SO, YOU THINK YOU CAN'T DANCE? I THINK YOU CAN! AND YOU SHOULD! SPECIAL EDITION PART 1!

exotic
Goddess Granny thinking about life today: it's all moving so quickly and the tasks we set out to achieve everyday are becoming monumental even if they start out small...stress is rampant and relief is tough in this economy as it's harder for many to use retail therapy, take a long spa-day, or to break away from work or family for a few much needed days out of the loop in hopes of feeling "right with the world" again.
Whatever is a girl to DO when it feels like the walls are closing in and like the very core of what makes her "tick" as a female is drying up and withering inside of us because of what we must deal with on a daily basis?

She should dance!

Do we risk forever losing that fabulous female creature who simmers beneath the surface just because we have to go through the motions of what passes for "life" some days in order to survive? Is she buried beneath baggy team t-shirts or covered in Kool-Aid stains? Maybe's she so exhausted from coping with a career that demands, classes or a business that consumes, or a relationship that drains and then she wakes up one day to find that there's nothing at all left for her?

Oh yes there is!

Maybe she's just  sad or feeling bad about herself and needs something extraordinary to jolt her back into feeling anything at all?
It DOES exist!

I'm going to share with you how something rather unconventional helped to "right" many wrongs in my life a few years ago.

I've been where many of you may be now and know how hard it can be to keep that spirit inside alive!

Hear me out and once you understand how much FUN and how FAB this is then, "judgment" goes to the back-burner VERY quickly!

I love men and I love the men here on Meg's but sorry guys, this one's for the girls, Kiss! Maybe you-IF you get very lucky in a roundabout way.Wink

I have no background in dance, no gymnastics, no training of any kind and honestly, I am the furthest thing from graceful or an athlete that probably ever walked and talked. I was also 51 when this all started.
A few years ago life had taken me in other directions and I was burnt out.The deep kind of burnt out that takes your body, mind, and spirit.

I live on a rural ranch and honestly,we make our own "fun" here...it's not like I can just jump in the car and go anywhere or do much easily.
Geographical limitations can be just as challenging as those that are financial or time-related-trust me.

I knew however at that point that unless I found SOMETHING to shake things up a bit, I was going to become yet one more "middle-aged woman" who gave up.We all know the type and I simply refused to go into that mushy-grey-area without a fight! I mean mentally here as well as physically my pretties!

I needed to get serious, to get physical, and to shape up at the risk of my mental sanity and physical well-being.There was no gym for 50 miles BUT I knew I had to do something here at home that might kick start myself again.

I was browsing the web for a "trendy workout routine" although my ass had pretty much been glued to a chair or computer for a couple of years and any "definition" was strictly in my words at that point. One of the first things that popped up was "Poledance Fitness."

Mind you, I'm a product of Catholic school and of a more "inhibited" generation yet for some reason, I clicked on the link. Pandora's Box flew WIDE open at that second, let me tell you!  I ogled, I read, I gasped...I WANTED!

Within 20 minutes or so I had defined my "intentions" and had a chat with Mike, the man who suffers me so well.

Me: "I want a pole and these DVD's..."
Mike:"You want a WHAT Hon?"
Me: "A pole...you know, a stripper pole."
Mike: (now grinning from ear to ear...) "Okay...how much is this gonna' cost me and will it make you happy?"
Me: "Well...if you want me to stop being miserable, you'll understand why I need this."

Order was placed for a set of "instructional DVD's and a shiny chrome pole within minutes. The Fed Ex guy arrived in a couple of days and I think he actually snorted as he delivered my "Lil' Mynx Pole" to my former sewing studio.I just flipped my hair and ignored him, I KNEW something good was in that box! Mike installed the thing for me and I shooed him out the door, locking it behind him: first "rule of pole" is that YOU control not only the movement but also your audience: whether you choose to make it a very personal solitary-experience or a showy spectator-sport is entirely up to you!

