AHAVA NATURAL LIGHTENING HAND CREME! GREEN CHI TUESDAYS!
Sweetassgal here to bring you the best natural and organic products our Mother Earth has to offer us by the way of Green Chi Tuesdays!
Here's one of my shamefully insane beauty fixations. That odd ritual or habit you developed out of a fear instilled in you by a threatening beauty article, or like me...by witnessing the results of ignoring the advice first hand. Note I mentioned HAND. Yes...that is where my strange fixation lies...in the health and beauty of my hands. Many of us in my age range and younger take the flawlessness of our hands for granted. I have been one such person and found my first beginning of an age spot earlier this year! I tried to laugh it off as a developing freckle but deep down knew the truth and immediately began to worry about the protection of my mitts. Here's the embarrassing part...I became SO aware of it that I've actually begun driving with my hands curled UNDER the steering wheel at 8:00 and 4:00 so that the backs of my hands are turned down and out of the sun and only the palms of my hands are turned up towards the light. Someone commit me to the beauty looney bin NOW...I'm certifiable!
Our hands are constantly exposed to light so I decided to search out a product that would combine the moisturizing effects of hand cream, SPF of sunscreen, and lightening products to reverse any damage done by my years of neglect. To the internet I went and soon found that I may be the ONLY person alive who wants a 3-in-1 product to cure all. I was getting down right discouraged. I found hand creams promising youthfulness through moisturizing but little to no sun protection. Or there were lightening serums and such but they didn't protect against future damage. Was this a ploy to get me to buy 3 separate products? Just before I almost gave up, popped lithium and started wearing tissue boxes on my feet I found Ahava Lightening Hand Cream SPF 12 especially enriched with Mineral Skin Osmoter™ - AHAVA Natural Dead Sea Complex.
This is not an organic or all-natural product but it does utilize the ancient and world known curing properties of Dead Sea minerals so I'm taking the stretch and reviewing it anyway. I've been using this lotion for over three months now and my little spot is nary a blip on the canvas of my skin. I couldn't be happier about it. This also is a wonderful hand lotion on its own. It absorbs quickly, isn't greasy, and instantly gives my hands a little 'plumping' lift. I have just two complaints...#1 why SPF 12? Why not 15...25...35? I'll take the 12 for now because its the best I could find but in the future...ahem folks at Ahava...PUMP UP THE SPF! #2...I hate the screw top cap. I prefer pumps or flip tops as its just simpler application.
Well my gorgeous gals...please don't leave me hangin' thinking I'm the ONLY one with insane beauty tendencies. AHAVA makes beautiful products! Thanks for the reminder,I have used this cream before and will re-visit..."Insane Beauty Tendancies?" Who ME? Sounds like a good name for a blog though,LOL! I am super-conscious about the effects of the sun as well although I don't go to steering lengths such as y'all do but I might haveto reconsider,LOL! I have a rather "insane tendancy" to scrub my feet a lot after I've been out and about in flipflops or othernon-shoe shoe: the thought of what might be lurking tends to unravel me.
I have to admit that I not only steer my car the same way, Sweetassgal, but I also got double limo tint (and a ticket w/ a $65 fine for having it). It was a double-deal though b/c I also feel safer driving around alone with it. Another weird thing is that I always sleep w/ my hand between my face & my pillow, but since I'm more conscious now about touching my face, I put my arm up into the pillowcase as a barrier. My hub thinks I'm losing it, but whatever it takes, right? :)
I just wanted to share that I just read in the Sephora beauty book that Wende Zomnir, founding partner & creative director of Urban Decay, puts an extra dose of spf on the tops of her hands and, when running on the boardwalk with her son in the running stroller, tries to grip the bar from the underside to keep her hands out of the sun. So, I guess we're not that odd after all :)
Jeanasina darling...here's what I did when I found myself in a similar situation. Ifyou have the guts...approach the woman on the street that you see, compliment her immensely (don't we all love that), ask who her stylist is and if she knows what colorher high/lowlights are. Then go direct to the source and maybe we can't get you inthe blonde of your dreams! I've had trouble with that in the past too. I had a hairlady who seemed to just REFUSE to do what I asked telling me she knows best and the color I wanted was too light/dark...whatever. I dumped her and moved on to someone who listens and does what I PAY her to do. Ask around to people who's hair you likeand get AWAY from that stylist who disregarded (and charged you FULL price) your wishes. It's frustrating...I know!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
Oh I have an insane beauty tendency big time! I love blonde hair and whenever I see a blonde I want to alter/change/fix/re-do my hair to make it look even more spectacular! So...I will spend hours and hours ripping pictures out of magazines of women with just the hair I have in my mind’s eye that I want mine to look like. However...twice now I have experienced complete spendy travesties in my endeavor to amp up my look! Twice now I have gone on two different occasions armed with my cut-out magazine files in order according to size and I have showed the lovely colorists my goal of having dark golden blonde or subtle shades of cinnamon foils cleverly hidden throughout my hair. On BOTH occasions the foils were removed and both colorists had placed dark black/brown foils in my blonde locks and in three words...I HATED IT!!!! So..on both occasions I had the colorists remove the dark color and both times I went back home after paying over $90.00 looking EXACTLY the same as I did when I came in to begin with. SIGH. However, it’s only been a few weeks since that last fiasco and today I saw a woman with a new fantastic color slant on her blonde hair and I found myself thinking...”I wonder if that would look good on me?” and it has started all over again. LOL! I probably need to put some of this nurturing hand cream on my hair!
Jeanasina!
my favorite hand creme is from nivea... it's a face and body creme, so i use it for my hands too. it always leaves my hands feeling soft like a baby's hands... and the scent is very pleasant, not too strong. :)

Hahaha, I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one who tries to keep my hands out of the sun when I drive. I do all sorts of silly things to keep my hands out of the sun and I'm seriously considering getting some driving gloves.

Lightening hand cream, cool. Have tried whitening face cream but never again, don't want to be any paler.
Think I might try out this stuff. I never thought to put sunscreen on your hands - and you're right that it shows your age faster than any other part of your body.

Oooh I love the idea of Dead Sea minerals!! I once had a beautiful body scrub with them in and it smelled good imo. I would love to try this hand creme sometime!
OMG! Cool!
