them back into place again. (Carry a little clean mascara brush with you in your purse for reshaping.)
I try using brow color pencils but I hate all of them because they all look to me like somebody drew eyebrows on me. I know that if a PROFESSIONAL uses a brow pencil on me my brows do look far more pronounced. I have no talent in applying pencil/powder to my brows; I end up washing it off just about every time. So here's the part of my brow story that will make some of you cringe because I'm sure it's not anything ANYONE would recommend doing but it works for me.
See the thing is...for years I have watched and observed professionals who have either dyed and foiled my hair as well as beauticians who have dyed my brows. So...as old as I am, I have watched A LOT of how they do things so ladies...you have to know I have done a lot of self trial and error routines here in the privacy of my basement lab attempting to duplicate the processes I have been watching!!!!
So here is my secret that I figured out on my own that I would never recommend to anyone but that works for me!!! We are sharing brow information here right?? I figured this little trick out on my own both in correcting little hair mistakes and in a way to color my eye brows. I like to have my brows colored because I HATE the color they are – and they don't ever look complimentary to the colors I like to have in my hair – my brows are an icky dull grayish black. ICK! It involves extra $$$$'s to have your brows professionally dyed so I DON'T. In the past I would buy an entire package of over the counter hair color and MIX the entire contents of the the hair color and then take a teeny tiny amount and put it in a small glass/Pyrex bowl. Then I would take a clean over the counter mascara type brush that they sell at the store and I carefully dip it into the hair color mixture and while looking into my LARGE MAGNIFICATION mirror I slowly and meticulously use the applicator to apply the color to my brows. I leave it on for 10-20 minutes and watch it carefully. I thoroughly wash my brows to make sure I get all the extra color out and my brows look great. Now here's the thing...it is absolutely NOT recommended that you do this because IF you get even a drop of this colorant in your eyes...well you just DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN because it could really damage your eyes!!! That is why I go S L O W and carefully. You never want to glob it on! If you are using a dark color it will stain your skin so I put Vaseline all around my brows. I figured this out because when I first met my Harley man I would dye his goatee red and he had me try it on his brows too and it worked! We don't do that to him anymore thought...wayyyyyyy too much work! So..as much as an advertisement would say DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME...I do and I am happy when I do!
Last thing...I figured out that I can dye my brows without mixing the entire content of the hair coloring kit by just doing the “24 hour in advance” skin test that all color kits recommend in the instruction sheet. So I open the two products that you normally mix together, and I put equal parts of both products in my little Pyrex glass bowl (approximately one teaspoon of each) and I mix it with a plastic spoon and there I have my little brow coloring concoction! Whatever the hair product says is the ratio to use for the skin test, that's the amount I use on my brows! It is NOT easy and it probably would be a good idea to wear swim goggles IF you do this just to make sure it doesn't get into your eyes! There you go...my absolutely appalling, way too long, brow story! AGAIN, I would never recommend this to anyone but I'm usually really happy with my results! I have asked beauticians who do my hair why they don't just dye my brows too and they ALL say that they CAN'T because of the risk to your eyes!
Jeanasina!
I don't use a brow gel since mine aren't out of control. They're normal- just need to pluck them once a week or so.

I use Anastasia's brow gel and pencil duo. It's the first time I've used an Anastasia product and the woman sure knows her brows! I find it so easy to use the pencil to lightly fill in my brows and then set with the clear gel. Once it's set it doesn't budge! My brows can get unruly and I simply pluck and groom them with my trusty ecotools brow grooming kit!
I'm really afraid of waxing, so I thread my eyebrows. Just like you, Im obsessed with keeping my eyebrows perfect. I always take a quick look before I go out. Threading is really inexpensive (all you need is thread!) and I think it gives you more control over what areas you want to remove hair. It really does hurt at first, but you get used to it after a while. Plus, threading can be used for other areas of the face like the upper lip too. This website gives good tips on how to thread: http://www.ehow.com/how_2057568_thread-eyebrows.html
AAwww... The eye brow gel!
I'm not even sure what brow gel is. I pluck and trim them once in a while. my eyebrows are pretty tame. i dont really have a lot of eyebrow hairs so i try to hold back on the shaping.
I use the elf $1 brow gel and that's all. It keeps my eyebrows in place for the day, and I don't do anything else besides pluck some unibrow hairs.
I have very thin eyebrows I used to plucked t hem but now I stopped but it wont grow back =s I want thick eyebrows like kim kardashian and it's taking forever since then I have to dye draw and put brow gel everyday !!!!!I have hope ! =)

Try women's Rogaine applied to the brow where you want hair to grow.
I get my brows waxed once every few months when I really want to feel pretty :] It doesn't make too big of a difference, it just feels a lot moer cleaned up to me. Which I like. I just don't have the pain tolerance nor the patience to keep it up!I have thick eyebrows though so I don't need to fill them in or anything - which is a relief for me - anything to shorten my routine in the mornings!
xoxo
I am a compulsive waxer. I get it done at ULTA about every three weeks or so. They take more hair off every three weeks than many people have. DEAR GOD, if it were not for waxing I very well may be a uni brow girl.I thought about laser hair removal. Do you know you have to have them grow out and then have the laser? No --thanks! Plus, there are many treatments involved. It is not a one shot deal.
I pluck, and I use ELF clear brow gel. Cheap but it does the trick! I have such fine eyebrow hair that I am afraid of overplucking, I just picture myself as an old lady with no brows and I draw them in blue to match my blue tinted hair. yes, I have seen this in real life! So now I go very easy on my plucking and then I fill them in with a brow powder and then go over them with the clear gel and a brow comb.
