URBAN DECAY INK FOR EYES!

Hi y'all from Goddess Granny who is going back to English 101 today because I love words almost as much as I love products!
They have so much power and when someone knows how to wield their weapons with grace and effectiveness I go weak in the knees.
My word for today here in South Texas would be "swelter": to affect with oppressive heat. Sort of says it all
However there's a cousin to this word that I LOVE to use and be personally defined by as well and that is "smolder": to burn slowly without a flame.
I think that anyone who has perfected their own form of "smolder" is a RockStar simply because they just KNOW that exact little movement or gesture to use that will relay the heat of their being and promise of their hotness to anyone in their presence! A little raise of an eyebrow,a twist of the lips,a tilt of the chin, (most likely perfected via many hours taking arms-length pictures of one's self for Facebook,LOL!) and the most sensual and seductive method of "smolder" out there is to be found in one's eyes....I can be reduced to a puddle of goo in the middle of the serenity of Barnes and Noble if the right man "smolders" in my direction. "Smolder" is something you acquire based on experience and that to my way of thinking, can be the hottest thing of all!
I am an "eyes" person for many reasons but they are the feature that is the most telling for my purposes. If I am ever close to being stranded on that elusive desert-island we chat about,I'd grab an eyeliner before I went for food! :) I'm right up there with the "greats" in this department: Cleopatra, Sophia Loren, Angelina Jolie in "Wanted",and any of Tim Burton's female characters!!! Give me black...Joan Jett black with lots of staying power and the ability to make me look bad-ass even if I'm in yoga clothes!
I have used some form of cosmetic "smolder" around my eyes ever since I figured out that it almost guaranteed that I didn't look "wholesome and perky!"
I'm not a girl who thrives in sunshine, who delights in fields of daisies,or who would EVER be considered "cute": I'm more of the type who's found in shadowy-corners,who would rather wear black then anything else, and who in spite of my upbeat and positive attitude much of the time, prefers to be called "geeky" rather than "glam" :) I think I'd spontaneously-combust if anyone handed me a white cotton sundress to try on.
Can we then chat a bit about Urban Decay? This company is simply AMAZING in my humble opinion! For over 10 years, THIS has been the brand I run to in any store it's carried in! It continues to evolve, suprise, and even sometimes shock me with it's amazing "of the minute" products and ability to stay fresh and current in a market so full of wanna' be's and also-rans.It IS the company that "sets" the trends rather than to simply jump on them and I love this little statement from them which so perfectly defines what they are all about:
"It's pretty. Maybe a little twisted. But never prissy. Makeup for your eyes, lips, nails, hair, and skin. It's always beautiful but sometimes unusual. It's makeup for individuals, not for those who want to blend in. Have fun, experiment, toy with a look that borders on dangerous. Shimmer, glitter, sparkle, sheen...use it all and change your face to match your mood. Go from a pixie to a vixen, from a rock star to a starlet. Be who you want to be today, just don't be average."
I have NEVER wanted to be "average" (the horror!) my pretties and neither should you! Whether you are 9 or 90, UD will hook you up in style and make you believe you have "smolder" already built-in or really bring it to center-stage with a tiny bit of effort and practice!
When I received one of UD's "Ink For Eyes" to try, I knew immediately that "average" it wasn't! I didn't even have to open the amazing container to be in love and already sucked into the dark-goodness of the "Zero" blackness inside: the shape is like no other, a slick and slender silver-toned case etched with a black fine-lined peacock almost anyone who's into "ink" would love to have on them! Flat out sexy without any apologies! Click the case open to find a long mirror and a beauty-tool that if I can't get more of,I will scream: one end has an angled-liner brush that is PERFECT for sweeping on a Sophia-like glam-slash of liner and the other end connects to a smudger like no other...It's firm but soft and allows one to REALLY make a hot-mess of the product if that's the desired effect, to simply soften down a harsh line, or to gently stroke on a bit of accent perfect for anyone who isn't really into the "liner-scene."
