PAUL MITCHELL MOISTURE!

paul

Jeanasina here and as our story begins I was sauntering around in an Ulta store one day. I had in my hand all the valuable purchases I was specifically there to buy, when suddenly, without warning, I was compelled to go to the massive hair product isles located in the back of the store! Let's be clear here; there was really no REASON for me to even be in this section of the store.

Well, before you could say “Leave the store hag!!” I found myself mesmerized by the picture on a box of Paul Mitchell “Moisture” hair care products! There, attempting to have eye contact with me, was a compelling stunner of a blond woman with these big sexy eyes – man, I'm a woman, but this little sex kitten was practically screaming at me to stop and look at how fantastic she looked on that box! Oh honey...I wanted to look like her in a big way! I pretended in my imagination for a few moments that by using whatever product was inside the box that her face was plastered on; that maybe, JUST MAYBE I could look like that! Age would reverse within a few days and, oh I'd be living the good life!

But reality set in and so I thought well, she, the sultress on the box, caught my eye with her adorable blond haircut (also fantasized I would look good in this cut...) so I should really see what's inside the box she's on! Now, please remember that I am a life-time member of the Pureology hair care fan club so really...nothing will outsmart those products in my estimation.

I reached into the box and pulled out the 3 containers. First I opened the Instant Moisture Daily Shampoo and sucked the smell up into the deepest membranes of my nostrils! FRESH!!! Then I opened the Instant Moisture Daily Treatment and since this is in more of a tube I did the squeeze and smell. Then while looking to my right and then my left, similar to the way covert operatives for the FBI are seen doing on TV, I took the cap off the Awapuhi Moisture Mist and I did an illegal spray and smell right there in the isle! The products all met my standards for purchasing them even though I didn't need these products in my estimation!

When I got home and my Pureology products saw what I had in the bag, they were disgusted and I think I heard the word 'traitor' as they inched their way on to the back of the shelf facing away from me so they wouldn't see me bringing these hair care strangers into our home. I quickly ran to the basement to my laboratory and wet my hair down and then brought out the Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture Daily Shampoo. Right out the gate I could tell that this was to be no lie (the part on the packaging that says “Hydrates & revives”! DEFINITELY noticed a difference as I shampooed!!! My hair almost felt limp and when I washed out the shampoo – I could run my fingers through it already! Not that I did that for any length of time while shouting out words of compelling pleasure! I applied the P.M. Instant Moisture Daily Treatment – left it on as indicated and again...my hair shafts felt so smooth and like new all the way to the ends! My comb ran right through my hair!

After I dried it and styled it I was amazed at how SILKY it was! I kept thinking, “This is quite remarkable!” I really didn't expect to think that! I loved how my hair turned out after I blew it dry and flat ironed it! Even the ends were dreamy smooth! For the final flair and to keep me in the mood, I gave myself a spritz of the Awapuhi Moisture Mist! I didn't dare go out of the house for fear the neighborhood men would come flocking to ask if they could touch my hair!

So lovelies, every one of you....IF you have any kind of hair that makes people constantly get your attention by saying... “Hey Freakshow Clownhair head!” I think these products are you for you! They really add moisture! I paid a little over $12.00 for the three. I alternate using the Paul Mitchell moisture products with my Pureology Hydrating products. I don't want any kind of an altercation to take place between the two brands so I keep them on separate shelves in the bathroom! I don't look like the smoldering lady on the box after using this stuff but my hair really looks like I'm having an incredibly good hair day every time I use it!

If you look on the Paul Mitchell website you can read further details on each of the tree products I talked about here today!  There is also a link where you enter in your zip code and by doing that you will be able to find the closest salon near your particular location that carries these great MOISTURE products!

I want SO MUCH to love Paul Mitchell.  But, it makes my scalp itch and then I get huge bumps in my scalp!  YUCK!  I use Nioxin to keep my scalp under control. The place I get my hair done is supposed to exclusively Paul Mitchell.  But, my stylist secretly uses something else so I do not have a break out.  SHHH! Do not tell.I do know that PM does not test on animals and even got an award from PETA a few years ago.  I would use this stuff if I could because it smells great!

