APPELATION GRAPESEED SCRUB ! A SPECIAL EDITION OF GODDESS GRANNY!

Gorgeous Granny  wishing you a happy long-Memorial Day weekend and where I come from,it's the FIRST weekend that you can "legally" break out those white shoes in all their glory without the fashion police whispering into their suburban-swatch watches about your faux-pas in horror!

I actually hate white shoes because I remember having to polish them every damn Sunday with drippy ol' sponge-on white "Kiwi" polish and once you started using it,they ended up looking like chalky ghosts of their former sparkling selves

In other words,butt-ugly: May you never experience this!

We've chatted before about how Spring is the time to shed that skin and to embrace nature, sunshine (with sunblockof course!) and to take time to smell all the posies...now how about we add some WINE to that mix??? Thought I'd get your attention!

Specifically grapes: they are lush, gorgeous, sensual and delicious,multi-varietal,and the fruit from which all that is wine is created! Their seeds are also an amazing source of "antioxidents",a word that is tossed around frequently these days in beauty-circles,basically meaning that they are believed to help the body/skin prevent the damaging effects of oxidation which is "corrosion" loosely defined...welcome to Chem 101 people!

In other words, they help protect your precious exterior from the damaging effects of the environment in a nutshell.

Their natural nutritional elements have been proven to reduce inflamation, possibly reduce the risk of cancer, and evidence exists that they can also aid in arthritis and promote vascular health as well!
You'd think that they'd leave the damn seeds in them when we buy grapes at the grocery, right? LOL! Many people detest seeds,my husband acts personally offended should once graze his lips.

My husband actually has a small vineyard aka expensive hobby that involves much work, specialized machinery, too much time that includes hours of educated "mad-scientist" creation/frustration of wine and in a good year,it results a few decent bottles to gift to people on Holidays,! I have seen first-hand the mess...whoops...I mean process that the grapes are subjected to before any seeds are available to be used by some for the enhancement of we the people. It's pretty comprehensive and I have respect for those who go to such lengths to use grapes in all their goodness for our beauty-benefits,

A few brilliant and forward thinking companies have started to incorporate the do-gooder grapeseed into their products with wonderful results:"Appellation" is one such company and their beautiful line of skin-care products is not only scientifically "effective",their packaging, which resembles a classy wine bottle is cute as hell, they smell great, and work even better!

Base in California,Appellation has managed to harness the scent of a vineyard in their lovely bath and body products as well as the benefits of the noble grape itself! I received a small grouping of their spa-based products to try and honestly feel they are best enjoyed and used together for optimum results.

The affordability factor would allow for several of the adorable bottles near one's tub and they're VERY gift-worthy,IMO! I can see putting a few in a basket with a bottle of the real-stuff and/or one special gift in a cute wine bottle or bag...I'm always on the lookout for "cheap, easy, and glam" gifts to put together at a moment's notice these days.

The "Face and Body Wash" smells like a fine vintage and is extermely gentle as it contains no sufates...this means low-lather but skin is left soft and clean.

I LOVED the "Grapeseed Scrub" for use all over the body and on the face as well,my sensitive skin responded well to the microfine-beads and again the scent is one worthy of "A Walk in the Clouds!" (swoons over young Keanu)

Both are luxurious and would be fabulous to use every day...
My FAVORITE in the collection I sampled however is Appallation's "Grapeseed Hand and Nail Cream".I know, there are countless hand-creams on the market but trust me,this one is uber-rich,totally non-sticky,smells like heaven in a tube, and honestly leaves my hands soft, matte, and feeling very soothed for a long-time after I apply it! I have the worst cuticles in the universe and this actually has improved the ragged-beasts!

Can I say after using these products,I am DYING to give their "Muscle Soak" and the lavender-lux "Massage Oil" a try: I can smell them in my mind already and have a feeling they will join the collection near my tub very soon! I love when a company produces a carefully-edited and reasonably priced line of products that live up to the claims and exceed them with style and substance as well!

A new fav-line for me and a way that all of us whether we indulge or not ,can allow the "grip of the grape" to sweep us off our feet! :)

Their website is elegant-simplicity at it's finest and free shipping on an over $40.00 order is a HUGE plus these days!

Who else is loving how tipsy these products leave us feeling!

Buy it here!

