DANCE LIKE NO ONE IS WATCHING!
Meg here! I believe if we put ourselves out there we'll have more dancers!
"Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you've never been hurt and live like it's heaven on Earth."
— Mark Twain
I was at my sister's BBQ in a town outside of Boston. She hired a DJ-the problem? No one was dancing- No one was dancing at all. I LOVE Lady Gaga. I LOVE HER! Megken shot this video of me and tortures me with it!! He'll say "Oh, you think Meg is cool-want to see this video" and then everyone LAUGHS AT ME!
I may be a total spaz but I tried to liven up a party and I DID dance like no one was watching!! It's tough when your bestie is a film maker.
So here are some of my moves!! STOP LAUGHING!!! Someone had to get the party started!
Sticking your neck out is fine-it means you're alive and willing to be foolish and that is a great trait! I do more for "shits and giggles' then should be allowed! The heartiest laugh you have should be the laugh you direct to yourself!
You grow up the day you have your first real laugh, at yourself. ~Ethel Barrymore
So tonight I challenge you. I (duh-obviously LOVE GAGA) am 100% ordering you to be ridiculous!
We want to know your "theme song" what gets your heart pumping and YES!! JUST DANCE IT'LL BE O.K.! What do you dance too!!

I love Lady Gaga to! And I love the little girl in the background just staring at you! Did it work? Did everyone else start dancing?
there are so many songs i like to dance to it hard to choose
You totally rocked out and thats cool that you have the confidence to do that..you looked like you were the only one having fun..but then again they were having fun watching you!
;) Gloss & Gum <3
I think you just sealed the deal! Lady Gaga will be calling you for that back up dancer spot. AND, meg you topped, ELAINE BENES - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNsDSBwr7c4MY PREDICTION: 1,000 COMMENTS BY MORNING. This clip will go down in dancing history....
I love to dance too, I don't mind if I'm the only one, but lucky for me I come from a culture where dancing is just what you do.That quote confuses me though, It's been attributed to Satchel Paige, Mark Twain, William Purkey...I just googled and it still hasn't been cleared up.
OMG, you TOTALLY topped the "Elaine" dance!! Once, when my sister-in-law was 9 mos pregnant, and really huge, she, my brother and their 3 kids were at Chuckie Cheese, waiting in line. He noticed that they had this jumbo-tron type monitor and that it was showing the people in line. He convinced her that the kids were getting cranky and it would cheer them up if she did her "Elaine" dance. So there she was, really hugely pregnant, doing the Elaine dance on the big screen at Chuckie Cheese. And she never realized until they were being seated and she got applause from the diners.
erica I laughed so hard when I read that! I'm picturing it. Thats amazing! Thanks for sharing!
DANG, Meg, if I could dance like that maybe everyone would stop giving me such a hard time about my lack of skills on the dance floor. That was AWESOME :P I laughed at myself just a few minutes ago actually. A few friends and I did exercise band DVD and I got stuck w/the hardest band. I just laughed it off as I struggled to do the exercises :P

that was awesome, meg! if i could dance like you, i'd think about putting up a vid too, hehe, but sadly, i really should only dance when no one is watching...
Right now I am working ( I do sleep studies, talk about needing concealer) but when I get home in the morning I will be doing my Wii Fit Hula Hula Hoop and shaking it!
Oh, that was fabulous! I am a horrible dancer and usually too embarrassed to dance EVEN when no one is watching :)
Oh that video is just too cute! I love dancing to Lady Gaga, too, and any upbeat song by Pitbull. =)
hmmm reminds me of Saturday night, and my birthday at Crown Bar, and pretty much every spontaneous Gaga sing and dance party we have around the house... much like the one we just had 5 minutes ago :)my my my poker face , my my poker face....
I wish I had your courage Meg! I'm too concerned about what people are thinking to dance outside the comfort of my house... unless I'm 3 sheets to the wind. Way to put yourself out there Meg!There are too many great songs to consider my dancing "theme song," but my anthem is Warren G's "I Want it All."
That's so cute! I'm going to see Lady Gaga live today so am definitely going to dance a lot!
Oh yeah, Lady Gaga would make me move like that too! Anything by Michael Jackson and I'm on the dance floor!
I totally agree with you cause I do it lol I dance like no one is watching ! I can't resist a song that I love I have to go and dance even if I am terrible at it !!!and By the way I love Lady Gaga I seen her on stage and I can say she is a real performer !!!