Jeanasina, you're halarious and I love your writing style!  I bought my hubby the PM Lavender Mint Moisturizing set about a month ago because those are to of his favorite scents.  It's a part of the tea tree line that my hubby was a huge fan of, until he started using my Lush body washes that is.  While on vacation last week, I burnt my scalp.  Yesterday, I noticed it was peeling, so I decided to give the PM LMM a try.  I loved it!  It was sooo moisturizing and heavenly smelling, plus my hair felt like silk.  I also love PM's concern for animals and the environment.  While the product had sls, there weren't any parabens.  I will keep the Lavender Mint set in my shampoo/conditioner rotation from now on.

PM was my first foray into "non-grocery store" hair care products.  I have a cousin who is the #1 colorist in ALL OF San Francisco (article in SF Chronicle about him a few months ago).  He's just INCREDIBLY talented and has been since he started out cutting and perming my Granny's hair when he was in HS!  He was the first to tell me STOP buying hair product that has alcohol and use good product on your hair.  He gave me my first bottle of PM that smelled divine.  I have been and on again off again fan every since....off again just because I get into a scent rut and like to try other things.  I haven't visited PM lately and this might just be the ticket to get me back again.BTW...I'm sure I can't even afford my cousin so I have to home box color my hair.  He'd die if he knew that!

Love, hugs and shoes...Angie

I always thought Paul Mitchell products were on the more expensive side, these sound really reasonable though. I love their skinny serum. I use it all the time. These products sound great - I need all the help I can get in the fabulous hair department. My hair is always oily near my scalp and super dry on my ends. I think I may have to check out this set because it sounds pretty fab!

$12.00 is a pretty decent price! So funny that you mentioned Ultra. The are building one of those down the street from where I work and my girl friend JUST got hired yesterday to start working when they open. I'm not sure how this would do in my hair. My hair is SO fine, that while I love it being moist and soft, too much usually makes it super limp. And all us girls know, super limp is NEVER a good thing ;-)

Very funny Ladybug, "super limp is never a good thing".... Truer words were never spoken!  Jeanasina, I can just picture you running down the stairs to your basement, frantically ripping open the PM boxes, just so you can begin your experiment! You light up a room girl (and my laptop-impressive)!I started out using PM products as a young adult but never really fell in love with them.  I did love the different scents they offered, but my fine, naturally wavy hair never quite got along with PM products.   Sorry Paul, it's nothing personal, it's not you, it's me.......My mom on the other hand, the one with the thick, full head of hear (the jerk) always loved this brand.  She'll hear about this for sure, thanks Jeanasina!

I love Pureology, but (please wait while I dab my eyes) I gave it up as part of my cost savings efforts in this economy.  I just can't justify 25 dollars for a bottle of shampoo.  So I have been adrift at Ulta and CVS trying to find the next best thing.  I do like Bed Heads Sulfate Free line and with a coupon or the buy 2 get 2 special at Ulta, it is a little more wallet friendly.  As a confirmed product junky, I am always on the prowl (can't tell you how many spritzes I have done in public in my lifetime!) for products that are moisturizing and color friendly.  I will give this a try.  My 90.00 haircut (I didn't give up EVERYTHING!!!) deserves it.

