I'M STILL LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT NATURAL MASCARA! GABRIEL MASCARA!
Sweetassgal on the war path still looking for the ideal paraben free and most "natural" mascara I can find!
I've always had a mini-obsession with women who have two things...luscious lips and lashes! I have neither (she says weeping) and as such have spent countless hours and hundreds of dollars on anything that will plump up either feature. Some youthful attempts were quiet insane and I'm ashamed to admit even a little on the idiotic side. I've played with falsies (lashes I mean) and nearly glued my eye shut while simultaneously pulling out half my lashes. I've pondered permanent makeup to increase the outer line of my lips but came to my senses at the first thought of impending blood. I even spent the entire morning before my Freshman school picture practicing how to hold my lips and smile in a way that wouldn't make my teensy lips disappear. It did not work of course, and I ended up looking like I was having a minor stroke in my picture. One word...RETAKES!
Alas, full lips and lashes just don't come with my German/Welsh genes and I have conceded defeat to my beautiful friend Jennifer's heartier and more robust Italian genetics. If my genes and hers got into a catfight mine would end up pummeled into the ground while hers batted its full lashes and blew perfect pucker kisses to the crowd yelling Ciao baby!!!
So given the fact that Mother Nature so thoughtfully deigned NOT to bless me in the lashes and lips department (she spent it all on my boobies...can I get a refund please?!) I'm forced to coat my lashes with layers and layers of paraben ridden mascara to achieve even nominal success. Since it’s my job as Green Chi Tuesday’s reviewer I've made it my mission to find a healthier and cruelty free alternative (I'm talking to YOU L'Oreal...shame on you) that performs as well as Diorshow's Lash Out mascara. I'm thoroughly impressed with Gabriel Cosmetics pressed powder so I gave their little black tube a shot. Here are the thumbs up and the thumbs down...
Way up! - Very gentle and non-irritating formula fortified with B5 and natural plant waxes for conditioning and nourishing your lashes. The end result is truly defined and very clean looking with absolutely no clumping or goopiness. Grapeseed extract is used in place of nasty parabens and they are cruelty free and completely vegan. Bravo!
Going down - Not a complete thumbs down but this product is only available in black and black brown and the wand (for me) leaves something to be desired. Though it is perfect for coating and defining your lashes it doesn't do much for me in the way of volumizing. I need a full brush much like Dior's to really get my lashes FAT FAT FAT! However there is an entire school of thought, and pardon me in advance for bringing up the Great Lash debate, that embraces this similar kind of wand. I know Jennifer has been a nearly lifelong devotee of the old pink and green tube and on her it looks FAB but for me I might as well swipe spit on my lashes because that's all it does for me.
So it’s my determination that when you have full lashes like Jen you need a cleaner looking mascara just to define but not overwhelm ala Tammy Faye. If your lashes have all of the va-va-voom of an anemic ballerina on valium ...then it’s a Diorshow kind of brush for you. All in all I will use my tube of Gabriel Mascara happily and am certainly not suffering for it but am anxious to try his Zuzu Luxe mascara which looks like it has a fuller brush as well as Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes. I've read the Tarte's qualifies for the natural ingredients but I have to research their testing methods. So until then...GLAM ON!!!
Buy It Here! Gabriel Cosmetics!
Have any of you ladies found a natural mascara you could suggest for me?

