REDKEN EXTREME ANTI-SNAP! HUMP DAY HAIR DAY!

Tue, 07/29/2008 - 11:47pm
  • Hair

Katehrm777 here, I have a friend who went had a therapist in high school. No real reason, just her parents thought it would be helpful to talk about the issues that face teenage girls today. I never really understood but looking back, this was perhaps the most brilliant strategy of beauty self-preservation of all time. I, however, was not so lucky. Bad day? Lets go indoor tanning obsessively for 3 weeks straight! The sun makes you happy! And nothing looks better than a great tan! Bad grade on a test? Obviously attempting to bleach my eyebrows to "match" my hair will cure such anguish. Fight with the parents? I bet shaving my upper lip would actually work in reality and would cause my make-up to go on SO much smoother! And of course, everyone's favorite, a break up with a boyfriend. My high school boyfriend and I broke up a lot (who didn't?). There was a lot of hair dying to emerge a new sexy goddess and make him realize what he was missing etc etc that went on in high school. My hair has been red, orange, grey, green, black, white, burgundy, maroon, and yellow due to emotional instability. Really, I think having a therapist instead would have ended up saving me money. Moral of the story: my hair was EXTREMELY damaged. Like won't grow longer because any new growth just snaps right off. Redken Extreme Anti-Snap completely turned my hair around. I have been using it for two years now and have stopped dying my hair (hmmmm around the same time I got with my new boyfriend...probably unrelated) and my hair has stopped snapping, has started growing and continues to get healthier and shinier. Now this product is not an instant-fix, but with time and dedicated use can really improve the health of your hair. This is especially helpful to those who are trying to grow out their hair, as it keeps your hair from splitting and reduces the amount of dead ends that have to be cut off at your hairdressers. And it smells FABULOUS. Here's what Redken has to say about their product:

"Anti-Snap leave-in treatment fortifies the damaged areas of hair and helps reduce breakage. Redken's exclusive Interbond Conditioning System delivers a unique 3D Repair Complex of proteins, ceramide and lipids to help provide internal strength, cuticle reinforcement and protective resurfacing."

So...any other teenage survivors relying on Redken to cure their split end woes?

A hairstylist recommended this to me after some serious dye damage. I had dyed my hair a "honey brown" in hopes that it would be, erm, honey brown. It turned bright red. I then went to a hair salon to get it fixed. I asked if they could turn it to a chocolate brown. They did, and it was a really dark chocolate brown... I went to a second hairstylist (the one that recommended the product) and she weaved in a few highlights making it look 10 times better. Unfortunately, my hair melted a little in the process. Redken Anti-Snap saved my hair! And it smells incredible!

High School woes...hilarious! One of the pros of having an older sister...seeing that peroxide and near black hair does not a pretty head make! Since I'm 32 and not in high school anymore, I must just be having a mid-life crisis! I went out and got red and caramel streaks in my almost black hair, twice!! The first time the red didn't take, so two weeks later I'm back at the salon where she proceeded to strip the non-existent red off and then try again. All the while telling me that there would be minimal, if at all, any damage. Fast forward a couple of hours, and I had near black hair with shocking Coca-cola can red streaks, along with caramel streaks which now looked a much lighter, brassier, yellow due to the screaming red! Yikes! I politely thanked the stylist, screaming on the inside, I'm sure as loud as my hair now looked, and hightailed it home to wash again and again and again with every clarifying shampoo in sight! It is somewhat toned down, but I think I can now receive the gold medal for "snap happy" hair. It's a good thing I too have a head full of hair! I intend to get some of this asap, especially since I'm itching to go back to one color, which means yet another dye job! Thanks for the post!

Oooh, too funny! Kate your stories sound a little too familar, and when I dyed my eyebrows to match my hair in HS it did not go over too well, it looked pretty freaky....how did your come out? I could have used this in back in HS when Meg, OllieBee and I used to spray Sun-In (remember that stuff?) all over our heads and bake in the sun after for hours....over and over again...not too mention all the bad dye jobs we did on ourselves...And just recenly my hubby (yes, my HUBBY) colored my hair, and we made quite a mess out of it...had to do it like 5 times....luckily I have really strong THICK hair and only like a quarter of it fell out! I just had it fixed at my hairdress's and she gave me some awesome stuff in a spray bottle called Bumble and Bumble Tonic Lotion. It is suppossed to refresh your head and feed your hair or something like that ;). I love it, but I think I could also use something like this stuff...so thanks Kate!

I adore this product! I normally find that hair prouducts have noxious smells, but the scent of this one is divine! I barely even need to use a leave in conditioner with this product, it really eliminates frizz & strengthens my hair while detangling it too. I don't have issues w/ hair breakage per se (I used to have hair down to my ass, now it's a few inches above the elbows) but I think it really keeps my hair strong. I'm a little lazy about getting my hair trimmed, but I rarely ever have split ends now! I was able to buy this 40% off from a mall salon... so it's an item you can get a good deal on esp. at stores like Ulta, Trade Secret etc. Well worth the price.

OH, this stuff is a God-send!!!! I also rely on it to keep away damage from dying and drying my hair so often. I'm an obsessive hair dyer... every 6 weeks my hair stylist (who's like a 2nd mom to me) knows I'm going to waltz into her place and ask to have a different cut and a different color. She swears by all Redkin products, but especially this one. I swear, it's a cure all: in the summer in CO and winter in MN it keeps my hair from drying out; in the fall and spring in MN it keeps my hair from poofing out in the humidity. Seriously ladies, Anti-Snap is one of the best beauty products for your hair you'll ever buy!

Champ3377,We did not always like to follow the rules, and I will just leave it at that ;-). I must say, we could have been alot worse, and the things we did that got us in trouble are funny to me now...not the normal teenage stuff that I hear about these days...we would get in trouble for stuff like hoping into a car of an older highschool boy while he was at a redlight, and making him drive us around...or getting caught at the breakfast joint down the street from school by my Dad when it was way past the time we should have been in class. All, pretty inocent....but still trouble at the same time :).

I've got really, really healthy hair right now but my poor sister has been on fire's forever(just got sent right back out to Yosemite's disaster after only two days off) and as a result of hercrazy work schedule and exposure to heat she's experiencing the "snap" effect too. Lookslike I'll have to recommend this to her for heat damage (FIRE heat...not just blow dryerdamage here) and see how it works for her. Thanks for the post!!! BTW...my post-breakup habit was to immediately cut my hair off right after a breakup. Guess we all have ourlittle quirks...don't we!

Love, hugs and shoes...Angie

This stuff does smell wonderful! And my hair is so soft when I use it. I have naturally curly hair. This stuff really gives me a nice, non-frizzy texture. It helps to give nice curl definition. I totally recommend this product! Loves it!

I have been debating on getting this, now I just might. I am trying to grow my hair really long and maybe this will help. I also only wash my ends once a week, which I'm sure helps.

I use the entire line of Redken Extreme.  This line has totally saved my hair.  I color it and then I burn it off with flat irons.  LOL!  I would not have hair if it wasn't for this!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this product! I use it frequently, it smells delishious and it really does help your hair. I've bleached my hair countless times to get it as blonde and beautiful as it is today. My hair was terribly damaged. I use this and silk, and now my hair is very soft and I trim it frequently. Before using this my hair would snap/ break off and would grow (I know it grows because my roots are proof!) but it just kept snapping off. My ends are still rather porous, but this product works mericles! Deffinately try it! Another great product is Silk Infusion, that acually evens out your hairs porosity and ph level. = )
