KUMAARA
Sweetassgal here!  I had a rather brutal reminder this weekend of how fast things do change as we get older.  I'm only 34 but when you haven't seen someone in 15 years the changes are a bit shocking.  But this was sort of a shock in reverse.  I ran into my ex.  No...I guess I should say THE ex.  The first one ever to break my heart, rip it still beating from my chest and serve it to his hounds from hell on toast points.  And he looked hot ladies...damn hot.  GGGRRRRR.  Shouldn't he be 400 pounds and covered in boils like we planned God? ...is that too much to ask!?  Alas...he didn't look any different, but I sure the heck do!

The girl he knew was about 110 pounds with long straight blonde hair and smooth white skin.  I'm currently embroiled in the battle of the bulge, my hair has gone crazy curly, I went brunette and am suffering from embarrassing Rosacea. What the...hey God...he's the one that cheated not me!  So what's a girl to do in this situation?  Hunker down, pull your visor down tight and PRAY for a freak earthquake to swallow you up right where you stand!

While the topical Rosacea serums I am trying out take effect, I'm left with good ol' fashion cosmetics to divert the eye from my constantly red skin.  I swear if ONE more person says "Got some sun this weekend didn't ya!?" I'm going to rip their colon out through their nose.  I'm NOT SUN BURNT...I HAVE ROSACEA!!!!  So how do you tone down red skin without slathering on cakey foundation?  Light.  Light is the key.

Kumaara Luminescent Primer
has been a saving grace in recent weeks.  This light primer smoothes skin, fills small wrinkles and gives your skin the kind of soft glow that mutes harsh red tones.  It doesn't cover it up...it softens the red and brightens the tone.  And it's not heavy or thick.  It's silken formula glides right over your skin and worn alone or under makeup really has the ability to flick on your inner skin light.  I've been pairing this with the Epione SPF 30 used only as a face and neck moisturizer and they work together beautifully because a little goes a long way.  Initially I was worried that the little crystals of light in the primer would show up on my face like glitter or make me look shiny.  I don't wear mineral powders because they make me look shiny...I prefer matte.  This somehow manages to give me a glow without making me look like an oil slick.  I do start to get oily my mid-afternoon and out come my blotting papers but that is pretty standard for me.

I've been trying to REDUCE product (find and all in one) but until this redness is under control I simply have no choice.  I was intrigued by this primer and the other Kumaara products I've received from Meg as well.  But this was my first to try since I had an immediate need to address.  Kumaara is the Sanskrit word for "youth" and really isn't that what we're all searching for here?  The secrets that will turn back the hands of time and give us the skin we had at 19 so we don't have to do the dive-tuck-and-roll behind the nearest garbage can?  Heck...I'd have scaled the walls and skimmed the trees like Spiderman and Crouching Tiger's love child to get the heck out of that awkward situation.

Kumaara - "Everyone deserves youthful skin.  Your skin deserves to look and feel flawless. You also deserve the best that the world offers, in the form of advanced beauty methods that are as natural and nurturing as possible. This philosophy is embodied in Kumaara's unique and seamless blend of Eastern botanical traditions and Western scientific innovations."

Share the Kumaara
love because I know everyone is getting this with their points and can't wait to hear what you think!  Until then...just know that the ONE time you leave the house "less than perfect" is when you are bound to run into your HOT EX!  It's just Murphy's law and I don't know about you but I'm up for beating the hell out of this friggin' Murphy guy!  GLAM ON!!!!

Hand raised high.  No, both hands.  Sorry, sorry, I know I just became a convert to Monistat as a primer, but call me a flip-flopper (or call me Ishmael, I dare ya), this little tube of luminescent goodness has made me switch back.  I truly love it.  No rosacea here, SAG, but I am presently suffering the agonies of the damned, if the choice torture of the damned is chronic hives.  On any given day I can wake up clear-skinned and relatively bushy tailed, but the next day I have patches of red hives on my face, my neck, my chest and anywhere underwire or elastic touches my body.  All because I had the temerity to take a cortisone shot in my spine to relieve pain.  How dare I.This primer is totally non-greasy.  It sinks into my skin, evens the tone, reflects light without glitter and leaves a fine smooth canvas for any foundation or bronzer I layer over it.  I though silicone was the way to go, but this formula is light and airy, and it doesn't leave my skin feeling weighted down.  I love it.  I recommend it.  Go ahead, try it.

