DESERT ESSENCE TEA TREE OIL TOUCH STICK! GREEN CHI TUESDAYS!
Sweetassgal here to bring you the best natural and organic products our Mother Earth has to offer us by the way of Green Chi Tuesdays!
Well lovely ladies...it MUST be Trader Joe's week here at Megs! My amazing mother and brave little sister came down for the weekend to celebrate my sisters 21st birthday! Technically she turned 21 on July 7th but the fact that she is a firefighter and was out saving the State of California for 48 days prevented her from celebrating properly. Sorry folks...no drunken bender here. She wanted three things...Sushi, Sephora, and Skin care.
Sephora was as always...a wonder of product cruising perfection. Sister was really in the mood to do it up and we had a BLAST! I must say...we hit the best of everything and she walked out of there with a goody bag FILLED with all the things I covet. Two Faced bronzer and Teddy Bear Kabuki Brush, Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy shadow, potion and BIG FATTY mascara, Smashbox nude lip gloss, Smokey/Rocker Eye kits, Jonathan Hydrating Balm, Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion and the Boscia Willowbark Spot Treatment. Follow that up with a night of fabulous sushi and skin care treatments with the girls and all in all it was a perfect night!
The next day I conned my mother into staying an extra night by dangling a trip to Trader Joe's in front of her...gladly...it worked! We continued our wonderful weekend going up and down the aisles picking out the tastiest treats and best natural products around. Finally, heading down the natural beauty products aisle I was struck by yesterday's yearning for my sister's Boscia Willowbark Spot Treatment and hoped I'd find something similar. Then it appeared before me...Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Blemish Touch Stick...just $7 and begging to be taken home. I've learned a lot recently about the wonders of Tea Tree Oil and thought this convenient little stick might be just the natural and vegan thing for spot treatment on the go! It has a strong Tea Tree Oil and Lavender smell (duh) but it dries quickly and dissipates somewhat...at least enough so it doesn't seem overpowering but I'm used to herbal smells so it wasn't that big a deal to me. I wore it overnight and it did help in reducing some inflammation I had and calmed a pending breakout. It's available at your local Trader Joe's or online at Drugstore.com . Here's what they say about it...
Clear Skin - Clear Conscience
blemishes
insect bites
skin irritations

In checking out reviews online I've found some people complain that its too strong or causes redness. Quick fix here is to take a Qtip, wet it, then run it across the ball to dilute the oil...then apply! I'll be giving this a try for a while and post back under the original review to let you know how its going as well as checking in with my sister on her skin progress!
Has anyone else out there tried the Boscia and the Desert Essence to see how the compare? I'm dying to know!!!! GLAM ON megsmakup gals!

I used the desert essence blemish stick...and i thought it was okay but then i discovered a health food store by my house which sells all kinds of natural beauty products and i found a brand name Devita which sells a blemish stick similar to the desert essence one which works way better..... crimegirl already pointed out why that is...i highly recommend the devita blemish stick
Hey there ladies who are asking what Trader Joe's is...its a chain of natural and organic foods and products that is really predominate on the West Coast. I've heardthe East Coast version is Trader Vic's (and I think Vic's is in Hawaii too). Anyway, they pride themselves on affordable prices (ie Two Buck Chuck...it's a $2 bottle of wine that's PRETTY DARN GOOD) and doing things a little differently. It's not your average grocery store for sure! Lots of things you find in their stores can be foundonline or at Whole Foods too. Hope you one day get to experience them...if not...I'msure our local Health Food store has something comparable! Update on the blemish stick...just two days and the breakout on my chin that was rearing its ugly head wentaway. Never even surfaced. NICE!!!!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
Okay everyone...DAY THREE and I'm pimple free! I didn't have much to combat as I'vehad really great skin since I've started using my Juara but I still get one or two hereand there. Anyway, the little breakout that was starting on my chin is completely gone and I'm 100% ZIT free! A friend of mine who NEVER has pimples emailed me the otherday and said she's been using this stuff for years and WON'T be without it. I'm reallypretty tickled about it...especially for the price. I've got to go pick one up for myteenage daughter and see how she likes it too. Only drawback is now I've got nothingto pick at. I know its bad but I'm a PICKER and I can't handle not going after a pimple just asking to be popped. Guess I'll have to get over it. I can't wait to trythis when my monthly comes to see how it combats cyclical breakouts! Lookie there...I'm actually looking forward to my period just to experiment!