I was literally terrified of the damn thing: it was slick, shiny, unforgiving and VERY tall to my way to thinking...what in the HELL was I thinking of to ever believe I could do anything like this?

Here's a visual for you: instructional DVD playing on pc nearby. I have companion book in hand, music in background and am trying to get up the NERVE to spin around the pole WHILE looking at pictures in the book mind you! I fell every day for about 2 weeks UNTIL I just stopped trying so hard Undecided! My bruises were the stuff of legend.

The rest as they say is history and I begin to learn in the immortal words of my girl Mae West that "Anything worth doing is worth doing SLOWLY!"
I took baby steps: I learned how to walk, how to crawl, how to spin and how to land without looking like a new-born giraffe.I told no one what I was learning,I figured it out on my own and found an online community where one could chat with women of all ages and abilities who "understood..." I found a new hobby in downloading music that set my soul on fire and browsed for clothes to dance in that I would never considered before. Little by little I learned that women through the ages have danced to express themselves: to incite and to inspire, to heal and to envoke, and simply because we are all "designed" as women to move in a fluid and seductive way simply by our right of birth no matter what size, shape, or age we might be!

I danced...and little by little I started to notice REMARKABLE changes physically, mentally, and emotionally. :)
Part 2 to follow...

Have any of you tried any of these dance classes or dvd's? Sounds like some pole is super good for the soul!

Ok-you are just way too hot! Wow! What a great write-up. I can't wait to read part two. I think that it's really great that you are sharing this with the women in this community. Even if they aren't able to run out and get a pole they may still find a creative outlet in dance that does the body and the soul good. I myself am not a natural dancer. I am a complete klutz. So years ago when I was cast to be a dancer in the musical Fame I about died with the fear of embarrassment. I was not cast for my dancing skills. It was a comedic role that unfortunately had to include dance. So I had to work tremendously hard to learn how to move. I had to even take ballet classes in addition to strenuous rehearsals with a choreographer. It was one of the most difficult things that I have ever done in my life. Yes, I am that uncoordinated! But I have to tell you that I probably never felt more fit and alive in my life. Dancing put me in the best shape I had ever been in. And I just felt so proud of myself. It was such a freeing feeling. I had truly kind of forgotten how great it made me feel. Because of a myriad of health problems including a bum thyroid I am really out of shape and have gained way too much weight. I am not sure if it is possible to ever completely get back to where I once was. But maybe I should try some type of dancing again to get into some sort of shape. And really just to feel great as well. Thanks MSJRED!! Maybe you will help Kellie to get her groove back!!!

I saw this on The Girls Next Door and wanted to try it. I don't have anywhere to put a pole though and I'm not comfortable going to a class. I do have a dvd sitting on my desk at home for bellydancing. Yes I'm still working up the nerve to do that as well. I remember when I was 15 or 16 and all I did was dance around my room. I was in the best shape of my life at that time. I do have to agree with the fact that danicing keeps you in shape. Time for me to gett my ass off the couch and put that dvd to work. :)

Oh, I am jealous.  I am a fitness instructor, but pole dancing is not in my reperatoire!  And I worry that if I get one my lab is just going to think it's an indoor peeing place!  And I don't want anyone to see me.  I do love to dance.  I have heard amazing things about pole dancing.  I just think I would have to be incredibly drunk and then I would wake up with a hangover AND a bruised and bloody body.  No, I can't see myself doing it, but all of you divas without my hang-ups, do a twirl for me!

Oh, baby!  I have been fascinated by this ever since I first heard you were doing it.  And the web site is so inviting.  The only thing holding me back is a) I live in a closet -- that is, a tiny, one room apartment with zero room to swing a cat (not that I would) much less swing me, b) my recent knee surgery makes me shy away from things that will bruise me, further and 3) I have no equilibrium -- ever since a childhood illness knocked out my middle ear, balance is not a friend of mine.  I fall off low balance beams.  I climb up anything, usually, although with this knee now, not so much, but I cannot get down anything without a banister or the aid of a friend's strong arm.So, dear, I will picture you, entranced, and envy you, totally, and then look for a class in NYC with accommodation for decrepit ones wishing to channel their inner goddesses.  In the meantime, you rock!

