YOU KNOW WHO YOU LOOK LIKE?

Meg here! How many times have you heard "you know who you look like?" I have heard it a bunch in my life and usually I don't want to know the answer. When I was younger and my hair was short and dark I used to always get Winona Ryder. I never minded that one. I wasn't that crazy to hear the comparisons to Shelly Duvall or the time I was told I looked "just like" Frances McDormand.
I usually refrain from telling someone that they look like someone because no matter who it is Usually the person you think you're paying a compliment to can find fault. it's just best not to go there. On Megsmakeup we ask what celebrity do you get told you look like. I think it's O.K. to ask if you're the one that gets to answer.
I was headed to Solero's house Friday to hang out with her and her roommate Katerina. Now, Katerina Moutsatsos is obviously a very beautiful girl. She's on the cover of Greek Cosmo this month so I don't think she's going to be insecure about her looks. So the conversation went like this...
Meg: Katerina, you know who I think you look like (as I was looking at the Claudia Schiffer picture above)?
Normally when you tell someone they look like a supermodel you feel like you're on safe ground. No such luck. Then I have...
Solero: pipes up: Ugh, she's awful looking, I don't think so.
So see? You really can't win when you play "you know who you look like" game. I'm sitting with my friend Brian as I type this and he just told me it happens to guys too. Brian was sitting in Elaine's restaurant in New York 1996 when he met Elizabeth Taylor. She looked at him and said "You look just like a young Orson Welles." He looked at her horrified picturing the fat Orson Welles. I googled "young Orson Wells" and just showed Brian. It's actually not that bad.
I'm guilty of it and I'm really going to stop telling people who they look like because even if it's one of the most beautiful women on earth you're still going to get some static.
Spill it! What was your most flattering and what was your worst resemblance?

Hahaha, that's hilarious! I can see how there is a likeness in the angle etc but really, you look nothing like Spock. :P
LOL...that's too funny.I disagree though. You are too pretty and don't look like spock at all.

Meg, what a fabulous life you lead! Hanging out with models and such.My most flattering: being told that I look like Kristin Kreuk (from Smallville), also, Vanessa Hudgens and Jessica Alba (pretty but ugh I cannot stand either of them).Least flattering: When I was fairly young, I had a bowl cut. With bangs. (It was the early 90's okay?!) I was at the doctor's office, playing with the toys with my brother and some older gentleman goes, "aww what a cute young boy you are!" I insisted that I was a little girl, and he was like "aw you're a little boy!" Ok, so it's not a celebrity resemblance, but when you're told you look like a boy... it's pretty scarring.[[EDIT: Actually that happened at college one time too. A guy friend of mine told me "Hey I know this guy who looks just like you!" I was a little upset about that...]]I'm pretty lucky in terms of people associating celebrities with me, or anyone for that matter. I have yet to find a real doppelganger of me :P Most of the time, people are thrown off by my appearance and want to know my ethnicity.

In high school I used to get told I look like Alanis Morrissette. I can see it in profile, but we don't really look alike. More recently someone told me I looked like a brunette Scarlett Johannsen. I REALLY don't see that one but she's pretty cute, so I thought it was okay.
My most flattering you look like recently was Julianne Moore, the one I didn't like too much was 1993 "you look just like Fergie" Princess of York, not hot singer of Big Girls don't cry, that Fergie I wouldn't mind. Now that I am heavy I don't hear it too much. When I was younger (and much thinner) there were 2 "you look just like" I got a lot 1st I heard "you look like Julie from The Love Boat" and 2nd "you look just like Twiggy" and once I was asked "are you related to Goldie Hahn." I don't mind too much but I don't think I will tell people who I think they look like but I will ask them who do U think you look like. By the way, Meg, I can see the resemblance between the pics of Claudia and Katerina. They have similar nose shapes, face shapes and hair.
When I was a kid I was told that I looked like Shirley Temple =)Also as a kid, up to my early 20's I got Drew Berrymore a lot. I also get Natalie Portman once in a while, more so when I straighten my hair. Honestly, I don't mind either!
It reminds me of a topic about LOOKALIKE here on Megsmakeup.com in the forum part !!!! it was funny we were trying to find lookalikes to each others !!!!!I have the similare story that the Claudia schiffer 's one lolone day someone told me I looked like LIZ HURLEY !I was flattered so I told him THANK you !!! ^^but he add a "EWWW she is UGLY"lol well thank you !