My only caveat...wish it had SPF so I wouldn't have to use 2 products.  And an SPF of at least 30 but preferably higher!

Count me in Sweetass, I'll help you beat Murphy's ass any day.  Got your back sister! To hell with that guy!  You are you, loved by legions and most importantly, your HUSBAND!  Let us not give him another thought (after today of course).  I am with you on the Kumaara love!  It looks and feels wonderful.  It doesn't draw attention to your flaws like some primers can.  It made my face look brighter and smoother, with my multi-conditional skin, that is a miracle in itself! Most importantly, NO IRRITATION!   This primer lays very nicely under several different foundations.  I am always trying something new with my foundation.  It provided a nice, light base that held up really well throughout the day.  I like Kumaara's philosophy, very inclusive.

I am astounded at this product. Meg sent me this and some other Kumaara goodies in my Most Fab Gift.  I didn't really know what to expect.Shortly after getting my package, I decided to take a shower and just redo everything.  Now, my hubby came home early the day this arrived, and, was pretty amazed at all the items.  I showered, and then used my regular moisturizer,  well, the one I have been using lately, Purpose SPF 15, which is nice, and then used the Kumaara Luminescent Primer. Now, I have been a fan of primers for a while now, and love them. And I am also a fan of things that illuminate. But, this is the first time I used a product combining both in one.  I wasn't sure what to expect. BUT, WOW!!!!Like Sweetassgal, I have rosecea.  Every time I take antibiotics for an ear infection (about every two years or so) it improves slightly, or stops getting worse. This is great, but, there is no way I can take antibiotics longterm.  Metro Gel on prescription did very little in over 2 years of faithful use.  Mine is better now - this spring I discovered Proacea, an over the counter, homeopathic gel. This is often found in the first aid section of various drugstores, and is carried at Drugstore.com.  I had little hope on this, but, it had fairly good reviews at Drugstore.com so I tried it. It rocks. I saw noticable improvement in the redness in three days, and, in a month about 75% reduction in redness.  I am not kidding. This stuff is pretty amazing. People that know me have commented. My magnifiying mirror tells me it has worked. I now use it nightly as maintance. Hey, if I can have a 75% reduction in overall redness, and the little white bumps being pretty much gone, I am in love.  Anyway, still a wee bit of redness, and some broken capillairies.  I have been in torment on them.  One, I have read that lasars will work and remove them, but, they often come back. So doing lasar treatment has been on my mind, but, I suppose I really don't want to pay this price and have them come back. So I have started taking large doses of Vitamin C and Lysine which research using my pal Google have suggested might help the capillaries. Too soon to tell on this. What I have to say about the Kumaara LUMINESCENT PRIMER is that it really does just what Sweetassgal said it does.  I was astounded at how good my skin looked with JUST THIS ON IT.  Oh, and a dab of concealor on the broken capillaries, but, more on that another time. My husband was astounded that I had no make up on. I asked him how I looked and he said "fine."  "Really? I asked, can you tell the difference?"  What difference?" he asked, "you always look nice, your makeup is great."  I am not wearing makeup," I replied.  He really looked then, and said, "your kidding, right, your skin looks really good then if that is basically your bare skin."  And it was, only better!  Kumaara should just call this MAGIC cause it is!!!!  I use Philosophy's Make Up is Optional Skincare, so other than the rosecea, I have pretty much perfect skin. (And yes, I go VERY easy on microdermabrasion on my cheeks!). I didn't think anything could do whatthe KLP does. My skin looks even better.   And I have since tried it with light layer of mineral makeup over it. Perfection!  And my makeup stayed perfect all day - creme blush with mineral makeup over.  Glowing and perfect skin, and no need to blot my nose every few hours.  It just takes good skin to the next level.I am totally in love and will be using this as a permanent part of my regime, and, will be giving their entire line a close look/try out.  And, Meg, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for sending this to me.

