MAX FACTOR 2000 CALORIE EXTREME LASH PLUMPER MASCARA!

Tantejoan here! If you were to wake me up in the middle of the night, shine a strong light in my face and demand that I confess the one beauty product I could never do without, I’d probably say mascara. I love my entire arsenal of lip colors, foundations, shadows, blushes and what-have-yous, but the truth is that if I had to limit myself to one of each, I could do it. Give up my wardrobe of mascaras? I break into a cold sweat even thinking about it. My bathroom shelf has a 12-slot Lucite holder dedicated to housing my Wands of Many Colors, and that’s not even all of my collection.
I have blacks. And Extreme Blacks. And browns, which I like next to my blue, blue eyes. And burgundy, which I also like near my blue, blue -- well, you get the picture. I have several of those formulas that wrap each lash into little tubes that are supposed to drop off at the mere hint of water. Don’t like ‘em, but I still buy them each time another company comes out with a version in the hope that I will like theirs. I have cake mascara, a true throwback to the days when I used to sit in my eldest sister’s bedroom and watch her spit -- that’s right, spit -- on her Maybelline cake and work at her lashes with a brush the size of a gnat. When you bear in mind the health advisory that recommends replacing mascaras every three months, you can appreciate that mine is a habit more insidious and expensive than gambling or drugs. In fact, I’m looking for a support group, so I hope that the similarly addicted among you will step forward.
Some of my favorite mascaras are luxurious department store brands, including the two that I pay tribute to on my profile page, Yves St. Laurent and Givenchy, but a recent piece here on the new Maybelline Stilletto (which does not meet my, or in fact many of my sisters’, standards) reminded me of one of my oldest and best drugstore favorites, Max Factor’s 2000 Calorie Mascara. It’s been around forever, and at under $8 it’s a real steal. Now, in the first real breakthrough in Max Factor’s take on a winning formulation -- their innovations having previously been confined to the shape of the brush -- Max has come out with a truly new concept.... well, new for them.
Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper Mascara will look familiar to those who have tried Cover Girl’s Lash Blast. Both have big, big plastic brushes and both promise a “big lash look.” While I’m not convinced that a brush the size of a helicopter blade is necessarily an advantage when working on objects as delicate as eyelashes, this Plumper’s brush bristles are significantly shorter than the Cover Girl version. This to me is an advantage, giving the user more control. The patented Fat Wrap Brush is designed to grab every single lash, even the little ones, and the patented Fat Wrap formula works with the Fat Wrap Brush as it wraps around each and every lash for an “extreme, voluptuous effect.” The shorter bristles allow me to get in closer to the base of my lashes and wiggle my way into a truly lush lash. And the web site offers two intriguing hints for getting that Fat effect all the way up: a) blink against the brush, and b) take a piece of card stock or a business card and hold it against your lid, then stroke the product onto your lashes against the card.
This is really hard-core, ladies, but it worked for me, with no clumping or smudging. And while I’m not a fan of waterproof mascara, and so have not tested that, I have been caught in the rain while wearing the standard version, and can testify it did not run.
At $7.99 Cover Girl’s Lash Blast is cheaper, it is true. But at under $11 my money is on Max. And I can buy their two blacks, Extreme Blackout and Black Velvet, and still have change left over from what my department store mascara would cost. I am actually quite pleased to see that my old standby’s new sibling is worthy of taking a place on my shelf. Or it would be if that big, fat barrel would only fit into the Lucite slot! Now if only I could form that 12-step program to help me curb my addiction. With Mascara Anonymous at my back, if I felt the urge to buy yet another tempting wand I could call a friend and be talked down from that precipice. Ah, but with great finds like this to curl and separate, do I really want to get straight?

