URBAN DECAY LIP PRIMER!

lip
Have you ever heard a song in the am and couldn't get it out of your mind or off your lips for an entire day? "Poker Face" comes to mind for me and of course, the visual of Meg dancing at sister's BBQ shared in a previous post to this tune always makes me smile as well! :)

Goddess Granny here and I think that some things are just SO good that it's really okay to rave about them over and over: I know that as consumers,we are faced with a mind-boggling array of choices when it comes to our glam-jam and I for one do my best to support as many companies as humanly possible! Is it a "sickness" to be constantly searching for "something better" or rather simply the pursuit of those items of quality which not only enhance our looks and well-being but also make our lives easier and thusly BETTER because they are simply so damn good?

I'm gonna' say it again and again: for me and my money, there are few companies out there that rival the genius, creativity, originality, and affordability of "Urban Decay!" If I remember correctly, when I first discovered this line @ 10 years ago,I turned to it for glitter eye-liners and that much-coveted shade of sparkly-champagne shadow NO makeup bag should be without, "Midnight Cowboy!" I've yet to find this shade's rival.

Fast-forward to 2009 and a helluva' lot of cash spent, many hours spent shopping and sampling and NOW, I find I'm scanning their website frequently as my first-choice in just about EVERY category because of what they continue to dream-up and offer! With SO much out there to chose from, you almost cannot FAIL with their cutting-edge colors, pace-setting products, and such interesting packaging and affordable pricing compared to many: add in a "Love it or leave it guarantee" for online-shopping (you can return an item within 45 days for a full refund!) and easy returns and you have what might just be a one stop shop for all that promises to be FABULOUS in the world of beauty products with no mistakes probable or possible! Plus, they offer sales like the recent $30% off which allows us to truly indulge and or justify just a bit more...

New for Fall '09 (along with some AMAZING new makeup colors!) is the "Lip Primer Potion"...I would venture to guess that many have tried and loved the coveted "Eyeshadow Primer Potion" and now there are also two NEW "Face Primer Potions" as well (one that brightens, one that perfects pores) but I'm going to try and focus on the Lip Primer here and now although I am a HUGE fan of the entire clan of Potions Kiss!

Gorgeous case: can this company possibly improve their packaging any more? Sassy signature- lilac case with silver-metallic etching design, this product is TOTALLY unique! NOT a gloss or "plumper",it serves as a foundation to insure that the lippy you apply looks great for hours! It goes on rather "velvety" as opposed to slick and allows your color to go on smoother and more color-true without any fading or feathering. Contains an SPF of 15 (recent studies show that ALL lippys should have a sunscreen!) along with moisture-giving vitamins A, C, and D.

I tried this with my new UD "Naked" lipstick for a fabulous nude-lip result as well as with my new "Lip Envy" shade of "Greedy" which is THE most amazing ripe berry-stain for Fall and both applications were perfection! I even tried it alone with my new 24/7 lipliner in "Paranoid" and LOVED the "no lipstick, is that you Pamela Anderson?" look of a Playboy-chicklet! :) It gives a lighter than natural smooth matte-finish and I swear to you that I didn't have a hint of creeping or cracking in any application I tried until I took my makeup off! If you don't use a lip-liner,you'll find that this gives a more "finished" quality to the color you apply as well.

Seriously, I don't think ANYONE'S makeup-bag should be without this new UD potion and I predict that "cult status" will be surpassed by "total sellout/on a wait-list to own" VERY soon! It's hard to sound like a broken record when you rant and review about a company who simply gets it right :)

This is the "foundation garment for lips" of your dreams my pretties and I think it's one of THE best products they've ever come up with! NO work of art can be guaranteed to stand the test of time without a proper priming of the "canvas" so be sure that when you create the masterpiece that is YOU, be sure to reach for this amazing product first!

Who else loves Urban Decay and their Lip Primer as much as I do?

