THE BALM! DOWN BOY BLUSH/SHADOW!
So many men! So little time...
Goddess Granny here! and I definitely echo (and live!) this sentiment which is also printed around the cute lil' mirror inside the fabulous packaging created by "the Balm" to present one of their latest shadow/blush products...
I am reading a very cool book: "Simply Irresistible" by Ellen T White. It's not your typical "how to be gorgeous" or "what not to be seen wearing" book but a juicy and beautifully researched and written volume which basically describes how some of THE most captivating and memorable women in the world did and do what they were best at in order to better themselves in many arenas.I am loving it and I hadn't realized how many and how incredible some of these "self-created sirens" out there through history and currently. The author herself is mesmerising in that she writes in a way that all women can learn from and enjoy, I highly suggest that you check it out if you ever had an inkling that you wanted to be a bit more dangerous, unforgettable, or just more fascinating in general!
One of the "items of seduction" that I am finding mentioned over and over is the use of "rouge": "To be sallow,"according to Coco Chanel " is to offend your bed-mate!" she always kept a pot of rouge near her bedside to apply immediately upon waking. Can you imagine?Throughout history, women have resorted to using everything from toxic substances to henna to pinching their cheeks and everything else possible to insure that they'd have that "glow" supposedly SOappealing and youthful to a love interest,I suspect in an attempt to mimic the one that "true love" aka hot monkey sex with a fun partner produces? ;)
I for one am sallow and fair and honestly am not a big "blush person" because most of them just seem to sit on top of my skin making me looking more like "Leppo the Freak Clown" than to add a hint of color that enhances my allure...admitting that I was a skeptic prior to application.
theBalm is a fun and forward-thinking company run by some exceptional people with cool cosmetic sense and I have tried several of their products with good results in the past. I LOVE the presentation of this product and it will surely create a buzz in the ladies room when you pull it out,it's so very cute! The compact holds a single shade of peony-pink and plush powder so finely milled I thought it was a cream until I tried to smear some on and it went all wonky on me.Use a brush for best results.
It's the color of a classic rose: a contagious, flattering girly-girl and ravishing beauty-queen pink, a baby-bottom pure pink, that makes no excuses for being perfect! I didn't detect much of a "glimmer or shimmer" to it although it does reflect the light.Paraben-free (always a plus!) and absolutely singular in that it creates a fierce and believable blush wherever it's applied instantly brightening your complexion! I didn't like it personally as a shadow on me, too pink to be used for most occasions but on the face? It's a walk in the cold, a sleigh-ride in Central Park, a day on the beach, and in general a fabulous and easy way for even a hot house lily with pasty skin like me to look like she's one of those women who have afternoon delights frequently!
I think it would be amazing on 95% of the women out there, it's that simple and special!
We could probably all use a few more "siren-seduction" skills these days to my way of thinking and I think that "Down Boy" is a product that that promises great results with little effort!
Do you think that rouge has the power not only to guild that lily but to be a woman's best accessory besides her arm-candy?
What do you lovelies think of Down Boy? Did it make you pant? Buy It Here!

I agree that this is a very flattering pink color that gives a natural flushed look. I also really liked the texture of the blush, however I would NOT recommend using this as an eye shadow unless you want to look like you have a very bad case of pink eye!
I constantly look like I'm blushing or sunburnt so blushes and me don't mix. However, I gifted this OH SO PRETTY pink to a friend with peaches and cream skinand it looks FAB on her. Soft, subtle and not sparkly I loved it on her. I lovesparkle on the eyes but not on the cheeks. And I JUST LOVE the packaging. OH SO cute too! I look forward to more of their products. Balm ON!!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
I am a fan of blush and bronzer. I found this blush perfect for my skin. It went of nice, lasted the full day and washed off easily before bed. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good pink blush.

This looks yummy, but I find my own cheeks look best when they are kissed with coral rather than pink. Right now my favorite is Laura Mercier's illuminating powder quad in Coral Red. But this looks to good not to try, try again. I'll bite.
Like Kate, I too sing the song of love for TheBalm!!! This blush looks gorgeous and with your blessing, I've gotta get it!
Now, I've been a tried and true The Balm addict for quite some time now. I love the Sexy Mama Transluscent Powder, the Stainiacs, the TimeBalm concealer. But I saw the PINK color of the Downboy and I had my doubts. Colors like that usually look chalky and "painted on" on me. But wow, this color is so pretty and natural and can be blended well with a nice soft brush. I love it!

