JONATHAN BEAUTY WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM! WIN ONE!

Jon

Hi, Kellie76 here! I am very pleased to bring you my first “Does it Work?” review.  In general, I am a very positive and trusting person who really wants to believe the fantastic claims made by the plethora of exciting beauty products on the market.  I want my outside to match my inner beauty.  So just like all of you, I enjoy indulging in the world of beauty consumerism.  But alas, I am a poor graduate student who must be incredibly discerning about her purchases.  That means I am forced to be a beauty skeptic.  My goal for this column is to save you (my fellow citizens of Megville) money and time by telling you—if it really works!

My husband and I have decided to welcome a new man into our lives.  His name is Jonathan.  No, we haven't suddenly embraced polygamy.  We have simply decided to try the Jonathan Beauty Water Shower Purification System.  I'm not ashamed to tell you that we are in love!

If you aren't familiar with the inventor of Beauty Water, let me fill you in.  Jonathan Antin is a long-time celebrity hairstylist in California.  A fun fact is that his sister is the Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin.  (Yes, he has frequently styled their hair.)  Jonathan had a reality television show called Blow Out.  This is where I first learned about the infamous man who everyone either loves to hate or hates to love.  However you feel about him, you cannot deny the genius of his many hair products, which contain many healthy and natural ingredients.  I am a huge fan of his product Dirt.

I believe that it was TanteJoan who pointed out to me the extreme irony of the man who brought us Dirt now trying to make us clean with Beauty Water.  I first saw the concept for the Shower Purification System on Blow Out.  Jonathan didn't have any water in his home one morning.  So before work, he decided to wash his hair with bottled water.  He ended up amazed by how great his hair looked and felt.  In his own words, his hair was “Bangin'”!  Of course I thought that the whole thing sounded good.  But I was skeptical and never planned to try it.

That all changed when Jennifer from Jonathan challenged me to try the product.  It is extremely easy to install.  You don't need any tools.  You just twist off your old shower head and then attach the filter system.  You then have to activate and flush the filter, which only takes a few minutes of running the shower.  Then you attach the new shower head, and you're done.  I did worry that I wouldn't be able to use my shower caddy with the filter system, but it worked fine.  So no space was lost.  I also assumed that the shower head would be worthless.  This is so not true.  This might be the most invigorating and exhilarating shower I have ever taken.  And my husband agrees.  This surpasses even the fanciest and most powerful hotel shower heads we have experienced.  What makes this all the more shocking is that the system is actually an excellent water conservation measure, as it operates on a regulated flow of 2.5 gallons per minute.

Jonathan says, “My theory on water and its effect on the condition, color and manageability of hair is that proper cleansing and hydration begin with pure, natural spring water.  I wanted to find a way to give everyone the same hair and skin benefits of showering in the best water possible.”  According to the company, the system filters out a majority of the chlorine, heavy metals, and harsh chemicals found in tap water.  This in turn enhances the pH balance of the water, softens hair and skin, and helps to preserve hair color.

These claims sounded lofty and unlikely to me.  I was happily proven wrong, however.  From the first day of using this product, my husband and I have seen results.  I have very curly hair that is always extremely tangled.  But ever since I began showering with the Jonathan system, I barely have to run a comb through it as it is virtually tangle-free.  My hair is extremely soft now, and my curls are more defined and shiny.  My husband and I have also experienced much softer, brighter, and somewhat clearer skin.  This system can be purchased at Sephora for $95.00.  The replacement filters can also be purchased there for $55.00.  They suggest that you replace the filter every 3-6 months, depending on how many people are showering with it.

I highly recommend purchasing the Jonathan Beauty Water Shower Purification System if you want to have “Bangin'” hair.  This is a truly fantastic product that is well worth the money.  Especially if it helps to extend the life of your hair color, in addition to its many other benefits.  Yes, it really works!

The lovely Jennifer from Jonathan wanted to spread the love for this amazing product.  So thanks to her generosity, we have one Jonathan Beauty Water Shower Purification System to give away to one lucky member of the MM Community.

Write about your funniest, craziest, most horrifying, or most “out there” shower tale.  Or, if your life is boring or your story is too risque, give us your best shower beauty routine.  The post that makes us laugh or cringe the most (or teaches us something new) will be the winner.

