JONATHAN'S SILKY DIRT SHINE AND DEFENSE CREME! GREEN CHI TUESDAYS!
Sweetassgal here to bring you the best natural and organic products our Mother Earth has to offer us by the way of Green Chi Tuesdays!
Ahhh how times have changed! My beautiful (and so grown up daughter) had her Junior Year Homecoming dance this weekend. When I was growing up the Homecoming Dance consisted of kids in preppy shirts, jeans, and socked feet only so our school principal wouldn't have a cow about dancing on the basketball court. Homecoming Dance circa 2008 in suburban California....TOTALLY different story. It's all about formal dresses, corsages, dinners out and of course, the perfect updo!
Times being what they are we circumvented the stylist and did the 'do' at home. I'm not completely without talent in this arena so we popped in a chick flick, sat down with bobby pins and curling iron in hand and assessed the situation. My girl has incredibly gorgeous and thick hair but straight as a pin. This is the death of an updo as its so heavy it can fall out and so straight that curls don't hold long unless they're pinned and shellacked into place. Unfortunately today the situation was worsened by the fact that she had JUST washed her hair and we weren't privy to the 'second day dirty hair' that is best for formal do's. What to do...what to do?
Jonathan's Silky Dirt Shine and Define Creme with Essential Waters and 100% Vegan to the rescue! Just a TINY dab of this on your fingertips, run through your hair, and VOILA...you are second day dirty. This can be applied on wet hair for definition or to dry hair to tame frizzies, pump up the shine factor and help style too soft, just cleansed hair. I'm curly and frizzy...my girl is soft and straight. It works for both of us on different levels. A word to the wise however...a little goes a LONG way. If you over apply you will have greasy looking hair. I would not recommend this for people with very thin hair or for those with super oily hair. But I can recommend it for the curlies, wavies and straighties who need a little shine, definition and control!
'Perfect for dull or damaged hair, this grooming creme helps me create amazing supermodel shine plus sexy, natural hair definition. The best part is I can use it on damp hair for extra control or on dry hair for a smooth, lasting finish.' ~ Jonathan
I find this everywhere...Ulta, Sephora, online at just about every beauty website. You can buy a full size tube for $28 or half size for $16. It will last you forever...which is more than I can say about my daughters updo! Home by 11:30 and though she still looked FABULOUS in her red dress and perfectly coiffed hair...out came the pins and down came the hair. All good things must end!
Let's hear from those of you who've got a hair story or know about Jonathan's Silky Dirt...do you love it as much as I do??? GLAM ON megsmakeup gals!

I adore this product! I've tried so many texturizing waxes & pomades and none have delivered results as perfect as Silky Dirt. My hair is somewhat coarse and dry, so it gets frizzy, poufy & out of control every morning when I'm forced to torture it with my hair dryer. Recently, I've followed a tip from my stylist to either use a very small amount of shampoo (or skip shampoo all together) every other day. Since doing so, and adding Silky Dirt to my daily routine, my hair is softer & silkier than ever. Silky Dirt is now the only styling product I need to use after blow-drying my hair. My straw-like strands are smoothed out & my style stays in place all day long. And as an added bonus, this product smells great!
I LOVE the "Dirt" paste and am getting this to try at Ulta tomorrow, thanks for the great review and hope your girl continues to have the time of her life!
Hey ladies! I got Samantha's pics back from homecoming and thought everyone might enjoyseeing how her hair looked that I did in the review. You can see how shiny and well controlledher hair is and that's in large part to the Jonathan Silky Dirt. Go to my profile, viewmore pics and it should be number three! Let me know what you think of the style! Hopeto hear from you all soon!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
I actually purchased this based on your reviews. It takes a little getting used to. It is important not to use too much. A little goes a long way. But this stuff smells so yummy. It makes my hair look so soft and pretty. I really love it.
I have a Jonathan hair spray. I really like it. It's light and smells nice. The only way it makes my hair crunchy is if i accidently use too much. For the most part though, it creates a nice hold and it's really light.I haven't used the dirt shine, but I'd definitely consider it. I've only heard good things about the product and I've had good luck with other Jonathan products.
I had misplaced mine and just started using it again. It really is great! It smells so good. And your hair looks even better the next day. It really is perfect unless you use too much. Depending on how much hair you have I would never use more than a quarter or a dime sized amount. If you do this you will love the feel and the look of your hair with this product! I highly recommend this Dirt!!
I have this, and then after I bought it, several people told me how much they disliked it, so I never used it. But now I guess I'll pull it out and try it. I just never thought he was the greatest hair stylist, whenever I watched that show he had for awhile, it seemed like all his cuts and styles looked pretty much the same.
Well, Erica he certainly has a signature style. I think that he often does variations of that style that would be appropriate for the person in his chair. So it can be repetitive. But don't hold that against his products. Really good stuff. Just don't use too much! And hey that makes it last much longer!
I have two products from his volumizing line and they're okay. I don't like the texture they give my hair, and I feel like it really dries my hair out.
i need to try these since i didn't like jonathan's dirt spray when i used it in my naturally wavy hair
hmm... i just have this hair lotion type of thing i got back in taiwan. it's extremely nice for curly hair, keeps it in shape for the LONGEST time ever. i had friends who also got their hair permed curly last year, same time as i did, but they quickly became frizzy and straight, while mine stayed curly. they were jealous, and my secret? the hair lotion! haha.

I love this! In fact I love all the Jonathan products that I've tried, they all smell so good. I didn't know he did a dirt spray as well.

I've never heard of this product or line before, but it's a wonderful idea. I didn't even know they made anything like this. I'll have to tell my instructor, especially when prom season comes around we'll get alot of clients for updo's.