This is nice to your skin. I had trouble with the little roller ball, but better luck with the liquid bottle. The cleansing pads from this company are great at not drying out your skin. I like the smell!
Tea tree oil works great! I've been using it on blemishes for probably about seven years. Desert Essence, like the Burt's Bees herbal blemish stick, is made mostly of alcohol, which causes the rednessand irritation for anyone whose sensitive to alcohol-based skin products. I haven't tried this particular product, but if your skin can't handle alcohol I'd stay away from it. Boscia's willowbark, juice beauty's blemish serum, or the body shop version would probably work better.
oh & i will now be ordering sushi for lunch today... hahah
Love this stuff! In fact it's the first Tea Tree product I ever used - got mine from Whole Foods. It's the perfect size for the purse makeup bag. This little wonder even was finally the thing to get rid of a nasty ingrown hair I had a few months back. For blemish control now, I usually stick to Kiehls Tea Tree Toner (no alcohol), and Sonja Dakar Drying Potion (really expensive but works miracles), but this still is in my purse for the mid-day help. I tried the Boscia willow bark stick, and personally I like this better. I was shocked since so many people have had luck with the Boscia, but I just didn't see it really do anything with my blemishes. I highly recommend this Desert Essence product - especially for the price!
Thanks for the input crimegirl. I was hoping someone would have a comparison. I'm dying to hear how my sister likes the Boscia she bought and as soon as she's off thefires in Yosemite I'll find out. I haven't experienced any redness yet but can seehow some might if they're sensitive. If it becomes too drying I may be tempted to give the Juice Beauty a try since so far I love most all of their stuff. I SO appreciateyou sharing your knowledge!

I'm craving every one of those things your sister was! And in that order! Sushi ... Sephora ... Skincare!
Never tried this but very much looking forward to picking it up next time I am at Trader Joe's!
how funny.... i bribe my sister w/trader joe visits also!!!!! and I have used this, as well as, the desert essence straight up tea tree oil but I used it for my scalp (psoriasis altho I used to think itwas dandruff) this was great & portable when I had an outbreak (and it could be sooooooo infuriating and frustrating) I'm now using organic neem oil which has helped me much better... BUT i'd recommend this not just for blemishes... but for itchy scalps and bug bites too!!!
hah.. drawback is nothing to pick at haha... that just cracked meup!
I bought this and it didn't work for me *cries* :(
I am such a huge fan of Trader Joe's. Too bad that I have to drive for over an hour to get there. You can find many unexpected beauty items there. This here is quite a treasure. I have been known to buy 5 at a time when I go. It is highly effective. And I adore the fact that it is an acne treatment that doesn't make a mess. Which also makes it very convenient for travel. My only real issue with it lies in its overwhelming power. My face can be very Jekyll and Hyde. Some days it can be way more sensitive than others. On the sensitive days this stuff stings like crazy. So if you are overly sensitive I do not recommend it. They also make a great facial wash. Give it a try. It smells weird but works wonders!
I have one of these in my son's diaper bag for bug bites. It works pretty well. I've use it on my acne before but haven't seen huge result. Price is right! And I love that it's organic and natural.
I'd love to try this but I've used the tea tree range from the body shop but it didn't work for me.
I've used the blemish stick from Burt's Bees and I ended up returning it! I've discovered that my face really really hates Tea Tree Oil! I'm glad I finally figured that out b/c I've been using Tea Tree for years : (
I have the bottle of plain tea tree oil and like it. Desert Essence's jojoba oil and facial cleansers are also good.