Wow, someone should have tought that guy some manners. That was seriously rude!Besides, I think she's pretty...so he had no taste either.

I few years ago I was told I looked like Avril Lavigne, but more recently, about 2 weeks ago, Kelly Clarkson, both of which I wasn't offended by... So that's a plus
I don't think i've ever had people come up to me saying i look like certain someone. They have mentioned that my HAIR looks like some asian actress' hair.. well i guess straight black hair is quite common.. :\My dad however, used to get quite a bit of attention from my friends... which is REALLY disturbing.During my Ronan Keating obsessive phase a girl friend of mine who'd constantly pay visits and come over my house for the odd movie night or just to hang around. she was my best friend and we were sitting on the couch talking about dating men from different ethnicities, and she said, "I wouldn't mind dating hot asian guys if they looked like your dad, he's like an asian version of ronan keating" ...... *throws up* I've never looked at ronan keating the same way again, my dad is mixed race that goes back a few generations. But i really don't see the resemblence.

to look like Claudia Schiffer and not be happy, and not be totally thrilled about it, I can only dream....
When I was much younger, thinner, and with short hair I was often told that I looked like a young Shirley Maclaine. I took that as a compliment because I thought she was adorable. On the dark side I was told I looked like Lily Tomlin without the spark, whatever that means. Now I just look like me.
The BEST comparison I get these days is that I look like my 21 year old daughter who is gorgeous, tall and thin. Thank goodness I don't act like her!
I can't remember the last time anyone said I looked like someone famous. But the worst resemblance ever made between me and another person? It was when I was still attending upper secondary school, and a girl in my class had coloured her hair a rather dull brown/blonde. As it happened, in the class room lightning, it looked almost identical to my own hair colour and we were sitting next to each other, long hair hanging down over our assignments. So, the boy I was flirting with at the time, noticed and said: "wow, you two look like twins!"Now, it was not that she was ugly or anything. Even rather pretty. But I've always taken pride in being unique, in being me. The very idea that someone else looked like me! ;)
Oh come on a supermodel is a good compliment.A lot of people have said andrea corr to me-I cant see it though-her hairs a different colour too.Once a random guy walked up to me in the street and told me I looked like jennifer Lopez and no it wasnt a bum comment-I was facing him-think it was just my nude makeup look that day was similar to how she does her's.

I have only very recently been told I look like a celeb "Amy Irving" we have the same hair. I like Amy Irving. I adore blue eyes, I used to have blue contacts. Wearing them made for an intereesting "look" . Blue eyes and dark brunette hair. I don't think I'll ever be told that I look like any of the super models, I am too short and a tad too heavy
I cannot even count the number of times I have been compared to Marilyn Monroe - I don't know if I just run into strange people, who maybe need to go to rehab...yes, yes, yes, but the comparison is ludicrous. Aside from the blond hair, there is nothing - I don't have big bewbies, I don't have a little girl voice, I'm not at all coquettish, I'm sporty rather than curvy (in shape - I avoid exercise like the plague). Happened again when I was out last week - WTF???????Btw I know this might explain things - I have the whole dumb blond thing going on - when I uploaded pics to my profile, I somehow deleted my profile pic, and don't know how to get it back - Help anyone.....

luckily, i dont look like anyone famous but i used to be compared to other girls in my class in middle school. i didnt think i looked anything like them but they rudely disagreed as if i were the worst person to look like. did nothing for my self-esterrm but it wasnt like i wanted to resemble them either...