I bought the Aquasana Pure shower system about three months ago, because my water is very hard and it was really effecting the texture of my hair.  I did a consumer reports search on water filters and the Aquasana, although a little more expensive than the Jonathan version, got better over-all reviews.  I am TOTALLY happy with the results from my Aquasana filter.  It is an investment, especially considering you have to pay to replacement filters every 6 months.  However, I consider it to be one of the best beauty investments I've made in the recent past.  If you have hard water get one!  Check out the other brands though.  Just because the Jonathan one is the only one marketed to us beauty junkies, doesn't mean another won't give you the same or better results.

OOOOH! Want. That episode where he washed his hair with bottled water was hilarious--"I can't remember the last time my hair was this BANGIN'!!!"I have horrible, metallic, nasty water and I would luuuuurve a shower filter.Ok, here's my shower story...One day in college I was in the shower, and I was in the one shower stall that had an actual bathtub because I had to go to a dance that night and hadn't shaved my legs in about 9 years and that gave me room to do it. I heard some girls out in the main part of the bathroom telling a pretty juicy bit of gossip and in my disbelief about the story, I screamed "WHAT?!?!" and pulled back the shower curtain...and promptly fell ass over teacups, ending up hanging half in and half out of the tub. Whoops. Everything in my shower caddy went flying. I'd like to say the other girls in the room were surprised about this happening to me but I am the biggest klutz in history so this was pretty typical "ME"!

I totally agree Indi. Whatever works. The Jonathan system has really worked well for me. And I don't even have hard water. It still has made a dramatic improvement in my hair and skin. Shower water filter systems are an outstanding and worthwhile investment in my opinion. And I never dreamed that I would say that.

The Aquasana I have is IDENTICAL to the Jonathan brand... and it's CHEAPER  (it's the AQ 4100) $60 vs. $99.  the replacements are cheaper also. and i absolutely LOVE the filter...when we first moved to Westchester from Queens (siiiiighhh) the first time i showered was an absolute DISASTER... it was like nothing rinsed out... i wore my hair up for a week and was absolutely certain i was going to want to move back to queens (there were wild turkey sightings as well but that's a whole notha story folks). needless to say... my hair looks SLAMMIN... (i'd rather slam than bang)... and i'll never be w/out that filter.

Here's my shower story - When I worked in Japan I lived in company housing in a 3-bedroom apartment, so people came and went on a regular basis.  I had one roommate for a month who shaved her hoo-ha while living there.  How do I know?  She didn't clean out the shower after doing it.  I was so, so grossed out, but I cleaned the tub with gloves, bleach, and elbow grease.  Everyday while she lived there.

This looks amazing i so want to win one!!!!!Hand on my heart, this story is completely true from start to finish-no exaggeration added (or needed) for the purpose of making it more exciting-this actually happened!.....After giving birth to my daughter and spending all night afterwards in bed (due to having an epidural and not being able to move) and going 2 days without a bath (gross huh?!) I asked an old frail nurse if,1) I could have my catheter removed (sorry more grossness!) and 2)if i could have a shower. she got one of the young nurses to remove my catheter and then proceded to give me a bath!!! all the while i was saying "its fine i can do it" she lifted my arms and washed my armpits with a cloththat you would use to do the washing up! she done everything (I couldnt stop her-she wouldnt listen to my constant "i can do it" and just kept saying "no you just had a baby") then she got me dried and dressed into big bridget jones knickers and pjs, she even sprayed my deoderant under my arms! The sanitary towel that she had put in the knickers before putting them on me had folded at the back and was stuck to my bum-upon telling her this she spun me round, pulled down my pants and reattatched the sanitary towel correctly to my knickers! I couldnt believe it- me, my fiance and my mum still laugh about this!

what great and funny stories... I am one of those people that loves a bath much better than the shower, so purification system would be lost on someone like me. i wish they would make similar products for bath lovers. I enjoy my nightly ritual of drawing a bath, sometimes adding lavender salt to it, and getting all my scrubs, creams and washes out. i am  like a little kid in a tub, only my toys are all beauty products :)

This sounds like a must have for me. First of all my hair is very curly, and in need of lots of hydration. Second of all we have some nasty tap water where I live. As I have mentioned in another post my tap water is so nasty that you could put the appropriate ingredients (yeast, malt, hops) in it and it would probably ferment into beer in about 1 day tops. The water here is very hard and nasty:(