Hi ladies!  I wanted to follow up with some important information.  I was fortunate to speak with someone from consumer affairs at Paul Mitchell today because I had let them know about my review of their moisture product line!  The consumer affairs department had me talk to an expert in their ‘diversion department’ and it was there I learned some really important facts!
She stressed that you should only buy Paul Mitchell products in salons or stores that are AUTHORIZED to sell their product.  She said that any of their product that you see in drugstores, grocery stores, etc. is sold outside of the authorized chain of distribution.  Their word for this sale of unauthorized product is called ‘diversion’ and they have an entire department that deals just with this!  She went on to tell me that any product you purchase from an unauthorized source was sold to that source (such as Target, Rite Aide etc.) outside the authorized chain of distribution.  She said you could be using an OLD or counterfeited product!  She said any store that is unauthorized to sell their product gets their products from the grey market.  She said the ‘grey market’ are people who deal in exclusive goods that are not made by the original manufacturer or creator.  She said their television ad stresses to only buy their product in the salon.  She went on to say that in their home location where they have Paul Mitchell salons, the customers have to sign an actual waiver that states that they cannot sell this product on the internet!  I’m sure this is also why I noticed that you cannot buy this on the on-line website of Ulta!
Devildoll, the consumer affairs person I talked to specifically read your comment and asked me to just let you know to beware that the product you get, even if it looks like their product, might not be.  Of course I’m hoping for you that it’s the real deal!
I have ALWAYS wondered about purchasing brand names from chain stores so this was great information that I learned today!  I hope it helps all of you!

Jeanasina!

Thanks for the info.  I know Paul Mitchell used to have commercials about this very issue.  Thanks to the PM public service announcements, I've never bought salon quality products at the grocery store, drugstore, ect., but I've always wondered if Ulta was an authorized dealer because they sell a lot of drugstore products, but they also have a salon (so confusing for this blonde).

Thanks for the tip, $12 is worth a try to fix what this summer's heat has done to my hair. One question though ... does it rinse clean like ... squeaky or does it feel slick after rinsing? It makes a difference to me, I'm weird like that.

I have used Paul Mitchell in the past.  Specifically, I love the Instant Daily Moisture Shampoo and Treatment (a-hem, conditioner).  This is one of the ONLY product lines that made my boyfriend take notice.  He actually said to me that my hair seemed more "vibrant" and asked if I had changed what I was using.  I personally found that while I didn't notice a HUGE difference, it did leave my hair feeling and smelling very fresh, soft, and just plain nice. No weigh-down, either.  Although I would be very happy with this on a daily basis, I have a hard time finding it!  Most places seem to only carry the treatment and not the shampoo.  I'm one of those people who likes everything to match, and when I've found a product I like, why mess things up by using a different variety?

We have Paul Mitchell here, but for some reason I've never tried it. Maybe I should be a little adventurous and consider it - 'Hey Freakshow Clownhair Head' about describes my hair 95% of the time. The other day my gay neighbour popped round, and was so horrified at my hair that he made me go get a brush and brushed it into submission himself.....I think he was thinking what you wrote....

SO, testphase done. Test score: A+!! This kit is really wonderful! After washing my hair with the shampoo for the first time, I could really feel the moisture IN the shampoo, because after rinsing out, my hair felt great already, almost like it wouldn't need any conditioner afterwards. But of course, I had to try the "treatment" that came with it, and after rinsing this out it left my hair even smoother, amazingly soft. Both shampoo and conditioner have a nice, fresh scent which makes "the hair ritual" a pure pleasure. The moisture mist (something like a leave-in treatment afterwards) is very good too. It smells great and fresh and works great as a detangler (although you shouldn't have any problems with it after using both shampoo and conditioner though). Bottom line, after blow-drying my hair, it was shiny, sleek and felt not dry at all. Just right, I would say, as the products don't weigh your hair down. I definitely recommend this set for anyone with colored hair, brittle hair, and of course anyone who struggles with frizz. It's like magic!!

I love Paul Mitchell's Skinny Serum.  I have tried so many serums for smoothing out my frizzy hair when I blowdry it and this is one of the best.

Thanks for the review, the Purology moisture line hasn't been that great for my hair so I stopped using it. But my hair is dry and I struggle to find a good system for it. This looks perfect and I believe Paul Mitchell doesn't test on animals as well, so I am going to search for this and try it out!...and for $12 how can you go wrong?

I have dry hair and have not used Paul Mitchell in  years, I may have to try this one! I have to use a leave in conditioner everyday because my ends are so dry.