The "ink" itself is an OMG of perfection! Not quite a gel,not as harsh as a shadow, and not the least bit hard to handle: you can bend this product to your will any which-way and it will NOT let you down!!! The paraben-free "nylon 12" polymer according to the company, allows for a flawless application with NO flakies or breakies as you apply. You can consider this product as "fool proof" as any cosmetic I've ever seen! There's a generous amount of fabulous product in the case and I WANT EVERY COLOR NOW!!! I haven't let my black "Zero" case out of my sight since it arrived, it's totally portable and instead of "making do" when you feel you need a touch-up, you can pop this out and have your hotness back (in the immortal words of Uma Thurman..) "in two shakes of a lamb's tail!!!" I am never without this item anymore and it has SKYROCKETED to the top of my "Ultimate Holy Grail" of products list!!! It's with me on that desert island if I have to smooch a shark to get to it!
Check out the website: first of all, I would literally kill to look like the model for their Fall line, she's that delicious and If I believed in "Fairy Godmother's", I'd ask mine for one of EVERY SINGLE ITEM that's shown in the Fall online lookbook! I can't remember the last time I was so excited about an entire lineup:
They have totally and absolutely outdone themselves with "Ink For Eyes" and the new products featured! I've already tried to stalk a few but the Ulta and Sephora folks locally simply look at me with glazed-over eyes as I'm going on a mile a minute about "Sureal Skin" and the rest of it all...not available here yet but when I get back from vacation in a couple of weeks, I'm going to TRULY have to consider ordering up the whole damn lot!!!
Buy your own "Ink For Eyes" here because I am NOT sharing mine,LOL!!!
Perfect that "smolder" in an amazing range of colors and you'd best not leave yours lying around either
!

Are you into the whole "RockStar" glam-eye look or are you into a more subtle Megette-smolder?Have you had a chance to try this AMAZING PRODUCT!

Ooo I really want to try these out. I love the packaging on them. (yes im a sucker for packaging) But the product seems really cool too. I really want to try a blue or purple color. I feel it this would be much easier to use than liquid liner so hopefully I get a chance to try this out. Thanks for the awesome review! :)
I love Urban Decay, they totally rock! I haven't tried Ink for Eyes, but I'm a huge fan of their 24/7 pencils. As a matter of fact, they're the only pencils I'll use, as I'm a fan of the Mac and Bobbi Brown gel liners. I'm sure that once I give these a try I'll love them. I am one of those cute girls, who can't carry an edgy or sexy look. So, I like to wear my eyeliner in a "old Hollywood" look with a slight wing. I never line the bottom of my lids, as it looks to harsh and makes my eyes look smaller than they are.
Okay, so I was just checking out Ink for Eyes on the UD site... Can anyone tell me if the mirror is actually useful? It seems as if it's there for looks, as apposed to function. I also noticed that they have new foundation primers, I can't wait to try those too! One is for brightening while the other seems to be a pore minimizer. Oh no, now that I'm on a budget, UD just had to come out with all of these new goodies, what's a girl to do?
YES! The mirror is high-quality and if you turn the case sideways,it "frames" your eye area perfectly so you can apply!!! :)
Ahh, I'm in love with the peacock design! I want to try each of these colors. d:
The design itself seems to be worth the cost. I love that case, so practical to have the eye liner brush securely tucked away so it can't stain anything else when on the go.Me, myself, would probably jump at the cotton dress and grab it before anyone else had a chance. I'm a pretty natural girl. But you know, deep down there is someone who wants to try these in both black and brown, find those old jeans and a black tank top and just smolder away.
I love the packaging! It;s great for on the go, which is exactly what I need because I'm out of the house over 12 hrs. some days. I can't wait to try this. Binge looks gorgeous!!
I must agree with these ladies the packaging is Gorgeous ! and I wanna try this so bad a Black or dark purple would be Lovely !

