LOREAL EVERPURE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONERS!
It’s Wednesday’s Body Beautiful with Jeanasina coming to you LIVE from the re-vamped, state-of-the-art, new and improved, gloriously informative, Megsmakeup!
I received an e-mail from L’Oreal entitled “Beauty on a Budget”. “Find out which of our products are beauty award winners…” I went directly to the NEW shampoo and conditioner they were featuring exclusively for color treated hair which was the new EverPure Sulfate-Free Color Care System! They have 3 categories for this new line which has about 5 options of products within each particular hair desirability factor to use to either moisturize, volumize and/or smooth your color treated hair! I decided to look into the smoothing products; the shampoo and conditioner! The product line strongly suggests you use the complimentary products TOGETHER for optimal results! That's just what I am doing!
I have been using Pureology – by far the best shampoo and conditioner I have ever used for my ba-zillion year old colored blonde locks which was HIGHLY recommended buy my current hair stylist professional! I love the Pureology smell and I loved the way it has changed the condition of my frazzeled hair but I DO NOT love the price! When I saw that the L'oreal EverPure line was sulfate free and that many reviews I read on other websites RAVED about this shampoo (especially former Pureology fan-club presidents) I decided to try this tonight! I went to Target on my lunch hour (they actually had this new product mixed in with the more expensive known name brands Target carries rather than in the 'inexpensive' section where the other shampoos under $10.00 reside. I chose the ‘smoothing’ line shampoo and conditioner ($6.99 each) and now,we are going to have a hand’s on experience with this new product! Velcro on your terry cloth wraparound and let’s get this hair washing party started!
Heading down to the basement to the black crusty washtubs that represent my hair experimentation lab headquarters! I share these wash tubs with the sea hag laundry lady who spends a lot of time down there muttering under her breath as she washes and folds laundry. Everybody always says that old battle axe and I could be twins. As if!
Finished part one - shampooing with the L'oreal EverPure Sulfate-Free Color Care System SMOOTH SHAMPOO and my first though was "Wow! Interesting smell!" which is listed as 'Rosemary Juniper". The sleek shiny pale lavender tube it comes in has an orange cap and the writing on the tube is in grey and orange in microscopic font size that only ants are able to read using ant sized reading glasses! Why do they do that? We want to know about our products and trying to read that itsybitsy writing on the tube in impossible to read color combinations probably has caused blindness or at the least migraines! If I ever make a product it's going to have writing for the visually impaired who can read it from clear across the room! I digress.
The EverPure lathered up like a dream and when I rinsed it out I found my hair to already be de-snarled and I could run my fingers right through it!
Next, L'oreal EverPure Sulfate-Free SMOOTH CONDITIONER! I left it on for about 10 minutes and then rinsed it out. By now I'm thinking...not sure if I am enjoying the fragrance (this one is Rosemary Mint). When I removed the towel from my head, my hair fell loosely out and wasn't all snarled up which was a good thing! My comb went right through my golden locks and this was without adding any extra products! Pretty remarkable!
I got out my fierce cheap-ass blow dryer which doesn't have a nice directional spout, it just blows the hell out of my hair much like wind tunnel fans and again, WITHOUT putting any other product in my hair (these are TRUE conditions here) I began the process of drying while alternately using my flattest brush on each section of my wet hair! It went really well, and each section I dried definitely looked SMOOTH and soft! I finished drying my entire head using this method and when I stepped back to take a look at the finished product I said into the mirror..."Well Hello Nicollet Sheridan!" My hair looks pretty amazing! I next tried my flat iron on it and it just glided on down each hair section! It's really smooth to the touch and my fingers don't stop to play with the fuzzy ends because right now there aren't any when I run them through my hair, which I can't stop doing. I can still smell my hair however...It's got long lingerability potential!
The tube it says 100% Vegan! Haven't seen that statement before on a hair product! If you want to read more regarding the ingredients - well good luck with that honey! Whoever designed the product is laughing his head off somewhere knowing nobody without a super bionic eye will EVER be able to read the ingredients!
