MAYBELLINE DREAM MOUSSE BLUSH! MONDAYS WITH MEG & A DD!
Meg here! Happy Monday! I know, I was just trying to be upbeat. When girlfriends come to visit me at my house they don't even bring a makeup bag. Usually they walk into my bathroom and scream out "OMG, it's like a flipping Sephora in here!" Why bring anything when you can try the latest and greatest at my house and usually leave with a few partying gifts?
Realizing that this is a rare happenstance, I pack my cosmetics case to the brim when travelling. I have every potion, every creme, every...Wait. No, I know I put it in here. Maybe it's under this brush..No, wait my purse? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! I forgot blush! What kind of makeup maven forgets her blush? Since, we had a few Drugstore Deal issues on Thursday, I'll be bringing you my DD on Monday.
I am a firm believer in cream blush, it just makes a nice "glow" like when you were little and running around outside. It blends and you can get very spot specific. I also use bronzer all over my face. I disregard the rules for that one. I take a big, fat brush and do a quick sweep for an all over golden hue. Then I grab my trusty creme blush to blend on the apples of my cheeks and voila! I look among the living!
I was at my sister's house. She is far from a sephora and department store! Off to trusty Walgreens for my new blush.
I settled (for $5.99) on Maybelline'sDream Mousse Blush shade #25 ROSE PETAL. It's $5.99 so I figured, eh, we'll see. I am so happy I forgot my other, much pricier creme blush at home. Here's the skivvy, it is whipped like mousse, you need a foundation brush to apply this or else it's going to get all under your nails and make a mess. It blends very well, it luminous and slighty sheer with pink undertones but with enough color to look spry!
So don't cry for me Argentina! Left the pricey stuff at home and let's all believe in a higher power (I'm sure he has nothing else to do but worry about my blush issues) and say it all happened as part of the greater, frugal plan!

I've been using the Dream Mousse Blush for a while now...Matter of fact it's one of my "can't live withouts". I use the Mousse foundation, bronzer and blush. I loved the blush so much that I have it in like three different shades. I think it's wonderful. The only drawback is that it tends to wear off easily, therefore I keep an extra in my purse... It even has a little glitter in it.
As I told the lovely Finnanagan, I use this and the foundation when my skin is at an in-between sort of stage. I find it goes on much better when I apply lightly like a face cream, then go over my skin with a gentle fluffy brush, it also lasts longer on my sensitive/oily skin.Where I buy: http://www.beautyboutique.com/cgi-bin/beauty/prod/15810/item_detail_bb.h... it is only $.99!!! Buy this in bulk before it's gone, it is truly going to be a cult beauty classic here soon.
I've SO been there with the beauty emergency! Most noteably on my romantic getaway to Monterey Bay with my hubby when I left my train case at home with ALL my hair products. LEtsjust say the "classic" updo was a staple of mine for the weekend. As for the blush I'm curious to see if the whipped formula would do better for me than a heavy creme. I tendto be oily and the creamier blushes slide off my face or add to the oil. I've stuck to powders to absorb that oil but the is might be light enough. At least to give it a shot.I'm one of those people who will buy something, use it once and give it away just to havethe experience of trying. Better that then sitting on my vanity amongst my BILLION otherproducts!!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
HEY MEG, I use this blush and find it to be the best! I don't use alot of real expensive makeups-I just can't afford it! BUT this blush makes me feel like I am not missing too much. I never thought to use the foundation brush, I use a makeup sponge and it smooths on nicely and I looks barely there-natural. I have medium skin type, I use #40 soft plum. I also like the idea that alittle goes a long way. This blush is a good buy and you'll love it.
Meg,I want to know what "pricey blush" you're addicted to. For comparison's sake.

Sounds nice and light, some cream blush can be a bit on the heavy side.