haha that was amazing! I think back-up dancer for Lady Gaga is definitely in your future ;] Seriously though, dance like noone's watching! It might be a little embarrassing, but think of all the smiles you brought to everyones faces :) And I'm sure you got everyone dancing!
xoxo
How fantastic I loved that
I don't care who laughs at me when I dance I love dancing and when I used go clubbing I was always on the podium dancing away with everyone watching me :-) I do love Flow Rider's song off step it up 2 me and my son dance to this all the time :-)
Ha brilliant!-I do this thing that's known in my family as the dance(remember when ross in friend's had the sound)I do it to get a laugh out of them-you just go where the music takes you.Anyway one day the dance ended with me sliding accross the floor on my knees, not failing to notice my sister's ex passing the window-he was like "what the hell"I'd no choice but to explain the concept of the dance to him. Also got caught by my ex dancing around a telegraph pole to make one of my friend's laugh-OMG.

I've probably said this before, but I shamelessly dance with my dogs just about every day - the way my house faces into the common area of my complex, anyone walking past, and taking a look can see it. One little girl asked me what I was doing one day, so I told her 'rocking out with my dogs'. The other day she walks past me with a friend, and very matter of fact says 'that's the lady who rocks out with her dogs...' That said, I'm not sure I'd like to see myself on youtube - good for you Meg!!! Megken, keep that camera behind US borders :)

Ohhhh I loved this topic! The song that just moves me to get up and move is from the 70's...I'm sure you all know the main lyric that goes “Play that funky music white boy!” That song just propels me from whatever I'm doing into moving!
Years ago I worked at law firm and I had a tape player on my desk. One day the entire firm went out to lunch and I was all alone over the lunch hour, so I put in my 70's dance music tape and I had it cranked to 10 since nobody was there and I stood up and was getting down to PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC WHITE BOY when suddenly the door to the office opened and in came a big name client! I was SO mortified! I smiled and frantically tried to turn down the volume of the tape player and immediately tried to get back into professional receptionist for a law firm mode and greeted him! I'm sure he had to have laughed and I was praying he wouldn't tell the partner at the law firm that he had come to see, just what he observed!
I love to dance and music just reaches into your soul and pulls out the parts of you that want to move! I love the commercial on TV where the older gentleman in the doctor's office starts dancing to that 'move you body' music! I have an entire CD that has tons of music that gets the old hips gyrating and makes me feel SO HAPPY! If there is good music to be heard there are great body movements to make! Don't hold back! The elated endorphins must be off the charts when a person dances!Currently the songs that get me going are, "So What" by Pink and "I kissed a Girl" by Katie Perry!
Jeanasina!
Meg, I love this post!! I was right there in front of you and you really did get the party started with that dance! You shook your booty like a rockstar, lady gaga would be proud! After Megs preformace our other friend Amy came over and the three od us shook our boot's for hours, it was so much fun! We really let loose and it felt so good! One song thats gets me going is "Just Dance" by lady Gaga, I love that one! And also love Dianna Ross & the Bee Gee's :)
Meg and greenie, I am still so bummed that I was away that weekend and missed the dance party! I would have shook my booty to Lady Gaga with my beloved punks. SNIFF, SNIFF :( :(
That video is great! You radiate such confidence.