I'll have to continue using this and get back to you on how long term use goes and whether it's really great in locking in and maintaining the quality of my color. I also want to see if it's drying or has any adverse effects. L’oreal has gotten on the sulfate-free bandwagon! I think this is one of the first affordable shampoo/conditioner products to do this! I'll leave you with the helpful hint that if you want to just 'try' this product line you can go to the Lorealparisusa.com website and click on 'hair care" then "hair care brands" then "everpure" then click on 'free sample' (you will have to sign up for their website) but you CAN get a free sample of this new product - you can choose from the 3 types! If you can't wait 22 weeks for that to come in the mail (LOL!) you can buy the products at Target or Walgreens!
Who else has tried Loreal Everpure Products? What did you think?

I have to say, you are much prettier than Nicollet.... Perfectly timed review. I want to make healthier hair care choices but I am reluctant. I'm afraid my super fine hair needs all those sulfates to look half way decent. Do you think this line would be too much for that hair type? BTW, that same sea hag lives with me too, not very friendly is she?
I also tried the L'Oreal Everpure line and it left my hair too dry so I tried the Organix shea butter shampoo and I like it a lot better. I already have dried out menopausal hair (and skin) so it did not work very well for me at all.
I have been using the L'oreal EverPure in Smooth and Soft for about 3 weeks, on and off. For me it is only so-so. My hair is root colored (to cover the gray) naturally wavy, past my shoulders and has a tendency to get frizzy, fly away and very tangled. I have been trying to find products that are more organic. Having absolutely no luck with the Organics, WEN and Vitamin line of hair care products, I saw this and thought, "What the heck, lets give it a shot." I started with the Smooth and Soft, simply because my local Wal-Mart has just started to stock this product and the Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner were already sold out. This product is way better than Organics, WEN and Vitamin line were, but just not quite what I wanted my hair too look like. I am going to try the EverPure Moisturizing set and see how it does.
Jeanasina, my local Wal-Mart sells the product for $4.99 a bottle.
As this story continues…I used the L’Oreal shampoo and conditioner again last night and I have to say on the negative side that I too, unfortunately, find this combination to be drying. This 2nd time that I tried it I found that my hair was experiencing more straw like behavior and I can see that if I continue to use it…I’ll turn into Fried Frita with bone dry hair! I also really dislike the mint and rosemary combination of the conditioner, however, the rosemary and juniper of the shampoo was really refreshing! I wanted to like it all and my first try gave me hope as indicated (my hair definitely felt super smooth after first try) but today I have the two vials of these L’Oreal products tucked into my ‘return to sender’ bag and will be headed to Target’s return emporium over my lunch hour. StyleMama, I’d have to say “Don’t go there with this shampoo”, let’s wait and find something that will knock your beautiful socks off. YOU are so beautiful lady! New photos are awesome! There is a reason that some products cost more…they usually ARE better! Plumper, I’ll have to check out the Organix shea butter shampoo you mentioned! When I told my Harley Man of my latest exploration into seeking out something less expensive than my beloved Pureology he said “Next time..just let me buy it for you so you don’t have to try to get by with something less than something you know works for you.” He is a firm believer that you if find something that works – why look for something else? As he said to me…”If it ain’t broke – don’t fix it!” He pointed out to me that I am adamant about the skin products I use no matter the cost – I won’t settle for less so why would I settle for something less in my shampoo choices when I already know what I love and what works for me! Good point!
Jeanasina!
I am not sure if anything will sway me from my beloved Pureology! I've been using the Hydrate line and it has kept my colored hair so soft and smooth. I am also a big fan of Keratase (which I think is made by L'Oreal as well). But, both are very pricey, but I love what they do for my hair. In the shampoo/conditioner dept, it's hard to settle for less. :)
I am hooked on Pureology....but right now can't afford it, I have just run out...today and was going to tey the L'Oreal EverPure, but after Jenasina's latest review I am sad...whats a girl to do now? I will stay stuned...
BTW JenasinaI agree that you are way prettier than Nicolette!! And I am loving your hair... ;-). I think I am going to have to skip out on food this week and get my Pureology...lol.
I've actually been using the Moisture line for about a month now, and I love it! I have fine hair (but I have a lot of it) that's colored and pretty damaged, and I started this just after I got my hair professionally colored. The fading has been minimal, and I find my hair to be soft, smooth, and bouncy without blow-drying (then again, I never blow-dry my hair! My poor T3 is neglected). I love the rosemary and mint scent as well- it reminds me of my childhood. When I was little, we had an Italian next door neighbor named Mario who grew herbs and tomatoes in his back yard. He used to let me come back and help him pick them, and then he'd let me take some of the ripe tomatoes home for me to snack on; so rosemary and mint have pretty positive memories associated with them. I did experience the straw-like feeling once or twice, just after I started, but seeing as I had no other shampoo/conditioner, I continued to use them and the "straw" went away. I think it was just my hair adjusting to the no-sulfate TLC!