I would be worried to try it. Because if I liked it I may never find it again. Unfortunately for any fans, MF will no longer be sold in the U.S. after sometime in 2010. But they will be sold in Europe still. But I have heard that they have top notch mascara and concealer.
I just opened up my new issue of US Weekly and there is a $2.00 off coupon for this mascara. Look for it. Or if anyone wants it let me know.
I am weird. I have liked nearly every mascara I have ever used. Last fall I got a tube of Max Factor's 2000 Calorie, used it and loved it. I am bummed about the discontinuing of sales here. (although maybe with a rush to stockpile on behalf of many, they will change their minds).I have just started working through the Sephora Lash Stash I bought last fall. Some are familiar, some not. The Blink tube mascara - not sure on this one, first tube mascara I tried and it is very messy to apply. What other tube mascaras do you all like?Oh, and I also have some brand of cake mascara -some cheapo I found at some place like Walter Drake. I wish some cool brand would reinvent this.
I looked for MF last weekend when I was out and about last weekend. The selection is very limited where I live and I did not see the 2000 calorie mascara anywhere! I agree this is a great mascara for the money! :) I will miss it in my mascara collection after it goes away in 2010!
It's a solid product...not my fav but one that would absolutely do the trick for me if need be! :)And girl???That Maybelline cake mascara was THE first cosmetic I ever bought,LOL! .50 at the drugstore and I'd use my "milk money" to buy it,HAHAHA! I had those spikey-lashes before anyone else in the hood!
i love the fat helicopter and yes teddy bear brushes. as long as i can coat with one layer, come in from the back for a second coat and curl then tip...i am set to go. many times i find myself using two products, a seperate one to curl and tip! i have long lashes and i need to keep them up and at attention so that i can even wear sunglasses. :)

I love the new tube mascaras, but I have been a fan of 2000 calorie in the past. I usually stick to one mascara, but your review has given me the inspiration to play around. I just got my prescription for Latisse and I'm looking forward to seeing the results, but I'll never go without mascara. Thanks!

Ah, Mascara, second only to eyeshadow in the pantheon of the gods' makeup.I have long eyelashes but i am not happy unless they bat against my glasses causing me sort of micro-shocks as my lashes hit the glass.Max Factor has always been a good got to brand, i have used the 2000 calorie for ages, i think its better than the iconic pink maybeline. I wrote today only to teel y'all that you can get a pretty good cake mascara from LOLA. When i saw it knew i just had to have it. Years of watching my mother spit in her maybelline, as well and my brother's girlfriends doing same have definitely left me a bit unhinged. It is pretty cool and buildable. A word i had to figure out on my own, Allmost all mascara's say they are buildable, like all blind dates weight 120 lbs, but the truth is in the action. I have found that buildable usually means three tries and you eyelashes stick together like home fries.Which bring us to the world of lash combs. Any good ones out there i have missed?? Tweezerman makes a good one but if you try to keep it rasonably clean all the little godteeth end up on your cotton ball. For what they cost, you should be able to sue. Besides my habit of crazyglueing the teeth in, anyone else have any ideas. I must admit i have yet to find the mascara of my dreams. I must also admit that while I can make a case for spending $40.00 on eyeshadow, it is hard to do on something you toss every three months.(tell me the truth girls do you really toss it???)oh well, this is my first real post in a year, hope i did ok,gotta godotti

i dont really care for such thick brushes that MF and Covergirl offer now. I prefer something more slick like Telescopic from L'Oreal and Lash Stylist from Maybelline.
I haven't tried this formula yet, but, I always likes the reg. 2000 calorie mascara so I shall give this a try too.I recently acquired a firebird fresh mascara in black, it gives me so much length and separates each lash too. I really like this one but almost 30 bucks, ouch! I bought a sample size that I will hoard. My older sister has been a faithful 2000 calorie mascara user for years, not only will I try this, I will get her 1 to try too. I'll let you know what we think.
I have never used Max Factor products at all but have heard amazing things about 2000 calorie mascara on various beauty blogs and forums, and really want to try it... but I'm worried I'll love it and will have to stock up, or order from overseas once they stop selling here in the US! :( It's really sad.

