NFL WTF? VICK IS BACK?

Meg here! Wow, Jocks ARE dumb! I don't know if you'll all remember but we went rightfully insane over Michael Vick and his dog fighting disgusting ways.
Yeah, I thought they should have given him the chair too! Well, I guess the NFL feels like he has paid his debt to society. The news is breaking that they have decided to "reinstate him." Um, why exactly?
The only way I would want that lunatic making that kind of money was if I knew he was giving a HUGE SUBSTANTIAL amount to dog rescues and charity.
He is a free agent and hasn't been signed to a team yet. I hope whatever team signs him sees MASSIVE FALLOUT. I hope serious boycotting happens. I'm not a fan of football anyway but seriously, does the NFL not realize how many football fans are also fans of man's bestfriend? What an example.
What do you think? Should he be forgiven and reinstated?

No I don't think he should that's terrible !!!!
I'm with you! He should be banned from ALL football leagues and other US sports. I think that he should be treated as he treated those poor animals. I think he should have to donate ALL of his assets to animal shelters/rescues! I have always said you reap what you sow. I fully believe in that principle.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!! Just the thought of what he put those dogs through (and those that supported him) makes me want to go all vigilante on his ass! I agree...whomever signs him may be paying the price of a very angry public. I wish he'd just go away.
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
Wow! I've started a firestorm on my Facebook page here is my response to the Vick supporters...

I think it's interesting that woman agree with me that murdering hundreds defenseless animals negates you the right to make millions after it. Comparing what he did and what others do is a moot point. We aren't talking about anyone but HIM. The fact this imbecile is going to be making millions makes me sick. I hope whatever team hires him loses the... Read More support of every animal lover in America. Any team would be insane to touch him with a 10 foot pole. Unless it is to stick it up his ass. Then I would hand said team any pole needed.
Oh that's too funny meg !!! I've got the pole where's his ass !!!
The answer is as simple as NO !

What, he should be forgiven so that he can go back to throwing a ball around for the amusement of others? Who truly believes that he 'paid his debt to society', other than people that gain to make money from his being reinstated?I seriously hope every team shuns his ass.
Michael Vick – ICK. So here’s what I think, first of all, I have always thought somebody should have done to him the things he did to his dogs so he could endure what they endured. Anybody that hurts animals in any way intentionally is a sick #@#@! Secondly, I think part of his punishment should have been to go to every state in America and go to the most public place possible and stand there with a sign around his neck for one month straight in EACH state that says “I contributed to the pain and suffering and death of countless dogs for my own pleasure and gain.” Recently a mom made her kids stand outside in a very public place with a sign on as punishment for something they did (old fashioned punishment). I don’t think anybody should want to hire Mr. Vick and if they do and pay him scads of money…it’s like condoning that what he did is now ok because he had some small form of punishment. What does that tell kids or young adults about treating animals with respect? They learn by example! If he gets hired again it clearly says... if you are a well known athlete, you can hurt an animal, then get a little punishment when you are found out, because you shouldn’t have done that. Then, lucky for you, people will forget that you were an abomination in cruelty to animals and pay you lots of money all over again because after all, you are good at sports and it’s important to have sports figures!!! I am continually appalled by all of it!
Jeanasina!
sickening. SICKENING.
I'm on the bandwagon with y'all. Vick is an abomination and I wouldn't pay to see him do anything -- except maybe get that pole shoved up his ass. I love my dogs and just shudder to think of someone doing to them what he did to those poor dogs he was in contact with. He's a jerk of the worst type.

HELL NO! I will never watch him do anything. What ever team picks him up is headed for some VERY BAD KARMA!This is disgraceful!!
I just can't believe how evil and cruel some people are !!! How can they not care ????I couldn't hurt any animal or a person I don't know how someone could do it !!!
It's often said that people who end up committing heinous and violent crimes commonly got their violent start by doing awful things to animals. I think dog fighting fits under that and I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see this guy do something worse to a human sometime down the road. Not only should he not be playing football, he should not be a part of the general population.
You know, like it or not, the USA has a huge influence on the rest of the world - so when you ok a !@#$%^& like this, you ok his behaviour. That he is able to show his face in public without recrimination, let alone actually being rewarded for it is beyond me. Sickening and disgusting. What a splendid role-model for kids who worship their sporting heroes....do people even think what the ramifications of letting this criminal back into the public eye are? Is this who you want the children of America to be cheering for????

I can only hope and pray that none of the NFL teams sign him.
As a teacher, I become really disturbed over the messages that kids often get about how being an athlete or a celebrity means you can do whatever you want. He should be completely banned from playing football and I to hope that there is serious backlash towards any team that is willing to hire him!
robinbird--you said exactly what I'm thinking! Couldn't have phrased it any better myself. Whatever happened to valuing character over money? I highly doubt any team that signs Vick is going to make enough to keep him. At least, I hope not, because that would indicate that fans don't care about what kind of person Vick is.