I never follow the rules of bronzer either. I take a huge brush and put it all over my face. I just apply a light layer and blend it in really well though. I usually only do this during the summer though, when I'm already tan. When it is cold outside and I'm pastier then a snowman I usually steer clear of bronzers. Or if I do wear bronzer during the cold months it is a very light bronzer. I have never used the dream mousse blush, but have really wanting to try it. i am the hugest fan of dream matte mousse, and the new dream matte liquid.......let's just say it's too die for and it is my new holy grail foundation. I usually prefer powder blushes, but do enjoy some creams. I really like the consistency of my dream matte mousse makeup, so I really think i would like the blush. I bought an extra stippling brush just for cream blush and I haven't used it yet, i also just bought the NYX cheek cream brush. I just saw this online for $1 as well. I will be trying this. I think I may actually pick up a few at $1 each you can't go wrong.
This is a great example of a quality blush but without the hefty price tag. I've read good reviews about this and it should be a staple in everyone's makeup bag.
I wish it came in more shades! I think there are only 3?
I am with you on cream blush. It is what I use most, although I do confess to using powder about a third of the time. I will have to try this. I have seen the ads, but, your review has made me decide.
hmm.. a lot of people seem to like this, but i was wondering if i put this on on top of my foundation, would it rub it off or lessen the coverage? thats why i haven't gotten this.. worried about how my foundation would be affected.. looks pretty though! i'm glad you like it.
You most certainly can get a woohoo! I used to be terrified of cream blush, or indeed any type of blush that wasn't powder 'cause I didn't trust my applying and blending skills well enough. But I tried this a couple of months back and I'm so glad I did - I actually picked the same shade as you and I'm amazed at how easy it was to apply and blend. You're right though in saying that a brush is essential because fingers will create a messy, uneven look. I initially had the same worry as emeliee.love about how it would fare over foundation, but I haven't had any problems. If you're worried about messing up your foundation (which I doubt you will, but juuust in case) you could really lightly set your foundation with a translucent powder before applying the mousse blush - sounds like a crazy backwards step but it works and it will stop you worrying about your foundation. ^_^;
I am so glad there was a post on this. I searched the site for it and there it was. I bought the Dream Matte Mouse in Rose Petal and the brozer in Glistening Sun and I love absolutely love them. I know most of you probably know this, but always apply this blush before setting foundation with powder. It is a mess if you try and put a cream on top of powder. Don't do it! :-)This blush and and bronzer are so satiny soft. The formula feels like whipped silk.
A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.

This may sound lame but this is my favorite blush because its so much fun to apply in comparison to other blushes! I use my fingers though. Its quick and easy. I love it.
I love this blush! I think that this is department store worthy. It much cheaper and easy to apply. I don't like their foundation though.
This stuff feels sooo good, and it's so fun to apply! Sometimes I'll just reach for this just because of the texture. The lasting power isn't great, but it's better if you layer on another powder blush on top.
I love this blush, it is creamy and looks great on my skin.
I tried their dream matte mouse foundation years ago, and I really didn't like it so I didn't bother with other products. Maybe I shouldn't have disregarded the rest of the line so quickly? The foundation turned very orange on me, do the blushes stay true to colour?I like a sheer bit of colour to blush, and sometimes when I use powder I can go overboard quite easily and have to start again. Maybe cream blushes would be something for me to investigate to get a nice wash of colour on my cheeks!
I have tried the Dream Matte Mousse Foundation before, we actually used it on a catwalk show back when I was studying makeup artistry. It's actually a pretty good foundation, I was surprised at how well it worked!I never got to try the Dream Mousse blush though, I've always been a little wary of cream blushes and only recently started using them. Previously I've always used powder. I think I will definitely give this a try though as I'm sure it'll be great!
I didn't think of a foundation brush, I had issues previously in applying this... I love the Dream Mousse collection, I have the foundation (in the wrong color, darn!) and the blush.
this is so cool!!! would it be weird to have a fluffy lipbalm lol ?
Very easy to apply, blends well. Lasts all day for me, and I have oily skin so that's pretty good. I love the consistency!! I have also tried the foundation from this line and I liked that as well, it provided great coverage but unfortunately it oxidized on my horrible oily skin so I couldn't continue using it..
I tried this and it was awful on me. Maybe because I'm a red head so very pink already... Or maybe I just didn't know how to apply it correctly.
i think the cream blushes have a more.. natural glow to them?i've been sorta uncertain about trying the maybelline mousse's because i've read reviews that have people saying they make them break out :\
I've always wanted to try this....and now i will.

Yes, I have used this and it was pretty nice. I just love the texture of it, I like it way better then the powder. I just hate using powder blush - it's harder to use, but this stuff goes on nicely.

i have heard so many great reviews on this, but never really got around to trying it. might have to pick it up this weekend! :D
This sounds great!
I quite like this product, it makes me look naturally flushed and dewey, though in the Australian heat I always worry that something is going to go haywire =/ so I tend to stick with powder blush 99.9% of the time
I'm not much of a blush person, to be honest, but I'm intrigued by this product. After reading the reviews, I'll grab one next time I come across it. Thanks!
this looks really nice!
wow, i need to try this out!
I really like the Maybelline Dream Mousse products. I've not tried the blush, but I really like the concealers. I'll have to give this a shot.
i've only tried dream mousse concealers and they work fine at first but then after a (short) while they get very crumbly.
amazing respones sounds like a keeper
tried this and did not like it.
