DR. BRANDT BLEMISHES NO MORE INTENSOLUTION
Kate here!Obviously, I was cocky. I really only suffered the occasional cyclical blemish as a teenager. I thought, "Gosh! I am so lucky for my clear sking! I really am going to obey the complexion gods and take as best of care of my skin as possible! Then by about 22 - which I think is safely out of adolescence - the dirty acne bomb exploded on my face! More than 10 breakouts at a time! All over my face! Without end! It's just really frustrating - I feel like I'm being punished!
But last week, my old boss and friend Mary from Dr. Brandt showed me the new Blemishes No More line from Dr. Brandt. There are cleansing pads, the "toner" intensoltuion, the spot blotter & concealer, a redness relief serum, and an oil-free hydrator.
Even in less than a week, I've cleared up dramatically just by integrating the IntenSolution into my skincare regimen! $35 buys you 3.7 ounces - which Mary said should last 2-3 months. It "effectively clears blemishes without over-drying skin. It overs intensive acne treatment for race or other parts of the body where breakouts occur." Salicylic acid sluffs of dead skin and grime to keep from further congesting the skin. The special Palmitoul Hexapeptide-26 helps to regulate and control the breakouts. Plus it's really cooling and soothing to the skin - sort of like in a Sea-Breeze kind fo way - but much less hash!
Even better, you can try the whole regimen in the Blemishes No More To Go kit for $45 which includes the intenSolution, the Oil -Free Hydrator (divine under makeup!) and the cleansing pads for about a 30-45 day supply. There is a skincare God!

Kate darling -
You are smart, a good writer & reviewer, BUT... you need to:
1. Slow down your typing.
2. Use spell check.
3. Proofread your copy.
I say this with love.
Hi Raisinette,Kate is a great reviewer and if there are grammar or typos-then, as her editor, it's my fault.I apologize for not being a better proof-reader! Sometimes, I write and read as I talk. I talk a lot like Kate! Thanks for keeping me on my toes!Best,Meg
Oh Kate, I feel your pain. The same thing happened to me at age 33. Come on! To make it all the way through adolescence unscathed (mostly) only to end up as an adult with Acne? Whaaaaa?I have not used Dr. Brandt's system, but I feel like I have tried just about everything else. For me, dealing with Acne has been emotionally draining and incredibly frustrating. My self-esteem took a pretty good hit too. There have been a few things that helped the most, finally giving me clearer skin. First, I finally broke down and took antibiotics (doxycycline 100mg, twice daily for 8 weeks). This was the beginning of the solution. Second, I started using Sea Weed Soap (Thank You Ink Bunny!) and Joining of Herbs, Lavender Cleanser and Toner (Thank You Sharond!) Each of these things work very nicely on their own but when used in combination the results are fabulous. I really think the Toner was the product that pushed everything over the edge towards success. I now have clear skin, smaller pores, redness is almost completely gone and my skin just looks brighter. I should mention that the Toner has a definite vinegar scent, but I do NOT mind. If it works I really don't care what it smells like. Acne makes you desperate! I also use Dr. Hauschka's moisturizer and his Normalizing Day Oil. The Day Oil is AWESOME! It is meant to help control oil and/or calm the effects of Rosacea. For me, it's all about Rosacea maintenance. I have not forgotten how difficult it is to wake up every day with new blemishes. I am only recently acne-free, and still sort of expect new pimples to form each night. I hope this is helpful. From everything I have read, controlling Acne seems to be such an individual battle. Tailoring the products to your skin type and making adjustments here and there seem to give the best chances for success. ♥
Kate, thank you for this. I had horrible acne when I was a teen. When I was 27 that acne turned to facial hair!! It has been a challenge. I now have children, nieces and nephews, 1 in particular, w/ terrible acne. I have been curious as to what will work and do a great job. Thank U. Just a bit of a side line, if you or a daughter, grand-daughter or other female family member is suffering from acne, hirsutism, irregular periods, weight gain, depression, not able to conceive and/or feeling "not feminine". PLEASE get checked for PCOS, (poly cystic ovary syndrome) . more to come
What are the symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)?
Not all women with PCOS share the same symptoms. These are some of the symptoms of PCOS:
OK, not to freak those of you that want children out-but-here is what I was told yesterday at the tanning event from a top skincare specialist that seems to know these things.I, like Kate, had clear skin in my teens (I did have glasses, a bad perm and weighed 90 lbs. soaking wet-so I had other issues.)Anyhow, I said to said expert "Hey, ever since I turned 31 (ish) I've had these white pimples on my face and I can't pop them and they're really in there good"Her response? Brace yourselves breeders, "Oh, it's called cystic acne. It's related to the onslaught of menopause. Studies now are showing we actually start the process of menopause 10 years earlier and one of the starting signs you're entering it is cystic acne. I'm sure that's what's going on."Strangely enough, this information calmed me
OMG that's me. Never had acne and now at 44 I've got just what you described. It must be menopausal. Strangely this news hasn't calmed me. It's not the menopause thing - I don't want children, and I'm not bothered about aging. It's the cystic acne that comes with it. Why, oh why, oh why should I be fighting crepey neck skin and pimples at my age????? This is proof that life isn't fair.
This is kind of scary for me. As a teen I had very clear, picture perfect skin. I never had problems with breakouts of any sort. I went to college straight out of highschool. About a year into my college career I started breaking out very very bad. It wasn't just a spot here or there either. I started breaing out in cystic acne. Sometimes these things get huge. I unfortunately am still suffering from this. But I don't get why I had clear skin all through my teenage years, when most people have acne problems, and then I started breaking out when most peoples skin had cleared up. I have always developed early, and I sometimes jokingly say that I feel like a old woman, or that I'm getting too old. I have heard of some women going through menopause really early too. I hope I'm not going through menopause already. I really don't think I am. But I have never been able to find out why I had clear skin forever, and then when I became an adult my skin started erupting in cystic acne.
I had really bad acne from about 14 to 16 and it does really effect your confidence.Ive been pretty clear skinned for quite some time now but with the last week I ve gotton about 5 spots.I ve recently changed my skincare routine around a bit so I ve figured out where I am going wrong-the combination of serum and moisturiser is obviously too rich for my skin so I will stop using them in tandum, its all trial and error.I would definately try the dr brant ,it would be handy to have it to hand when and if my skin starts acting up again.

