OLAY REGENERIST!!

It seems like only last week when I’d observe my favorite aunt apply Oil of Olay’s pink lotion from a bottle she carried everywhere. It was an inexpensive little potion, but she swore by it. The emulsion was mysterious to me, as my fortunate mother never used moisturizers—she had nary a wrinkle, even into her eighties! Well, Olay has come a long way from that little pink bottle over the years to several lines: “Total Effects,” “Definity,” “Regenerist” and “Professional Pro-X,” among others. Which to choose? I did my “Drugstore Dance” with my m andatory, protective huge wrap-around sunglasses to peruse their offerings. Some people hail this as my “Jackie O.” look; store managers tend to view me as a potential shoplifter.
I made my selection quickly before I felt the urge to run from the overwhelming number of products, trash the shelves, or pen graffiti on the walls from utter frustration (I came closer to doing it than you know). What made me choose Oil of Olay’s Night Recovery Moisturizing Treatment? The price (under $20!) and a tag line which promises “the look of a mini-lift each morning.” It was music to my ears, something I could learn to love.
Now I’m pulling out my teaching chalkboard: This crème contains an Amino-Peptide complex and enhances the production of Collagen, resulting in firmer, younger-looking skin. Some researchers contend that this is more effective but less irritating than Alpha-Hydroxy, making it appropriate for those with sensitivity problems. Anti-oxidants in the formula—Vitamins E and B3—work to protect you from damage caused by sun, wind, and pollutants. Also included are Allantoin, a comforting, calming element, and Green Tea (stylemama, that was Green Tea, not Tea Tree Oil!). The uses for Green Tea continue to grow. In tests, it’s been shown to slow the development of wrinkles and lines. A skin expert from Perricone advises that drinking several cups daily will also help you to lose weight (yes!) and prevent illness. Keep in mind: What you put in your body is as important as what you apply topically. Get enough sleep, eat healthily, stay hydrated, and avoid the sun. You may now put your notebook away.
This crème is a gentle lavender shade with a whipped, mousse-like texture. The scent is reminiscent of a perfume from olden days. Unlike Estee Lauder’s serum shown on my profile, you will not enjoy an immediate velvety feel, as it takes at least ten minutes for skin to absorb it. What surprised me is that, within an hour, my skin was actually brightened as well as more supple and soft. With continued use, results are intensified. This is not for those with very deep lines or damage. If your complexion doesn’t require a SWAT team for repair, this may be just what you need. Warning, Will Robinson! Do not apply to eyes. Facial crèmes and serums can trap water and exacerbate bags; opt for items especially created for this tender tissue.
Olay has a clever online program to aid you in choosing exactly which of its lines you should use (www.olayforyou.com). Be honest for it to work most effectively. You will be asked how much time you devote to care, whether or not you moisturize, if you’ve lost or gained weight (don’t play Pinocchio), your real age (it rejects twenty-nine), etc. I followed the animated system to see how I fared with my choice. At the end I was elated! The cyber woman’s voice said, “I believe that Olay Regenerist is best for you.” My ego was lifted as well as my face!

Great review. I'm a big fan of the Olay Regenerist line, so when this hits our stores, I'll definitely be checking it out.

This sounds like a great option for a budget conscience skin care. I wish you did not have to wait 10 minutes to let it soak in! :(
Potionprincess, laughing hard makes my head hurt worse, but your comment is hysterical!
If you look at my page here at megs you'll see olay regenierist. Olay regenerist held it's own against Regenerie' did better then LaPrarie on CR (consumer reports) . I have been waiting for someone to make this discovery. Thank U Gigi AKA Champ AKA Drugstore Diva aka Beautiful Wonderful, the list goes on and on!! The overnight treatment came free when I bought my olay regenserist eye serum and they both, eye seerum and pm cream are awesome. I also have the new regenerist micro sculpting cream,(requested it for Xmas) you can get 2 jars for $32-$35 at Sams club, this red jar beauty beat another one that costs $300. Yeah, I love me some Olay Regenerist!! You will too. CR reports to follow.

Meg, I understand your enthusiasm about Olay products and they do excellent promo campaigns. However, after trying a number of their products, I'm sticking with Patricia Wexler, M.D. Her products are, without a doubt, expensive and not the easiest to find; but, as for results, I won't change...at least until something better comes along.I do have a few Olay products here as backup in case I run out of a Wexler product but I'm sticking to my regimen with Wexler.
I have used Wexler products for extended periods of time. Some with good success, but I was not happy with their deep wrinkle eye cream. It always seemed to sting and did not provide any results that I could see. I did love the skin regenerating serum by Wexler, though(pink goo, I forgot the exact title). Wexler is good, but a little over priced, I think. I think the c. booth line works as well if not better, for half the price.I went out today and bought the Regenerist eye lifting serum. Will keep you posted.

O god sorry, hope you feel better soon.