I just want to add one more thing--when I was looking at colleges, as an athlete, and when my coach was looking at recruiting other athletes, he wanted to know what kind of person they were, if they would be a good person for the team, and not just someone with a lot of skill but not a person of good character. I think he's one of the few college coaches who really was concerned about that, and that is really disheartening. It's even more disheartening to realize how rare that sort of coach is in the pro sports world.

Disgusting. The man deprived those animals of their lives..the least the courts can do is deprive him of his livelihood and fame.
This is such horrible news however not news to me as I've been keeping up with what the Commissioner has been releasing to the media about Vick and all his statements have been pointing to the reinstatement of this terrible being. I'm very saddened as I know there will probably be a team that will end up signing him..
That is just horrible, there is no way he should be forgiven and reinstated!!
Also, I know everyone's upset, and I am too... but not all jocks are dumb. Many are, and think they're entitled to everything, and can have their way, all the time. I know. I went to a very prestigious but athletic-minded school. If we treat people that way, and expect them to do that, they probably will just keep doing what they're doing. If we pressure them to be more than they are, I believe that professional athletes will rise to the occasion (or will lose money and have to shape up!)

I just finished talking to my fiance about this.. he obviously doesn't agree with animal cruelty, but he doesn't understand why it matters in terms of football, since his crime didn't have anything to do with football. I told him it has to do with morality.. someone like that shouldn't be put in the position where he will be idolized and cheered on. He should know what a low-life he is, and never forget it. Neither of us are sports fans, least of all football, and sometimes he doesn't seem to understand how much of an impact professional athletes can have, regardless of whether their actions have to do with the sport or not. I don't understand why people give so much credit to a guy just for throwing/catching a ball either, but I see that some people hold them in a high esteem for whatever reason. Vick's behavior and character are despicable, and a person like that definitely shouldn't be allowed to be in a position of adoration and glamorization.
I think it also has to do with little kids looking up to him, and wanting to be like him. Whether pro athletes like it or not, they are role models. Reinstating him sends the wrong message to the public as well as children.
How terrible!!! I must agree that it's unfortunate that he got off so easily. Debt to society paid? Not even close. The only way he should be back on the NFL is if he consistently contributes to the local humane society donating not only time but money for the duration of his career there and is on a permanent probation. One more screw up and he's permamently banned from engaging in any professional sport. I just hate how celebrities and athletes are getting away so easily with crimes, no matter how petty.
I hate him. I have yet to see him do ANYTHING to truly show remorse. If a team is dumb enough to sign him they should make him give his first years salary to the ASPCA or something. Honestly, what a low-life. I wish him nothing but unhappiness.
I hate WHAT THIS SAYS about our society!~
hrhtracey--that conversation that you had with your fiance is so interesting. It brought to mind the recent booing and signs giving David Beckham crap for backing out of his deal with the Galaxy, etc. Why is it that sports fans are more upset about that, than they are about Michael Vick? They said things to Beckham like "we don't need you" because he doesn't want to be there, but where are the sportsfans (not just women) who are going to say to Vick "we don't need you" because he has even worse character than Beckham?!

Meg, I was thinking the SAME thing. I just heard all this on the news. I cannot believe it. Yesterday when they said he would be given a chance to be reinstated, I was like there is NO WAY he would be able to join again. Today I hear this news.....it is sickening!

I just saw this on my homepage when I logged in and I felt sick to my stomach. IF he gets picked up by any team it will be a team that is already in a bad spot (scrub team as we call it here) and it will probably only be as a back up. I'm a huge Colts fan and at least I know my team will be saying no to Vick. They are to good morally and already have an awesome qb to mess with his mess. I think I remember something being said that he had to donate to the humane society and volunteer his time there as well when he was released from now on. I will just pray that all the teams in the NFL think this through and realize that he may have once been an ok qb, but that ok qb is not worth risking their fan base over.
I totally get where you're coming from, Tracey. Whether they intend or want to be or not, pro athletes are role models. Kids look up to these people. Yeah, what he did had nothing to do with football, but it's conduct unbecoming for a human being in general...Why should he get to go back to a normal life and make a ton of money after that?
absolutely agree!
This man shouldn't be playing sports anywhere but the prison yard!!
<This man shouldn't be playing sports anywhere but the prison yard!!lol i agree...he doesn't deserve to go back doing the thing that allowed him to purchase the dogs and fight them and we as sports fans and animal lovers should definately protest whatever team that signs him.