and by the way I am a rockstar glam look I love dramatic eyes =)

GG (not to be confused with GiGi), you nailed it. This is such an amazing product that I am sorely tempted to just dump all of my other liners -- including UD's own 24/7s -- and simply stick to the 4 I now own: the black, the blue, the brown and the green. (Maybe I'll get the purple, but so far I cannot see the use of the cream for myself.)I am so with you on the smoldering, babe. I am blue-eyed with highlighted light brown hair that reads blonde. Do you know how hard it is for anyone with my coloring and in my age range to smolder? Believe me, much as I admire the woman's pipes, not to mention that James Garner once said she had the "best butt in Hollywood," but Doris Day is NOT my role model. I try to emulate Gloria Graham, but she had such heavy-lidded eyes I often get concerned comments from friends who think I suffer from myasthemia gravis. I want to be sultry, and when in the mood for that, with sashay in my step and come-hither in my eye, I have been reaching for Ink. Love it!
First of all, Goddess Granny, I LOVE your review!! Second, I'm an UD fan ever since and I totally agree about the fact you pointed out of not being average - that's exactly what I felt in my heart and soul ever since I could pronounce the word "makeup", lol. Dark corners are like a magnet for me, and if I can't wear black in some form, I feel unhappy. But let's get back to Urban Decay. I've seen this "ink for eyes" a couple days ago on their website, too. Now that I read your review, I definitely have to purchase. I want to experiment more with colors and since I do love "ink", I just have to get one for the packaging:-).

Great Review!I love this color, can't wait to try it!
fatcat, mjsred--I agree, the mirror must be turned lengthwise to really use it.The lovely meg sent me Urban Decay Ink for Eyes in Empire, a rich purple color. (How did she know I love purple eyeliner?!) First off, the packaging is absolutely adorable. I love it! The color selection is great, the little brush is good quality, and has the nice little smudger on the other end (I personally am less into smudgy on purpose, since my eyeliner ends up a little smudgy anyways!) However, in my opinion, the product leaves a little to be desired. I found the cream eyeliner itself to be quite dry (I've used other gel/cream liners in the past: Jane, Smashbox, Stila, and MAC) and none of them are quite this dry. I wouldn't mind that, except that the eyeliner also tends to ball up when I'm applying it :( I really really wanted to love this product so I'm pretty bummed. I'm also a little surprised because on Makeupalley and Temptalia, I've heard these are the creamiest liners ever and even saw pictures of swatches showing how soft these products are, and I've heard others on Makeupalley saying their product was also really dry. So I'm not sure about this product.

Thanks for the product comparison. I'm so scattered brained this morning, and forgot to ask how this compared to Mac & Bobbi Brown liners. I don't think I'm a big fan of the liners on the creamy side (like stila), I prefer the more gel like liners (like mac). When I hit up Sephora this week, I'll be sure to play around with this before I purchase it. I also love that it's paraben free!
I'm sorry to hear that it balled up on you... the packaging is so dang pretty!! Have you tried using an eye primer first? Maybe that will help. I want these so bad! This is at the top of my want-list AND lately, I really haven't been craving anything. It has a peacock on it! I want!
Hi Miss Jess--yes, I have been using an eye primer :( I'd still encourage you to go to Sephora and try it, and see how the texture is. And remember, you can return it to Sephora if it's one of the dry ones (plenty of people had no problem with the consistency!), so keep the receipt!

I'm a sucker for packagings and sometimes, the product being nice, is just a plus. I know, that's sad. We don't have that brand where I live but I really have to, somehow, try this product.
#1. What an awesome review! You make me want to go out and buy a tube right now. When I wear make-up, I focus a lot on my eyes because I wear glasses. I always want my eyes to pop because the lens can sometimes make my eyes recede.#2. I love the word smolder and I'm trying to figure out what is MY smolder quality. I've never been considered the sexy type but of the brainy type, the geeky type, the one of the fellas type so I don't know. I need to ask my husband and then work on it. We've been married for 14 years so I need to get my smolder game correct. lol. ;-)
You're super awesome!
The wonderful Meg sent me Ink for Eyes Binge, a dark blue color. I really love it. The packaging is gorgeous. The black is so pretty with the little design on it and it's very sleek. The product itself was pretty fab. It was a *tiny* bit dry for my liking, but it applied nicely. I love the little smudger part of the applicator. The brush side wasn't quite stiff enough for me, but I have tons of other brushes, so it wasn't a problem. The staying power of this product is fabulous - it doesn't move. It stays on for hours. It's perfect for making smokey eyes. I liked the one that Meg sent me so much that I went out and bought the black one as well. I want to get the purple and brown ones as well.