I am totally afraid that it would leave my hair to try. I had been using Halo for a year and I switched to Biolage extra moisturizing. My hair is definitely less dry now but its been getting greasy much quicker which interrupts my only wash 2 maybe 3 times a week routine. So i'm back ot Halo for now. Plus they always are having Buy 2, Get 1 free at Ulta and I can't resist!

Jeanasina...girl I love your posts, they crack me up!! You are such a cutie! Reading this post makes me want to rush to shampoo my hair. I haven't tried any of these products. Pureolgy sounds interesing though. On a side note for stylemama, love your new profile pic...beautiful as ever and your loyal companion looks like a sweetheart. See ya girls!
awful!
I have been using the Moisture line for 1-2months. I love it! I have thick, naturally curly hair. It can tend to be oily. This stuff makes it so soft and manageable. My hair colorist can hardly believe how little the color has faded. It really helps to keep your color. And the bonus is that it smells great. My husband loves it!
I still have to boycott L'Oreal for animal testing but any drying properties for me would be a nightmare with my coarse and curly hair. Still sticking with Jessicurl right now as nothing has been quite as moisturizing as her products. No dry hair blues there and lots of natural ingredients. She rocks!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
Wow, they test on animals? I doubt I'll ever buy their products again!!!!! I myself own two dogs and the thought of anyone testing anything on them *shudders*
I've been thinking about this line ever since I heard about its launch. I already have some s&c, so I won't be rushing out to get this until that's used up.
I have really curly hair, (see photos for proof!) and it's dry on the ends and oily at the roots. I used Wen and really liked it, but I used like 30 pumps to "wash" every day and then 2 as conditioner and I went through a bottle that was supposed to last two months in like two weeks. Well, I don't remember the exact details, but the point is I went through it really fast. It was very expensive and the results that I got were not worth the huge amount of money I would have to spend to use it every day. Then I used Jessicurl and LOVED it. I ordered her sample kit and it wasn't enough to really get a long term trial in. But it worked really well and the price was right for the results. It's just such a pain to wait on it. And I tried to contact by e-mail several times to ask a question and never could get through. Which is unfortunate, but I really should try again because even though the conditioner I used for the fine hair wasn't all that great, the Too Shea! was fantastic! It reminded me of the Wen, but better because a little goes a long way and the price was much less. I also loved the shampoo. After using it, my hair wasn't as snarly as it normally is after using a drugstore shampoo. Though it was more snarly than it is after I use conditioner. Vexy says it works great for her fine, wavy hair and kellie says it works great on her oily-ish curly hair, so maybe since mine has aspects of both ladies' hair it will work on me too? I hope!
I went ahead and gave the Smooth Shampoo & Cont. a try, and so far on day 3 I love it! I am ahuge fan of Pureolgy...but not the price so I went for it. And my hair is smooth, looks softer, and flat iron's like a champ! I am happy to say this def. works for me!!
i gave it a shot - still in my shower and hoping hubby will take to it. i love the smell but it doesn't last and it does dry my hair - although by double conditioning and then biosilk it's ok but who wants to go to all that extra time? not me - that's why i have such short hair. i bought the smoothing set but unfortunately it doesn't hold a candle to biolage. i've not tried pureology as i've been happy for years where i am but with all the talk of it i think i will. as far as i'm concerned - while certainly economical at the register it's a waste of money. keep at it l'oreal - you're at least trying.
I love this stuff. I got the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, and although the smell is a little 'eh', the result is fabulous. I typically do NOT buy drugstore quality S&C, but this stuff really won me over. My hair is soft and silky, shiny, and has healthy volume. I really can't complain about $7 S&C that actually does a good job at making my hair look lovely.
I love the Loreal Smoothing S & C. I used Pureology in the past but did not like the high price. I tried this after seeing it in InStyle magazine. The product is 100% vegan and they do not test on animals which I love. For the price it is worth trying it. I also use the moisture leave-in conditioner and the UV protecting spray. Everything in this line has been great.