I use Oil of Olay when I run low on my other moisturizer (Sonja Dakar), I have been using Oil of Olay age defying on my chest and neck, when I was in my 20's laying out in the sun by the pool with baby oil slathered all over trying my damnedest to get the "perfect tan" and just ending up with the ultimate sun burn. now in my mid 40's and smarter and much more aware of what sundamage does, I always us sunblock and everynight I moisturize like a crazed woman! then start the process all over in the morning. I am going to check out the web site and see what the recomendations are, I would jump through hoops to keep my skin looking good and keeping it healthy
Ahhhhhh Oil of Olay....... Gigi, I too have the same pink bottle of lotion hard wired into my memory banks. This was my mother's "go-to" lotion for most of my childhood. Enter puberty, time for my very own pink bottle of Olay! (Seriously, should have seen the addictive behavior even then!)Cut to present day: I have not tried the Regenerist Line, but I have read rave reviews about it from several different sources. It sounds like a terrific product, minus the 10 minute absorption time. Too long for me to wait when there are 87 other products I must apply to my poor face before bed. I could fall asleep at the vanity awaiting absorption. As always Gigi, you make us laugh and educate us, all in one seem-less lesson. If I ever go back to college, will you home school me?Green Tea you say, hmmmm neeeever heard of the stuff. Gigi, I am certain it was a simple misprint, surely the meant to list it as Tea Tree Oil! You know that I am lovin' that my name is synonymous with TTO. It's like I am a TTO celebrity! Either that or a TTO nut-job..........
Whoa, vicci13, I know when I've been beaten--keep writing like that and my position will deservedly go to you! I truly appreciate the product comparisons--wow! Potionprincess, I live with pain but it's due to my eyes; I love laughing! Stylemama, when I wrote this, I actually thought of petitioning the government to create a new Cabinet position--Secretary of Tea Tree Oil. You could appear on ads of your own or maybe they'd let you work with the Surgeon General. For the rest of you, it's been a tough day. Your nput is precious and greatly appreciated! Love you!
I CAN SPELL!
This was another skintastic review to be sure! I took the test and the magic people behind the Olay Definity curtain strongly suggested I use this Regenerist Night cream! Based on this review and the website…apparently this product could be quite remarkable on MY skin if I just try it! By taking their little test it showed that I have already been using two of the products they suggested without knowing they would suggest them for me specifically! I just happened to try them on my own! I have been using for months now the Olay Definity Eye Illuminator (also the recommendation for me on the website test!) I have been completely satisfied with it actually and didn’t realize how satisfied I was until I tried another eye product! And….I have been using the Olay Definity Color Recapture product for a couple of months also and REALLY liked this product! This was another product I tried for a couple of months and thought “eh” until I stopped using it and thought “Something is not working any longer in my facial area!” The light bulb proceeded to blind me when it went off and I realized that I was missing the Definity Color Recapture product I had been using so I went right back to using it! I think the Olay people have some good chemists in their lab! I read a review of this Night cream on Drugstore.com and one woman said she felt it helped with her ‘sagging skin’. I can tell you right now that I’d eat the stuff if it helps with that!!
Jeanasina!
I do like the perfecting cream, night cream, and the serum....I've moved on to Juice Beauty, though, for the organic nature of it...I wish proctor and gamble didn't test on animals so much.
You're a brilliant writer :-) Thanks for the tip.

Gigi love, thank you for imparting your beauty wisdom on us all! I have tried many cleansers, but I always keep Olay's Age Defying Cleanser w/microbeads in my bath. It always delivers! Looking forward to trying Regenerist after all the rave reviews.
I've never tried anything from the Regenerist line, but like a lot of you, I definitely have the hardwired memories of my mom using Olay. One of the first moisturizers I ever purchased was Oil of Olay, just the regular old school variety, with a little bit of spf and nothing too fancy. It wasn't intimidating, so it was a good place to start. At this point, I'm not looking for products that are really anti-aging, but Olay almost alwyas has really positive reviews so I'll definitely be checking some of their products out in the near future.
I used the Olay online program and am curious to try the recommended products. I have sensitive oily skin with blackheads, large pores, and some discoloration as my main concern. I have tried several products from various brands to eliminate blackheads but that seems like a challenge I will forever have. They recommended 5 products (1 weekly cleanser, a daily moisturizer, a night cream, a toner, and a daily cleanser) which makes the total for all products close to $50.
My grandma loves this stuff! She said it makes her skin look and feel good.
i got a sample of this sent to me when it first came out, my mom stole it from me. She says its great.

I have tried this from a deluxe sample a while back and loved it. I am really into Philosophy, but, while I love all things Philosophy, I am seriously thinking of going to Olay and using a complete regimen for a few months. I constantly see it get rave reviews and the savings would be nice.
i need to get these for my mom
After hearing all the rave reviews about this, I'm gonna give it a go & check it out for myself.

I totally agree that although Wexler is a great line, the eye cream leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe it's just me, but it didn't do a thing. The serum is nice, though, the longer you use it, the better you look.
Persinally, I recieved the product as part of my point package from Meg, my mom has always used it and loved it, and now I understand. It actually tightened and toned, i had some belmeshes that are now gone. It is a wonder potion :)

Saving money is great, but testing on animals has me stepping away from the pretty picture....
Oh I know this product well. I am sent out once a month for my MomMom to have some. She uses no other product. I think I'm at the age I may want to grab one for myself...although some of you may feel 24 is too soon. IDK.
Thank you for this post. I am too young for these.
My mom loves this and look very young for her age so I hope it works the same wonders on me!
I'm currently using the Complete moisturizer, and I love it, so I might give this a try. As they say, "It's never too early to start using anti-aging products."
have not tried this and can not tell.
I've been using the Microsculpting cream from the Regenerist line for a little over a week now and my skin has never looked better. I feel like it's much firmer and younger looking. I would not recommend it as a lotion under makeup as it tends to make the makeup heavy after a few hours. I've been using it nightly and looooove it. My skin is so soft and even the tone is improving! Love. Love. Love. Also, CVS makes an entire line of products that are copycats of Olay. Even the ingredients are the same. They do the same job for much better price.

i love it when an underdog wins...or in this case, a drugstore brand beats out a designes tres chic expensive brand lol
I'll be sure to check this product out, I love Olays items, especially their moisturizer.