So anyways I don't know if my shower story is funny, entertaining, or weird, but here goes:

A couple of years ago I was in my dorm at college. It was a typical Friday, I had worked hard all week in class and at work, and I was ready to let my hair down and party!!!!! All three of my suite mates had went somewhere. So I was there all alone. Me and one of my suite mates were supposed to go to a party later. So silly me had to pre party. It was probably about 6pm, but after a long week I like to take my time getting ready. I decided to have a special shower. Keep in mind I had already had a couple of drinks when I thought of this idea. I decided to have a club/party shower experience. I put my laptop on the bathroom counter and I put it on techno. Then I took my strobe light and put it on the counter. I put it on the fastest setting. Then I turned out all of the lights in the entire suite. It was freaking so cool taking a shower like that. I was also having a few drinks while in the shower as well. I felt so cool and it was a truly one of a kind shower experience. I did get freaked out and some points though, because I have some crazy almost scary techno remixes that make you feel like you are in a horror movie. That along with the strobe light spooked me a little too. But over all I had a lot of fun and it was super fun. I was half inebriated by the time I got out of the shower, and all my suite mates thought I was crazy for taking a shower like that. I highly recommend trying this if you have a strobe light, but you can't forget the music and drink!

Shower filters can apparently really help people with acne and bad skin to.  I know that when I wash my hair at the lake it looks amazing.  Of course this was before we really knew not to use soaps in the lake.  I haven't done it in years but I've often wondered if these filters would have the same effect.

Listen up sisters - I definitely would like to own this purifying system for our shower!   My tale which could possibly be classified as “most horrifying“, is gag worthy and unforgettable and involves my bathtub!   Probably about 10 years or so ago, I lived in the BASEMENT (the nice way of saying it is, THE GARDEN LEVEL) of an apartment complex.  My shower was in my bathtub which is the case for most apartments out there so of course I used my bathtub all the time! One HOLIDAY WEEKEND, I happened to go into my bathroom on a Friday evening and saw that something was coming into my bathtub from the drain.  It only took me a few moments to identify that it was SHIT!  Totally gagging as I write this and remembering!  As I watched in complete horror, my bathtub was slowly filling up with all the shit and urine from all the apartments above me!  Then it started in the sink.  It was a holiday weekend so the landlord was out of town!!  My eyes were as big as fried eggs as I watched the putrid filth eruption  levels rising up higher and higher!  I knew that SOON there would be spillover from the top of the bathtub!  My hair was standing on end and I couldn’t reach anybody!  Every time I went back in the bathroom to look I’d do the equivalent of trying to remove a hairball from my throat!  I went and got neighbors in the building and they came down to take a peek and then ran out again like bats out of hell when they looked into my bathroom!  HOLY CRAP!!! was a fitting expletive during this situation! After hours of frustration, I finally got a hold of the landlord’s parents and they sent over a plumber who told me the pipes are all plugged up so everybody’s shit was all forced to come out in my bathtub and sink.  I stayed at a friends house all weekend and refused to even go back into my place until the sanitation people came in their hazmat suits and sterilized the bathroom!  Even after they cleaned - I had to do my own bleach cleansing.  Thank goodness none of that shit reached the shower head! Many years ago there was a company that came to town with a pyramid scheme operation and they recruited me.  I can’t remember their brand name but back then I bought all their merchandise to sell and I am SO not a salesperson but they sucked me right into it big time!  If anybody came over to look at the various products I needed to sell  and wanted to buy something, I’d say “Oh you don’t want to buy that.”  Anyway, one of the items I used to sell was a shower head purifying system and I remember that of all the products I had, that the shower head purifier was fantastic!  I had one in my shower of course to show people and let them try but if I brought one into their homes and they hooked it up and tried it for a week - they were sold on it every time!   The gizmo was about $110.00 and I SOLD THEM because there really was something to having your showerhead water purified before the water gets to cascade down your one and only body! I got out of the business and had to pay off a huge loan I had gotten from a friend to start this business; the one thing that I benefited from was the shower head filter!  I remember that my hair felt softer and my skin was squeaky clean!  I miss that shower head and this review made me wonder what ever happened to it!  I’m thinking that the Jonathan Beauty Water Purification System could definitely ease the flashbacks I have when I recall my bathtub story!  I’m also thinking that if I could bathe beneath my own shower which would be hooked up to the Jonathan water purification system, that as soon as I finish bathing, I will feel much like Bo Derek in the movie “10” and run in slow motion all over our house yelling “I’m ALIVE!”!