I haven't tried this one, but I love the CG version...I'll have to try this one out! I hope they have it in other shades...A while back I had tried the MF volume couture and LOVED it...they had a lovely auburn shade which was perfect on me. It's hard to find this particular shade in a rubbery brush formula, which is what seems to work the absolute best for me. I also had another one of theirs...I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, but it was a doubled ended one with brown on one side, and a coppery color on the other to tip or top with...I loved it, as well. I'd definitely buy the MF rubber brush formulas again.
I have not tried this one & I'm quite sure I won't. If it's not broke, don't fix it. I have been wearing "L'Oreal Voluminous" mascara (waterproof) since age 30. (almost 12 years) I love it!!! I first discovered it when I saw the most perfect eyelashes I've ever seen. I was taking a public speaking class & everyone in this class were amazed by "Little Jenny's" lashes. We all called her "Little Jenny", because she was soooo tiny you could put her in your pocket. Seriously, ya could, if you didn't have pockets, you could use your purse & later put her on your shelf as a knick-knack. Anyway, I bought a tube right after class & I've been wearing it ever since. It only takes one coat for me, doesn't clump & your lashes look fabulous! L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara only cost around $7.00 at Ulta. At the moment, you can buy any one product by L'Oreal at Ulta & get another L'Oreal product of your choice for free. Ulta's best sale of the year is going on right now & I think it ends some time in July.