I wish I could find a perfect eyebrow shape & color. My eyebrows are naturally gray and I sometimes fill them in with Anastasia brow powder. Not the best, but there are some sparse spots and some thick spots... I tried their eyebrow gel too, but I just prefer a spoolie. :)
I just use an inexpensive clear mascara instead of a gel. My brows aren't wild, but they look nicer when they're tamed. ;)
i like plucking just because its easier to do at home and cheaper and u dont have to schedule it.lol
I have been wanting to try anastasia bc i hear her products are great (and they are supposedly a good company to work for). I have a friend that used to work for fresh (she loved them) and now works for anastasia--she says their products are wonderful and they do so many celebrities brows. I have smashbox's brow set and i like it but this seems like it might be way easier. I am also wondering if it can be used as a clear mascara? I will have to ask my friend!thanks gals
I have always plucked my brows, fast forward to present day and WHOA...I have very little eyebrows left! Years of over plucking have just about left me bald in the eye brow department. every morning I pencil them in, one morning I forgot, I got to work and I glanced in the mirror and I almost screamed!! I don't carry eyebrow pencils in my mini make-up case for my purse but I did have a brown-ish lip liner and it had to do...Now I carry an eyebrow pencil along with all my other make-up fixer-uppers. I have been using rogaine for women on my eyebrows for about 6 months and I can say YES I am deffinatly seeing a differance. My eyebrows are slowly filling in.
Rogaine on your eyebrows? I never thought of doing that...although I have bushy eyebrows so I don't need any more in the eyebrow department!I've always meant to get a clear gloss for my brows but always end up putting that product back because I see something else I can't live without (thank God I don't work next door to a mall anymore. That was bad for my pocketbook! Hello lunchtime. Goodbye paycheck!)This review just may make me actually hold on strong to the brow mascara. That and living no where near a Sephora anymore...
When I was a kid I used to make fun of my younger sister because she had ridiculously long and voluminous eyelashes. And she used to make fun of me for having boobs (I had to start wearing bras in the 2nd grade, by 3rd I was a 34B--not easy for a kid!). Well... needless to say that once we grew up we realized that maybe having those features weren't so bad! She eventually caught up with me boob-wise, but I was never able to copy her gorgeous eye fringe. Apparently, the "long and luscious" gene skipped my eyelashes and went to my eyebrows. I have the coarsest, most erratic brows ever. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but when I look into that magnifying mirror I swear I'm growing a forest on my forehead. Not only do I have ashy blonde-brown brows, but I have numerous little white hairs too. I have to pluck almost every day to get the darker hairs, and try to wax bimonthly. I also have to TRIM the length of the hairs because otherwise they stick up all crazy. AND I have to use a gel. I've tried several prestige makeup eyebrow gels, and I can honestly say that they do not work any better than good ol' drugstore brand clear mascaras. They all keep the crazy hairs in place all day, don't flake, set brow color, and eventually get gunky from the brow fillers/foundation and have to be replaced. So my advice is to go as cheap as you can. Hope this helps someone!
I'm a plucker, ever since a bad waxing experience that resulted in the loss of skin.I'm also a fan the Anastasia Brow Gels, I use the blonde color. It keeps my brows from being unruly, and gives them a nice, natural, noticeable color.
I'm completely obsessed with my eyebrows, since they're so horrible. I pluck the second I see a hair out of place and I've tried threading, but it didn't go to well... Right now I'm using the clear mascara from The Body Shop, but I don't like it, so I guess I'll try the brow gel from Anastasia next.
I used to think that my eyebrows were too bushy, but now I've come to realize that really thin eyebrows are not attractive. I only pluck a little for shape. I don't use any brow gel; I just brush them into place.
I love this stuff! I have Clear and Blonde! I'm a plucker but I would really like to learn how to thread
My brows were terribly bushy too, MissRo, and looking back at pictures, I'm a little horrified by the near unibrow! I then went through a rigorous plucking phase, and ended up with little tiny brows, and then brows that weren't the best shape for me... I tried Ardell Brow and Lash Growth Accelerator ($4) but it didn't seem to do that much. I'm tempted to try castor oil which supposedly helps... Let's just say I'm a little obsessive about my brows. Now, I think I've finally gotten them under some amount of control, and I've stopped overplucking (although I easily get carried away...). I keep them nicely trimmed so they don't really need brow gel. However, a little bit of brow powder improves my brows a lot--they go from "nice" to "fabulous" :)
♥ Lipgloss and Spandex: a blog for gals who look good and run fast
I pluck 'em.
Ooh how interesting, a clear eyebrow gel to keep the unruly hairs in place! I can't say I use anything like that, I actually use an angled eyeshadow brush and gently fill in any 'gaps' with a brown shadow. I also pluck to keep them in good shape. I've found it to be incredibly important not to OVERPLUCK! It's so easy to do, but the consequences can be dire. So, I take my time in full sun outside to ensure I'm not pulling out too many hairs. : ]
I get my brows done at the Anatasia Brow studio and use their products for my brows, I love the brow gel. My brows get curly and unruly like my hair an the brow gel holds them in place.I pluck in between going to get them done.
I used to have beautiful eyebrows with minimal work. Now all of a sudden I look like Andy Rooney! What a horror. I think I will give this a try as I would like something to tame them to a more natural shape and length. Luckily they are not gray.