Yes Meg...THANK YOU!  This primer is one of those "make up life changing" events.  It's one of those things that once you've found it...you won't be without.  Try ripping it from my cold dead hands.  I dare ya PUNK!Agrimony...I've got to try the Proacea and the vitamins you suggested after I see how my current regime works.  I've got the Rosacea line from Eminence Organics to see how it goes.  The Cuperose C Serum (ingredients Rosehip, Lavender, Rosehip Extract, Horsetail, St. John's Wort, Peppermint, Bioflavonoids, Natural Moisturizing Factor, Xanthan Gum, Biocomplex™ (Vitamin A, Esther C, Vitamin E, Coenzyme Q10, Alpha Lipoic Acid), Peppermint Oil, Glycerine, Glycine Derivative) seems to be working but its $42 a bottle.  A review to come later!

Being half Asian, I rarely burn, but my skin has been really irritated and red lately, and I have huge pores, so I need to cake on foundation to cover it. I also received a Kumaara primer, and can't wait to try it! At the moment, I'm using a little mini of the Korres Silicone-Free primer, but after that I'm going to try out the one Meg sent me! All of these glowing reviews are getting me pretty excited.

Where was momma Kim to chase him off? I think I may be developing Rosacea, or as I like to call it ... perma-blush. Its only on my cheeks, so I kinda dig it, (for now) I never need to buy blush. But I would like to try KUMAARA LUMINESCENT PRIMER just so I can see what its like to not look pinky.

Thanks for the review, I'm gonna have to check this line out, as well as the Eminence Rosacea line.  I have a few Eminence products, and they really are top notch.  I don't have Rosacea, at least not yet, but my Irish/German/Polish skin if very fair and red, and I'm hoping for something the tone down the redness with out having to suffocate my skin with a ton of products.  I also have sensitive skin that breaks out with slicone based products, so I normally avoid primers, but would love to find one that works for me..

These were some fantastic comments!  I laughed out loud at several hysterical comments!  I just love the sense of humor so many of you have!  'I swear if ONE more person says "Got some sun this weekend didn't ya!?" I'm going to rip their colon out through their nose.'  Bluedevilkitty...what a cracked-me-up way to start your blog!  Fabulous!  Tantejoan!  "All because I had the temerity to take a cortisone shot in my spine to relieve pain.  How dare I."  Fabulously written!  Sweetassgal! "Shouldn't he be 400 pounds and covered in boils like we planned God?"  Looooved your visuals!  I just love reading everything!I was one of the lucky ones to have the opportunity to test the kumaara brand luminescent primer too! The tube it comes in is kind of a trip.  The tube with the primer in it is sort of like a toothpaste tube and on the end, after you take off the gold cap, it's like someone stuck a gold perfumed sprayer head on your toothpaste tube!  It just surprised me - the contrast of the two pieces.  It almost makes me wonder if, as the tube gets less and less full, when it gets towards the end I wonder if you can roll it up like a tube of toothpaste so you can eek out every milli-drop of this FABULOUS product!  If you can - let me tell you - you'll want to do that!  The luminescent primer is pretty spectacular!I liked it as soon as I put it on!  Agrimony!  That story about your husband's comment about your makeup...WOW!  If I was this company I'd call you up and have you go on the road with that story and get paid to tell it!  I'd also send you a lifetime supply of their product!  Your story alone would make me want to run out and buy it!  Awesome testimonial!I like this too,  it goes into your skin effortlessly and it does give you a radiance about you.  I still am totally infatuated with my Monistat primer and will probably stick to that, especially since I can...  a. purchase it at several locations close to me and b. I can afford it!  $6.99 v.s. $29.99.I can tell you this, based on the quality of this primer and the eye cream I will be commenting on soon, I would TOTALLY want to experience their entire line!  Q U A L I T Y!!!!

