OOKISA PREVIEW! HUMP DAY HAIR DAY!
Katehrm777 here to continue on my journey to help everyone find the best hair care they can. You know how most people have a little "sibling rivalry" going on in their family? Well I gave up on sibling rivalry a long time ago. My oldest brother is currently on a full ride scholarship (actually not only does he not have to pay for tuition, but they also give him $25K a year to "live on") to get his PhD at Yale. My other brother has spent the past two years living in a tent in New Orleans volunteering 15 hours a day building houses for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. I, in keeping up the great tradition of Ballard-Rosa children, spend most of my time applying to be on reality TV shows. Also napping. And watching Olympic montages and getting worked up by images of my own exercise montage (ending of course, with my emerging with a beautiful, Jessica-Simpson-in-the-Dukes-of-Hazzard body and then simultaneously running into my evil ex boyfriend. Or my boyfriend's evil ex-girlfriend. I alternate). So since I will never win in the "educated" or "good person" category of my family, I long ago made a pledge to win the one category I know I have a chance at...the "good hair" category. Thank you Ookisa for making my dreams come true.
I got the Ookisa Fortifying Shampoo and Replenishing Conditioner to try. I was a little nervous at first to just use a conditioner on my hair as currently I have a whole song and dance for when I wash my hair involving protein treatments, colored enhancing conditioner, deep treatment conditioner and so on. However, this light conditioner worked wonders. Not only did it make my hair extremely soft and shiny, but because it is especially made for thinning hair, my hair was so light and bouncy! I wanted to ride in a convertible with my hair blowing behind me. I didn't, of course, because in reality all that does is blow your hair everywhere and cause it to stick to your lip gloss, but the idea is nice.
Ookisa is specially made for women with thinning hair, however, even if you do not have thinning hair (or like me have a giant beyond the belief of anyone's imagination poof ball of doom), it works great on the overall texture and condition of your hair. I was a little nervous about writing a review after only being able to use it twice (because most hair products need at least a few months to show real results) but this improved the overall look and feel of my hair after even the first use. While I cannot speak to the supposed wonderful thickening powers of Ookisa (my post washing routine involves lots of round brushing and smushing my hair between 400 degree hot plates to remove the maximum amount of volume possible) I would definitely recommend this brand to anyone who wants to punch up their hair, and I could definitely see how this would improve someone's hair drastically with continued use.
Well I'm off to go eat some deep friend ice cream while watching 4'8", 80 pound girls flip themselves in the air like magical fairies (forget the montage...the evil ex's live hundreds of miles away anyways). Any other sibling rejects out there consoling themselves with Ookisa-like beautiful hair?

