Meg here! I sometimes wish I was alive in the late 1930's. I love having my hair in curls and I'm never out of my heels (ever). I love hats and gloves and dressy dresses and RED LIPSTICK!
I wanted to share with you my favorite Reds. This company Cosmoholic is so amazing! We reviewed them here to raves! And they make my most favorite 100% go to red called "Rockstar Red" It is so sexy! It's so long lasting and shiny and I feel instant "Movie Star" with my "Rock Star Red." I've had friends borrow it from me and they always write down the companies name and want to know where to get it! So there's my pick for best MEG RED LIPS-COSMOHOLIC ROCKSTAR RED
I'm also pretty fond of the Red nails! When I want my talons to scream "Hello WORLD!" or in this case "Hello, Mister Bartender!" You can't go wrong shimmying up to the Nail Tini Bar and ordering up a Bloody Mary!
They call it a "classic, true red" and it is all that and no chipping! My friend Lois agrees with me 100%! This is a real red that every women should have a shade of! MEG RED NAILS-NAITINI BLOODY MARY
Blue eyeshadow was usually always something I stayed away from, especially blue eyeliner. This was not always the case. In 8th grade I really liked to rock out the electric blue eye pencils and shimmery Maybelline robin egg blue shadow. Then I would artfully pair it with a baby pink sparkly lipgloss from Wet-n-Wild.
Thank the lord that I have grown up and so has my eyemake-up! We haven't even reviewed it on here yet-in the coming weeks but it should not surprise you that urban decay has done it again! Just released for fall their new Ink For Eyes! It is easier on the eyes then a pencil and more forgiving then a liquid. I am wearing a sultry midnight blue perfect for day or night called "Binge" I think these Ink For Eyes are going to end up with another cult following for UD. I am a huge fan! Much deserved-can't wait until that review goes up!

Meg, you sent me some of UD Ink for Eyes in my package I received today. I am sooo excited to test it out. It looks pretty fab. I also used to do the baby blue/light pink gloss combo in jr. high. It's so embarrassing to think about now, haha..I later moved on to an "emo" type look with waaay too much black eyeliner and pink hair. I don't have a lot planned for tomorrow. My boyfriend works tonight, so I'm just relaxing at home. Tomorrow we are spending the day with my parents and I think we're going to a flea market in the morning. Exciting stuff :P. Then we're going to go to watch fireworks and I have a date with some margaritas afterwards.Have a great holiday and thanks again for the package. Totally amazing :)
Great write up Meg! All of the suggestions sound uber-fabulous! I am going to check some of them out. But I must say that the UD INK FOR EYES looks to die for!! I am really excited to check this out. Maybe you should have been born in a different time.Also I forgot to add my plans. Unfortunately, I have to write a paper. But Sunday I will get to watch fireworks with my family on Lake Erie. Fireworks over the water are so beautiful! And I think that we are picnicking to celebrate my Husband, Dad, and Grandma for their birthdays. Yeah!
Omg, I just checked it out via the link... the case is adorable! (I am such a sucker for packaging)... I love cream eyeliners, and it takes me a little longer to put on than pencil, but I just love it. Stila Smudgepots have been my favorite so far, but I hope to give the UD one a try soon. The only hesitation I have about it is the long strip instead of a pot--more surface area for it to dry out possibly? I haven't had any problems with my smudgepots, but have heard many ladies on other forums gripe about them drying out quickly. My plans: Today is beauty prep! I might paint my nails red? I'm not much of a red nail polish sort of girl so I'm working up to it :P I'm planning on slathering on some sunless tanner (Jergens). Tomorrow I'm going hiking and then to a Blues Festival for some fireworks and fun! Hope all of my fellow Megettes also have a lovely and safe holiday weekend, esp Meg!!