This product sounds awesome! I'll have to see if I can find it where I live. There's a sitcom episode (I think it was Frasier) where the main character kept on encountering people he formerly knew from school or something, but only when he was looking like a hot mess! They all thought he was homeless! Ahhh, that Murphy...SAG: You mentioned that mineral makeup makes you look shiny. How many kinds have you tried? I hated Bare Minerals, and it was partly because of that reason. I use Everyday Minerals (matte formula), and it is not shiny at all. A lot of times, what makes mineral makeup shiny is the BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE. That stuff can also be irritating, and cause itching and massive breakouts. Bare Minerals uses it; it creates a "glow" that makes me look dead. Weird, I know. I found this little write up on bismuth on a random mineral makeup website. Thought some may find it interesting. "What is bismuth oxychloride?

Bismuth oxychloride is a natural ingredient found in the majority of mineral cosmetics. It is the main irritant in some brands of mineral cosmetics. Though a natural by-product, bismuth oxychloride often causes itching, rashes and mild to severe cystic acne. This is extremely unfortunate since many women are attracted to mineral cosmetics due to their reputation for being good for sensitive skin. If you choose a mineral cosmetic that includes bismuth oxychloride it may cause additional irritation. If you have had a reaction to mineral cosmetics in the past it is likely because of the bismuth oxychloride in the product.
Bismuth oxychloride is not an ingredient you find very often in natural circumstances. It is a by-product of copper and lead refining and it can be found on the periodic table too. What may surprise you is that bismuth oxychloride resembles arsenic and antimony chemically. It is also considered a heavy metal. Cosmetically, bismuth oxychloride is considered a pearlizing agent and produces a high shine. In addition, when applied to the skin as a foundation, bismuth oxychloride often has an unnatural glowy finish. Many women find this strange 'glowy' finish produced by bismuth oxychloride unappealing. Bismuth oxychloride also has a very soft, almost slipery feel."Remember, ladies, just because it's mineral makeup, doesn't mean it's good for you. Some people may be able to tolerate this ingredient, but I prefer to stay far away from it. Also, not all mineral makeup contains only minerals. Don't forget to read ingredients.

I cannot wear BE mineral makeup -- whether it's the talc, or the bismuth, whatever.  I do not like it.  What I do like is Laura Mercier's line, but the colors are somewhat limited.  My real favorite is the Youngblood line.  It's soft as silk, the colors are plentiful and very well described to make your choice, even from a web site, practically foolproof.  Best of all, it has a sifter lid that really keeps the product inside the body of the jar, not dumped all over your sink.  I may buy a lot of stuff, but wasteful I am not.

I have very sensitive skin and so far BE doesn't bother me a bit. But I don't use the foundation I use the mineral veil. So maybe I am wearing less product and am less likely to be irritated.Nice review SAG! But I have to tell you that I think that you are gorgeous inside and out!! Your ex is the loser in this situation. I am sure that you looked fab regardless of anything you are worrying about. I know that things like weight gain are relative. And one person's extra ten pounds is as bad as another's twenty. But I have learned to at least try to accept myself as much as possible regardless of my body changes. Because of my many health problems I have had so many changes in my body including a huge weight gain. Of course I am hoping to one day lose it and am starting with a mild regime of walking. But it could take a long time. So I have to be ok with myself and feel fabulous even though I don't fit into the norm of society with my weight. Try to feel good about yourself ladies. Sometimes the changes we want to make will take a long time or may never completely come.  But let's be fabulous in the mean time!!No, I have not tried this primer. But I would love to. I never thought that I would love primer. But I do!! They really can help to smooth or even out a complexion. These are all things that I really need. And a really good primer helps tame my oily skin skin and huge pores. And sometimes I will even wear a primer with not much else on. They can be that good people!! I am always on the search for the perfect one. I would love to try this. But I am even more jazzed to test the Urban Decay one further. I have tried a little sample but I need to test it out further to really decide if it is my favorite!!

Haha! I haven't tried this but I know about redness...I have pretty sensitive skin and my nose sometimes makes me feel like Rudolf. You are right about the SPF though, primers need SPF! We can't use 10 products every time we want to leave the house...

Serisously!  It is weird to add up all I use, both day and night. I would love someone to come out with one night product that does it all, but, I am pretty sure that is one dream that won't be fullfilled, LOL!

