LUSH'S GO GREEN PERFUME! FRAGRANT FRIDAYS!
Hello there, ladies! Vexy here, your Friday fragrance fiend, bringing you the best in sexy scents and sciatintillng smells!
I do love floral scents. I love citrus scents. But in the summertime, they seem to be everywhere. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm just as likely to be wearing Sarah Horowitz's Perfect Gardenia or Pucci Vivara as the next girl, but sometimes I feel like breaking out from the crowd of citrus and florals in the summertime, but still stay fresh and light-smelling.
Now, I love LUSH. Their bath bombs and bath melts are to die for and some of their soaps smell downright good enough to eat. But I've never really associated them with "perfume". So when I grabbed something from the front counter that looked like lip balm, I nearly jumped out of my skin when the saleslady went "stop!". She then explained to me that it was a solid perfume and NOT a lip balm. Immediately, my scent-sense was tingling. (But, you say, isn't that what we call the sense of smell, Vexy? No. It's different. It's my sixth perfume sense. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.)
So instead, I lifted the little tin to my nose and I fell immediately in love. The little tub contained the freshest, most herbal scent I've ever tried. It smelled like a fresh day in the woods, after the rain. I like woodsy scents, but most of them are too mossy or smoky for my tastes. This one was juuuust right. (I sound like Goldilocks! Where are my bears?) The top notes of thyme and grapefruit are almost citrusy in their brightness but are far more "green" in their fragrance. It quickly mellows to a wonderful, fresh herbal scent that's not too overpowering and not too "medicinal", as some herbal scents can be. The base note (which the LUSH site says is vetivert) almost calls to mind the earth and soil in a pine forest.
Here's what LUSH has to say about Go Green:
"Refreshingly green solid perfume rejuvenates and revitalizes
Go Green is the scent of freshly squeezed grapefruits and intoxicating neroli oil dancing about a base of smoky vetivert, swirling amongst a herb garden of fennel, thyme and cedar wood. Get it in a small, portable, recyclable metal tin to dab on every time you need a quick blast of citrus-herbal greenness to liven up your day."
I love, love, LOVE this scent when I'm feeling a little more earthy and less girly. I got it in the solid form, which also moisturizes thanks to the cocoa butter and jojoba oil in the suspension, but it comes in a spray form which the saleslady told me was good as a deodorant and a room spray as well. I tried the spray, and I liked it, but it seems in the liquid form the grapefruit is far more prominent and it makes the top notes a bit too strong for my tastes. It lasts far longer than the solid, however. The solid lasts a couple of hours, more or less, depending on your skin chemistry.
But! The little tin is so portable, you can reapply it anywhere. The tin is recyclable, so it's really eco-friendly (as all LUSH products are). Another thing I like about it? The smell is subtle and fresh, so it's almost completely foolproof when it comes to "overdoing" it (a problem I have had in the past!). Another bonus- it's a really unisex scent, so feel free to share it with your guy if he wants to try a little something different! Just be careful you don't mix it up with your lip balm- I've done it once, without thinking, and the taste is icky icky icky.
Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone who's looking for a nice summer scent that's not overpowering and that's a nice, exciting break from the summer-time mold of florals and citrus.
What about you ladies? Any Go Green eco-warriors out there?

I'm a Lush Fan too! Everything I've tried from Lush, I've Loved. Years ago I was on Lush kick, I was using their lemon bar soap, lip balm, and some face stuff (I can't remember) loved it all.Next time I'm at the mall I need to check this out. I think I willLove this, I'm not a huge floral scent perfume fan. AllthoughI've been using Fresh Cannibis Rose and I LOVE IT!!!!
i love LUSH products and went through a major LUSH phase last summer. hmmm, that sentence makes it sound like i enjoyed too many cocktails last summer, which i probably did, but that's not what i meant :) i think its time i get back into their stuff. i love anything grapefruit and have recently gotten more into greener scents so this sounds like it would be perfect. thank you vexy!
I adore grapefruit infused scents...my current body butter for summer is grapefruitscented and I just love the way it makes me feel summery and clean. Since I live inCali I'll track it down and give it a try. I just have to remember not to mistakeit for my fav lip balm after a night of martinis!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
I was just about to commit compu-cide! Part of your this post came in and I was just NOW able to troubleshoot and get the rest of it. Call me the village idiot, but Pittsburghers are always the last to know--I never even heard of LUSH products (hiding my red face). There's a silly joke about this city that says, "If you find out the end of the world is coming, move to Pittsburgh because you know you'll have at least ten more years to live!" Okay, my take. LOVE the fact that this comes in a portable tin. I sold Avon in high school, and they are one of the few companies of which I was aware that had solid scents (besides Love Baby Soft). I have had small bottles explode in my purse and hate that. Moreover, with a tin I never have to feel "naked" without fragrance. Vexy, you did a great piece and I wonder if I'm close to "smelling" what you're describing. Would you ladies possibly recall this? When I was little, there were only a handful of shampoos to buy--Breck, White Rain, Prell, Gee, You Hair Smell Terrific! and some others. Clairol introduced Herbal Essence. It was NOT the same as it is today, available in many scents. For many, many years, it was a clear green liquid and it was so unusually refreshing and uniquely great (like being in the woods after a rain) that I actually smelled it every time I went by the bathroom--twisted, I know. My friends, mom, and sister went crazy over it, too. That's what's coming to my mind here. Am I close? My husband is really into fragrances and we've tried unisex scents, only he uses them up before I get my fair share. This seems absolutely worth looking into; I didn't buy any cosmetics in the drugstore today, and so I do believe I deserve this treat. Thanks, Vexy!
Fun review! I adore...yes ADORE LUSH products and often come home from a trip with an extra suitcase full as there is no way to buy here in South Texas unless you want to risk that shipping from CA.Never tried one of theirscents and this one sounds fresh and fabulous for the opressive heat here! Will get my hands on this and pop into my gym-bag for sure...LOVE that you love LUSH as well and thanks for thegreat review,I agree that sometimes you just want to sell "clean and green..."
I love love love Lush. I haven't tried this fragrance, but I admit I am hooked on Silky Underwear. I get more compliments when I use all of the Lush products. Their shampoo bars are the best.

Ohhhhh sounds perfect! Where I live it's rainy and foresty though so I could blend in with my surroundings. Which would not be good. I own Lavanilla Grapefruit and get so many compliments on it.
Lush products are so wonderful! I have been using them for years. I first discovered them in Toronto. I was thrilled when they came to the states. The products are great and the customer service is out of this world. I called and complained about something minor and they sent me a huge box of items in response. Wow! I have used other Lush scents and been pleased. I recently smelled this and it was divine. But Vexy's review pushes me to go all the way and buy it. Yeah! THANKS!
I love the packaging! Feels like you're spraying on cleaner on yourself. I haven't tried green scents but this would be great to try.
At first, I thought it was a spritz for hardressers to sqoosh out water on hair haha. Not keen on the packaging.
I wish i had this!
I hate the packaging, I mean it looks like some cleaning product for my house...