I have to laugh on the blue eyeshadow. I used to use the old Max Factor gloss for eyes - does anyone remember this? In the yellow pot, with a white lid with a flower on it? It went on bright and glossy and looked like plastic on your lid. Yes, I was some kind of hot with it on. So blues went bye bye for me too. Meg sent me the Ink for Eyes in Binge in my Most Fab Gift. The case is gorgeous. Now, I love me some Urban Decay. I have been using and loving the 24/7 liners, which are awesome. I put the I4E on this morning, Now, I wouldn't normally go with blue, since my eyes are green, but, the Binge does something amazing. This is a pretty impressive liner. When I am angry my eyes are vivid green, and I can sort of replicate that with some plums and all, but, the green they look like now, (wearing it today, LOL) is a very interesting, deep olive/sage color. And overall a softer defined eye than my usual black. And it does look good with the black mascara I am wearing (Benefit's Bad Girl). My shadow is Clinique's Touch Base for Eyes in Buff Lightening. Thanks so much for sending this, Meg. It is so thrilling to try this early. I know this is going to be my new favorite liner. I, too, am a huge fan of Stila's Smudgepots, which are great. But, I have to say, I think I might just like the I4Es better! And, Bluedevilkitty, I know what you mean on the drying out. I have heard that on the Smudgepots, but, haven't had that problem. I think the I4Es case closes tight enough that it might not be an issue here. And speaking of the case, did I mention how pretty it is. This is just one of those things you will take joy in the totality of it's beauty, the case and the liner. And I like the brush. This is so perfect to have the brush with it, and have the brush be a good one.Red. I love Red. There's no subsititute for red. On my lips. I normally just wear clear nail polish. Although, I don't know, I maybe coming back into a colored nail period. For some reason I have always liked colored polish on my tootsies better than my hands. <sigh>As to lips, my favorites of the moment are Sephora's Maniac in Number 10, and BE Buxom Gloss in Brandy - a clear red. But, I also was wearing a lot of Vanessa, also Buxom Gloss, last fall and winter. The Rockstar Red does look really nice. I may have to give that a go. This all reminds me of a quote I love - ""lipstick makes us girls, red lipstick makes us women". I wish I could recall where I first heard that, it was in a book, and, alas, Google isn't finding it. Since I can't wear an orange red, I go for the blue reds. My picks: for lips, Avon Ultra Rich 24K in Ruby Gold; nails are going to be Essie in Who's she red; and eyes lined in Jane midnight blue, dusted with Ulta's very light shade of blue blended to not look silly and Jane's dark blue mascara.For fun, we are heading to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver and then hitting an organic farmers market and another Arts Festival in Colorado Springs the next day. Weather is suppose to be perfect which it usually is 325 days a year.

In my entire life, I have never ever had red lipstick on my own personal lips. But I am getting tempted now. Meg, I'm glad you use your powers for good instead of evil... otherwise the world would be in such big trouble! I am also looking forward to trying the UD ink for eyes. Sounds like another winner from UD. Could it possibly be better than the 24/7 eye pencils? Happy 4th, y'all! Dinner with friends tonight, BBQ tomorrow. UD and Too Faced are two of my favorite lines. I love Too Faced's eye shadow duos (I have Lovey Dovey & Totally Toasted), they're great quality shadows. I can't wait to give the new UD liners a try, they sound wonderful. That Rockstar Red lipstick sounds awesome, I may have to get one...As for the weekend, I work tonight and tomorrow night, so I'll be missing out on the fireworks (so sad). However, I'm going to visit family soon, and I'll be in town for the fireworks there, which is wonderful because there is nothing like watching them from Lake Michigan. I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!
In seventh grade, my BF Jodi and I chose a lovely shade of mint green eyeliner to accent our brown eyes. I can still visualize that little green pencil, it had a sort of metallic look to it. OH, the things a teenage girls comes up with.These are great suggestions Meg. I have been looking for the perfect red polish, thanks! We are going to BBQ baby back ribs and hang by the pool. I have fond memories of blue eyeliner and mascara - back in the day it was the pinnacle of fashion! I really like the Lipstick Queen lipsticks, and they have some great shades of red. Heading to see friends tomorrow for BBQ and fireworks. Happy 4th of July!
Meg, I bought Rock Star Red immediately! I just know I am going to love it. Thanks for such a great review, perfect for getting us all jazzed for those 4th of July parties. I am headed to a party on an island off the coast of Rhode Island. Fifty or so friends are all sailing there for the weekend. A big fire on the beach, lots of drinks (Champagne for me) and delicious seafood. The best part: no one has to drive home, just crash on the boat and off to the beach the next morning. Luckily I was able to control myself and I just bought the lipstick, otherwise I would've gone on to buy everything on your list. They sound like fantastic products, especially the Era Glaze Shimmer. That's next on my list. Great review and happy 4th!