Oh man I have wanted some of those "strip fitness" DVDs and a pole for SO LONG. However, in my crummy little apartment there is no room for a pole! My husband and I are looking to rent a house in November and THEN is the time to strike! Since I couldn't have my pole I settled for a belly dancing video. Oh man is it fun. It's a hell of a workout too ladies and I just feel SO damn sexy when I do it. The DVD I have talks about how belly dancing is all about the art of seduction and for some reason it's just so sensual. It's sexy in a very different way from stripping. Not that stripping isn't sexy as hell too, it's just different! Think sexy, smoky, steamy, and sultry. The bad thing is belly dancing requires a ton of movement and there's very little room for that either! Stupid tiny apartments stifling my creativity!I compromise by putting on my favorite stripper/sexy songs and just dancing all over my apartment when my husband is gone. I'm just too self conscious to let it all out when he can see!

Bravo! This sounds like so much fun! I've had an interest in it, but have never followed through with it. I studied dance (ballet, jazz, modern, etc.) for years, but have never seen myself as the "sexy type". It's funny, when I go out with my friends, they all expect me to be able to tear it up on the dancefloor. I have to remind them that I doubt that everyone will be whooping it up over my pirouettes and jetes! There's a studio nearby that teaches striptease and pole dancing. I've always wanted to drop by for a class, but haven't been able to work myself up to it. Maybe these videos are the answer to my quandry! Thanks so much, Goddess!

Okay--you look amazing (whew)--what a cool piece!  For those of you who think you can't dance, you CAN (unless you are injured--Joan, so glad you're not considering this right now)!  There's a quote I love which I can't recall in total right now, but it says, "Dance as if no one is watching."  You have nothing to lose, everything to gain.  Think back to the flick "Dirty Dancing."  Patrick Swayze tells Jennifer Grey to feel the music and puts his hand to his heart, mimicking the beat.  Only then can you move.  I was trained in ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance long, long ago, and that was drummed into me--let it permeate your being.  Free your pelvis, Richard-Gere style.  Relax.  You don't need a pole, but it's definitely helpful.  Anything can become dance.  I love my stationery bike.  I put tunes with great beats on my MP3 player, close my eyes, darken the room, and I am completely liberated.  When I feel tired, a song with another rhythm comes on and I think, "Okay, I do just one more."  By the time I'm done, I've done twenty miles and the endorphins are actually addictive.  My husband and I aren't very fond of the foul rap out there, but at the end of a movie we watched recently, there was an extended song much like "No Diggity."  I just took off all around the living room with moves to rival Usher, into the dining room.  He said, "Do I know you?"  My reply, "You're seeing the 'old me' again.  I am working off the stress of pain and doctors and Cleveland Clinic and I feel like the person I was again."  I think I scared him half to death, but "I've got the music in me."

I'll behave, Gigi, I promise, but no one can stop me from dancing while seated in my office chair -- it always makes my assistant giggle when she comes in early, before the office officially opens, to find me, earphones on, bopping away to my iPod -- the soundtrack to 'Love Actually" is a favorite chair-dancing album.  From the hips up, I am a great dancer, and if this knee ever behaves, I invite our NYC contingent to find a good pole class and I'll be there!

