YES TO CARROTS FIVE-PIECE KIT!
Gigi here! What's up, doc? If you live in most of the country, it's definitely not the weather. With temperatures plummeting to record-breaking numbers, I've actually found myself in my warm, well-insulated home, dreading my usual joy of a daily shower (what-I'm supposed to undress now?). Not a second passes that I'm not re-applying lip balm. When it came to choosing a product to review, moisturizers beckoned to me at Walgreen's, despite the excess I own. Thus I succumbed once more-but it's all good. No, it's amazing!
Some items of Say Yes to Carrots™ have been reviewed in prior years on Green Chi Tuesdays (forgive me, sweetassgal, as I defer to your organic knowledge and talent!), but this line is blooming. I promise that I didn't steal the idea from macgirl, our clever contest winner who lists their hand and elbow cream as her favorite!
Try it you'll love it! I promise!

Reviews
Well...I have to say I was intrigued with the entire “Yes to Carrots” extravaganza of products and spent an entire day researching all of their products about a month ago to see if they would indeed beckon to me, which, after reading a couple of informational product descriptions, they indeed did! I was looking for yet another positively SURE thing product to moisturize my heavily colored hair so I read their website and tons of reviews out in the netherlands of internet land and thought maybe I was on to something! Prior to my research I had observed the ‘Carrots’ product display which was almost hidden and very quietly displayed in a teeny section of shelving located at just above my eye level within my neighborhood Walgreens. Another day when I was in Target I observed an itsy bitsy amount of shelf space devoted in their cosmetic area to this product. Anyway...as our story continues after reading all the material on the website about the hair line products they carry I decided I would better be served by their “Say Yes To Cucumbers!” line. The ‘Yes To Cucumbers’ hair care range “contains organic fruits and vegetables and Dead Sea Minerals especially formulated to protect your COLOR TREATED hair.” That’s me - MAJOR COLOR TREATMENTS FOR THE PAST 30-40 YEARS! This sounded great! I was thinking - “I WANT TO PUT THAT ON MY HAIR!” I know this is a review about ‘Yes to Carrots’ but I had to tell you about my experience with their vegetable sister in the Cucumber family - it’s like a family reunion so everybody can be represented here. They all come from the same clan. So...I bought both the Cucumber shampoo and the Cucumber conditioner and immediately went home for a wash and condition under the guidance of my familiar fingers and thought the shampoo smelled pretty fresh and observed that the comb through was not bad either and so I used it for a few weeks. After a few times I asked my boyfriend how he thought my hair smelled thinking he’d be intoxicated and want to spend some time there inhaling freshness but he said he couldn’t smell anything. Dang! My final observation was...on the plus side...this shampoo made my hair really really SHINY! Yay for that! But the dryness factor...if anything I thought the hay like quality was becoming amplified by this product, sadly. When a horse approached my head and looked like he wanted to chow down a nice mouthful of my hair, I got to thinking maybe the cucumber products are not working as well as I had hoped. I think personally that you need to pay more for good quality hair shampoo and conditioner IF you have hair which has been overextended in the harshness department, which I later did (paid a lot more for reputable color treated hair shampoo and conditioner), and now my hair feels fantastic! I bought a couple of the carrot for lips for both my Harley Man and myself to try but neither of us was wowed and we still love Burts the best! And that’s the way it was for a woman in Minnesota when she reached out to the Vegetable people. I will give a ton of YESSSSes to their website however and all that they are trying to accomplish! Well done and impressive as well as fun!
Jeanasina!
I love this brand!! Check out my blog at www.beautifuliq.wordpress.comBeautiful|IQ. Live Smart. Be Beautiful.
After reading the review of the trial set, I immediately went to my local Walgreens. For some unknown reason they had theshampoo and conditioner on sale for $1.99 EACH! I tried them and was very happy! I have color treated, somewhat damagedhair and this worked beautifully. My hair felt good and smelled fresh. I can't wait to try the other products!
