CAROLINA HERRERA 212 SEXY MEN COLOGNE! FIRST TIME REVIEWED BY A MAN! WELCOME LA FRED!
LAFRED here, So, I'm over at Meg's house a couple of weeks ago and we're drinking and smoking on her patio. Well, I was drinking and she was smoking since I gave that habit up a few years back. And since I had recovered my sense of smell in the interim, Meg likes to make me smell things. So, on this particular day, she jumps up, runs inside and returns with a bottle of 212 Sexy Men, insisting that I HAVE to try it and I HAVE to write a review.
I'm extremely particular about the scent I wear and my general impression of most chic cologne is that it reminds me of shiny, silver shirt wearing club rats with too many chains and an excess of chest hair.
Knowing I'm not likely to find it pleasant and, in an effort to get out of having to do any writing, I immediately spray a little on my arm to see what it's like. As I expected, my first impression was: player. Plus, it seemed to me to have a very talc-y smell to it. I waved my arm in another guest's face to get her opinion: talc and she said "definitely not you."
Score! I'm gonna get out of this yet. But Meg was not to be discouraged and forced me to take the bottle home.
So, after a few days procrastinating and sticking with my regular cologne, I decide to give the 212 a go in the real world. The bottle design is quite nice (I have the 3.4oz size) with a magnetic cap, but rather bulky for packing for travel. Maybe the 1.7oz would better? The spray pattern is wide, even and a very fine mist. Held at a distance of about 12 inches it easily covers my neck and both shoulders. Since that first night, I no longer find it to be so talc-y smelling, but the scent is definitely very sweet (vanilla) and a bit feminine at first blush.
After an hour or so, it mellows nicely on my skin and I no longer notice it so much. I've been wearing it frequently since, but haven't been out and about socially as much (work, work, work) and, as a result, have only had 1 woman notice it. Her response was, "You smell GOOD!" so, that's encouraging...

YAY FRED! Good job on your first review :) For the record, I think Chipmunk-ettes should have qualified for Chippettes. Anyway... For most people, music is the soundtrack to their memories but in my case, its smell. I will get a scent of something and it will trigger all sorts of memories and nostalgic feelings and I always have to smile to myself when I realize I'm doing it again. So I always remember people by their smell... I have girlfriends who always wear the same kinds perfumes and I can recognize them as much as by their taste in fashion, hair and everything else as by their scent. Same with old boyfriends.... and it doesn't matter if its a cologne, a hair care product (ie Tancho still makes me think happy thoughts of Nick every time I smell it on someone else) and even laundry detergent -- I once had a boyfriend who always washed his clothes with Snuggle... and it totally worked!! So Gentlemen... the point is this.... just take the time to smell nice because it actually does make an impression on us ladies that (hopefully) lasts a very long time..... cheers!!
SOOOOOglad you're here and great review! I appreciate a nice-smelling man in a BIG way and if a guy likes a scent himeself, you just know we'll love it too!Only takes a few minutes to slap or spray a bit on and karina is SO right: it's what you remember about someone long aftre they leave the room or your life!Hope you'll do more reviews for us!
Great review Fred! I love 212 for women. I love the way men smell, when they smell good anyway. I love the way men's cologne smells. I am often guilty of going to Sephora and sniffing all of the men's colognes. I have been single for a while, and cologne sniffing is my step down from dating. After I become comfortable again I will start dating. But I love sniffing guy's cologne. A lot of women are very in tune with their olfactory senses. I for one really do appreciate when a guy takes the time and consideration to not only look good, but to smell good too!
