GIOVANNI'S SMOOTH AS SILK DEEP MOISTURE SHAMPOO
MissRo here talking about my love for the Giovanni line! I was wandering around one of my favorite stores, Whole Foods, many moons ago. I was on the hunt for a new shampoo and thought I would try something on the more natural side. There it was, Giovanni's Smooth As Silk Deep Moisture Shampoo. It alleviates frizz, it smooths out dry/damaged hair, gently cleanses, and has zero sulfates. I have naturally curly hair, so you know I'm obsessed with anti-frizz everything!
So, I bought the shampoo along with the conditioner. I absolutely loved it! It has a really refreshing, light scent, it washes out of your hair, so no residue build-up, and the conditioner leaves your hair really smooth, without weighing down your hair. I threw in a bit of mousse, blow-dryed my hair and ta da! My hair looked amazing.
A couple of weeks later, I went back to Whole Foods to check out more of their line. Now I'm in love with their Cucumber Song lotion, their Hot Chocolate Sugar Scrub, and their L.A. Hold Hair Spritz. And, I'm pleased to announce that Giovanni is now sold at Rite Aid!
Giovanni products incorporate vitamins, herbs, minerals, proteins, nutrients and the purest of essential oils. They have a patented Giovanni PureOrganic Technology™ that is a blend of organic oils from renewable plant sources. The oils are then cold pressed and refrigerated immediately to ensure maximum purity.
If you are looking to try a more natural, organic line of product, I highly recommend Giovanni.

I didn't know they made other stuff besides hair products! I have always heard great things about the shampoo and conditioner, that a lot of people who are just switching to more natural hair care products have really good results with these. I see it on sale every now and then, might have to give it a try!
I am all about anything in the Trader Joe's line. They have great shampoos and conditioners.
ooh I should have read this before I posted. I LOVE the Trader Joe's personal care section of the store! I love their lavendar oil scrub too.
I use the same scrub! Isn't it fantastic! I love it to :)
i've never tried organic shampoos! but during high school, my friend and I thought it would be nice to use all natural products to wash our hair, she recommended honey...so we used honey to wash our hair, it didn't turn out pretty.

Trader Joe's has some really nice natural shampoo and conditioner. At $3/bottle it's an unbelieveable bargain, as well as being really good for my hair. Highly recommend it!!
It alleviates frizz, it smooths out dry/damaged hair, gently cleanses, and has zero sulfates. What could be better, I need a product to do ALL of those things to my hair. Adding it to my shopping list.
I've used this. I wanted a shampoo that would be available to me at all times (unlike Jessicurl) and that didn't have sulfates to strip my hair. I found this at the drug store but unfortunately it didn't do well on my hair. It left it kind of dull and limp. The smell was nice though. I'm pretty sure that Jessicurl is my HG.
This is definately a product I will look into. Organic and all the nice oils and other ingrediants :)
Me i like the brand BIO NUXE i'm not sure but i think i'ts very natural ..i like the smell the natural packaging ...i'm an addict of Nuxe !!!
I'm not sure this is available in Ireland-mail order mabye?.I too have frizz issues from bleaching the hell out of my hair a few years ago as well as constant flat iron abuse-bad!Its great to find a sulfate free shampoo that works-its the bad ingredient in so many shampoos.

I definitely need to try this out! I've been a lurker at the Whole Foods personal care section for a while with out ever making a purchase. A couple years back I bought this book on natural beauty recipes. My fave natural beauty tips is to use sugar to exfoliate your lips (yum), put olive oil on the tips of dry hair and then wash out and use apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair once a month to remove build up.
Ive never Tried a organic shampoo! I might have to try it!! .. Unfotinatil i just bought a huge jug of Redken shampoo && conditioner! ... Definatly will have to check this out.. rite aid.. huh!!
Never heard of this line, but that's probably because I never was at a WholeFoods before (I don't know if we even have them here in Michigan..). Great it's available at RiteAid now, I will definitely check into it:-)).

