JESSICURL TOO SHEA CONDITIONER! HUMP DAY HAIR DAY!

Wed, 10/15/2008 - 1:26pm
  • Hump Day Hair
  • Hair

Kate here, Things are getting pretty rough these days. My parents tell me that everyone experiences a hard "adjustment period" after college. There are not a million people your age whose only goal is to be your friend (or for the male variety, some sort of goal that relates to seeing you naked). Your hard work doesn't always pay off when you get a paper or test back. You can't sleep in until 10 for an 11 o'clock class and you can't just "not show up" to your work because you are "sick" (ahem...hung-over slash still wearing the same clothes from last night). But I think that my adjustment period has to be a little worse than most. Even bagillionaires are facing rough economic times these days due to the stock market's similarity to Britney Spears' reputation last year. Neither me, nor my college educated roommates, friends, siblings etc can find any sort of job worth anything. It is a struggle to pay the bills, much less indulge in the necessities (splurges) of beauty. For this reason, when I received Jessicurl Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner to try, I was extremely relieved, as I had just run out of conditioner and had literally no money to buy a new one.

I have to admit I was a bit nervous to try Jessicurl because I have used a tried and true system for my hair for over two years now, and I am very reluctant to change it. But boy, am I glad I did. Remember how I said things are getting pretty rough these days? Well one thing that is not rough is my hair! Jessicurl made my hair unbelievably soft and I could tell it was working almost immediately when I rubbed it through my hair. After straightening , my hair had a silkiness that I did not think was possible for someone with hair as coarse and thick as mine. This is a WONDERFUL conditioner that did not weigh my hair down at all (although to be fair with hair as coarse and thick as mine I don't think oil grease could really weigh my hair down) and lived up to every claim it made. I would definitely recommend this product, and not just to curly haired ladies who want to improve their curl, but to anyone who wants extra moisture and softness.

Here is what Jessicurl has to say about Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner:

This thick conditioner uses Shea Butter for its moisturizing properties, adding wonderful softness to super dry hair. It also utilizes the beneficial properties of 14 different herbs and spices. Good for daily use on thick, dry hair; it may be too heavy for hair that gets weighed down easily.

Anyone else tried Jessicurl products? Tell me someone else understands what I'm going through to try and make ends meet!

JESSICURL! BUY IT HERE!

Oh my goodness I love this stuff. I've been using it since I got it, and my hair is quite pleased. As your resident fragrance reviewer, I feel it necessary to mention first: I love the coconut-lemony scent that it has, first of all, and that scent lingers alllll day. I sniff my hair to make me feel better! Now, on to the serious stuff. My ends are entirely fried. Like, split, frizzed, and haven't been cut in a year- I just haven't been able to afford a haircut. I feel you on the economic stress, Kate- I'm a couple thousand short to pay my school and I have no idea how I'm going to come up with that money. Anyway- this stuff has made my hair look better than it has in six months, and my hair is color-processed, damaged, frizzy, and fine, but there's a lot of it. It's now soft and shiny with only a few fly-aways, and it's MUCH more manageable! I looooooooooove it and if I can afford it, I will buy it again!

Had to add another note this morning, after reading sweetassgal’s tip to try putting some of the Too Shea in a spray bottle with some water and use it for a leave in conditioner, I decided to try it at the crack of dawn today right after I washed my hair. I always use some form of leave in conditioner (I pretty much have to) if I want my hair to look good as well as smooth. My comb gets stuck otherwise - and who needs that? So today I put a little Too Shea in a spray bottle and added some water, shook the living daylights out of it to get it blended and then sprayed it on as a ‘leave in’. I just have to brag today...this was a FANTASTIC idea sweetassgal!!!!! My hair is pretty much perfect today! Of course it smells divine and the texture is the kind of spectacular looking that you see in the latest hair style magazines that you long to copy only it’s happening to me today! I actually have the hair that I admire on everybody else! It’s a great day to be me! TRY THIS TIP!!! This is definitely one of the best products I have had the pleasure of reviewing on this site without question! Remember that old commercial where the woman says “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful!” well - today I am going to say that to every single person who passes by my desk! LOL! I’ll have to be careful around here that none of the men go with their compulsion to bury their faces in my compelling hair! I’m telling you - Too Shea conditioner enables YOUR hair to say TOUCHE’ to other women’s hair! - Your hair will be smokin’ hot after using this product and when your hair looks good - you know you feel soooo GOOD!