I really was glad I found something that really worked again, was gentle, (and tingled!). I tried the Clinique Acne system for a while last year and I didn't feel like it was effective enough. I really feel that Salicylic acid based products (Like Dr. Brandt's line) are much more effective the Benzoyl Peroxide products (like Clinque) for Acne. I think it's a better antimicrobial because I know that my acne (luckily) is such and not cystic and hormally related. A run of antibiotics for a cold or something usually clears me right up!.And Raisinette, I think one inverted word and one missing letter from a post isn't so bad. We're only human.
Katie
I think we all want clear skin. I currently use Aveeno foaming face wash.
Thanks Kate for the GREAT review. I haven't been using the acne line, but I am a huge fan of the Dr. Brandt's "Pores No More". It does a great job of minimizing my pores and preventing "cakiness" with my foundation.
Thank you for this review, I'll have to check this out. Below is exactly what happened when I went to my dermatologist:I walk in and am greeted by an older woman with a fading blond dye-job,"Hello," I chirp, cheerful that I get to miss half the school day for this."Hey, you must be Alijah Yourish." She says in a clear, professional voice."Actually, it's pronounced Allya," I correct her."Well Allya, what have you come in today for?""I seem to have severe acne that won't go away." After saying this I finally realize how bad it is."Well, we can do our best but I doubt we can make it go away, without surgery we can't work miricals."Wow..... That's how bad my skin is...... They wanted me to get some laser surgery thing but instead I'm taking an oral medication and washing my face twice a day. Even the derm. who see's this stuff every day told me it wasn't going to go away.....
I've battled in one way or another for the past ten years with acne. Like the other girls here, my skin was perfect until the age of 20...then it broke out. I tried acne cleansers and that just made it worse...salicylic acid, apparently, hates me.I've found that in my particular situation, the best I can do is use something mild. Juice Beauty seems to be working wonders for me..however, I STILL have tiny bumps all over that won't go away. I can't use scrubs, or I break out worse. I can't use harsh cleansers or masks, or I break out worse. I'd love to give this kit a try, but I'm so afraid it will just irritate my skin and rather than having tiny bumps, I'll go back to having deep cystic acne that hurts and scars.
i am 25 and the pimples still dont go away. i try to keep them at bay by using aspirin mask- aspirin mixed with any cleanser.
This actually makes me think of the age old remedies - do people still use toothpaste?

Acne is mainly caused due to overproduction of sebum in sebaceous glands of the body. Diet containing much oil must be avoided to prevent from acne. Balanced nutritious diet should be taken.http://www.skinb5.com/
wow. I NEED this.I always have blemishes on my face due to acne. I've had acne on my face ALL MY LIFE.just like what julie123 said, I really need to fix my diet too.I'll be going into a dorm and hopefully i'll eat healthy @___@
I feel your pain.I have had acne forever (well, from 13-25) and I still have it. I never got to experience clear skin. I hate to think back to high school because my skin was so awful I wouldn't even take my senior picture. My mom, who had total control of my skin care as a teen, didn't do anything to help. She thought clean skin wouldn't get acne so she made me wash my face and keep my hair out of it. It was humiliating for me and it only got worse as the years went on. (I still love you mom)I still have acne but at least I am trying to make it better. I am using Proactiv but plan on switching to Murad to see if it's any better. This kit doesn't look like it will work for me. I do like the bacteria growth inhibitor though. Great concept.
Argh I'm 21 1/2 and have been lucky to... I'll be keeping an eye out ;)