I loved the packaging but wasn't too crazy about the shade of pink. I used it a few times and felt it didn't last as long as most others which surprised me. It was also a little too sparkly for me. I don't think I would use it again but it's something I can see a young crowd going for.
Let me start by saying that blush and I have a complicated relationship. Like Goddess Granny, I find it difficult to find colors and textures that look pretty and natural on me. When I paired this with subtle, natural looking eye make up it was quite pretty. I thought it complimented my light Italian, somewhat ruddy complexion. However, I don't think it would suit a heavy smokey eye, too bright and too pink. It has a lovely, fine-milled texture with beautiful light reflecting properties. I like that it was sparkle-free. I don't care for sparkly cheeks......... facial cheeks that is! But, I do like a blush that appears lit from within-this did. I always appreciate a magnetic closure in a mirrored compact-very handy. It didn't work for me as an eye shadow, but pink shadow never has. Either way, I think this would look great on most people as long as it's applied with a light hand. Overall, a great product.
I was really impressed with this blush, both in texture and color! It gave me the most natural pink blush I have seen on myself in years! I just need to be careful and remember a little is plenty. The first day I used it, I was OVER THE TOP in the blushing department and had to laugh at myself. It had staying power though because even though I attempted to ‘tissue’ it off at work - it remained just where it was giving me a blushing bride glow all day! Can’t see myself using it as a shadow though - too pink for my eyes. I thought the packaging was really cute - love the images and the colors! I had it sitting on my desk at work and found that several of the women walking by had their eye drawn to the adorable packaging immediately and they would say something like “Oouuuuuuu! What’s that! Let me see that?” and one guy said “Downboy??? What do you have there?” I just smiled and let him think I’m delving into some secret world that I wasn’t about to share with him at that moment! The one other thing I will say is that if you carry it in your purse, you need to be sure to always put the compact back into its snug little matching sleeve or else you might find the light packaging might catch on something like a fingernail file or your diary and manage to pry itself open and then you have a pink purse travesty in the works! The lid does have a bit of a magnetic pulling factor to connect the lid with the actual blush product but the ‘pull’ can be broken easily so I’d just be careful of that little factor. The container has more of a cardboard feel than the usual heavy duty plastic type packaging on most compacts so how it stays shut in your purse is a factor for me! If I were to sing a song with revised lyrics about this product I’d sing...”I kissed my cheeks with DOWNBOY shadow/blush and I liked it!
Jeanasina!

The color of this blush is amazing. I'm a self-proclaimed rouge whore. I didn't actually start wearing blush until about 5 years ago, but since then I can't get enough. I have way too much blush, and pink is my passion. I also am a big lover of all things retro and the packaging is very retro looking. The pink looks like a pink that could be my new best friend.
This blush look absolutely lovely. I want to go to the store and buy me one now!!
as a cheaper alternative jane blushes are also great, and they only cost a couple of dollars. i have the blushing petal and blushing blossom and both produce a beautiful natural flush on my pale cheeks!
i absolutely love the products with funny and cute catchy sayings!!! love it! :)

The packaging is gorgeous! I rarely wear pink shades of blush but this seems to be a wearable one.
I love theBalm and only bought this cause I am an addict, I didn't know about the color, but, agree, it is such a perfect color. And it wears well. Just a perfect blush.
i always find that summer bronzers work as perfect blushes for me but this is a good color to try out

Oh I just have to throw in my 2c - thanks to Stylemama, I got my very own thebalm Down Boy blush - and on my complexion it's just fabulous. Usually I have people commenting on how tired I look lately - with this fab pink, everyone was going on about how great I was looking. Big thumbs up from me. And thanks again, Dawn (((HUGS)))

I love the balm down boy blush, I use my bronzer to contour and this blush I use just on the apples of my cheeks where the sun hits, and it has a very natural "flushed" look.
whoah looks gorgeous! I love the timebalm concealer from this brand!!
i prefer benefit's dandelion powder! or maybe the georgia one. although im not sure if that ones glittery/shiny
Out of all my blushes I reach for a pale matte pink from Everyday Minerals the most, Nick Nack. As much as a like colour from my other blushes sometimes I just feel like it is screaming "I am wearing blush!!" A soft matte pink gives a natural flush and makes my face look brightened.
I'm a sucker for cute packaging
The coloring of Down Boy is so pretty! It's perfect to create a great barely-there blush look.

i dunno if this colour would work on me..but its a really pretty pink/rose
pretty color but not for tan skin
Very cute packaging! Nice color! Great blush! I have actually used this but when i tried to use it for an eyeshadow the results were less than desirable. It made me look like i had been crying and around my eyes were pink from it. but i love it as a blush
the color looks very artificila to me (:i don't think i'd wear it..
I love the blush color, very soft and pretty. It seems like a blush though . . . doesn't seem like an eyeshadow color.