i have never seen this anywhere but It deffinetly sounds interesting, since I also have curly hair nd am in need of a good anti frizz shampoo nd conditionare.
I always hear great things about Giovanni, I really need to try their stuff. Right now I am using Natures Gate shampoo and conditioner, Natures Gate 3 step acne face wash system, Jason hand wash and toothpaste , Dessert Essence floss, Chagrin Valley body soap and love all of the above. I am sure there is more, I just can't think of it. I am trying to go more natural with everything, in fact I just got an email from Sephora that was all about all natural products. They had a foundation with acai in it that is super hydrating. I may have to try it out since my skin has been super dry this year!
I love the 50/50 Shampoo/Conditioner from Giovanni! The hair products are also sold at Ulta and Target, and I'm sure at other places but that's where I see them all the time.
I'm still looking for a good natural shampoo. I have had trouble finding one that I love. The closest is Ojon but it's expensive and still has some ingredients I don't like. I'll give this one a try next!
Wow, this sounds wonderful! Essential oils would smell heavenly when put into hair-care and zero sulphates is very impressive!I try to do my best when it comes to reducing, reusing and recycling - maybe it's time I looked at greener hair-care as well? I wonder if this is available in Australia? I sound like a parrot. ;]
Definitely something I will look into. My hair needs some TLC :(
I'm a huge fan of any company who tries to incorporate essential oils into their products. These ingredients, instead of synthetic smells are far better for you.I don't use a lot of natural skincare, but I am in LOVE with Lush's Aqua Marina cleanser which is totally natural.I wonder if Giovanni is avaliable in Australia??
I really like the idea of using this shampoo. I haven't exactly hopped on the natural band wagon yet, but these sounds promising. I have wavy hair. I need massive frizz control because I get tons of little frizzies. Plus, the name of the product just draws me in. Silk Deep Moisture? Sounds fab!
This sounds perfect! I've yet to find a shampoo that doesn't just kill my hair straight away, but maybe this will be it!
I love the entire Giovanni line. When I am looking to switch up my shampoo/conditioner from my usual Pureology, I use their 50/50 shampoo and Smooth as Silk conditioner. I am in loooove with their Bamboo Birch body wash. Smells divine! This is a great brand!
I have been hearing a lot about Giovanni shampoos lately so will surely try to get hold of some at some point (haven't seen it here in Finland though). I am using a natural shampoo and also conditioner from Urtekram and love it so much. It's the first natural shampoo I have used so could be good to have something to compare it too.
out of organic shampoo products- I tried Euphora, their products are pretty good, and they also have styling products, like Shine spray and Volume Spray (my favorite- smells like berries); I also tried I love Cucumbers line and it was ok, scent was a bit off and conditioner was to heavy for my oily hair. for someone with dry hair it would work better
I also love Giovanni's Direct Leave in Conditioner! My Husband can't live without their Triple Treat Tea Tree shampoo and we both use Giovanni styling gel. I alo LOVE the cucumber song lotion and when I bought it @ Rite Aid it came with a free cucumber song body wash which I also love.
I've never tried organic shampoos. I have tried once to skip shampooing and just rinse my hair with an Apple Cider Vinegar solution. Can't say it really worked because I didn't do it long enough to see the effects. I couldn't stand not shampooing my hair! There was a time when my scalp was in a funk and it was just gross and my hair was falling out way more than before. Then I realized I wasn't getting enough vitamins in my system so I just resumed taking my vitamins and gradually my hair became better! Regular shampoo & conditioner worked just fine again for me.
Great review. I love organic shampoos so much that they have almost wiped out the salon brands in my shower. I love Jessicurl, Wen and Dessert Essence. One of the only "salon" brands to survive in my shower is, of course, Pureology. I tend to try any new hair care line that raises any sort of fuss among us beauty connoisseurs, and very few measure up to the results of organic products. I guess Mother Nature really does it best. Thanks for a great review. Next time I'm at Rite Aid, you know which aisle I'll be in!

I love their Tea Tree Triple Treat shampoo and conditioner. You can sometimes find them in the huge bottles at Marshalls and TJ Maxx, and they're really good products. The conditioner moisturizes a lot better than you would guess -- and my hair NEEDS a lot of moisture, so I'm picky.
I've been debating trying these, but they're a little over my price point. I'll have to keep a sharper eye out for sales in the future, though, or coupons so I can snag something at a discount.Even their travel/sample sizes are expensive for me. Maybe once I get my refund from school I'll have to venture out of my budget bubble and pick up a couple of things.
Before reading your post, I was going to say that I haven't been happy with Giovanni. I have the 50/50 shampoo/conditioner. It's supposed to be the perfect balance between a cleanser and moisturizer, but it leaves me greasy. However, your post reminded me that I had the Hot Chocolate scrub, and I did like that. My hubby loves all things that are chocolate scented, so he bought the scrub for me to use. So, thanks to this post, I will have to give Giovanni products another chance. Thanks!
I love lush body products because of thier all natural ingredients but I mostly like to make my own peels, masks, and scrubs. The hair products I am using right now aren't natural it is called curls!
;) Gloss & Gum <3
I saw this line in my local walmart. I am seriously interested in trying them out. Thanks for the review...now I can buy without guilt.

The accessibility of this line only adds to its natural allure.
i liked this line too, though i did think it was a little annoying the bottles dont contain much, wish they were larger fro the same amount of money, asking too much?
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
i never used anything from the brand before. thanks for posting about it. it sounds very nice. i really want to check out their products now. i love the idea of organic ingredients and renewable plant resources. since its from nature it should be good for your skin. i hope. >.< but your article really makes me want to go to rite aid right now and take a look. thanks
I would like to give this a try. I haven't seen this at Trader Joe's. I will check for it at Whole Foods next time I am there. Thanks for the review. Looks great. :-)
I wanna try this so much!
i've seen these in salons, and it looks amazing! i have to ask for this for my birthday...
