JANE COSMETICS! DRUGSTORE DEAL THURSDAYS!
Gigi here, with a Drugstore "Steal!"
Recently I was in a hurry and left the house sans makeup-with my fair skin and hazel eyes, I can fade away and it's not pretty. I had intended to apply mine in the car while my husband drove, packed a bag of cosmetics, and forgot it. Since it's not Halloween yet and I don't want to frighten others needlessly, we stopped at the drugstore, where I ran in to find some cosmetic staples. I hate to waste money and replicate items I already own, but a display for Jane Cosmetics caught my eye--problem solved! You're most likely familiar with this firm. It began with a few items, but they are now flourishing, offering very reasonably priced, innovative products for every age, every look. The name "Jane" itself is derived from the fact that the line is intended to be flattering for all women and is actually an acronym for botanical ingredients in most of their items--juniper, aloe, nettle, and elderflower.
While I feared I would have to go bare-faced, I had nearly everything I needed in their new "Be Pure Minerals in the Round Building Blocks to Beauty," a talc- and oil-free set of five interlocking, stackable, circular cosmetic rounds. They include foundation, bronzer, dual blushes, an eye shadow quad and four lip glosses, with a mirror in the lid (thank you, as I am annoyed by firms which disregard these). This is a limited-time offer--get yours now for $9.99 (yes, you read that correctly!). It's akin to having a small makeup boutique. For a pittance, I was able to transform myself easily from "oh, woe is me" to "oh, wow is me!" I used the portable blush, eye, and lip brushes I always carry in my purse for application (I know, I know-I need a shrink).
These kits are available in "Cool" and "Warm." The foundation is pressed mineral powder in colors with an undertone of yellow. Why? The key pigment in our skin, melanin, is yellow by nature. The coverage is not heavy, just enough to camouflage imperfections, even out skin tone, and disguise ruddiness (avoid powder under eyes as it exaggerates any lines). I whipped out one of my cream concealers for this area (it's been suggested that carrying my purse is a great exercise for building muscles).
In general, Christian Dior eyeshadows are my "benchmark" when it comes to ease of shadow application. No, these don't glide on in the same effortless way but require a little more work. However, it doesn't take much to create a variety of attractive looks with shadows in ecru, taupe, subtle shimmering copper, a great deep chocolate brown, seafoam, and smoky teal. Bronzers include a patchwork of squares in slightly luminous hues including beige, copper, coral, and bronze, depending on the palette you choose. Blushes? Rose tones are predominant, with the "Warm" colors more subdued and pleasing to people who may tend to shy away from pink. As a finishing touch, use the lip glosses for a perfect, soft, shiny pout-no tacky feel here! These are fascinating and range from barely-there nude, bronze, and blossom to very wearable, vivid shades of russet, rose, and fuschia. An idea: Mix and layer the colors for your own unique, perfect tone.
I started with the "Cool" set and bought the other on the way home. Hey-I know a good thing when I see it and want to stock up before the executives at Jane realize that they've lost their minds when it comes to a beauty deal!
Run! Don't walk! Any other Jane lovers!

apparently jane's gel liners are incredible too. just like mac fluidlines, just half the price!must try them!
I used to use a Jane blush, and was very impressed with it. Then--for some mysterious and horrifying reason--all of the Jane products in my area disappeared and I had to move on... This kit sounds fantastic! I will use it to hook various acquaintances on mineral makeup. :D
Isn't Jane owned by Clinique or Lancome or Clarins. I just read something, but of course can't find it again, about being owned by one of the high end cosmetic companies. Supposedly their colors are very similar. The Jane products I have used, I feel are a great value for the price. I put them up there with Isadora which has sadly disappeared from our local drugstores.

I have yet to try them, but while checking them out online, I found this link to a coupon. Hey, every bit helps!
sharond, Jane was previously owned by Estee Lauder, but they recently sold it to a new company for an undisclosed amount. Reportedly, the brand has undergone a makeover from being a "tween/teen" brand to a "twenties" brand. Here's the link I got this info from.http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3374/is_3_26/ai_114087148And I believe that Isadora was a brand that was sold in a specific drugstore, and it didn't sell well enough, so it was discontinued. I remember seeing all of the stock on clearance as a "going out of business" sale.
I love Jane. Jane has been around for a whole lot of years. I remember the old Jane that was marketed more toward teens. i had nothing wrong with that, as I was a teenager. i used their eyeshadows and blushes. They were very good quality! I haven't tried this brand since they have been repackaged and redirected, but I'm sure they are just as good or better then ever before. The blushes were such good quality, comparable to Smashbox and NYX quality. i still have a few jane eyeshadows I use, and still love them. My favorite shadows were Hi ho Silver, Surfer Girl, and Golden Mushroom. Well I think it was called Golden Mushroom. It was my holy grail shimmery brown shadow forever. Of course it is now discontinued. But I remember even going and finding another one on ebay I loved it so much. I really need to check out the new JANE though!
dan-i-licious, the Jane gel eyeliners are pretty amazing, and the mini angled eyeliner brush that comes with it is really pretty decent quality. I'd definitely give it a try, especially if you're new to gel/cream eyeliners and aren't sure if you'll like them. They aren't *quite* up to par with some of the higher end brands (I personally love the Stila smudgepots), but they're really really close, and for a Meghead on a budget, it's a great choice! They had a lipgloss mini palette that wasn't very pigmented or amazing though. My friend bought it at Grocery Outlet and it was just so so.

I love Jane! My first blush ever was from them and it was absolutely amazing :) It was the Jane Blushing Earth blush, and I still love it! It's pretty much one of three blushes I use, and it gets pretty heavy rotation :D
I didn't like their mineral foundation though because I felt like there really wasn't much coverage, but I would really love to get this set you're talking about, especially since it's only $10! Jane didn't disappoint me in their blushes, and I'm sure their other products should be good too!
I also love the information that Jane is morphing into a 20+ brand, and I'm definitely keeping an eye out for their new upcoming changes that'll come along with the ownership swap!

After reading this part:The coverage is not heavy, just enough to camouflage imperfections, even out skin tone, and disguise ruddiness (avoid powder under eyes as it exaggerates any lines). I whipped out one of my cream concealers for this area (it's been suggested that carrying my purse is a great exercise for building muscles).I'm going out to get me some today. During the week I don't feel like putting on foundation, powder, eye shadow, eye liner... etc etc.All I need is enough coverage to cover imperfections.. that's all. I'm glad I read this review. I didn't want to spend over 10 dollars on my natural makeup look. :-)
I have heard of this company but have yet to try any of the products. I can't believe you got such a great deal. I will be checking them out soon.

i like this sort of product because i feel my skin very confortable without rosacea !!! :)
I think this mineral line has parbens(not sure if I spelled that right) in it. Just a warning because I know quite a few girls who try to avoid them.
Jane, another brand i would love to try but unfortunately we don't have any of their products :(