I really do love Urban Decay! I have become a convert. Their packaging is always slick, beautiful, and interesting. This product is no exception. It has the trademark gorgeous purple packaging. But as many of know the most remarkable thing about Urban Decay is the quality of its products. And this lip primer is top quality! I have really only recently been warming to the idea of a lip primer. I mean it makes sense, right? If we put a primer on our eyes and face why not the lips? Our make-up wears off a lot faster on our mouth. So I have been using Caudalie lip conditioner as primer with nice results. There just weren't a lot of products out their that fit the bill. Of course Urban Decay would be the company to pave the way for a new kind of primer. I was thrilled to receive this for review. It is thick. So the consistency takes awhile to get used to. But I did. This primer really gave my lip products a lot more staying power. I find myself on most days not having to reapply barely if at all. So in my book that is a huge success. And this did not cause any drying at all. my lips felt smooth and moist. If you question spending the money on a lip primer realize that in the long term you are saving money by not having to reapply your gloss or lipstick as often! This is an A+, home run. I highly recommend another awesome and beautiful product from the geniuses at Urban Decay!

hmm I don't know.  I've tried lip primers before and they made me feel so dry and cracked.  I might pick this up at Sephora though and give it a go - they have a great return policy so I won't be losing anything if I don't like it.Because I would LOVE to rock some nude lips, but I can't seem to get the lipstick to stay without fading or migrating. Thanks for the review Goddess Granny!

I hadnt heard much about Urban Decay before I came here. Now I am absolutely IN LOVE with the brand. They're style, the colors and the QUALITY!!!Not surprised to find another great product theyve come out with! I always wonder if I should prime my lips but I wear mosty nude colors on my lips so I thought it would be worthless. But now I reconsider!

Why oh why do I insist on torturing myself by reading these reviews for Urban Decay?!  And *then* I go ahead and read the comments to rub salt in the wound, and find this killer deal on offer just to squeeze a teensy tiny drop of lemon juice into the paper cut.I hate living in Australia sometimes!  Not often at all in fact only when Urban Decay and Sephora are mentioned.  Why oh why can't they implement international shipping?  Or better yet, start selling their products here?!!!/Sighs deeply and puts hands over eyes.  I refuse to read any more of these reviews they hurt too much!  : '[

They sure brought this out at the right time with all the red and berry lip looks around for fall-it would work as a great base for their vinyl lipstick.By the way the more you mention the ud naked lipstick the more I hear it calling to me.I love to wear lipliner on its own but usually have to add gloss because its so drying but since you say it worked so well with your paranoid lipliner this could be the answer to my prayers-paranoid another one for the list.I know now I'm being an enabler but...there's an offer on at sephora right now the complete set of ud potions worth$114 now sells at sephora for$65 and ships free.p.s the song I can't get out of my head now is pixi lotts-mama do.

I got this from my pack from MEG!! Love love love this product, as I do with many of Urban Decay's product line. It goes on super smooth and lasts for hours, without drying out my lips. It's definately becoming a necessary item in my makeup stash! If you haven't got one, go get one from Sephora. This product rocks! Thanks again Meg for being too generous!

I also received the UD lip primer from Meg.  I firmly believe in using primers!  And I usually love everything from Urban Decay... except that I'm not in love with this.  I know, I know - what is wrong with me?  It does work well, I must admit.  But I haven't totally embraced the thickness yet.  I'm sure I'll get used to it, because it is worth it to have lipcolor stay put.  But my fave is still Laura Mercier's Lipsilk.  I use it as a primer and conditioner.  Ahhhhh, it feels so good on my lips.  But speaking of primers, the face and eyelash primers are wonderful - as is our iconic eyeshadow primer potion!

Urban Decay is going to have to make a plan to place their products in South Africa, or at the very least ship here. Do they really how much those of us in far flung places covet and drool over their products. If it's anything life the eye shadow primer potion which I have courtesy of a lovely friend, it is fan-tab-bu-lous. I want it, I want all their potions, and I'm holding my breath until they materialize :)

Thank you for the glowing review. Another thing for my ever growing wish list. I just can't wear lipstick because I am a chronic lip licker, and nothing so far holds up to that for long. Any day now, I'll have managed to compose such a huge list of items that you can only get hold of in the U.S. to reasonable prices that a trip over the pond will actually just be icing on the cake! Insane. Why couldn't those companies just offer reasonable, international shipping instead?

Oh wow, another UD primer! I'm totally lusting after the lash primer and just add this one to the list. I'm curious to see what the results would be like using a gloss over it vs. a lipstick, as I tend to wear glosses more. I haven't really bought UD stuff but I've gotta say I'm impressed with their satisfaction guarantee, that is pretty nice.