Oh Lord, Jeanasina, that is the shittiest story I've ever heard. I think - no, I KNOW you would put me in a psych ward, on some heavy medication after that experience. Not to mention years and years of ongoing trauma counseling....I have goosies just thinking about it. My deepest sympathy, and congratulations for surviving that.Oddly enough, all the way back here in SA, I saw that very program when Jonathan washed his hair in bottled water. Friday nights are 'reality nights' on one of our channels, and I have some sorry, inexplicable psychological attachment to reality tv. You know it's out of control when you turn down dates, and time with your friends on a Friday night, so you can watch some idiot handing out red roses to his favorite 'galSSSS'..., etc etc on tv but there you go.... .

Ok first of all YOU POOR POOR SOUL!!! that is by far the most disgusting thing I have ever heard of a person having to see happen befor thier very eyes in thier own bathroom. Second of all I agree with you these purification systems work...my parents house in North Florida has extremely harsh lime and calcified waterso they got the whirlpool whole house purification system and even that could not take out all the sediment in the water. So for the three showers and kitchen sinks they bought the Aquasana filters and installed them and let me tell you HUGE DIFFERENCE! I love going up there and indulging in long hot showers the water is heavenly..and by the by my parents say they are definately going to get the Aquasana whole house filter.

Here's my favorite shower story.  Me and two of my best friends went to Europe in our late 20's.  We were on a budget so it was Hostels for us!  We got to our first Hostel in Barcelona and almost DIED when we saw our room.  There were three beds in a room the size of my walk in closet.  Each bed was approximately HALF the size of a twin and only about 6 feet long.  TINY!  They were so close together you could barely walk in between.  We had to climb over them to get around.  The last bed was pushed right up to the opening of our small balcony.  You could practically sit on the bed and look out onto the Ramblas.  The first bed was so close to the front door that it hit it and wouldn't open all the way.  We called it our mini-Laverne and Shirley room.  I know this sounds like TMI but its important!SO...I decided to shower before I went to bed and headed to the bathroom down the hall.  There was NO lock on the door...roll with it Angie...this isn't the US.   So I grab a towel from the rack, slip out of my all-together and jump in the shower that is just an open area...no shower curtain.  I had a face full of soap when I heard someone peeing in the toilet.  The kind of peeing that comes from up high indicating a man is peeing and NOT a woman.  I rinsed off my face quickly to see a VERY burly Eastern European man standing at the toilet taking a leak and happily checking out my VERY naked body.  I freaked out, jumped out of the shower and grabbed my towel.  I ran for the door quickly trying cover up when I realized the towel was barely the size of a HAND towel.  I was already in the hallway (with about 5 other curious onlookers) and halfway to my room so I covered up my bew-bies and girlie bits and just let my ass blow in the wind of my stampeding feet.I finally reached our doorway and THREW open the door.  Jennifer was on the other side of the door bent over on the bed.  The door hit her in the ass and she went FLYING across the room...bounced off the second bed, completely missed the third and ended up flat on her face out on the balcony!!!!  She was getting ready for bed and had nothing on but a tank top and her thong for everyone on the boulevard to see!So...our FIRST night in Europe and I got peeked in on by a hairy gorilla, flashed 5 other tourists and Jen B.A.'d an entire city block!  That's my shower story!!!!!!  We laughed for HOURS and took turns watching lookout in the bathroom after that!

I read about this water purification system last year but being the resourceful person that I am, I was able to confirm that the identical system is available at a big savings through another company. It's made by Aquasan and I got mine on eBay for $60. I also saw it available at other websites for approximately the same cost. Quite a savings from the $95 at Sephora. The installation was as easy as described and the results are the same. My skin is softer and my hair is in the best condition that its ever been.So this is a heads-up to others. You can get the same water purification system, with the same benefits, from Aquasan.Would love to hear from others who also took, or will be taking, advantage of the Aquasan model.