This looks intriguing! I am a big fan of the cream liners, but I’ve had bad luck with the included brushes (e.g., the smashbox palette has a completely useless brush). Can someone tell me more about the smudge thing on the end—is that like a firm eyeshadow sponge or something?
Urban decay is completely bad for my budget—I can’t resist their products. Guess their marketing folks know me too well!
Could this be the solution for my burning swollen eyes from eye makeup? Please be it! The packaging sounds divine - the paraben-free is an answer to my prayers, and the slightly dry, not creamy formula promises to stay put during a long hot, summer day. I love the Urban Decay 24/7 lipliner in Paranoid sent by Meg in my points package. It's great used as a lipstick. I get compliments whenever I wear it, and I love its staying power. Sephora, here I come...
Alert: Those of you who are interested in ingredients - I just located an unsettling discovery: Caution - Talc is in this formula. Cancer prevention warns against this - which causes cancer to form on ovaries, and easily travels around our systems. Talc is a relative of asbestos.
OMG. This is one of those products that I've been craving ever since they've been announced (along with Urban Decay's new facial primer). I NEED NEED NEED this item, but at the same time I NEED NEED NEED to spend less money :( What a terrible combination. I love the packaging above all on this item, and I really do think I'll pick one up next time I'm in Sephora. Even though my last cream eyeliner is not (and nowhere near) done, and I only do use black eyeliner, I CRAVE this item! :(
xoxo
OMG!! This product sounds Amazing!! I am an eye girl too. Even if I dont wear any other makeup I always have something on my eyes!!The case is just gorgeous. I am also obsessed with peacocks and am about to get a peacock feather tatoo!I want to buy it just for the case!!! even if the product inside completely let me down!! LolBut I know it won't because this review was FANTASTIC!!
Tan is Love
Double OMG!!!They have it in purple!!!!
Tan is Love
punkeydew- lol i love purples too. super excited about this :) :)
I don't usually throw major endorsements unless I love something so much I have a panic attack if I think I forgot it from my cosmetic case!!"Zero" Ink for Eyes is my new staple. GG summed it all up perfectly and I agree 100% It is so easy, the consistancely works amazing with my skin. My skin can be on the oily side so I did not find it to be too drying at all. The brush it comes with is just perfect to get ANY desired effect. I let my girlfriend use mine and she ran to Sephora and called me in a panic that the stores are not carrying it yet. I mean I've never seen her get excited over a makeup item before and she took a special trip to Sephora just to find it!! UD does it again. I give this item 5 glasses of champagne and a pair of pricey heels! I think it is just mahvelous dahling!!
I love Urban Decay!!! It's not sold here, so it's pretty hard for me to get my hands on it :( But when I do, I find it definitely doesn't disappoint! I'm going to have to hunt one of these down and try them for myself. I love bold, dramatic eye makeup and wear some sort of eyeliner (whether it be pencil, liquid or occasionally gel) everyday. I've yet to find a gel or cream eyeliner that I've found to be amazing, so maybe this will be it!
Dear Makeupper: Go directly to the Urban Decay website - do not pass "Go," or collect 200. You caught me after a Monopoly Game. Urban Decay's website has an intruguing "Steal Our Looks" section as well. Order direct, and - Enjoy!
oooh im intrigued now i kinda want to try it too...although i still love bobbi brown gel liner too so it might be a hard sale.
These sound amazing! My only concern is the staying power. Do they last long w/o smudging or smearing? Thanks!
i LOOOVE what people can do with there eye make up!! .. I try soo hard but just pull off a aweful mess!!! I end up looking like the 80's or something horrible like that!! I had seen some where they have the makeup applied to like a sheet and you rub it on you lid! but i havnt been able to find it since!! I can do hair like a rock star.. but make up no so much =[ sad panda!!! <3 <3 P.S Iam gonna try to rock smolder today in a sentence! You have inspired me!!! hehe
I love eye makeup!! I but just about everyone I can get ahold of! I will dif have to hunt this down and give it a try! Thanks for the info on it ladies!