Man this sounds like a great product. I have trouble with redness in my cheeks, not rosacea, but still annoying redness. It gets worse with emotions-if I'm happy sad excited or anything, my cheeks get all red. I wonder if this product would work for me? I have oily skin though and have never found a primer or foundation that can control my tzone for more than an hour... *sigh*

Emeliee, you might consider the Proacea, that I mention above. It REALLY does get rid of/reduce redness. I saw a difference in a couple days of using it twice a day, before moisturizer, then it continued to improve for about a month, I hit a plateau, but have maintained the reduced redness using it nightly after cleansing. It is cheap, and works. If you do try it, let me know how you like it.

This sounds like a great product.  I have had a horrible time with roscea, where I always looked like I just came back from a ski trip.  I went and had a facial and made a BIG mistake and bought the products.  They made me look like I was in a constant state of embarrasment.  Then went to my dermatologist and she recommended a drug store product CeraVe for about $12 for 12 oz at CVS or Walgreens.  It is awesome!  I rarely suffer from Rosacea and often get compliments on how great my skin looks.  Cant beat that.

I have redness on my face too, I'm not sure if that's actually rosacea, or if I'm just unlucky and have redness, but someones my boyfriend will be like, "what happened to your skin?!" if I'm not wearing foundation and I want to kill him. He's just being concerned, but it's embarrassing, I guess. Anyway, I haven't actually tried this primer, but if it tones down redness I am all for it. Right now I'm using a Korres primer, it's pretty decent, but I'm not in love.I received a Kumaara concealer from Meg in my package awhile ago and I am loving it. It glides on easily and covers up redness and the dark spots under my eyes. If the primer is as nice as the concealer, I'd definitely buy it.

I love this stuff!  This is the perfect amount of shimmer/illumination for a glow without looking like a creep.  My only problem with this is that I feel like there isn't that much in the container.  I have only been using it for a few weeks and I am almost out.  But I will definitely re-buy this when i do run out!

I hope this is one of the products I will receive in my package coming this week! It is a bummer there is no spf but it's not that big of a hassle to put spf on also. This is a brand that will be new to me but if it really is as amazing as everyone is saying then I have a feeling it will soon be one of my favorite brands. I love the packaging! It's so sophisticated!

I agree with Kristen(kedavis03) the packaging is so sophisticated. Maybe a little too much for me. I'd be afraid of wasting the product as it looks expensive!

ha-his lucky you dont have a voodoo doll of him.mabye he will start sprouting hair out his ears or something-please god.As for the primer, youve made me want it v badly, itd be great over a fake tan.I read a tip lately-that if you want a lighter look with more staying power than a tinted moisturiser to make your own by mixing foundation with primer-its supposed to stay put better in the heat.

Potionprincess - great tip!  I mixed Kumaara's concealer with some primer this weekend and only wore that on my face and it withstood the hot, sticky humidity.  Worked like a charm!

This stuff sounds amazing! I have very pink undertones.. my cheeks always look like I've been out in the sun. And my forehead looks.. about the same. And I get the same comments as you about being out in the sun. I would love to just have even, flawless skintone. I haven't found foundations that really give me that, so maybe I should try a new primer.I never heard of this brand until I came here.. and I'm very intrigued by it now and hopefully try it soon!

Ladies, I finally gave this a try! Meg sent it to me in my points package, but I've been nervous about trying it because it has silicones in it, which have caused me to break out in the past (curse you, Smashbox Photo Finish primer! *shakes fist*). Since I'm on Accutane, I was both hesitant to try Kumaara's primer and excited... I didn't want to mess up my skin, which was clear for the first time in YEARS AND YEARS... but I didn't want to waste it, and now that my skin was nearly acne-proof, shouldn't I give it a try?!Well, after a little over a week of use, I came to some conclusions :)This product gives you a slightly pink iridescent shine. That made me a little worried at first, but it's pretty subtle and not very noticeable under your foundation. Since my skin is very dry, this primer works best when applied after moisturizer and/or sunscreen. It did not break me out. Once I'm off Accutane, I'm not sure I'll be bold enough to try this again though!Helped my makeup go on more smoothly, and didn't slip off during the day.Overall, a very nice product. Worth the $29? Maybe. :) I give it a 4/5.
