CAT COSMETICS! 20% OFF! WE LOVE CAT!
SharonD here! After watching Meg telling us about the “overnighter” I got to thinking of other handy multi use makeup. Even higher on the list are the ones that are easy to use and deliver first class results. In my opinion, Cat Cosmetic’s Smolder Shadow/Liner Duo is one of the best in that department. This product was reviewed on Meg's almost three years ago to the day, but feel it is worth bringing to everyone’s attention again.
I was introduced to Cat Cosmetics many, many years ago quite by accident. I accidentally received a neighbors Soap Opera Digest magazine in the mail and naturally paged though it. There was a column called Product Queen written by Catherine Hickland that caught my eye. The article was very informative, including her rating of a few products and mentioned you could go to her site and read past columns. At that time I was looking everywhere for any bit of information on makeup reviews. I looked up those articles and discovered Catherine had her own makeup line, Cat Cosmetics. I was so impressed by all the positive ratings of her products and knew I needed to try a few. I telephoned Cat Cosmetics to ask a few last minute questions and talked to the lovely Gillian, Cat’s hard working VP of graphics and development, who quickly answered all my questions. Since I am very much concerned on what goes into products and how they affect not only the environment, but how they will affect me, I was heartened to hear that Catherine Hickland is a firm believer in the connection between looking good and feeling good.
My first purchase was the Six Kitten and I was very impressed. My second order included Smolder among other items. Smolder has to be one of the most versatile eye makeup products out there. One end is a coppery eye shadow and the other end is a noir eye liner. Both products are solid yet creamy soft stick and very easy to apply. You can just glide them on and go or use your fingers or brush to blend. I find them so easy to use I can do my eyes while at the stop light and feel confident I did a good job. They are long lasting, non-creasing or running, and do not lose their color intensity throughout the day. I think this product is one that not only needs to be in everyone’s purse, but on the vanity easily within reach. Also another twist of fate took place on Cat’s chat area. She was preparing to close the chat area and mentioned Meg’s Makeup as a wonderful site to find reviews on all brands of makeup.
Ordering on Cat Cosmetics online store is quick and easy. She also has a ground based store in NYC. Products are packaged professionally and delivered within a week. Signing up for emails entitles you to all sorts of discounts. This months discount is 20% off your whole order. The site also has a link to the litterbox which has products that have been minimally damaged in packaging, a fake jewel fell off, or any other little mistake that does not allow it to be sold as perfect. Of course these little problems entitle you to even more discounts. I have ordered from the litterbox and found no problems with the product itself.

Smolder is always tucked inside my purse makeup bag. When I first signed on here, it was one of first the products I recommended, and it is still at the top of my list. When I want to do an on-the-fly day-to-night makeup that will take me from the office straight to dinner or an after-work event, Smolder always come through. And while most how-to articles on achieving a smoky eye feature an all-black or charcoal palette, for anyone with my coloring -- blue eyes, ash blonde hair and fair skin -- Cat's combination of bronze-y brown and black is so much more flattering. Love it!
I agree! Smolder is wonderful. It's convenient, easy to use, and looks great! While I mostly use my Urban Decay liners, I gotta say this eyeshadow/liner combo rocks! I keep it in my tiny cosmetic case in my purse so it's always available for eye emergencies. You know, like when you're in a hurry and forget to do your eyes...I think it was the first thing I ordered after starting to read Meg's. I've also used Cat's primer (can't remember the name) and it was excellent too. I'm still fickle with my primers, but I'm sure I'll get back to Cat's again.