I have wanted to this for so long. To be honest I would rather buy a dvd and do it in my own home without everyone watching. Then when I perfect it I could share the moves with my boyfriend. We, and I'm sure everywhere else has pole dancing parties and lessons. I was invited to one once with my girlfriends but passed because of my insecurity. I know woman who do this have amazing strength. They say it is a amazing work out. Does anyone know if they make poles that can be pushed down to hide? I wouldn't want my kids seeing this and sharing with their friends. Could you imagine? mjsred love your story! It's great self awareness to acknowledge what it is that makes you happy and you are passionate about. Keep it up and let us know how it goes. Artcandy

I was a stripper for 11 years, but I never mastered pole dancing.  The club that I worked at for the majority of the time did not have one, and every time I got an opportunity to try one at another club I realized how difficult they are.  Seriously they are no joke, I have taken ballet, jazz, modern and I danced in front of a packed room of strangers-no problem.  Somehow the pole moves were more than I could manage to pickup in an afternoon.  Good for you Goddess Granny!  The dance moves that all strippers know by heart are not only great for your legs, but totally fun to do.  Goddess Granny you look fantastic in that picture!  I am eagerly awaiting the conclusion to this piece.  Please keep us posted!  For those of you who do not want to invest in a pole there are other options, such as Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease: Vegas Strip, as well as four other videos she has in this line.  I found these at Netflix, but I'm sure you could just order them online.

Oh Goddess...I am blown away yet again by you! I gotta tell you...I think I need a GG intervention. I am SO envious of your smokin' hot persona! That photo...Holy Crap! You are just so voluptuous! You are going to be like Sophia Loren! It's clear that even as you age; you'll still make the men all pause when you enter a room.  WOW!  I bet men stop talking whenever you walk by and after you pass them, they probably say "HOLY SHIT! I WANT SOME OF THAT!"  LOL!  You definitely are the hot mom!
On the other spectrum this 61 year old woman just completed 10 consecutive happy-fun-filled vacation days with my husband's brothers and sister (10 solid days) of eating and eating and eating..the talk was always about what will we be eating next! I don't think in those 10 days that we ate any fruit or veggies and if I wasn't already lamenting the state of my physique...this past 10 days took me over the top.  Men likes piles of food and there always has to be a lot of MEAT involved. You know you tell yourself “What the heck...I'm on vacation.”
I have really been aging quickly in the last few years and it's really hard on me. I call what's happening to my body “Shape Shifting”. I used to be like you, a ball of fire and I danced like there was no tomorrow for years! I couldn't dance enough! A billion years ago I even danced in a commercial where I was carrying my radio up on my shoulders and leading a huge following of dancers for something as we danced around a local lake. I had a fun little body and I just loved to show it off and dance! I even used to dance when I ironed my dad's shirts as a kid!
Now I hardly ever dance and I have had surgery on my knees a couple of times and I can't squat down without a lot of pain or damage happening or things moving around inside my knees. I used to wear headphones and dance around the house and dance as I did my chores and the minute I heard music, no matter where I was, I would immediately start gyrating my body and it was almost impossible to NOT dance!
I cannot tell you enough how I envy you and your pole dancing! That is something I would have loved to do in a heartbeat! I feel so stuck and most of the moves would hurt for me to do. I put on even more weight over the 10 day eating marathon we just completed and for months (maybe over a year actually) now I have stopped lifting weights, walking (my favorite thing to do) or doing any kind of videos. I can hardly stand to look in the mirror anymore – my former cute shape has left the building. I think I have given up.
I feel bad saying this but GG...I busted out crying when I read your review today...I felt like I'm so past any exciting movement like that! At the same time, I was elated to read everything you wrote! I saw an old me in you and I wished I was still as vibrant as you are. Getting old is the hardest thing I have ever done and I don't know how to accept it or do it very well. I need to get motivated again. I'm on my 2nd week of vacation and I told myself, I'm going to walk very day, cleanse my body, and get out my weights that are dust covered under the couch in the basement. (At least I remember where they are.) I told my husband when he comes home today I'll have died my hair red (after seeing your WOW photo today!). He gave me the look which told me...”Don't go messing with your hair.”. So I won't but I have to at least do something! I threw out the last cupcake (instead of shoving it in my mouth) from the 10 day eat-a-thon we were on this morning – it's a start.
I used to be sexy as hell like you too. I miss those days. I'm forever telling my husband that I'm just about gone; the me I knew for so many years (the outside of me). I honestly don't know what to do with the me that is here now, how to dress her, how to wear her hair, how to be comfortable in the skin and body of the woman I am now. When you go for so many years being a certain way and then your body isn't the same and just about everything about you changes except your eyes...they are the one thing on you that doesn't change...anyway...I miss the me that was so full of life like you! You keep going GG and keep inspiring all women to express themselves and to let out the parts of them that long to undulate and feel sensual! I'm sorry this was not my usual funny writing day; I know everybody has written about their feelings on Meg's and today your wonderful inspiring pole dancing just hit a spot of longing in me for the way I was. I am going to go put on my headphones now and put on some music that makes me want to dance and then reach under the couch and get out my weights and DO SOMETHING today to bring back my young fun spirit!  Man...when I was younger I used to be SO good at moving my body!  Without question; if you are comfortable enough with your body to move like a stripper, YOU DO GET SO MUCH CONFIDENCE!  If you share that kind of movement with the man you are with...believe me...they never forget how you move!   When I was young, I pretty much used guys as my pole to dance on! LOL! (That's something our goddess would say for sure!)  I love that girl! For all of you that can still move...DO IT! Appreciate every single move you can make with your body and be like a little kid and say “LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!!!!”  I still have a couple of moves...I better go try and see if I can do them right now!