I just started using Physicians Formula Natural Organic mascara and I love it. It doesn't clump and gives me great looking lashes with 2 coats. Highly recommend this to everyone. Makes me feel good that I'm using a product that is not harmful. Try it!
Hello. I love tartes lights, camera, lashes except for 1 thing:flakes flakes and more flakes. It seperates, looks pretty and has a cool package, but for me I won't re-buy bc of the flakes. I would suggest cosminologys mascara: here is what the web site says: Obscenely Overweight™ Astrolash Mascara™ "Cuz even skinny lashes need luvin" AstroBrown Smudge proof and cosmically water resistant, this mascara builds and separates astrolashes without orbital clumping. This Astrolash Mascara™ features unique technology combining silky smooth lash building polymers and infused vitamins A, C, and E, seawood protein and algae extracts to protect and condition astrolashes. 7 grams.it also comes in black. There are lots of good products and I hope we can find a great mascara. I am in the search too.
I loved Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes and the flaking wasn't enough to deter me HOWEVER the price tag was. For twenty something a pop my poor shrinking wallet just couldn't handel it. Instead I've begun using Lashblast (don't know if it's 'green') and it works wonders. I already have think black lashes (they're long too) but they don't have much volume or curl, Lashblast totally works for them! Ciao
I wish I had insider-info on a "natural" dream mascara for you but alas, the ones I have tried sucked,LOL! HOWEVER,if you're not hard and fast on being "natural",I cannot say enough about "Bourjois Volume Clubbing" in "Extreme Black"...it's fantastic, reasonably priced, and once you get used to using the funky-brush as it's intended,NOTHING I have found at any price comes close to looking as much like falsies as this mascara does on your lashes! No clumping or flaking and it's a bit of a beast to get off but I love it!
I have not used Gabriel mascara as of yet, however, I have used the following two natural mascaras (color chosen to accent my green/blue eyecolor)...Lavera Volumen with Bio-Jojoba and Bio-Roos in #2 which is a Navy color....very light, non-clumping NATURAL!!! Not a "bushy" wand like commercial brands ...and.....Dr. Hauschka Volume Mascara in Aubergine (great for more "umph!" and non-irritating-more bushy wand like most) Both available at Wholefoods stores...I really wont use anything else on my eyes because I torture them with eye creams, drops, and everything else under the sun...this is one less thing plus it just "feels" so much nicer. Less odor and fumes (i am very sensitive to mascaras like Maybelline and the rest...i can hold the wand to my eyes and my eyes will actually water!!! I swear!) Anyway, once i run out I will be trying the Gabriel mascara (love their other products) ...it's very nice for natural days/work week. Not very "glam" but hey, I work for a construction company! Glam is only needed on the weekends!! I give it "2 snaps-up"!!!
Hey kiehls have a new mineral mascara you should check it out, know what you mean for full lashes you need massive brush like urban decay big fatty mascara(cruelty free too.)
PotionPrincess♥
origins or estde lauder works greatif u get orgins get the all green tube and if u get estde lauder get the all blue tube
I get compliments all the time for my eyelashes and trust me if it werent for the little tricks i have to get them looking beautiful with these mascaras, they would literally look non-existent. First, I curl them then i put a coat of Physicians formula organic wear (Which i works great to thicken up the lashes) and then i put a few coats of 100 percent pure fruit pigmented mascara which i buy from qvc.com (this mascara works great at making my lashes look super long) I call this technique the sandwich technique because i finish it off with another coat from physicians formula. The result is, super thick long lashes that do not..i repeat do not look clumpy or like you are wearing too much mascara...I love it!! I got my friends to start doing this too and now we all have long thick lashes!!
Susana2001...your technique sounds like my next review!

I love your stories, they are very entertaining. I don't know of any natural mascaras, but I had lots of fun reading your story. Thanks for the review.
I haven't tried any natural mascaras either. I was going to try some from the drugstore soon

I don't know if you've tried the L'oreal Bare Minerale mascara (I think that's the name). That's the mineral mascara I know.
I have and unfortunately I LIKED it...but the test on animals and that I just can't take so I have to ignore it. SO SAD.

I really want to try the Korres mascara and the Kiehl's. I have heard good things. But not much has been said on these two here, particularly on the Kiehl's. Unless, I missed something. I think that SAG should review them and give us the scoop.
I bought the Korres mascara today, and so far I really like it. I've been wearing it all day, and it's doing better than my Too Face Lash Injection. I've hear that the Kiehl's mascara clumps.
I'm blessed with full lashes so I don't know what kind you should use. (I'm also German/Welsh)I do know my MomMom swears by Maybelline's mascara...the one in the pink tube. Her lashes are thinning and she always looks great with this mascara.
By natural do you mean natural looking? If so, I looooove mark. Make it Big lengthening/thickening mascara. It's got a HUGE brush that you kind of have to get used to, but once you do it's amazing. It never dries out or flakes (I always have issues with mascara doing that) and it lengthens and thickens but not so much that you can tell it's fake. It comes in Espresso (brown) and Raven (black) -- I have both. I use the Espresso for when I want a much more natural look (I have lighter hair and eyes) and the Raven when I want a dramatic look! The best part is it's only $6.50! =]You can check it out here: http://tinyurl.com/larawd Before I found the mark. mascara, I used to use the Maybelline mascara that kedavis03 (above this comment) mentioned-- pink tube, green lid/wand I think, right? The mark. is just as good if not better. lovelovelove it
does anyone even KNOW what goes into making mascara? doesn't kiehl's make a somewhat natural mascara. it probably costs quite a pretty penny tho.
I'm still looking for a natural-vegan mascara, I will have to check out Gabriel Cosmetics. I know this is an old post but I am definitely wanting to check out this mascara and some of the others that the ladies have mentioned, thank you so much!