Sorry--I meant to say that I could only sign up, not buy (sure I can write). Is there a way to buy? I was just about to purchase Aquage again but this seems better.
i loved your post-it gave me a good laugh! carol b
HOW I GOT THE PRODUCT:I saw the offer from OOKIA on line for receiving a sample...I signed up and instead of trial sample I received full size shampoo, conditioner, and hair mist. The catch is that if you don't like the product you can return it within x amount of days, if you don't return it, meaning you liked it, you will be charged $127 dollars for the 3 products. So roughly $42 dollars a product. Which is on the high side.THE RESULTS:I have been using the shampoo, conditioner (only once), and the mist as prescribed. My hair did not get thick. It did get a bit dry, but here is the unexpected result. MY HAIR STOPPED FALLING. Even my mother who was visiting for a while noticed less hair...She said without knowing that I was using OOKISA. Your hair hardly falls all of a sudden, wow!. Yes, wow. My hair has been thinning as a result of using accutane in 2001. Ever since my hair was never the same. I had A LOT of HAIR. The hairstylist used to say, oh, my god, is the girl with way too much hair again, get to work Kevin--and he would roll up his sleeves. Well....Needless to say those days are O V E R. But thanks to having a lot of hair, the loss, as dramatic as it has been, has not let me yet with a freakish hair look. My fear was that I will be the lady with the freakishly thin hair eventually. Thanks to OOKISA--I feel like a new person. Just because my hair does not fall as much, my mood has improved and my confidence has gone up. Now I have time to notice that my marionette lines need some attention. Damn you mid 30s. And it's only going to get worse :( Aging is hell. WHAT I AM GOING TO DO:I am keeping the shampoo and the mist. I am returning the conditioner. I don't use to much conditioner and I only use it away from my roots. So, no point in keeping it. I am also going to explore some other products....
Kate, they sent the wrong child to Yale. That post was genius and your brother couldn't do better. Whoops--wrong one went to help with the Hurricane Katrina disaster. In NO WAY do I mean to downplay the gravity of what happened, but I look like I lived through it with my hair, seriously, and FEMA won't help me with my hair woes! As I age, my hair is changing textures. I need to keep it moisturized, but nearly everything weighs it down. I had eye surgery in May and June and it became even worse, if that's possible; my dog's fur is less coarse than my hair. Evidently it's a side effect of anesthesia, as I've asked several stylists. I just tried to buy this (I'm not feeling well and thus it's justified), but the site let me sign up. Where can I get my hands on in, please? By the way, I was really annoyed at the firmly-muscled women athletes but thought, "Hey, the way they have to train disguises their busts, so they're not perfect." Only one problem--I don't have a bust either! What a cool post!
I've got some crazy pouf going on myself so I feel you there. I've actually decidedto embrace it and just do my best to tame it. I'm going with the eccentric big hairedcrazy lady routine. Considering my personality I can carry it off! My montage consistsof running into my high school nemesis and I look amazingly young and thin and she lookslike the ragged old hag I knew she was inside years ago! Not actually reality but itplays well in my head! Don't discourage about your brothers...they are obviously wonderful human beings (God bless them both) but you are nothing to sneeze at! You give us the gift of beautiful hair...and isn't that the greatest gift of all?!?!?!?
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
This is a great find. I'm always looking for great hair products and this sounds like just the ticket. I'm going to get some and post the results. Once again this site finds another gem.
Kate! Allow me to tell you that your comment... “I wanted to ride in a convertible with my hair blowing behind me. I didn’t, of course, because in reality all that does is blow your hair everywhere and cause it to stick to your lip gloss, but the idea is nice.” was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO great! That statement right there tells it like is about riding around in a convertible from a woman’s perspective! I envy your category for review - hair products! I love to try new hair products!!! I once rode around in a convertible and it was agony for me because I had just gotten my hair done and as it whipped me in the face - I tried to smile with the group I was with all the while thinking about the money down the drain for my newly colored/cut hair. By the time we stopped my hair looked like it was totally unwashed and definitely without character and as I exclaimed to my friends..”That was so much fun!” I tried to hide the tears that were forming in the corners of my bone dry wind sucked eyes.I have an assortment of shampoo/conditioner/moose/straighteners/smoothers/frizz-be-gone and curl enhancing products that occupy several bins and shelving areas within my home. My boyfriend absolutely cannot understand the need to buy any more of these hair items before I have even finished the ones that I have already purchased. But you and I all know, if you are not absolutely crazy about the product you probably don’t want to use it again, but you keep it around, just in case of a hair emergency or in case you think you might not have given it a real shot the first time you used it. My Harley boyfriend has a tiny little EDGE on one of my shelves where he carefully puts his shaving cream and deodorant each day. I let him have his tiny space and just to make sure he doesn’t infringe on my hair product areas, I have carefully drawn a 5 inch perimeter line in heavy black marker right in front on the shelf so he doesn’t accidently put his 2 items anywhere within the depths of my vast sea of hair products where it would be lost forever. This is for his own good. I love products that add body but as Kate put it, as soon as I step back to witness my full voluptuous hair in the mirror I run to get the flat iron because it’s always WAYYYY tooooo big and then I spray on yet another product to help with the scorching heat I am about to apply to my hair when I attempt to tone it down again. I found out that if your hair has too much volume and you just don’t feel like heating up the metal clamper curling iron (a somewhat gentler version of a branding iron) - instead just dig out your favorite winter/fall French looking beret and pull that sucker down over your head worn like an intoxicating French woman would wear it. Hold a loaf of French bread and some brie cheese if you have to in order to feel the moment and walk around the house speaking French till you are ready to leave and then pull that beret off and vwa-la’ - your hair is just right! No need to use the iron. For real! I did this one day when I was fed up with how big my hair got from yet another foolish volumizer exploration! I happen to have several berets and at the spur of the moment that day, to hide my giant hair, I grabbed one of my berets and put it on. I love wearing berets in the winter - I love the look - and that day when I took it off to go flat-iron my hair - it was already just right and incredibly cute! The volume had left the building and my hair! I was once again, sleek, sensual and sexy! So there you have it - another bizarre tidbit of insane advice and commentary.

this looks so good

For that price, we should get hair extensions. I'm serious about the cost of things lately - has anyone looked at the unemployment figures? But that review is good, nonetheless.
i agree that the review is splendid but that i will have to hold off as even the drugstore has me second guessing prices recently

Hey ladies, don't get scammed on this...it sounds too good to be true but the only thing they want in their online offer of this "free trial" is your money. You can read reviews all over the web about people being scammed...so be careful!I'm sure there's other good products around for at least half the price.

Ok, it sounds good and God knows how my hair is thin (also from using a similar product to accutain when I was in my early teens). But this company (which is probably the same that makes Kumaara (b/c the address is similar of not the same) has some nasty "free trial" policy. Honestly, the product might be very good but with think kind of agressiveness and policy, they won't get me buying their products nor reviewing them in the site I do reviews for. Not even if they send me free stuff. It scares me, really. By the way, the only way to contact them is by phone (I haven't seen an email address there so I'm sorry if I'm mistaken) which a little odd for an online seller...?
Looks like an amazing product for my thin pathetic hair. The price?? Not so much. Glad I can't seem to find it here in Australia. Makes me not want to go and search for it and be sucked in to it as much!
This was a hilarious review, and this product sounds really nice. Yes, like others though, the price is way too much for me. I can relate with the overachieving family members though. My younger bother is the popular kid, my older sister the perfect housewife. My cousins are all really educated professionals. I'm kind of the black sheep of my family.
I wonder if there is build-up with this product? It does seem pretty tempting though.
This is such a funny post. I am still laughing. What humor you have. I also have poof head hair. Only my poof is "blessed" with dryness, spilt ends, and breakage. I know what your thinking...my what (ahem)....beautiful hair you have. :p Yes, I could use some help in the hair department. The only thing that really really works for me that I have tried is Redken Extreme. It is one of my faves. However, after you use it for like 2 years it starts to not work as well. So, I am on the journey of finding another great hair product. No luck yet. I would like to try this, but it's too expensive for my budget. :-(I am a college student, so that should tell you what my budget is...