Not just for shiny skin and hair…. Everyone should use a shower filtration system for HEALTH reasons!!!!
When we take a warm shower, the pores of our skin open up and allow chlorine and other chemicals used to purify water to be absorbed. Just imagine the rate of absorption in a warm shower and over the entire surface area of your skin. The warm shower creates steam, which is where all the chemicals in the water end up. Not only do our pores absorb it, but we breathe in all of these chemical vapors. When chemicals and chlorine are inhaled they become a strong irritant to the tissues in our lungs, and can even cause asthma and bronchitis. And since these chemicals go straight to our lungs, they go directly into the bloodstream, which dramatically increases their adverse effects. Drinking this same tap water orally at least allows the kidneys and liver to have a chance at removing most of these contaminants.
I certainly cringed when my naturopathic doctor warned me about taking showers in unfiltered water especially since I KNOW chlorine is used to purify the local tap water. After finding out, I bought a shower filtration system for myself as well as my friends for birthdays, etc.

I stand behind my experiences with it. I will purchase the replacement filter when I need to. I feel that this is a very worthwhile investment. And I have to say that it was pretty great of the company to provide an extra system as a prize for one of you lucky readers. You can't get much cheaper then free! Good Luck!Michelle-Excellent point! Kellie, Mazel Tov on your first column, and wow!  You picked a fabulous product to launch "Does it Work?"  Great concept, and so very needed.  Your column has it all: it's informative, funny, full of the personal touches without which Meg's wouldn't be Meg's, and best of all -- free offer!  Plus now I'm just drooling to get one.  Only trouble is, I have no funny shower stories, only tragic ones (which, of course, become funny with the addition of time.)  You see, I live in an apartment with a Doomed Bathroom.  If something bad happens, it happens in my bathroom.  I brush my teeth and the sink comes away from the wall, crashing to the floor and narrowly missing crushing my feet.  My toilet decides to emulate Old Faithful and starts flushing UP, spontaneously, every hour.  My ceiling becomes my floor when the tenants upstairs turn on the bath and then go out to explore the delights of New York City, slowly and inexorably flooding their bathroom floor which then becomes my ceiling and then my new bathtub lining.  And of course my shower starts raining brown sludge down upon my upturned face when the waste pipe two floors up gets diverted by a plumber who then leaves before re-routing it where it belongs.  See?  My bathroom is doomed.  Cursed.  Haunted.  And I can never move because the apartment is rent-controlled!  Now tell me, who's going to give me a shower system for that?Kudos, girlfriend.

Kellie, first of all CONGRATS!! to your first official review. Wow, I'm amazed...and I do love it:-). First off - this is a great and amazingly valuable column in today's economy and I'm proud you represent it from now on! This is just what we crazy Megheads need right now.As for the product itself, it sounds almost unreal how kina "life-changing" this filter system is. But in a good way, don't get me wrong! I have to say, that I made the experience that being from Germany we have very "hard" water over there. That means, the water is full of calcium carbonate (so the chemical expression) which makes hair feel horrible, not managable and skin feel rough. The hard water scale differs throughout the country. It's especially bad in the South of Germany, between Stuttgart and Munich, where I come from (of course...!). So while living there, I had to use TONS of conditioner and hydrating treatments to get my hair somewhat under control. Here in the U.S. I experienced that the hard water scale is totally different and wherever in this country I have washed my hair, it feels much softer than ...over there;-).Nonetheless, the filter system sounds very interesting to me. Probably not only your hair does benefit from it, but your skin too. It's great that it's available at Sephora. I just browsed through their online store a couple days ago, randomly, but didn't come across it. Well, it was late...lol.To make a long story short, I'm very happy the filter system works (for you!) and I will purchase it with my next order. Definitely, because anything that makes my hair easy to comb through is a winner itself! You rock, girl!!

ohhh i would love a filter for my shower! Im not sure if i have hard water or soft water in Orlando, but it STINK!! and it makes my curly hair puff up and frizz too.. well that might also be the humidity.I have a reverse osmosis filter in my kitchen and it gives me next to pure water, it is fabulous. Shower storys? mmm i dont really think i have anything good, and for my routine it is just very boring.. but i try to make very sure that when i shave my legs i dont feel cold at all and bust that heat up, ive got a shaving rash so many times by shaving over goosebumps.. ouch! and then it leaves those horrible red dots all over the legs.. yuck!