LOVE this duo-stick! Honestly,I have only tried a couple of Cat's products but loved them both...I have her site earmarked for a "must buy from" order and will get to it asap...so much out there but I LOVE her honestly, grace, and the efficient and lovely site as well as her amazing products...besides,the woman is so damn freakin' gorgeous it hurts to look at her,LOL! Thanks for once more brining Cat to the front of the pack, right where she belongs!
Smolder's awesome. It's great for touch-ups on the go - after a day at the beach turned into a night at the bar, I used this really fast to turn my makeup into a night look. I'm somewhat of an eyeliner junkie, and eyeliner ALWAYS smudges on my oily skin (especially while wearing sunglasses), but this stayed put for most of the night. I'd never think to pair bronze &black together, but somehow this combo works.
It is not very often that I like these type of products. They just never seem to flatter or hold up very well. BUT SMOLDER IS AMAZING! I am so excited that I received this product. At the re-launch, Cat specifically mentioned this item. She knew we would all love it, and she was totally right! This is one of the first products I have ever used that actually helps to achieve a 5 minute face. It goes on so beautifully that I thought for sure it would melt off of my face in a few hours. Wrong again, nothing about this product disappoints. Seriously, nothing. The colors are also terribly flattering and delivers a beautiful smokey eye just as easily as a more neutral polished look. Very easy to use and it even comes with great directions, I am in love..... The litter box idea is fabulous idea. More makeup for less money; brilliant. Thanks ShaonD, great write up!
I have always thought that Catherine Hickland was a smart and sexy woman. But now that I know that she has such an amazing cosmetics line I like her even more. I am hearing nothing but wonderful about the products. I really want to try Smolder. This month's 20% off seems like the perfect time to try it.
I received this great smolder eye shadow and liner from Meg as part of her fabulous relaunch extravaganza! This product is great for so many reasons! I love that I can keep it in my purse in my ‘must have items of beauty’ that go where-ever I go! It’s just the best that the smoldering eye shadow is compacted inside this easy to use and easy to store in your bag fountain pen looking style container with eye liner on the other end! This really works well! Every TV show I happen to watch such as “How Do I Look” where they change the clothing style of renegade women who live outside the imposed ‘correct’ lines always gives them helpful tips on how to do their makeup to compliment their new clothing line. Every single time lately, the makeup artist has commented that…smoldering, smoky eyes are in! They consistently have commented that the look of light/white shadow across the area just below the brow and then a darker line in the crease and dark shadow on the lid is DATED!!! Red alert! That look is DATED!!! So…from this show I realized I might have had some days at the office recently where people probably walked by and then under their breath said ‘Gag me! That look is so DATED’!!! So..in using my powers of observation after hearing this information countless times, I have been trying to get the latest look with smoldering eye shadows. When I got this double barreled, all in one, fabulouso eye dazzler by cat cosmetics – I was one happy camper! This works SO well, it glides on like a dream – spreads with ease and looks wonderful! There is a bit of sparkle in it too! I personally don’t wear black eye liner – black lined eyes on eldercare subjects stands out waaay too much, (brings up memories of the “What’s Wrong With This Picture” images you used to see in children’s magazines. I need a nice soft brown. I will say the liner goes on easy and makes a perfect line even if you are not an expert at staying within the lines! This lovely duo came with a card that explains in glorious detail just how to use this black magic eye wand to its best advantage! I am a woman who thrives on instructions so this little card is pinned to my pjs every morning as I begin my morning face paint regimen! All in all, I think this would work for many women both in the ease of having one wand that has both eye liner and eye shadow (so easy to use) and in the great quality of this product! I’m telling you it looks so much like a pen that you could put it in your boyfriend’s pocket in an emergency, tuck it behind your ear when you go to watch some sports event or have it lying on your desk and your co-workers won’t realize what it is until, of course, you drag out your battery operated portable make-up mirror and start doing your eyes at your desk! This is an awesome product and woman friendly idea!
Jeanasina!
I am totally hooked on Cat! I've been using my Open Sesamenow brush set and Kabuki brush since I reviewed them a couple of years ago. They have really stood the test of time. Also, the eye smolder and lip pencil/eye liner duo in buck naked and espresso are some of my all time favorites. The colors (browns, bronzes, greys) really work with my fair skin and blueish-grey eyes and glide on very smooth. Off to order some more - can't beat the 20% off.
My "without this product I would have to start drinking at noon" is the eye smolder...I am in love with it, as well as the Meow-za lip/eye pencil that gem is talking about. I use that eyeliner daily! Love CAT and her fabulous make-up...they both rock!!
I'm a big fan of the bronze smolder...it stays on really well and its a sexy smoky look. I totally red that bronze rimmed eyes are HOT this summer in Glamour the other day. I don't LOVE the staying power of the liner side, but it doesn't stop me from using it regularly! I have it on today as I type this during my IT class!

You know, you'd think eyeliners would be easy to find and pretty consistent for the most part. I have worked my way through alot of brands from drug store to department store and only a few really work well...non-smudgy, stays on without running down your face, goes on easily, etc. This product does all of these things and has an awesome eye shadow on the other end to boot! Anyway, I love this eyeliner!
The Open Sesameow brush set, and all of the eyshadows and blushes from Cat Cosmetics are of exceptional quality. I haven't tried anything but the brushes, eyeshadows, and blushes though. I like that part of the proceeds goes to help out homeless animals. The e/s and blush are at least as good as MAC, if not better! Definitely worth a try:D
Sounds like a great brand! Can't wait to try it out!
these looks fab! esp the shading stick easy and convenient :)