Jeanasina!

Jeanasina, that took a lot of courage to write in such a beautiful honest manner.  I love that we can come here and really be ourselves.  All that you long for is still right inside of you.   Do not give up, you are beautiful and vibrant.  Whatever can be put on can be taken right. back. off. Yes, it takes time, commitment, and baby steps but so what?  WTF, you are worth that and more! So what if you aren't that stereo carrying chick dancing around the lake.  You are amazing, strong and beautiful right now. I felt just like you after the birth of my first daughter.  A 65 freakin pound weight gain ain't for sissys!  Sure, I lost it all (eventually) but it took TIME. Be patient with your beautiful self, and know that you are loved.   Whenever I show my friends and family pictures of all of you (my home girls!) everyone always has something amazing to say about each one of you and they always comment on how young and beautiful you (jeanasina) are.

Jeana Honey...I have BEEN where you say you are beautiful girl!!!It's why I started all this in the first place and trust me,I will help you get that mojo of confidence back if it's at all in my power. You are just tired and burnt out and probably just need some "me time" in a hot bath after all those men (who DO need food constantly!) and you just need to get those girly-juices going again and I mean that in THE nicest way! Wish I was closer,I'd be there asap and we'd get to work fixing' your "girl" up!!!You have already said "you will start today..." and I mentioned that it's all about those babysteps!  It's always lovely to be validated in a man's eyes and see that power we posess reflected back at us...but girl?I do this ALL for me! Mike's walked in on a few moves or when I learned something SUPER-COOL,I'd go trotting out to the workshop in my 6" heels and beg him to come and "check THIS out" but he knows that when I unleash this power that it's for my own pleasure and benefits.:)Start small and I/we promise to hold your hand every step of the way!!!Now dry those tears and DANCE my darlin' girl!!! LOVE!!!