I loved your post, and I'm going to give these a try. But I'm wondering what Barnes & Noble you're shopping in? lol
I absolutely adore the look of this product - it looks so glamerous and understated with the hand-illustrated regal peacock with inlaid mirror is just *stunning*. Plus I just looked at the site and the colours Empire and Loaded look absolutely incredible! Mm, purple and green liner.. sexy and sassy and just plain rock! I wonder if I could pull them off at the same time? ;]That said, I'm a liquid eyeliner girl all the way.. I think I'm in the minority here, but after many years of practice and after finding my number one liquid eyeliner product [Dior Liquid Eyeliner] I don't think I'll be changing anytime soon!Great post though, I love seeing new things that get me excited! Even if it's only for the packaging. ;]
oooo I HAVE to try this!!! I also love that it is Paraben free!!! Hopefully we see more new products like this!
Dear Mileena123: Interestingly, only some of Urban Decay's items are paraben-free. And, occasionally there is talc as well. I like that they list all of their ingredients on the website. Their 24/7 lipliner is my favorite - thanks to Meg!
Route66It looks like most of their new products are paraben-free. I guess this means they are slowly changing over their products to better formulations. Their new primers don't have any harmful ingredients. And Talc is only rated a 2 by the cosmetic database. If you enter the entire ingredient list into the cosmetic database it is only rated a 2. Which is really good!
I LOVE urban decay! Their products are just so out of the box and the packaging is always amazing! I really struggle to find the practicality of the mirror...does anyone really use it? I think it is there for aesthetics!
Naturally if there is a full mirror nearby the first choice would to use that, but should you be caught in that Barnes & Noble and wanting to check that your eyeliner is especially doe-eyed before putting your best smoldering glance to the test on that guy, then I contend that when held parallel to those eyes, the mirror does the job. Beautifully.
Urban Decay is the absolute best! I love all of their products and can not wait to try this one!
Hi There, Okay, I'm one of Meg's besties :) I was over at her house maybe two weeks ago and I was primping for a night out with someone I def. wanted to look good for. I had left my eyliner at home- the horror! However, I had no fear as Meg has almost anything I would need in her room. She said, and I quote, "oh my gosh, I have the greatest eyeline ever, you just can't steal it Kristen." ( I've been know to be a klepto before) Hot damn, was she right! It took everything in me to not accidentally put this eyeliner in my purse. Its simply perfect. It goes on easily, blends easily and LASTS! I am so used to having to wipe under my eyes to get rid of faller eyeliner and this stuff really, truly, lasts. I also love how i feel like Im "painting" my eyes with it. so, two days later, I run into sephora to buy it and was HEARTBROKEN to realize it wasn't in the stores yet!!! I called Meg in a panic and low and behold she got me my own eyeliner a few days later (thanks again lady) Honestly, get this stuff. Best beauty purchase I've made in a long time. :)
hahaha...just read meg's post from above...I am that girl!
how is the wear on this? Does it hold up to a Texas summer?
these item is awesome i have it and it holds really well (i live in southern california)
I have said in my previous posts that I LOVE UD! You are so very right about UD being up to the minute on everything. I first discovered this brand my first ever trip to Sephora. Their packaging caught my eye. The packages are so fun looking. However, it is the products that keep me coming back for more. I love their 24/7 liners. They have a bit of sparkle to them that I was not expecting when I first tried them. I live it. It is that little evtra something that they are known for.I have not tried this item so I can not comment on this product in particular, but I know it is of high quality with a name like UD on the label. :-)
A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.
-Coco Chanel
I really need to get my hands on one (or more) of these. Just the packaging makes me drool! I love UD, they always have such awesome unique stuff that i can't resist!
Urban Decay seriously rocks in the packaging department. It helps in the selling but it doubly helps that the actual product is really good! I've seen swatches of these and I'm drooling over all the colors!
They Do have some ridiculously fabulous packaging. They need some Supa Sales tho!
this looks gorgeous! another one for the wishlist!!! enablers!!!!