Of all the parts on my body that could rock out the color red, it's my TOENAILS that I just LOVE to see bright red on! I'm in dire need of a professional pedicure! Any of you lovelies out there want to come over and make my 4th of July seem more exciting by getting my toes to look like brilliant sparklers! I'm begging you here! My toesnails are a travesty! As to what I have planned for the weekend!??? Currently my husband and I are entertaining 3 of his siblings all here from California! Lots of testosterone in the Jeanasina house! I haven't had makeup on for about 6 days now! No TIME!!! It's been go go go! They are all seeing me RAW! We live in a little house (like the nursery rhyme about the old woman who lived in a shoe). For SURE, we have so many relatives visiting that little Jeansina doesn't know what to do! People are sleeping everywhere and my home is total chaos! I usually like everything to look cute and everything has it's place! HAHAHAHA NOT THESE DAYS! My house looks like the gym after graduation party overnighters! All it's missing is toilet paper hung from the rafters! It's teaching me to learn to relax and just go with the flow! People are sleeping anywhere there is a flat surface! And every day is about EATING! I think I have put on 8-10 pounds since they got here! - relatives like their food man! None of my clothes fit any longer! I eat because we eat constantly and then I eat because I'm completely stressed about having all these people here 24/7 and I have no space! Our teeny bathroom has like 17 towels draped all over the place because we only have 2 towels racks! Tomorrow is a huge spankin' relative extravaganza barbeque etc. in our yard! MORE RELATIVES will be swarming the house. I haven't had time to have a secret 'safe room' built in our little house, there's no place for me to hide!!!... so I will be forced to participate in all the activities! These are ALL my husbands relatives - I'm all alone here in a sea of Harleyman's family. I have to go get ready now...I have been practicing singing this song for tomorrow's festivities..."Getting to know you, getting to know all about you....getting to like you, getting to hope you like meeeeeeeeeeeeeee." Somebody kill me! LOL! Again, my plea...can somebody please provide a red polished pedicure for me? Last time one of my Harley man's cousins came over she had perfect red toenails with dainty little white daisies painted on her big toes. I practically weeped when I looked at her toes and then at my toes which clearly looked like they had either been done by a blind person or a little child. Travesty! You're even built like that minx in the champagne glass...:)Red lippy was my "trademark" for years...I adore the Cosmoholic shade and also the reds of Julie Hewitt and Besame.For the past few years though,probably because my hair's now straighter,I've been doing a black-smudgy eye and beautiful beigy-pink lips (Diane Brill gloss or Beaute's are the BEST!) and am very excited to try the new UD "ink"...however I'm pulling out my "Rockstar" red and smoochin' up Mike this weekend in your honor,LOL! I adore Essie's "Fishnets" red polish and cannot wait for cooler weather again to dip my brush back into those deep bloody-red colors of polish! If everything in my life was red,black,and silver (instead of blue...) I'd be a happy girl! :) I cannot "do" blue eyeshadow but navy is a fav of mine...I use Two Faced Duo in "Ooh and Ahh",sparkly black and THE longest-lasting,sparkliest silver ever a LOT! :)Dying to try Classified and will order up this weekend: we're laying low it's going to be well over 100 degrees here and honestly I just cant' take the heat,LOL! :)I'm hangin' with my 2 fav men,Mike and my new Mac...both entertain me nicely while the AC blasts away...we'll be traveling at the end of the month so we're having that "staycation" for the 4th and it will be lovely!Declined many invites and we're choosing to snooze-in and relax! Meg, Ive been rocking the Rockstar Red ever since the first review, plus I love the Cosmoholic gold, which I use to give some extra oomph (to use a 30s word, dollink) for my more pedestrian tube lipsticks. Yummy. Oh, and I wore the UD ink all day long today with nary a bleed or smear. That's some major tool for the eye box. Fabulous with a little Cat eyeshadow, topped off with that amazing orange sherbet-colored lip duo in the cunning little package. The top snaps off to line your lips, then pops back to let the gloss tak over for the big finish. No sticky lips, just smoochable lips. Love it, and love you!
I'm with you, Meg. Wet'n'wild was good to us all back in the day. I used to sneak and buy their 99cent Nail polishes at the grocery store when my mom was in the laundry detergent aisle.