There are so many posts comparing CG Lash blast and Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara. The ingredients in Max Factor are much better than the ones in CG's. I want to try this product though especially since Max Factor is leaving us next year!
Well how sad! I had no idea Max Factor was leaving us. Can you still order them online anywhere to be shipped to the U.S? Though I'm sure international shipping would put it up high with department store brands. Pity. :( I really wanted to try this since I am a fan of Lashblast for my "daytime" eyes. My favorite "wow factor" mascara is Loreal's new Double Extend. I received a full size tube of it for FREE as a promo and I love it. I wore it on my wedding day. Makes my lashes look fabulous but a little overkill for day. Almost "fake lashes". I've always looked for the fake lashes look and didn't know how dramatic it could be until I tried Double Extend! It's one of those "tube" mascaras but also has a primers so it's a little less messy and stays on longer since it has something to adhere to and isn't spreading all over your face. One word of advice- don't try to mix this with pther mascaras! I usualyl use LashBlast and Fiberwig together anf tried to use Fiberwig with Double Extend and it made a terrible mess! Very clumpy and runny. They did not agree. I too am afraid now to try 2000 Calorie. I hate when my favorites are discontinued. Makes me feel like my puppy died. :( Ok, not quite THAT bad, but maybe like my hamster died.
I have read bad reviews about this mascara, I'm glad this one turned out great for you!
I have never tried any max factor products, they've never appealed to me. After reading this though I'm pretty interested in trying the mascara. I quite like the CG Lashblast but nothing I've tried has been as good as the Avon Supershock Mascara I currently use. I LOVE it. :)
i haven't tried this mascara yet, ,but I really loved your review. Just wanted to let you know that :) It was funny and informative at the same time.Mascara is a magical thing, I have to agree. I smile to think back to my middle school days when my only staple item was a black, Wet n Wild eyeliner. I used to never wear mascara either..and thought that blackening my eyes with eyeliner would have the same effect..Oh how the times have changed!!! (and thats a GOOD thing!)
haha i loved your review!! i always love a good review with some umph in it :) ps please excuse grammar i know it's pathetic but i'm just too tired.i can agree with you that max factor's 2000 calorie mascara is a good mascara and a great deal. but i've come across 4 others i've found do the same thing for me and than some. i'm crazy like that where i want products that do it all in one. like for the mascara curl, plump, and lengthen me up and you'll be my favorite mascara for the rest of my life!ok sure i'll find that either once every so often or if i money to shell. but personally the 4 other mascaras i find do this for me are decent priced and can be found in drugstores. i don't have these in waterproof so if you buy the waterproof ones i'm sure you'll get even better results.first my favorite mascara by far as far as i've tried anyways, maybelline's colossal volum mascara. i know some are probably just shaking their heads like oh no not another lover of that one haha. but it really does win me over with curling as much as i've gotten in any mascara but still do use the eyelash curler for a more stable and dramatic curl. it gives me nice plump lashes in less coats and lengthens to a point where my poor glasses will catch some mascara loving if i don't let them dry fully haha. the brush is very similar to the maybelline intense xxl and max factor 2000 calorie. i do recommend letting it dry fully before you start looking down or batting your lashes like crazy haha. personally i've found it doesn't smear much if at all and it's usually if you're sweating like crazy. oh and the smell is kind of strong i'd say maybe a perfume meets collagen haha i don't know.second favorite is hands down the l'oreal voluminious naturale. ok granted this doesn't plump as much what i love about it is i can do a coat or two and have nice definitive longer slightly curled lashes but that aren't too bam! i love that i can build on it and it doesn't clump on me or run easily. however i find it takes a while to dry so just be aware. i do love it in the brown-black color but that's just me the carbon black is great too but for this mascara i think for it's purpose of a more subtle but still noticeable difference in the brown-black. doesn't have much of a smell to me so that's good. the brush is cool but the thing about its especially if you have more sensitive eyes it almost starts to feel like it's scratch you because it grabs the skin and lashes with some pow. the brush is more or less like covergirl's lash blast but bigger thicker bristles.third would be maybelline's intense xxl with or without the primer i'm digging it. definitely curls and lengthens and plumps i do find i need more work with this and it does tend to get messy if you're not careful. the thing i hate about it is if you don't take your time with it especially if you prime it gets pretty clumpy. but the results when done with tender loving care is awesome! i remember i did a look i'll find the picture and come back and post the link to it, the lashes could of knocked someone out haha that's the biggest and boldest my lashes have ever looked [granted without falsies]. the smell again not so great but manageable. now the bristles are like 2000 calorie and colossal. the only that's crappy besides the time it takes to perfect for me is the fact that it will run sooner than i like.last but definitely not least is... covergirl lash blast shocking isn't it? brush has thicker sparse bristles which tickle my lashes but do grab onto the skin if i'm not careful. gives a nice curl, plump, and length after a few coats of the bad boy. doesn't smell that bad almost like plastic i guess. hate that it runs easily on me but does have the staying power like colossal. to me it's a little more umph than the l'oreal voluminous but takes more applications to really get that smokey effect.all of the mascaras are build able of course and i think are pretty decent from my personal experience. maybe i'll just do before and after pictures and just post the link back here for you guys if you want. as far as taking them off the 2000 calorie and voluminous come off easier for me and the rest stay on longer so definitely harder to remove. ok i think i'll stop now haha hope that helped.
I love this mascara its my favorite mascara
I haven't tried this yet, but I really love Max Factor mascaras. This seems awesome and I will try it! Thanks for the review.(And I will join your mascara anonymous group!)
I definitely have a slight obsession with mascara. I think I have 5 tubes going right now...anyway, I have tried 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash and I did like it a lot - It definitely worked well for me, but I wouldn't say it was any better than CG's Lash Blast. I'm a big fan of Lash Blast. I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th tube of it. The brushes are both similar and I had a little bit of trouble using the brush at first. It's huge. Plus, I don't think the shape of the brush handle is very user friendly. Anyway, since Lash Blast cheaper and not going to be discontinued in the near future (at least not that I'm aware of ) I think I'll stick to it!
i love to try new mascara
I've used 2000 calorie MF and liked it a lot. I hate that Max Factor will stop being sold in the US! But I don't usually commit to just one mascara. I started using the L'oreal double extend, and thought it was the best ever! And then, one day, when I didn't expect to do it... I bought my first tube of Diorshow. OMG!!!!!!!! It is everything I have heard about it. Fab - u - lous! Now, I do like the prices on L'oreal and MF much better. But I am totally awed by the Dior. It really made a difference to me. The next time I fall in love with a mascara, I hope it's back in the drugstore!