Y'all have convinced me! I just went and ordered some of this Jessicurl stuff - the trial pack so that I can try several products at once. I'm so excited I can hardly wait to receive it! I have extremely curly hair, it's not even funny. I keep it short so it's easier to manage, but on a humid day (and when is it NOT humid in Memphis?) I look like I've got a puff ball on my head. Will update this when I get my greedy litte hands on my pack. Thanks for the info!

My fine hair stick straight but it is super fried from the pool, the ocean, the environment and my colorist so I wasn't sure if this was going to be something for me.... so I was happily to discover that Jessicurl actually worked wonders for my over-stressed tresses! So if you have fried, dried hair that is thirsty for some deep conditioning, this stuff does the trick! I used it while I was soaking in a long hot bubble bath and let it just deep condition for 45 minutes before I rinsed it out and got out of tub. Simple and straightforward packaging with a plain scent and goopy, rich texture -- its a no frills solution that does exactly what it says its going to do.

I wouldn't let myself open this up until I'd finished every last drop of my Halo conditioner which I've been using since we reviewed it here about a year ago. But I tried the Jessicurl this morning and my hair has not been this soft or hydrated since I don't even know how long. Plus the herbal smell was really soothing and cooling on my sunburned scalp (unexpectedly hot and sunny football Saturday.) I LOVE it!!!

I'm so glad that worked for you Jeanasina! I can only wash my hair every other daybecause it will dry out too much so I grabbed my spray bottle with a little Too Sheain it this morning and it woke my dry curls right up! Soft, silky and shiny...I loveit! It's just enough to restore some bounce after rolling around in bed all night (I'ma crazy sleeper) and light enough not to weigh it down or be greasy. I'm going to have to investin barrels of this stuff. I sent Jessica a thank you note yesterday for being so kindand sending us such great (and full sized) products to try. She is personally responsible for single handedly averting several monetary and beauty crisis'. GO girl!

Thank you for introducing us to Jessicurl. I'm a very curly girl, ordered the sampler kit and it has changed my life! Nice soft curls, hair is no longer unruly. Smells divine. What more could I ask for? It's my new "must have"!

I have to say I'm a fan of Jessica's whole line and so I contacted her hoping we couldget the reviewers something to try. I was hoping for Rockin' Ringlets but was NOT atall disappointed to get my Too Shea conditioner from Meg. As I've stated before mycurly, coarse, and DRY hair soak up any and all moisture I give it. I PACK on theconditioner, use a leave in mixed with a smoothing serum, and typically have some kindof spray that ends up in there too. I was anticipating reviewing this myself for nextweeks column but Kate beat me to it...so I've been using it all week. Test of all tests, I used this ONLY and not my other concoction to see how it works. My hair isSUPER SOFT, frizz FREE, and my curls look great! I LOVE IT. Its similar to the results I get with Ojon, but less expensive and without the heady scent. I love theway the Too Shea smells. Kind of coconutty but not overwhelmingly so. I'm going toreward Jessica for sending us this great product by dropping my own $ on the hair mask and the Rockin' Ringlets too. I'll let you all know how it goes. I'm also goingto put some of the Too Shea in a spray bottle with some water and use it for a lighterleave in when I need a little boost to dry hair. LOVE YOU SO much Jessica at Jessicurl for the great products...KEEP ON ROCKIN and GLAM ON girl!

Love, hugs and shoes...Angie

sorry to be late to the party on this, but just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. i was a little wary of this product at first, thinking it might be too heavy for my fine hair. then i remembered i had just recently bleached and dyed and re-dyed...and re-dyed it, and lets just say my hair's a wee bit parched now. this product gave it new life! and i LOVE the smell! seriously, i'm not one to fall for things for the smell, but this is just D-licious. it works fabulously on my hair and gives just enough "weight" to it that it doesn't go frizzy when i blow-dry my hair. i was totally addicted to terax crema, but this is my new love.

