PASTELS WITH A PUROSE! SATURDAYS AT SEPHORA!
Katie here! Your very own Sephora Insider!
Who really ever knew that you needed two weeks to Orientate a bunch of college graduates to an MBA program? I didn't but that is surely what I have been doing for the last two weeks. And, OMG it is wearing me out. 8 hours a day of listening to the most boring man on earth explain to you simple Microsoft Excel functions can really ravage you. I've got dark circles! I haven't had dark circles...well since I stayed out all night on a regular basis when I was in Paris for four months. So that's just another story.
Anyhow, besides the usual concealer, my best friends for waking up tired eyes are Pastels. Now, don't think I go around looking like an easter egg. Firstly, it's out of season. Secondly, that's tacky. Thirdly, you ought to have a little more faith in me than that. But a little hint of pastel eye makeup will do brightening wonders!
NARS Cream Shadow Duo in Unconditional Love. This was from their Summer Collection. One half of the Duo is a nude with a little shimmer and the other half is a powder blue that is excellent in the center of the lid and/or the corners of the eyes.
Laura Mercier Mineral Eye Powder in Crystalline. This sheer pink gives a really flawless look and the super micro-milled glitter fills in lines.
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Yeyo. If you use this too heavy-handedly this is disco. But a sheer smudged line on the lower lash line is a wake up.
Makeup Forever Diamond Shadow in Diamond White 301. Don't go frosting your eye, lash to brow. But a gentle sweep in the lid and crease is very freshening. A sleek black eyeliner (liquid preferably) really polishes the look (with LOTS of black Mascara!).
TooFaced's Single Eyeshadow in Nude Scene - This is sort of a pastel nude-yellow but I think it makes for an excellent blank canvas! One of my all-time favorite eye shadow colors!

I second that about the UD eyeliners. They are great and the colors stay true, go on so easy and stay well. I just wish it would hold a point a little bit longer. A nice wash of light color (about 2-3 shades than my skin tone) works wonder for waking up my eyes especially when I hit the inner corner.
When I first read "pastels" in your post, I was like, "What the crap?!" Yes, me of little faith. Very good recommendations, and I must try that TooFaced Eyeshadow in Nude Scene. Sorry for "Professor Boring" and long orientation at TT. Four months in Paris? Tell us more Kate, tell us MORE!
I'm a fan of the UD liners, too. They don't budge in the humidity and THAT is a true godsend! I like light pastels sometimes in Florida, though nothing too intense. It's just so sunny out all the time, I feel like dark colors are just too overwhelming on my pale skin! I'll have to put the Laura Mercier shadow on my list: I've been on the lookout for a pink shadow that isn't too overpowering.
I love love love UD pencil eyeliners. Way too expensive for the product, but a life saver for when you want really natural makeup. Another great eye waker upper is not only a pastel, but a drugstore steal! Jane cosmetics quick stix in goldmine really wakes up your eye when used as eyeliner and then blended! POP! :)great post kate!
P.S. YES, I love the UD liners! Sharpening tip, place your liners in the fridge for 20+ minutes to create an ideal point.
I'm a huge fan of the Urban Decay liners and I agree that they pop of color really wakes up your eyes...plus the waterproof benefits are a huge plus. I think the NARS sounds entriguing too. Time for a trip to Sephora!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
I love the 24/7 in Lust and Rockstar. The Rockstar, for me, needs to be applied with a light hand, but, man oh man does it make my green eyes vivid! And it lives up to its name in terms of lasting. I love Urban Decay.
I love the way Urban Decay liner make the eyes pop. I am big into colored eye liners...not just plain black(don't worry Mr. Black, I love you too).

That is a great idea, using Yeyo under the eye. Oh how I love Urban Decay liners, they are amazing. I have Zero and Baked and order a mini set just recently with all kinds of crazy colors (and it was on clearance, yee-haw!). Anyway, I do something similar with everyday minerals eyeshadow in Dandelions. It is a pale white color with yellow undertones, I put a tad bit under my eye and it really wakes up the entire look. It may be easier to use the Urban Decay pencil though. I am adding this to my wants list.
The Urban Decay pencils are my favorite. I love zero and bourbon. But I mostly wear zero..it goes with everything. I want to get the new set they have that is the super stash of like 7 pencils.