I never leave the house without my tube of New York Apple lipstick by M.A.C. Its not a true red, but its toned down and sparkly; good for everyday. Its my signature color and I love it. When I'm feeling bold, I do go for the M.A.C. Red, and thankfully, I can pull off the bright red lips. I also love An Affair in the Square nail polish by O.P.I., although I do plan to try your Bloody Mary by Nailtini! I plan to attend our local county fair with family & friends this 4th of July! I feel like an anachronism as well. I wish it were 1950, shopping and walking down Fifth Avenue in New York with a beautiful hat, dress, immaculate white gloves, purse, heels, and sensuous, all-female red lips. Life must have been so gracious . . . The UD eye ink is nothing short of a miracle. It glides on easily, is able to manage, and has a dual-sided brush. Today I decided to "smolder" for my visit to the doctor (I have no idea why). He did say, "Looks like you're feeling better." (NOT--it's called makeup!) Blue and green eyeshadow were must-have's growing up, but the subdued shades have revised these and made them wearable again. Thanks for the trip down Fantasy Lane, Meg!
I have the same love for pin-up style kind of stuff.Speaking about blue eyeshadow, I don't really think blue suits me but yesterday I had this uncontrolable crave for wearing blue eyeshadow. I came up with a bluish-slate grey smokey eye that satisfied my crave for blue and didn't look like I was back in the 80's :)
Ahh to live in the 1930's. The women just looked plain classy! Reminds me of my grandmother (woman of the 1930's), she still wore her bright red lipstick and her hair in pin curls til the day she died in the 1980's. As for me, I love to rock the bright red polish on my toes in the summertime (usually Opi or Essie) Makes me feel so girly! And, I don't leave home without my bronzer. Currently hooked on Physician's Formula Organic Wear.I am totally going to check out UD's Ink for Eyes! Sounds fabulous. Urban Decay has never failed me.

Poppy King has a selection of matte "red" lipsticks and if the matte red is too much she also has a red lip-tint. I don't care for the way I look with red lipstick but the the red tint is very subtle and very sexy...(hubby likes it!)hope you all have a great 4th of July
Gem, I envy you your RI fireworks. I used to spend Memorial Day weekends in Little Compton, gardening and sitting on the beach (covered up, natch.)
I spent my 4th working, which was fine, I actually love work. My assistant and I both worked, and we had some awesome bonding time! As I was watching people walk by, and in and out, I had to wonder why, why, why do otherwise well-dressed people think that those ugly teva sandals go with everything?! Because they SO don't!!
Teva's and Croc's are the same foul. Not that there is anything wrong with wearing them. Just wear them with the RIGHT outfit!

Oh goodness - I love the peacock on the package of the UD I4E. I want it just for the pretty peacock package. I wish the colors were a bit brighter though, but that may just be my screen setting (it's nearly impossible to get a true color match on a computer you know). If it's a little brighter than it's showing up now, then I can't wait for the review to convince me to get it!
Thanks a million for the recommendation on the reds! I would love to get a bright, Coca-Cola can red or at least a Santa red lipstick, but the one I have is more cranberry than red red.

I was crazy about blue eyeshadow and red lipstick in middle school. I still am, just not together now LOL. I love bright nail colors too. I usually play up my eyes more than my lips. Blue really makes my eyes pop for some reason. :)
One of my best friends is getting married next year and is having a themed wedding from that time period! She's even having her dress custom made cause she can't find exaclty what she's looking for. I'm so excited to have the chance to dress up like that and wear bright red lipstick! I've never rocked the red lipstick but have always wanted to, I'm definitely going to check out the colors you suggested-thanks!psIf anyone knows of a fabulous dress-maker in NY please let me know, she's having a hard time finding one. thanks again!