Here I am again passing through..I did mean to mention that I did stick my nose into all the vials and containers of the "Yes to Carrots" skin creams and remembered that I did think the smell was nice! I'll have to revisit the skin creams again later after reading all the positive comments! As to being affordable that they are! My favorite and MOST affordable lotion consistently remains St. Ives Swiss Formula Collagen Elastin - I don't think I have even paid $5.00 for this large pump bottle I always get! I'm sold on it and I love that it absorbs and smells light and clean. As to my final processed hair shampoo find..I am now using Pureology Serious Colour Care! My latest hairdresser recommended it and I can see why! I got the antifade complex which is also in the the Hydrating line! Pureology smells are potent and might not be for everybody but they kind of make my scalp tingle and the shampoo lathers up fabulously. They made a HUGE difference in the texture and quality of my hair. My hairdresser is in love with all three formulas they make and couldn't tell me enough great things about them! The bottles say they are "organicBotanicals 100% Vegan!" They run about $26.00 a bottle! Don't tell my Harley man - he shaves his head and doesn't have to spend a dime on shampoo - it might send him over the edge to know how much I spend on my shampoo and conditioner!
Jeanasina!
Great pick Gigi! I'm with you (and macgirl..she does know her stuff!) I discovered this through a friend. I had never heard of it before that. She had the hand and elbow creme. Once I tried it, I couldn't imagine life without it! I then rushed to Walgreens to view a very impressive variety of the carrots line. I understand there may be more upscale higher end products, but not everyone can always afford them. It's good to know there are still quality products at more affordable prices for the times when you need a quick beauty product fix and are limited on funds. I appreciate the link to join the club and the coupons. I'm always looking for a way to save on my beauty addiction. Thanks to you, I can now get more yes to add to my collection. I have the body shower gel, conditioner, and hand cream. LOVE them all! The smell is amazing! Thanks for your review! Good job!
I have to be very careful with the types of lotions and creams that I use. Tragic really because I adore bath time with all the various lotions and potions. I have KERATOSIS PILARIS on most of my body, yeah I know, I am a lucky lucky girl. LOL! The body butter is great! It's one of the many products I've used that has helped to soften those pesky little bumps caused by KP. It not only softens but it also reduces redness! (It's worth mentioning that it is pretty important to gently exfoliate daily to better control KP. For that I use my trusty Clarisonic brush coupled with any gentle or natural body wash.) As I have become more adept at reading labels I have discovered that my body really responds well to natural products much better than it does to their synthetic counterparts. NOTE TO GIGI: Try adding 100% pure Tea Tree Oil to Nizoral AD shampoo and then condition as you normally would. Mix approximately 1/4 teaspoon TTO to one heaping dollop of Nizoral AD. Make sure you leave the TTO/shampoo mixture on your scalp for at least 5 minutes. If you can't stand the thought of using Nizoral, you can add it to any clarifying shampoo or if you must...... add it to any of your salon quality shampoos for color treated hair. You wont like the texture of your hair immediately after rinsing BUT once you condition you are going to LOVE the way your locks look and feel!! My stylist tells me Nizoral AD is a great clarifying shampoo. I use this regimen twice a week and then go back to my high end hair care for the rest of the time. Works wonders ladies!
I say Yes to their shower gel, the only product I've tried thus far. Now I'll have to delve deeper into the line. As for color treated hair care, I confess to going first-cabin all the way: Kerastase Chroma Shampoo, with Terax Crema as a chaser. Expensive, yes, but worth it. My highlighted, fine hair is smooth as silk.
Oh thank you sooo much for reviewing this! Every time I walk into my Walgreen's I see their products and think to myself "I wish someone on Meg's would review these" because I haven't heard anything about them. Being as broke as I am, I don't really buy products unless they come recommended. Now I think I'm going to say yes to carrots! And jeanasina thank you for your input! I have to agree with you that the only way to go when it comes to shampoo and conditioner (if you have treated hair) is expensive. Drug store hair care has never cut it for me, although the price tags tempt me often. Oh and once my whole foot swelled up because I put face cream on it. (Haha, just kidding!)