Lovely inside and out Stylemama...you are always so full of heart.   When I had my children I gained 50 pounds with my first and 60 with my second child.  It took a hell of a lot of work to get it off, the thing back then that really worked for me was my doctor saying "You'll never be back to your old weight again so you better get used to it!"  Back then, I said the equivalent of "@##!@#!!"! and I went to town and got myself back.  I had a lot of stamina then and energy too. I was a moving machine! It's so much harder now especially since my metabolism has packed all it's bags and moved to another location, for good, apparently!  Thanks you giant sweetie on a stick!  You always make things better.  You are like the mom waiting with open arms when her child gets a scrape or cut and comes running and I just know you embrace your child and say "Let me look at that troubling spot..." and then you no doubt administer kisses and assurances and fix everything right up and then beam some more of your personal sunshine down and the child leaves you skipping and happy once again!  You ARE SO AWESOME!  Alright lady...I'm thinking 1-800-P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E and going forward.  and yes...it did take a little courage to write that but so many women have written the things they are honestly feeling and going through and today I guess was my day.  I really have been feeling like I'm just about lost.  My personality is still in there but I have to find a way to make peace with all the changes on the outside of me.  More than anything I think it would help if I felt healthier and in better shape.  We eat a lot of packaged food because it's more affordable and that I know does nothing good.  A girl I work with told me I should buy this book called "Eat for Your Blood Type" and she is a really healthy, slim, vivacious woman so I'm going to go check it out.  The one thing it said that for my Blood Type which is A ... is that I pretty much should be a Vegetarian which is so the oppositive of everything I eat especially since I got in my relationship with my husband in the past 5 years.  WOW!  There's an eye opener!  I used to just eat chicken and fish and veggies galore and fruit until I met my Harley man!  HOLY SMOKES!  I guess I should look into that huh?! That's when I started gaining weight!   I love you dear woman!  You made me smile today Style Mama!  Goddess G...just looked at your photo again...I think I should print that out and make a pin out of it like mom's do and wear it as a symbol of what I'd like to feel!  SIZZLING WOMAN!  Maybe I'll buy that book and try it and see if it makes a difference and then do a review on it!  HOLY INSPIRATION MOMENT!  I'm off to the bookstore...

Ok last thing...I DO wish you both lived by me - I could really use the inspiration!  The two of you would be like two beams of light workin' your magic making me dance for sure! I wish I never had to go back to work (dying to retire) I have been working since 1966, but I really wanted to at least go back next week - looking fabulous and feeling like I got a new start to a healthier way of living.  I TOTALLY would look forward to your motivation!  Ok another revelation...I have a large rack of clothes in the basement that are for work and that I can't fit into any longer...I'm down to about 3 outfits that I despise wearing because they are basically LARGE outfits that cover shit and wearing any of that stuff makes me even more discouraged and invisible. Thanks for listening and caring.  Dude...I'm sounding like Mopey Manerva.  I'm stepping away from the computer and going to go find a few moments of healthy living!  Hmmmm, I just noticed out the window that I have a large bird feeder on a tall pole outside in the back yard...I wonder if the neighbors would consider it lewd behavior if I tried some moves on that pole?  LOL!  I can only imagine what the birds would think..."Run for your lives!  The human is molting!"

There you go Jeanasina! You just started another movement, pole dancing with your bird feeder's pole, or whatever pole you happen to be near, right?  You and GG both do the same exact thing for me.  Love you girls! In all seriousness, I love that pole dancing, is about personal pleasure.  You choose if there even is an audience.  I love that strong, sexy feeling that comes from being physically strong and vibrant. Gotta get my ass to the gym ladies!

I would love to even do hip hop dancing.... I'm a terrible dancer in real life, and am not comfortable at all. I would love to do it to increase my confidence when I'm out shakin' what my momma gave me, and it seems like it'd be a really fun workout! [But even if it weren't pole dancing, I think I'd want to practice where no one could see me...] I'm so excited for part 2...