I just want to thank you all for your amazing comments, and for the mixed blessing of giving me new mascara suggestions to fuel my addiction! For all of those who have expressed fear about trying The Plumper today for fear of the big, bad 2010 MF expiration, I can only say this: I am very, very old (my 5 year old friend Angel has told me this, and Angel never lies), so carpe diem is my mantra. I enjoy things today and that includes brands that may go away tomorrow. In fact, my sister and I are convinced that anything we like, from our favorite Shiseido nail color to a brand of water-packed tuna, will immediately go off the market the minute we say, "Mmmmmm." But for those unconvinced to becoming mayflies, I will share with you all what I wrote to a few -- stockpile. Unless the seal on a product is broken, most products will not degrade. So keep your MF favorites, and put them away against the dreaded 2010 day. Me, I will probably have moved on to my next, best, fave.
I haven't tried this mascara before. I love my Maybelline!

I have always wanted to try this but I can never find it in stores and I refuse to pay any shipping fees.
I love Max Factor Mascara, I've used the regular kind, I haven't tried the 2000 Calorie kind.
Oh, how I can identify with the love for mascara. I have to agree - it is the one cosmetic I could never, ever live without. But I have never, ever found anything that works better than the Covergirl Lash Blast. It. Is. Incredible. I've tried all of the best that Sephora and every department store has to offer but I always go back to the Lash Blast. It's the only Cover Girl product I've ever liked, though. It's just amazing! P.S. If I find that 12 step program I'll let you know!
I can't wait to try this mascara. On the other hand, a mascara addict support group or even a beauty addict support group would be a great help for some people (& it might even make a lot of boyfriends & husbands happy hehehe).http://saimese.blogspot.com
A drugstore mascara that doesn't run or smudge? WOW!
I bought the Max Factor 2000 calorie and love the way it looks on my lashes. The only problem is, as I've gotten older and my eyes have begun to look smaller, I've found that I have to be very careful that the mascara doesn't get above and below my eyes before it dries. When I take my time, I really like the look. I read somewhere to blink as you put on the mascara and that does help on the upper lids. Also, if I heat my eyelash curler with my hair dryer (be careful though!) my lashes stay curled longer and look even better.
Moema....always a Mom first
Just an FYI- I've seen this (and other Max Factor products) going for around 5 bucks at local Wal-Marts, due to discontinuing the line, I guess.I recently became a mascara convert after 21 years of short, stubby eyelashes, and I love Covergirl Lashblast tons. I might have to grab a tube of this the next time I see it though-- thanks for the review!
Thanks for posting this. I have not tried it but I like to know what other people think of mascara
http://simplethingshere.blogspot.com
i currently use the regular MF 2000 calorie mascara.. and i love it.. this is slightly different but Im guessing it is just slightly plumped up. I love it! I found it first because of its very high rating in at book called beauty biblehttp://www.beautybible.com/ this book has great reviews of products, it is how i found my HG face cleaner too. Check it out~
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
I haven't try this one yet but i will. For sure.
i have seen a few great reviews for this one, never tried it though maybe i will get it when i next see it
I have this its great it has a really big brush I love the brush but for some it may be too big !!!
I was just looking at this today and I ALmost purchased it, but i just purchased some mascara- and hubby was with me-- always a downer for impulse buys- so I put it down. Thank you for the review. I do love the big and alternating big/small brushes! I do find they work wonders! Are these going to go bye bye with the end of MF?
I haven't tried the new Max factor mascara. I did try Cover Girl’s Lash Blast and hated it. The brush was huge and I usually just ended up with mascara on my eye lids, instead of on my lashes.

I'd love to try any MAX Factor mascaras, they all look amazing!
Wasn't really that into Maxfactor mascaras, good for bottom lash lines though.
It is on my list of mascaras to try, I don't like the brush though. If I buy it, I'll have to use another mascara for my lower lashes.
I love mascara, and i'm still experimenting with different brands.
I've never used that kind of mascara before, but it sounds really neat!
i've heard so many good things about this (:
i've heard TOO much about this eye mascara. i guess it's amazing and what not... aaha. anywho, i found it to be just okay.
I'm not a big fan of mascara, it always gets clumpy! I like clear mascara though :D
I'm with you, black black mascara is my weakness. I loathe leaving the house without it. I haven't tried the 2000 calorie one, but ive heard nothing but good reviews of it, and this one seems like a step up even from that :)