Gigi...stay tuned for next Tuesdays Green Chi Tuesdays...I think I may a solutionto help with your hair to remove residue without stripping or causing excess oilproduction. I have to perfect the review but I'll be working on it through theweekend. Check back! Love to all!!!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
I agree w/the note to GIGI from stylemama. Tea tree is an antiseptic, it'll helpw/the oily. I have to admit that I fell pray to the hair conditioner addict that sometimeswhispers in my ear... you get free shipping on drugstore.com if you'll just spend$10 more... hair conditioner hair conditioner hair conditioner (drugstore.com is where i get the organic badger calendula oil for the baby's butt, and his hylands teething tablets & i always havta buy MORE for the free shipping otherwisei feel like i've been swindled)... okay... so i got their conditioner... thepampering hair mud conditioner. this was sight unsmelled... i will not do that again. HOW something all natural w/organic ingredients can smell sooooooo chemical... is beyond me. BUT... thankfully the flowery grandma powdery scent... doesnt lingerand i hate to admit it... BUT everytime i rotate and use it, my hair comes out nice and shiny and manageable (it's normally straight and healthy and long but sincei gave birth, there's all these "strays" and the texture is rougher so i NEED to really condition now)... so.. do i like yes to carrots... nodo i use the conditioner occassionally with nice results YESand i still think you can buy organic shea butter ($5 at mountainroseherbs dot com) and organic coconut oil (again... maybe $5)...mix em together, and use it everywhereand call it a moisturizing miracle that'll last you AGES (and incidentally it's working winter wonders on my skin these days)...
My head swims in Walgreens readin gall the labels,LOL!They DO try to be helpful but I'm never very impressed because I'm simply overwhelmed by all their coices! Will give this a second look now and I agree that "higher quality" shampoo and such is a must have for color processed...I am loving the "Halo"line for color treated hair and trust me,mine sure is,LOL! And I still swear by the "Jessicurl" conditioner!
The lip balm looked great and for 2 dollars I might have to make the trip out to get some. Or I could just wait for it to go on sale....
The hand and elbow moisturizing cream is really great. I really like the texture. It is not sticky. It really sinks in and moisturizes. My husband thinks that all lotion is sticky but he actually will use this. I even like the light but unusual scent. I totally recommend it.
The only thing I have tried from this line is some sort of oil. I think it was called carrot oil. i tried it back in high school. i didn't know quite what to do with it though. I just ended up using it as an organic healthy tanning oil of sorts. lol. But it left my skin feeling really smooth, and in my mind it felt like I was getting more vegetables fed into my body.
I really want to try their shampoo and conditioner. For once I'd like to try something organic on my hair.
The benefits of carots are ENDLESS we should all have a bottle of carot oil it's multitasking =)

I saw these on sale at walgreens. I wasn't sure if these were good or actually work so I didn't buy them. I will pick them up next time I go!
I tried the carrots shampoo. It was alright but not magically. However I've never found a shampoo that I absolutely loved.
I loved my Yes to Carrots lip balm, and this kit looks amazing! :)
Came across this product line a few weeks ago at Target and decided to try the elbow cream, I have seriously dry elbows and no matter what I use they are never soft! So I gave this a try and immediately fell in love! My elbows are still a little dry after using this, but this cream has worked wonders compared to everything else I have tried.
I have their hair masque and under-eye cream, and I love both of them!
i have a lip balm carrots and its great !Love the flavor and its very repair !for my fragile lips , it's perfectThx for the discovery

Gonna keep my eye out for this set!
Oooooooo ;)
great article! I'll watch out for this
The lip balm is the wonderful!!
Five piece kit looks interesting, perfect as a gift.
I bought a four piece kit for after Christmas last year for 75% off. The items were: shampoo, body wash, body butter and the hand and elbow creme. I loved the body butter and the hand creme, the others, meh, not so much. Actually, I cant say anything about the body wash because I gave it to my mother, along with the shampoo.
I really like all the Yes to Carrots products I've tried so far, so I'd definitely give this a shot.