I've only ever once heard I looked like a celebrity and to me it was flattering. After The Wedding Crashers came out my friend Lawrence called me to tell me I reminded him exactly of Rachel McAdams. I'll take it!
I have been told that I am a combination between Ellen Page and Rosie O'donnell. When I was younger and much thinner I looked a lot more like Ellen. But you can still see her in my face some. Now many people might be insulted by the Rosie comment. And I suggest that people suggest that I look like her simply because I am big, sometimes loud, and have dark brown hair. But I think she is great! So I take it as a compliment. When I was really a little kid people always said that I looked like Shirley Temple. I really did. I had the little curls and all! And years ago when I worked in a bank I had an older customer who always came in and told me that I looked like the old hollywood actress Jane Wyman. You know the one married to Ronald Regan. Now of course I didn't see it. But who knows?I really didn't find any of it insulting. Regardless of anyone's intentions. I think that these are all fabulous people to be compared to!
Haha that is funny...people always tell me I look like someone they know. Its weird because when I actually see that person... I believe that I don't look anything like them. I don't really think I look like anyone.
Gosh, we've all got our hangups, don't we?I used to get Jewel when my hair was blonder, and while she is pretty, I was always kinda like, "Thanks?" because whenever I see a picture of her I just think "TEETH".
The only person I've ever been told I look like is Stacy London from the TV show What Not to Wear. I guess I would agree, but I didn't know it until someone else pointed it out lol.
I think your right she does look like Claudia Schiffer with darker hair !!! I was told I looked like a whole load of celebrities on the thread "what celebrity do you look like" I was very happy with who the lovely ladies said I looked like :-)
OK, I'm only telling y'all this because I love and trust ya. This is totally embarrassing. I've lost a lot of weight since then (Thank GOD) - but last year, some young huzzy at Walgreens said "you know, you look just like Shelly Winters!" OMG, I must have looked aghast, because I sure felt that way. I said weakly "I've never heard that before." But she pursued it anyway -- "Really? No one ever told you that before? You look JUST like her!"Well, it was a verrrrry long time before I went back into THAT Walgreens again. I mean, really. What was she thinking?
Carole
Cac-Perhaps they were talking about pre-Poseidon Adventure Shelley Winters. She was foxy and funny!
I don't think anyone has told me I looked like any celebrity. Sometimes I get the "You look like someone I know" but that's about it.
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is so subjective. When I was in college I was once told that I looked like Natalie Wood. She is very pretty so I thought it was ok.
Kellie - You're so kind to say that. But this chick was about 19 years old, and I think the only Shelly Winters she ever saw was one that I definitely did NOT want to look like! Anyway, I think that slimming down has helped that situation. I hope I don't look like anyone anymore - but I would take the Claudia Schiffer comparison any time!
Carole
I guess I must have a very unique appearance, because no one really ever tells me I look like anyone! I think the one time I can recall was just this girl who's on some teen shows, I don't even remember her name.
thank goodness I don't resemble any celebrities at all! That said, I do get a lot of "You look exactly like my friend/colleague/church mate/classmate from ..." but when they showed me the photo, I can't see the resemblance at all. It didn't go well when the mutual friends introduce the 'supposedly twins' to me and you could see the disbelief + disdain in their eyes as though I was the one who suggested that we looked alike. I'm guessing most people just do not want to be told that they resemble some common folks -- like someone said earlier, being unique is a plus point. I couldn't care less cos I know there is at least one person who looked exactly the same -- my MOTHER! ... albeit in her teens. As we age, the similarity disappears.
Ive never really been told I look like anyone...i dont know if that is a goos thing or bad thing lol :))