I'm as outraged as you, but I saw the writing on the wall as soon as speculation about his return hit the news. The thing is, if there is enough public outcry, and enough vocal sentiment against Vick, there is the possibility that no team will opt to pick him up, fearing a backlash from animal lovers. To date, I haven't heard any NFL Franchise express interest in taking him on. And this morning, T.O. was on the news saying that Vick has "already suffered enough", and so should be allowed do play without a 4 game penalty which was a condition of his re-instatement. And I think it would be a GREAT idea if he had to give half of his earnings to animal charities, then I would be all for his return, and wish him a long, injury-free career. The truth is, he had a tremendous gift which he chose to jeopardize in favor of extreme and pathological animal cruelty, and by making that choice, he shouldn't be allowed to get it back after a slap on the wrist.
OMG THIS MAKES ME SO f*(#NG ANGRY!!!! NOT ONLY AM I AM ANIMAL LOVER, BUT IM ALSO A DOG MOM TO THREE PITBULLS! VICK IS THE SCUM OF THE EARTH AND HE SHOULD NOT BE LIVING A LIFE OF LUXURY. HE IS A MURDERER!!!! I MIGHT FEEL DIFFERENTLY IF HE WAS REMORSEFUL....BUT HE'S NOT! SO MANY PEOPLE SUPPORT HIM IT MAKES ME ILL. I EVEN HEARD A LYRIC FROM A SONG THAT SAID "BUSH CAN GO TO IRAQ AND KILL WHOEVER HE WANTS BUT VICK CAN'T KILL DOGS IN HIS OWN BACKYARD?!" WTF WTF WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?! PEOPLE WHO ABUSE ANIMALS WILL EVENTUALLY PROGRESS TO ABUSING PEOPLE! HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENTENCED 3O429758 MILLION HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE SERVING ANIMALS!
here here!!! that should be his only job from now on! serving animals.
;) Gloss & Gum <3
Uggh I'm so pissy he will be signed by some team! I really agree that I hope there is massive fallout. The whole thing is ridiculous, sad and depressing! Shame on him!
I'm with you rere. Make his job working at the shelter for the rest of his life. Maybe then he will understand what he did was wrong. He doesn't sound/look remorseful for what he did. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about the same thing in another year. There needs to be a stricter policy for animal abuse. I don't care if you're a celebrity or not, YOU DO NOT DO BAD THINGS TO INNOCENT ANIMALS!!!!!
Wow I just read the article you linked to this and it broke my heart. I can't believe someone would be so cruel. And it shocks me even more that something like this could be taken so lightly.. People look up to athletes so what kind of message does this send?
Lets put him in a fight pen where he needs to fight to death and if he loses, lets take him out back and torture him for hours before he dies. As any soldier will tell you, it is the women to be scared of. They can fillet a man alive and not flinch. I could do it to this guy and not even blink, but have a sweet smile on my face. I know I sound truly horrible, but how can anyone do this to animals? Are these people even human? What goes on in their mind? Is it a sexual high to torture a dog? I have heard some people will do anything for a sexual high. I don't need to mention names. Remember Pulp Fiction.

Perhaps the only good thing that could happen at this point is that no team will show any interest in him and he will be completely publicly embarrassed in a way that might actually care about...because he obviously has no shame or embarrassment regarding what he did.
I think everyone should write their newspapers, news stations and every one they can think of. The louder we are the more we may be listened to. I already wrote to the big three stations in our city.

I just have to believe that there is something seriously psychologically wrong with him. I mean, I know I am much more of an animal lover than most people I know, but even if you are indifferent to animals, how could you ever do the things he did? And my nest friend has 2 pit bulls that she and her husband rescued from the Humane Society, and they are the sweetest, most loyal, gentle dogs you could ever meet. I am hopeful that no team will pick him up, if the public outcry is loud enough, so we should all do as Sharond suggested, and make your voice heard by writing to any and every forum that will listen. I think that the reason no one has picked him up yet is that they are waiting to see how the public will react to his reinstatement.
what he did is DISGUSTING, and I think there needs to be hours and hours of charity work, adoptings, pettings, cuddlings, and none of this "oh I already paid my debt to society" crap they're putting out there!
xxciaobella says, and I think there needs to be hours and hours of charity work, adoptings, pettings, cuddlingsNo no no no no. I got my kitten from the Humane Society where I play with cats so they are socialized for humans, and no way in hell would I want him there playing with cats and taking dogs for walks. The thought of someone that evil petting a sweet old dog makes me sick! His money is green though, so he can sponsor some local shelters. I REALLY hope whatever team signs him makes a sizeable contribution to a local animal shelter. My partner is an avid sports fan and tells me that there is speculation that Vicks is going to become a spokesman for animal rescue groups. I nearly puked up my dinner at that point.
Absolutely not, anyone who can get their kicks off of watching animal cruelty definitely has major issues.
Yea I tottally agree! Another example of society going easy on celebrities. Most ex convicts cant even get a job at mcdonalds! Even for petty crimes like theft.I would never support that team. He should have to give a substancial amount to pet rescue or charities for animals! For the rest of his life! He makes an unbelievable amount of money!!!At least he will forever be hated among animal lovers!
Tan is Love
With the humiliation he has faced, it would be suicide to come back.
Does anyone actually believe he has the slightest bit of remorse? Any apologies were carefully crafted by a highly paid PR expert. The only thing he is sorry about is being caught. And even then, I'm quite certain he thinks it's all hysterical overreaction by a bunch of animal hugging idiots. If you can do this in the first place, you are one sick (I was going to say 'puppy', but puppies are way above that) BLEEEEP (fill in expletive of choice). The thought of any child having a poster of this twit on his wall, asking him for an autograph, cheering for him makes me sick to my stomach. Are there not enough talented athletes out there that teams can actually make choices based on moral fiber??