My story is my most horrifying and funny shower moment...kinda gross. When I gave birth to my daughter, I had to have an episiotomy. the doctor gave me the kind of stitches that fall out by themselves after a few weeks. So...I have a major phobia about bugs touching my skin or my body in any way and I am extremely paranoid about it. so one day after I had given birth, i was in the shower scrubbing up and washing my hooha...when I felt something really spiky and weird in between my legs...i felt like i was in slow motion....in my head im going "omg omg omg that feels like a bug, if it is, I'm gonna die from a heart attack right here". So I reached down and tried to brush whatever it was away really fast so it wouldn't be touching my hand for very long. I didn't have my contacts on cause the water from the shower is irritating to them and I have horrible vision...i seriously can't see s$!t! So the thing totally felt like some prickly bug and it looked like a really long legged scary one! I screamed so loud, the dogs all started going crazy and I busted my ass trying to run out of the shower...and split my stiches open. All for that and when I put on my glasses to look at the bug....it is just a really ugly piece of stitching that fell off of my vajayjay! Is that sick/scary/funny or what?

Bless the person who invented the shower filter! I got a shower head filter when I moved to a city that has a bad water reputation. I noticed this one day when my hubs made some ramen soup and it tasted like straight up dirt. We threw it out and looked at eachother and said "Yep, it's true about the water, not lets go get a filter" Then I started getting all these scalp pimples which I've never gotten before. I posted this issue on a forum and was advised to get a filter for the shower. Back then I was like "Wha? They make filters for the shower? Awesome!" And I've been using one ever since. I get mine from the Home Depot, but what girl wouldn't want one that makes "Beauty Water" : ) My shower stories aren't anything outrageous at all. I used to live in a house that was heated by oil, both the water and the heaters running throughout the house. I was taking a shower one day and the hot water ran out super quick and it quickly turned into super cold ass water; not tepid or room temperature, just glacier cold! It was torture trying to rinse off, I'm sitting there shaking and shivering. When I get out of the shower I tell my husband and he looks at me with big eyes and says "Oh, I guess the oil heats the water up too.....sorry" I was so annoyed!! This happened when we first moved in and we didn't really understand the dynamics of the house. My husband had turned off the heater so we could conserve $$$.

That sounds wonderful, our water is terrible here!and my entire life ive had such horrible tangle some hair that I cannot wear it long!Okay,I spent alot of time debating whether or not to tell this story...But here it isIt's not totally my embarrassing shower story per say but I was there...So my ex and I lived in a converted garage in the back of my parents house, and the bathroom was in the next room over which was occupied at times and others not- my parents had a virtual boarding house for how many of our friends lived there at any given point- anyhow during one of those unoccupied times he had decided to take a shower just after I had grabbed the towels to wash- and of course him being a guy did not check the towel status before deciding to take a shower...so he took his shower (i was in our room reading) I heard the water shut off and he started yelling for me, he often yelled at me so I rather ignored him a lot. So I continued to go about my business reading my book when I heard the sliding bathroom door slam open and fall of the track (as it oft' did) and a second later a totally high pitched "girl's scream"Well I thought I should probably investigate at this point so I walked into the room and there was he in only what the Good Lord gave him in total shock and dismay hand cupped over his "lil' member" and at the other side of the room was my mom hand cupped over her mouth bright red and snickering. He shoved past me into our room grumbling and yelling at me (because of course it was my fault) and my mom gave me a wide eyed look  as I whispered "Did you scream?" to which she andswered "No, it was him!" and left the room snickering.Apparently my mom was generous about spreading her "little" story because from that point on- whenever her best friend was there and "the idiot" as i now call him was pulling one of his shouting sprees she would hold out her little pinky all sad and bent at him, so we'd all have a little chuckle to relieve the tension...Sometimes the Good Lord distributes Justice well...He was not a nice guy...

Shh.. don't tell my husband, but I have been secretly longing for another man.  His name is Jonathan.   His head delivers just the right amount of pressure (..water, that is).   Ladies, get your minds out of the gutter!  ;)
I have not been secretive about the fact that my mineral and chlorine laden town water absolutely sucks!   I've resorted to pricey salon chelation treatments.  It's so fun to see the brownish-green globby goop that is stripped from my hair.  Lord, please save me from these expensive salon treatments and send me a Jonathan.   My hair and wallet will greatly thank you.