Thanks for your informative and funny post. This product seems perfect for me, as I have extremely fine hair and could use all the volume I can get. Unfortunately, it's a bit spendy for me though. Would you mind sharing the ingredients?
I am sorry to say it, but this product is way to expensive for me to even consider buying it. It looks very nice. I just wish it was more affordable.
OMG! This stuff is just too expensive. Even if I had the money, I just couldn't justify spending this much money on Shampoo.
I also saw the OOKSA "free trial" add, I just got my package today, they're FULL SIZED shampoo-conditioner and night time follicle renewing serum, the enclosed invoice stated that I have 30 days to try if I like the products then OOKISA will charge my credit card $89.95 (choke) and that their club price...retail is $129.95 (choke) and here I though I was getting some shampoo and conditioner and all I had to pay was shipping and handling,$5.95 I have so many emotions rolling around right now, was I scammed? should I be mad at myself for not reading the on-line add more carefully? I have a knot in my stomach and a headache. I am going to try the products and let you all know how they worked and what i think of the products but NO-WAY can I afford $89.95
I saw that too, but then I noticed the * and whenever you see that it means they are going to bill you later or there is some other catch. You should contact customer service and send the products back right away. Good luck!
I would try it even though my hair is more or less manageable but the pice is wayyy too expensive. Plus i'm wary of those " try and return in X amount of days or we'll charge a HUGE set of $$ on your credit card". It seems like they always try to catch you and stick you with the fee. I wouldn't want to risk it at all. I'll stick with my regular shampoo.
To ldpage, yes you were SCAMMED!!! Please do me a favor and just type "ookisa scam" into your google search engine...you'll be surprised how many threads you find of people being scammed like you. Send the stuff back asap because they sometimes even shorten their 30-day trial to 14 days just to make it more difficult for you to get it "free". I too wanted to try the samples when I've seen this ad but I did a little research first. I would suggest send it back asap and demand your money back, block your credit card....try everything. Because once they take the money out of your bank account/credit card, it's very hard to get it back. I'm relying on customer experiences here, but I do believe them.

thank you devildoll, I tryied the stuff last night and this morning I looked like witchie-poo...hair was a dry tangled fly-away mess.I am packing it up, (thank god I saved the box) and its going to the post office ASAP.I'll stick with my catwalk TIGI shampoo and cond.!!
no prob at all, I was horrified when I read the reviews about the product itself...a lot of people said it wouldn't even be as good as a cheap drugstore brand...of course that's just hearsay but I've seen red alarm sirens going off just then;-). Even if the shampoo&conditioner was good, the way they try to scam people would keep me from buying. There are some good drugstore brands out there, without the hassle of "free-trial". What kind of hair issue do you have, ldpage? Maybe I can help you, as I'm going to get a "investigating tester" in the field of salon brand shampoos:-). I did pretty heavy reasearch in the last couple of weeks.

I totally bought into this, and I ordered it, didn't like it, didn't return it on time, and ended up having my card charged for $127. That was my fault, for not getting it back within the 30 days, so I just kept it, thinking that will be the end of it, then a month later, I see that my card was charged again for the same amount, and a few days after that, I got another supply of it. So I finally called, because there is no way to contact them through the web site, and I got an attitudinal customer service person who did cancel my subscription, but only after asking me a lot of questions as to why I wanted to cancel, which really wasn't her concern, because I kept both months, not wanting to deal with the hassle of returning the 2nd shipment that I hadn't even opened, because sometimes you do that, and you end up having to make a dozen phone calls to fix it. So my advice would be unless you love it enough to pay that much for it every month, send it back!
I am Chinese. My family is stereotypically full of smart people. My uncle went to Harvard. I, and my little brother, are very smart. We will have to wait a few years to determine who wins this category! But I win best hair, makeup, clothes, healthy eating habits, and such. But in their eyes, I am just the expensive one. Now, I am just going to think I am underapreciated ;).
This sounds like a nice promise, never heard of it or the brand tho.
My hair is ALWAYS up and has been for about year now... Trying to grow the bad haircut I got:(. Now, I need a new hairstyle and what a process... This products sounds yum for the hair but a bit spendy tho.
Where can you find this brand? It sounds great. I love your writeup and would love to meet your talented family :D
Moema....always a Mom first
There's a lot of rivalry in my family too, but we all know that I have the best hair!
Sounds great ,but out of my price range. but then again my hair is very manageable.
Very funny review. We can all relate in one way or another. I have seen the advertisements for this brand and wondered how well it worked. Thanks for the great review.
wow definitely out of my price range for sure!