OK Jeanasina...I was thinking about you A LOT last night.  I couldn't get you and your words off my mind.  So here's what I feel I need to say to you.#1 - You are 27 years older than me and I look at you every day and go WOW...I hope I look that good and have that kind of light in my life when I'm her age.  You should know that while you are looking around admiring other women and all of their fabulousness that we are looking at you with equal admiration.#2 - We are all in a constant state of change no matter what our age.  At 34 I'm realizing I no longer look like that fresh faced college co-ed that could get a date at the snap of my fingers.  Sometimes it makes me sad...then I realize how much HAPPIER I am at this stage of my life.  Overweight and all.#3 - Its easy to gain weight when you are in a loving relationship.  My hubby loves me now just as much as when I was thin.  So don't be too hard on yourself about that. It means you are in a comfy and stable relationship.  That said...if you are unhappy the only one that can change it is you.  I'm currently on the weight loss road and I do what I refer to as the "perimeter" diet.  I stick to the perimeter of the grocery store eating only fresh fruits, veggies, meats and grains.  Everything in the center aisles is just FATTENING!  Its working and I'm feeling much better.#4 - I know what its like to feel like you are "losing" the me you used to know.  I'm not even recognizable to myself.  Sometimes its hard to look in the mirror and see how much I've changed and how different I've become. Its really hard when I see someone from my hometown who doesn't even recognize me anymore.  I think they expect me to stay the same thin, blonde, beauty queen type forever.  But I know that I've become an even better person on the inside as is evidenced by my family and friends.  You're Harley man married you for the light on the inside...not for the changes on the outside.  I just want you to know that at 16, 34 or 61 we all experience these "changes" and have trouble dealing with them.  I remember freaking out at 17 when I hit 100 pounds!  WOW!  That's perspective.  Just know we love you, your Harley man loves you, and we think you are PRETTTY DAMN GREAT!

Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art.

Angie-- that is a fabulous quote. I'm only 23, but am starting to think about what I can do to keep looking good when I get older. People are always saying, oh don't worry about it you'll look 40 when you're 60--but you have to take care of yourself!! And you're one SMOKIN' HOT lady! What other tips can you give me so I can look like you?Jeanasina--gal, you're gorgeous :) Don't be too hard on yourself!

Damn!  Seriously, there is no way you are a grandmother.  I don't believe it.  You totally have that smirk, the "I know that I've got it and I know I can work it!" smirk.  Rock on!
I would totally try this.  It looks like such fun swinging around and flipping and such!  But at this point, I don't think I could lift myself up like that.  But I'm hitting the gym 3x a week and working on that.  Belly dancing looks fun too.  I'm the same way as these other ladies on here: I don't have the courage to go to a class!  I'd definitely bellydance, but I don't have the confidence to try a class and I don't have the personal space to do it at home.  I think that next year, I am going to try both of these.
Can't wait for part 2!

There is a studio in my area that teaches pole dancing, Ive drove by their place, browsed their website plenty of times and got a request to friend them on myspace, Im sure they are all nice ladies and I would LOVE to try it but I'm so scared and super self conscious to even attempt it, ahh I wish I wasn't! I didn't even consider buying a pole and dvd but it sounds like a better idea, Im so adding it to my wishlist!

I finally got the courage up to try my belly dancing dvd last night. OMG. My abs are on fire today! I do have to say that it was one of the funnest things I've done. The woman on the dvd is so fit and some of the moves she does were way too advanced for me. (I had to quit during some of them while she continued on) My goal to one day (year? lol) be able to keep up with her. I don't think it will be an everyday work out but I will do it at least twice a week.

Great post. You rock Msjred and you are really HOT. I've never tried poll dancing but I'm sure my hubby would like me to, ha ha.... A couple years ago I was looking in to it for my cousins bachelorette and then some of the girls weren't really into it and didn't have the money, since we were doing restaurant and clubbing. I was really bummed, I wanted to try. :) I've done a lot of dancing in my younger days, Ballet jazz and love it. Your right you can just express yourself and just be free.... My work is doing Zoomba dancing once a week. This lady comes in to give classes so I think I will try next week. Thanks for getting me inspired to try something new. :)

I've been interested in trying pole dancing for so long now, but I'm too chicken to do so! My fiance wouldn't care (I've joked (and been serious) about getting one before and he seemed happy at the prospect), but I guess I'm just worried of what my mom or his parents would say when they come to the house and see it. Obviously I'm an adult and it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks about what I do in my own home, but it's still something in the back of my mind I guess. Then again that might also just be part of my self consciousness looking for excuses as to why not to do it. I struggle with body image issues, something like this may be just what I need to finally become comfortable in my own skin. You've definitely inspired me to look into it a bit more and reconsider it again though! I can't wait to go read part 2 now! :)