I do not like this stuff. I may be the only one but I stand firm. Yes my hair looked great but that isn't quite enough for this maven. It smells like Sargent's herbal dog shampoo! My grandmother used on her pooches for years and I will not be using it on my head. Well, that and it has mineral oil in it. I am a firm believer that mineral oil is for machinery and not me.
So I bought it. I tried it. I hate the smell. I have the Moisturizing kind (I think) and the scent is rosemary and juniper and it is just no good for me. I normally like kind of herbal scents, but this one just... p-u! The shampoo works really well. My hair feels clean but not stripped, so that part delivers as promised. The conditioner is horrible. It felt like I was stripping my hair of any moisture that was left in it by the shampoo. I had to put some other conditioner on after the Loreal just so I'd have a little softness in my hair! Then, the scents clashed and it was a big mess. So I quit using the conditioner after the first try. I kept using the shampoo, but I'm returning the conditioner. It's a little pricey for the s&c together for a drugstore brand, but you're paying for what's not in the product. I would not buy again. I'll go order some lovely scented Jessicurl and be happy with that.
I'm a devoted disciple of Jessicurl! It has allowed me to allow my crazy curly hair to have its own way. I'm through with trying to make it something it's not. At least for now - I've been known to change my mind. Anyway, thanks to Jessicurl, my hair actually looks great. And the Island Fantasy fragrance makes me swoon. For those who don't want to wait on delivery, there's another option. Sephora has started to carry a line called No Frizz. Since I'm always looking for the Holy Grail, I bought the styling lotion and love it too! I like the scent of Jessicurl better, but this stuff works too. Carole

Went out and bought this product yesterday and tried it for the first time this morning. It lathers great, love the smell, I ran my fingers right through it. Toweled dry it, same the brush ran right through it. Great until I blow dry it, my hair didn't feel as full and bouncy and as clean as Pureology hydrate or Giovani smooth. It was flat and kind of felt oily or dirty. Ugh...I was very dissapointed. and yes the smell does linger for while at least I do like how it smells. I will give this another try and if it's not better I will have to return it and splurge on Pureology. Like Jeanasina said if you find something that works we should stick to it. Pureology here I come with my whole paycheck! ;-)
I haven't tried this line of Loreal products before. I've heard nothing but good things about this line. And I've heard it really helps to lock in color for a good while. Next time I dye my hair I'm going to try this.
yet another thing i need to stock up on

BOO!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried this stuff, and it was not that impressive. As far as cheap brands go, it is not bad. However, when they are trying to be natural by ditching harsh sulfates and by being vegan, they create an expectation that they do not come close to fulfilling. These products have mineral oil, propylene glycol (some petroleum based ingredient), and parabens. Their natural ingredients are at the END of the ingredient list. Now, I do admit that I still use some products with parabens and the like, but a product called EverPure that is going for that natural image should try a little harder.I have not been won over.
A few weeks ago, I got a full size tube of each (moisturizing) from a magazine panel I am on. I was sceptical as I don't use Loreal and was happy with my shampoo and conditioner (L'OCCITANE Aromachology), but decided to give it a try. Now, a few days before, I colored my hair at home, which normally I am happy with, I went to beauty school years ago and am pretty good at color. I had used a shade I had used in the past, and had been happy with. But, this time, yuch. It was a home kit (Clairol) that claimed to have dimensional color, but, this time, it seemed very one dimensional, and I was trying to decided what to do next. Anyway, I used the Everpure and WOW. I couldn't believe it. First, I LOVE the scents of both the shampoo and conditioner. Second, it left my hair very soft and totally tangle free (amazing!) But, the biggest difference was the way it just seemed to turn my hair on! My husband noticed it instantly when he came home - he asked how I had time that day to go get my haircolor fixed!!!!! It totally brought out shine and dimension. I have been using it daily since, and have had only minimal fade, if any. Actually for three weeks since color my hair looks grand. I really love EverPure and will be rebuying this!
i tried the Rosemary Mint Mask for Hair and it is simply amazing. Hair feels so silky after it and I enjoy the scent too
I've always been partial to most L'oreal shampoos and conditioners compared to other drugstore brands. I don't color my hair, though, so this line is apparently not for me.I don't like all of the sulfates they had in their older lines, so I did stop using even occasionally a few years ago. I hope they come out with a similar sulfate-free line for those of us with natural locks.
is this high quality? should i spend the money on the entire line in order to get the full results...i am just so iffy about regular store brands.
j.baby
No, it is not high quality. Look at the ingredient list. It is better than a lot of other drugstore brands, but not that great when compared to all of the other options out there.