My theme song is Fergie's Glamorous!
Loved the video. Dance like no one's watching is my license plate holder. So love to dance. Took pole dance lessons for two years and I really do dance like no one is there. It really does something for my soul.
hahaha.. you're so funny! We should all be able to act a little silly and not just have fun!:)
ps..I have a few theme songs..Safety DanceWhip ItEverlongAll three instantly put me in the best mood ever! In fact if I'm cranky, my boyfriend will play them and my whole demeanor just changes! Love them!
"Movin' Out" by Billy Joel for me. I have worn out vinyl, tape and CD versions from rewinding and replaying. You go, girl! Girls! All of you, get up and boogie!!!!!
How adorable is this clip??? It really DOES say it all!!! LOVE IT!!!Sme people are simply "meant" to dance on a stage and some are meant to stand on the sidelines...either you allow yourself to live or you watch the living of others! Get dancin' people! :)I come from a big ol'crazy family and we're all prone to spontaneous outbursts of song and dance(with little or no talent,LOL!) If we go out as a group,no kareoke machine or DJ is "safe"...we will take over a room,LOL! :)Depends on where I am just about any song can get me going! Currently when I pole-workout/dance,my fav is the themesong from "True Blood" named:"I Wanna' Do Bad Things With You..." by Jace EverettMeg,can't wait to dance with you girl!!! Thanks to megken for truly capturing your beautiful spirit! My grandaughter is an AMAZING dancer at 11 and yes,she too LOVES Lady Gaga!!!
That video was great! I love to dance. Especially to the early 90's dance music. (ie: quad city dj's, la bouche) Dance music was great during that time frame. Another fav would have to be Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Cyndi. Who can resist that song! I have the nickname of gooberhead so believe me when I say you don't even have to ask me to do something silly. LOL.
My fave song to dance to is "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z. It has such a classy jazz feel to it...the beat is just so sexy! Meg, super cute dress! And it takes some balls to be the first one dancing, especially when everyone is staring at you and you are being recorded lol! You are so adorable!
I love this video! Everyone should be like this!My go to dance song is "Billie Jean". Even if I hear it on my ipod when I'm on the subway I have to tap my foot or something. It's so infectious!
I Think as long as your having fun.. thats all that matters... Besides who cares how you dance to lady ga ga.. do you see how she dresses on a normal day?!?!?!?! =D hehe.. i love to dance!! When Kat de luna's wind up... Calabria ... or the new pit bull song comes on even my 6'5 lumber jack boyfriend busts a move!!! =D <3 <3 <3
Thriller is a great one to bust a move to

You rock Meg!! BTW, I love the headbanging part the most;-)).
Make up your beauty-full mind...www.myspace.com/blackdivaworld
You look like you're having so much fun - and that's infectious! I'm a Lady Gaga fan too, and have a couple of her songs on my exercise playlist. I try to find cool dance songs to put on the playlist. That way, I keep smiling and moving! At this ol' age, I've finally decided that the time to be self-conscious is OVER. I can be as dorky as I want to be, and I've never had a problem with laughing at myself. So watch out World!

That quote is how I live my life, I love dancing and singing and don't care who sees or hears me! My friends and I even dance and sing in the car, to the Scissor Sisters. While stopped at a red light some people in the lane next to us saw our dancing and started up too. When you have fun and don't care other people around you start having fun too!
Life is too short to be self conscious and not have fun! You look like you were having a blast, hopefully, that mood spread to the other people there :)I love the little girl in the background who looks confused/stunned haha
me and my little girl love dancing to black eyed peas boom boom pow (we have music on demand and she brings me the remote saying "boom boom??" i have to play it about ten times day!!! she is scared of the computorised people and hides when they are on then jumps out and really boogies when its fergies bit!!! she is a right little mover!
i love that you are so care-free and started your own dance party! sometimes it feels so good to not care about what other people are thinking of you and you just go with what you want to do and what makes you happy. keep on dancing! woo hoo!

i couldnt view the video before but it just let me............brilliant! and i love the fact that no one else has joined in but she is still really going for it and enjoying herself!
I love, love, love to dance! I love any kind of R&B that has a lot of base that I can shake my J.Lo booty to! :)
That was fantastic!
i think it was a cute dance :) and it actually made me think- i used to love dancing but the last time i did was almost a year ago, on my birthday... I wish i could dance more often... i like your dress too, so colorful!