I'm lucky since not only do I have water in my taps that tastes better than most bottled waters, but I have my very own well too. If only the water was softer! The most horrifying shower I've ever had was one of those mornings when nothing would work. First of all, when stepping into the shower I noted the last of the shampoo was gone, by brother having taken a shower before me.  Ok, thought I, I can wash my hair with olive soap, no big deal.Secondly, I noted he had turned the temperature up until the scalding point. If it had been a normal shower, this would not have been a problem, but this was one strange specimen. It allowed for high temperatures no problem, but did not despite me tugging and pulling and dragging and cursing allow me to lower the temperature again. So now, imagine me trying to get my waist long hair wet enough for washing, without scalding myself.Well, I had managed to get my hair wet somehow, and worked up quite a lather, enjoying the light olive fragrance, and it was time to wash it all out again. I turned on the water, lifted the shower head into position, felt the water splash over my head and then, suddenly, nothing. Of course, with the shower head we have, and the water pressure, nothing is almost the case normally too.I cursed, thinking someone must have turned on the washing machine in the cellar. So out of the shower I jumped, wrapping a towel around me, stomping down into the cellar, to find that the washing machine was turned off.Back to the shower I went, perplexed, still no water. Checking non of the taps had water in them, and my head was still covered in soap. What do a girl do, in such a scenario, when she has a bus to catch? She dries up as best she can, gets dressed and head to school with a cap on, promising to stop by the gym before class to finish the shower. Of course, in her hurry, forgetting a proper towel. :SThe reason for the whole ordeal? A bust water pipe just outside our street, soaking feet as I splashed through the river to catch the bus. It was after that that we decided to use our own well water.

Ok, I've debated telling this, but have decided to "entertain" you all with my shower tale... (WARNING: ADULT MATERIAL TO FOLLOW!)We have 2 full baths: the master shower and the guest shower/bath. Typically, we always just used the master shower, unless either of us felt like a bath. Well... The master shower has been out of commission for several months now because of what I am about to tell you... I will NOT be letting you in on the explicit details of this story, but suffice to say, I was in the master shower with my husband... (fill in the blank). I was, uh, was showing him something... and then caved in the shower wall. Yep... the tiles just caved right into the wall. Talk about a mood killer. Needless to say, we haven't yet made the necessary repairs, and have since been banished to the guest bathroom. My husband made up some awful nickname for me, too. I won't share it here, but it was modeled after the drink called "Harvey Wallbanger". Oh the humanity... I can't believe I broke the shower wall.

I don't have anything too traumatizing, but I do have something was pretty embarrassing.Once my boyfriend who lived a state away came and surprised me. It was pretty late and at night, but he had a key to my apartment and so he let himself in. I was in the shower. He came into the bathroom so quietly that I didn't even hear him. He started talking to me and I freaked out. I scream and I accidentally hit myself in the face and I got a nose bleed (I am so not kidding). There was blood EVERYWHERE. I guess it makes it look like theres a ton more blood with running water? Who knows. It made a huge mess and he felt so awful! It's pretty funny in retrospect but it was pretty embarrassing then. He pretty much yelled every time he came into my house after that :P

I remembered my shower story.  I saw "Psycho" in my first year of college.  Years later I moved in with my then boyfriend, and whenever he walked into the bathroom while I was in the shower I would scream. Every time.  For years.  Finally he said, exasperated, "We live together.  Who do you think it is?"  To which I immediately replied, "Tony Perkins."Years later I read that after filming "Psycho," Janet Leigh never, ever showered again.  Who could blame her?

I don't know how entirely convinced it would do a huge difference where I live (because our water here is thankfully amazing) but I can see how it would definately work at other places. We have a farm which we go to a couple of times a year and I can definately tell that my hair isn't as soft and shiny as compared to when I wash it at home!!My shower story is a little traumatising for me. It was a couple of years ago up at the farm. To take a shower you are in this corrugated iron shed, in a metal 'box' which doesn't have a front on it. If someone came in there there is sort of a divider to stop you flashing them but if they poke their head around they see everything! So anyway its the middle of winter and I decided to have a shower. Here I was lathering up and minding my own business when a HUNTSMAN spider decides to jump on me!!!What do I do? I try to brush it off and run naked and screaming out of the shower room trying to get it off me.Unfortunately everyone comes to see what is wrong and sees me doing a naked screaming 'get the spider off me' dance.Humiliating!!Loving all the stories :) :)