Jaccijo12 - I am really impressed with the quality of this line. I haven't been one for regular store brands and am amazed at how much I love this.
i haven;t tried this line but am looking for a new line to test other than dove and pantene i heard your hair gets used to certain products and i can't imagine ever outgrowing my fave top 2!

I got samples of this product, pretty nice, although my hair isn't colored.
Wasn't impressed after using it for 3 weeks :(
I havent seen these befoee, i dont think they are out in the uk yet....i will be keeping my eyes peeled they sound lovely!

Horrible! I'm shocked! I just entered the ingredients of the everpure shampoo into the cosmetic database and it came back as an 8! And yet they are marketing it as sulfate free and trying to target consumers who are concerned with ingredients. This is a disgrace. I'm thoroughly disgusted!
I tested this shampoo/conditioner set when one of my roommates at my study abroad stint last year had it, and I immediately did NOT like it! I felt that although they are touted as being pure that they are made of same ingredients as "lower grade" haircare products and ended up drying out my sensitive hair!
I have Volume shampoo and conditioner. I love the scent.
I haven't tried the entire line, but I did try the moisturizing shampoo and wow. I'm a naturally curly gal so I limit how often I shampoo, I hate how it dries out my hair. When I used Everpure my hair felt soft immediately after rinsing, before I even conditioned. I have never had that sort of result with any shampoo, so getting it from a shampoo I picked up at the drugstore is awesome. This stuff lathers like crazy, its a rich sort of creamy lather. I highly recommend this.

MAKEUP from Loreal is beautiful!
As soon as I saw this review I knew I had to speak up. I have to assume that if you are interested in this product it is due to it's alleged "pure" and "sulfate-free" nature. I am, personally, very committed to being as chemical-free and organic as I can be (not perfect but trying) and I would like to point out that the excellent lathering quality of EverPure products is a HUGE red flag. As all organic product lovers everywhere can attest to, it is sulfates that provide the excellent lathering qualities of cleansing products. Let's mosy over to the (hard to see) ingredient section of our EverPure Rosemary Juniper Shampoo, shall we? What do we find here? Both sodium lauryl sulfoacetate and disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, you say? Pure indeed, says this pure product loving gal (with sarcasm firmly in hand). Let me just say that due to a couple of nasty autoimmune diseases, I have what is now thinning, easily matted, highly breakable hair. I need as few chemicals as possible in my products and so this product is offensive to me. If anyone else out there feels as I do, I urge you to go directly to Jason Jojoba Shampoo which really is sulfate free and is the only thing I will put on my hair (though I am always on the lookout for others that I can trust). It helps. And that means the world to people like me.
I love this shampoo! My hair is colour treated and it's fine (actually sparse is more like it) and I've never had a problem with it weighing down my hair. My hair is shiny and very manageable. I will definitely repurchase!
I got these recently (the green bottles), and I dislike the smell. It's not a gross smell or a particularly unpleasant smell or a chemically smell; it's just not the coconut or fruity type of smell that I'd like it to be. The products seem to work okay for me, but I really haven't noticed that they protect my color any more than other shampoos/conditioners. I seem to have to use a lot of conditioner before it feels like I've conditioned my hair enough. I would use these if they were free, but I don't think I'd repurchase.
Nothing...Nada....Zero....Poopy!!! cant find a drugstore brand that's worth a damn! wish i could. also, organic/healthstore brands dont suds up enough and makes me crazy!!! i end up using half a bottle to feel like my head is clean!! what the heck?!!For the strangest reason the expensive stuff makes my head ich!! Pureology, etc...others have suffered the same fate. i can still handle, however, fekkai glossing products but YIKES! the pricing is outrageous! i alternate back and forth and make sure i skip a day in between (saves on products, my color time in between, and water for the fishies!!!) havent tried organix yet, but i;m sure i will hoping for a miracle....one can be hopeful, cant they? your eternal optimist,lizzy- the princess!
i never used this product. but i would love to get a free sample of this to try!
Def want this!
loreal is the best! :D

I have never used this but I think my friend has. She really thinks its great and she likes the smell of it =)
Tried these and didnt like them