Katerina is FABULOUS and I wish her every wonderful thing! :) I have had a few comments over the years but they're usually in regards to someone recently in a men's magazine or such,LOL! Flavor of the month and all that jazz but I always appreciated the comments.Seriously don't think I've ever been compared except for Suzanne Sommers when I was a blonde (yes,it's true,HA!)... They say everyone has a twin but I'm with Meg: I have been guilty of mentioning to people they resembled "someone notable" and it's not always graciously accepted: was at a wedding last year and one of THE most beautiful young women I have ever seen was in the bridal party, she dead-ringer for Penelope Cruz...I mean all the way and I commented on how gorgeous she was in her dress and how much she looked like her.She was VERY insulted that I would compare her to a "woman of a different race" when she wasn't....mmmkkkayyy. Lesson learned,LOL! ;) She made nasty faces at me all night long and I truly felt bad I had offended her so much but damn...Penelope Cruz girl??? :)
Jeanasina always tells me I look like a young Sofia Lauren...I dont mind that a bit, but prior to having my son (my thinner days) I was told often that I looked like jennifer lopez which made my day!!! Maybe it ws just the large round booty? It doesnt matter. :) But growing up I was always told I look exactly like each of my three older sisters and I hated it, but now realize they are all so beautiful! :)
Someone once told me I looked like Tori Spelling and I went home and cried. Even worse, I get this a lot: Your sister is so pretty! You don't look anything like her!
Awww I bet you are gorgeous KingTaco :-) x x
I don't think I've ever been told I look like someone. Interesting....
you kinda look like me! when i had brown hair, which was only for about 6 months. and i'm 10 yrs older. so, maybe not so much......but I used to look like you!
I've never been told I looked like a celebrity, but many people have said that I look like/remind them of someone they know. When I see the picture of the other person, more often than not, we look nothing alike!
rarely do i get "you look like.." comments, but ive gotten mulan once.... i dont think i look like mulan lol...
I usually get people comparing me to friends or people they know, but when that movie Live Free, Die Hard came out, I had SO many people telling me that I looked like Maggie Q - the villan's little girlfriend helper. Everyone said she looks like an older me.
I really haven't been compared to any celebrities :( It's sad! Perhaps it's because I'm asian :\ If anyone wants to be a total sweetie, they can look at my profile and let me know if I remind them of any celebrities? haha long shot I know. But I'd be flattered by any reference!
xoxo
i guess my features are pretty unique. i never was compared to anyone.but i know what you mean about people may not like your compliment- i have a friend who looks like Audrey Tatou (gorgeus girl) when i told her that, she looked horrified. "That ugly girl Amelie that always makes faces?" that is what she said.
Not many famous Chinese woman..... I talked to Kellie76 about this once! I think she said Sandra Oh, but I think thats the standard for all Asians! Maybe Mulan? Thanks Disney.
I actually said Lucy Liu. But I love Sandra oh too! And there are probably lots of famous Chinese women in China.
when i was younger i was always told i looked like sarah from coronation street (uk ladies will know what i mean-gails daughter) my friends all used to hold magazines with pictures of her in and all discuss how much i looked like her-i couldnt see it myself but wasnt offended!stranger used to come up in the street to see if i was her too! i thought it was hilarious! and very bizarre as i couldnt see a resemblence!the worst lookalike comparison i have had was when a girl told me i look like my fiances ex!-she had told me how fat ang ugly his ex was before going on to say-you look like her actually!!! ha! (bitch!-she fancied him so i guess thats why she said it?!) but even worse-she was always being told she looks like perry from "kevin and perry" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha
I get SARAH PALIN all the time! i don't know if i should take it as a compliment or not haha. I think it's because of my glasses and that sometimes i put my hair up the same way she does. I decided to take it to the streets -- i dressed up as sarah palin for halloween, and everybody could guess who i was easily! it was pretty funny.
Lol, what a way to start your Monday morning;-). Somebody once came up to me and compared my look (not my face!) with Kat von D. I wasn't really flattered by that, because I try to be myself and not a follower. So...other than that....when I was 16, I got "Elvira" (the mistress of darkness) alot, because of my hair color, lmao!!!
Make up your beauty-full mind...www.myspace.com/blackdivaworld
haha yes I know what you mean! they have those all over facebook for different groups, when I post I'm so scared of what people will say lol! But honestly I shouldn't mind(as long as the person isn't ugly!) I'm just kidding! but seriously, I don't think it's a big deal to be told you look like a celebrity, if there a celebrity most likely, they are pretty good looking!!