So here’s the thing, just WHO made up the ‘white’ rule about when you can wear it?  I searched the internet and nobody has a definitive answer on that!  Just this weekend I announced to my Harley Husband that it is officially allowed to wear white now and he looked at me like I was talking a different language!  “What are you talking about dear?” he asked.  I explained about the ‘tasteful white rule’ and the dates involved and of course he laughed out loud!  That’s just crazy that somebody declared we can’t wear white, especially white shoes, at certain times. Guys don’t live by that rule I’m sure. I can honestly say, my Harley Husband has no white Harley boots so this has never been an issue for him!  LOL!  Even so, any white shoe wearing dudes probably don’t check their calendars before they proceed to saunter down the boulevard in their white stylin' shoes!  Sometimes I think fashion is rather crazy – this rule is nuts, but it’s been around so long (even though it’s not written as law on any legal documentation) and you can’t get arrested for wearing white at the wrong time, but still, most women’s in-house alarm systems go off in a dangerously high pitched sound that only WOMEN can hear when we spot a ‘white shoed’ atrocity strolling across our path as much as a week before the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend!  Good thing this only applies to ‘white shoes, pants, shorts, shirts and purses’ for the most part.  Thank goodness we can still wear white socks with our tennis shoes and steamy white lingerie beneath our clothing.  What if we had to monitor those things too at certain times of the year!  Well as frowned upon as I may be for thinking “Who cares if you wear white during an unauthorized period of time – according to some rule made by????” I will probably get an even bigger frown here because…. I’m not a fan of the Appellation Grape seed Micro fine Scrub or the matching products.  I know I’m sure I’ll be brought up in front of a grape throwing firing squad, but I honestly have given this scrub and the matching products several go rounds and each time, for me, I hate the smell.  Sorry.  But every time I use it I make a face and it’s not a cute face either.  I have used it on my feet too, so I could use it up and it’s ok, but I’m just not excited about it.  The packaging is nice and the ingredients are lovely.  I tried pawning it off on my Harley Husband but he wasn’t interested - also not a fan of the smell.  I put the body wash out on the sink to use instead of regular soap or hand washing liquid, but again, every time I used it, I made that face that says … “This isn’t working for me.”  I’m probably going to find a girlfriend who stops by our house who will undoubtedly resonate with the entire set and kiss me profusely for letting her leave with such a great trio of goodies, but until then, I can’t give these items my best 21 grape salute.   They are ok in the product usability department and a really not ok with me in the fragrance department.

Jeanasina!

Bend me over and slap me silly, because I wear white whenever I feel like it. I have always looked better in white than black, it simply can't be helped.  ha! ha! ha! Oh, yeah, I've always been the most extreme sort of rebel. On to the product.I freakin' loved this chit!  The smell, the quality, and the effectiveness blew my mind.  I find myself constantly reaching for the Face and Body Wash and the Grapeseed Srub over some of my all time favorites.  The Hand and Nail Cream is incredibly versatile.  It worked beautifully on the feet of my children and myself, and greatly softened those nasty bumps on the back of my arms caused by Keratosis Pilaris. Impressive. I LOVE the fact that the Hand and Nail Cream absorbs completely no matter where you put.  It leaves nothing but lightly scented, satiny skin behind. (See? Using Hand and Nail Cream on places other than hands and nails, total rebellion.) Surprisingly, the face and body wash never over-dries and causes zero irritation.  The scrub exfoliates most effectively from head to ankle without the dreaded irritation I am constantly expecting and always fighting.  (Couldn't say head to toe, it wasn't quite strong enough to exfoliate rough/dry feet.) I could easily purchase many more products from this fabulous line, as gifts for others (loved the bottle of wine idea Goddess Granny!) and regular bath-time products for myself. AAAAAHHHHmazing!

I love white but it doesn't like me. I'm a real clutz when it comes to white, it looks good on me until I spill something on it. I can wear any color and I'm fine, as soon as I put white on I need a fresh stain on it.  When I was in hairstyling school we had to wear all white, shoes too, that was not a good fashion year for me ;-) Even on my wedding day I managed to get my white dress smudge on my friend's car between the ceremony and the reception. Huge black line on the front of my dress, lucky enough for photoshop it didn't show on the pictures.I would love to try this product. Sounds like it works very well. Great Review as always mjsred!

I really really really love this hand cream (so does my boyfriend). It smells really good, and it's actually super moistuzing WITHOUT being greasy. I've come across a ton of products that claim this but never actually are, and this one is. Plus, I like that the hand cream's actual size is a travel-friendly size without being ridiculously small.

Ok...it's SOAP BOX TIME for sweetassgal!  Though I live in Cali my family (and their values) are predominantly Southern.  I was raised never to wear white between Labor Day and until Eastern Sunday for several reasons...#1...ladies DON'T get dirty and white in the winter simply is not conducive to maintaining this ladylike status.  #2...dirty white shoes are a sign of sloth and low class.  If you wear white shoes...wear CLEAN white shoes. #3...again, wearing dirty white shoes is a sign of lower class and anyone who has an ounce of human charity would never shame another human by flaunting their clean white shoes in winter knowing someone more unfortunate could never afford to keep replacing shoes every time they got a spot on them.  It's not polite to make others feel bad about themselves and its not polite to show off when you are better off financially than someone else (keep in mind better off financially doesn't mean they are better people...but where I come from you don't flaunt wealth...its vulgar.)Now...that said I have a few modern "twists" on this stipulation.  #1...if you live in So Cal or FLA...anything goes for "summer" clothing as winter doesn't really exist.  Also...if you must wear ALL white in the winter...go WINTER WHITE which is a nice ivory.  Save the bright whites to welcome spring.  However, it is ALWAYS 100% acceptable to wear a bright white shirt or dress any time of the year.  I wear white button ups with jeans in the winter all of the time but I don't have to worry about my jeans (not white) getting winter grime on them.  And if I wore a white dress it would be accented with color and other things because lets face it...no on wears ALL white unless its a formal occasion or you are the bride!  So...that's my Southern and Western take on white.  Keep it smart, keep it simple...and for the love of Pete keep it clean!!!!!!!!!!!

Love, hugs and shoes...Angie

I love white, but I hardly ever wear it, not just because of silly "fashion rules" (who made those anyway?). I'm not apt to spill anything dark colored on white that you can think of. If they're shoes, there's a great chance that it will rain that day and I'll be stuck wondering around in white shoes in a sea of mud puddles. That's just kind of how it works for me, lol.The scrub sounds fabulous, but then again, I think I've very rarely met a scrub I didn't like. It sounds like it's a really fine scrub, which is awesome. I hate abrasive scrubs.