SO glad you wrote this wonderful review! I also received a tub of this to try out and as you,I was reluctant to try something "new" on my fine but thick color-processed to the max hair!BUT,I'm just back from a family- visit and my thrifty sis in law had only some samples of less-than hair products in her shower so I was jonesing to get home to some proper conditioning!OMG...this product is SOOOOOOO fabulous!!! Smells light and creamy, the texture is like whipped heavy butter, and after slathering it on while I lounged in the bath,it rinsed off cleanly to leave my hair silky-smooth and without a single fray (thank you very much flatiron!) in sight!!!This is truly worth the price IMO and I will be buying it again even though I don't have any curls to speak of!One of the best hair products at any price ever IMO!Hoping things will improve for all you young-uns' out there...don't feel as if you're alone,we who are "retired" are also getting slammed lately...At least we can help each other look fabulous while the world changes around us,right!

If I could have a conversation with my hair and were able to ask it what it thought about my first application of Jessicurl Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner let me tell you - my hair would probably be moaning in a blissful response of ecstasy! If my hair could inhale - it would be getting intoxicated on the scent! This stuff is amazing! A few weekends ago in my constant endeavor to have fabulous blonde hair I spent another weekend putting in some foils at home with my do-it-yourself-foil kit and then later thought the foils were not quite right so I removed them with a heavy duty stripper concoction and then I proceeded to put some more color over the trembling, now severely weakened remaining locks. After my excursion into the danger zone with chemicals my hair looked seriously sad. Out of the heavens a package from Meg came with the Jessicurl product waiting it’s turn patiently inside the package for me to discover it.I opened the jar and the most heavenly, dreamy, intoxicating, delicious, lovely smell wafted its way up inside my nostrils and I was immediately transported to a warm balmy vacation spot! Without question this product was about to be slathered on my weakened hair shafts - I knew the best was yet to come! I looked at the website while allowing the product to penetrate its way into every single strand of hair on my head (which was now covered in a Target plastic bag secured with a large clip). The website explains how the originator of this product created the Jessicurl line after years of using products that didn’t work - her main focus is actually on people who have curly hair but she feels that her products will improve the health of anybody’s hair rather than just masking the damage. Her end result is to produce vibrant heads of curls!I can tell you what my end result was...finally I took my plastic bag off and flung it across the room just as my boyfriend was coming down to see what I was doing - it might or might not have stuck to his face, but what really happened is that he got one whiff of the luxurious fragrance and said “WOW!!! What is that smell?” I told him it was my NEW and FAVORITE hair conditioner and then I rinsed it all out. Let me tell you...this product made my frizzled and frazzled blonde hair now appear to be voluptuous! The texture was just magnificent and it once again had shine, bounce and pizzazz! I love, love, love this product and want to try everything they sell on the website! You can order sample sizes of all their products to get you started and you have to know I’M GOING TO DO THAT!!! There is a video explaining everything they sell and how to use each product and they even have room sprays (this would be fantastic if the other fragrances are anything like this one) as well as body products! I think this product is a 5 star sensation! Who wants to smell my hair today???? I know I do!!!!

Just reading about all your positive experiences with Jessicurl warms my heart! I am a HUGE fan of the Jessicurl line and have been for the last two years. I adore their Island Fantasy scent, and having thick, naturally curly hair Jessicurl's Too Shea Conditioner is just what my hair craves. Another great thing about Jessicurl products is that a little goes a long way, so not only are their prices reasonable, they will last a long time. Jess has some amazing demonstration videos at her website. You have the right to remain curly!

OhmyGodOhymyGodOhmyGod THE BEST CONDITIONER EVER.  I adore this.  The smell, the texture, the ingredients, the results... I have yet to find its equal (certainly not for trying) at even close to the same price.  It's just cruel to suggest living without it.  My hair has curled up beautifully, is bouncy and full of life.  I know that hair is made of dead protein and so, dead, but my hair acts alive and happy when I use this.  THANK YOU for bringing my attention to this line.

The time after college is certainly a period of adjustment. Good luck with it.  I've heard great things about Jessicurl, and my hair is in need of a deep conditioner.  It's a bit better since I got a haircut, but I swear it gets drier days after I wash it. Weird.
