BIOLAGE EXTRAVAGANZA! HUMP DAY HAIR DAY!
Katehrm777 here with another installment of Hump Day Hair Day to help everyone achieve beautiful, bouncy, bodyfull (made up word), bodacious hair!
I went to UC Berkeley for college (see above for proof of my excellent skills of alliteration). There are a lot of great people at Berkeley. There are people who want to save the world, and really smart people and driven people and intimidating people. There are not, however, a lot of particularly well groomed people. I could walk around Berkeley and feel like I had an edge on people if I had washed my hair within the past 2 weeks and did not have dreadlocks. Knowing the difference between eyeliner and mascara made me a beauty maven. Having bleached blonde hair with a full face of makeup and wearing heels to class? Made me a bit of a freak.
However I recently moved to Newport Beach. Now I feel un-groomed if my hair is in a ponytail. People here not only wash their hair on a regular basis but they get it washed and styled by a professional EVERY TIME (I am not kidding...terrifying. Slash I am super jealous and wish I had the time and money to have it done to me). Everyone is blonde. Just wearing my hair down and a clean outfit doesn't cut it anymore. So I have been wanting to add a little bit more style to my hair and I was thinking of going and investing in a good hairspray. Instead I got Biolage Freeze Fix Hair Spray to test.
Here is what Biolage has to say about Freeze Fix:
"Biolage styling strengthens and shines to optimize style results. STRONGStem Technology blends strong-cling polymers, strengthening macro-lipids, high-climbing akebia vine and resilient sugarcane. Biolage Freeze Fix Hair Spray is a humidity-resistant, water-free, fast-dry spray for all-day control. Lifts and locks styles into place with firm hold and aerial support."
It all sounds very scientific and confusing to me, but what I have to say is that this stuff works really well! I always had a bit of an aversion to hairspray because I had images of Aqua Net-style 80's hair, and I felt like it takes away the shine and bounciness of hair. But this stuff holds your style without getting sticky (as long as you don't use too much) and actually adds shine! I tried the firm hold, but there is also a light hold, a medium hold and an ultra firm hold. When I teased my hair before I went out the other night, it held through an entire night of dancing and didn't frizz at all. All in all, I would say if you are trying to step up your style and need a bit of hold this stuff definitely does the trick.
Any other ladies love themselves some hairspray or can't get enough of the Biolage line?

I only use WEN Cleansing Conditioners but now and again, I do like a little extra help and Biolage works well.I used the whole Ojon line prior to discovering WEN but I've given all of my remaining Ojon products away.I have fine, naturally wavy, color treated hair and WEN is the only product that impressed my colorist. Here's a pic of my hair with WEN: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff271/redwengirl/WENHair.jpg
I've used Biolage Hair Balm, the heavy duty conditioning stuff that comes in a canister. Whoa! This is great conditioner, it gave me really supple curls. I now use Natures Gate conditioner...I cannot for the life of me remember what kind it is...smells like a Head Shop - total hippee!Biolage is great!
I would probably never survive in Newport Beach. I barely do my hair, ever- mostly it's just left to do what it wants or it's pulled back into a ponytail. I don't mind hairsprays, but that's mostly because I'm a theater kid and I've had to use them forever. My problem is I tend to over-apply them: my hairspray experience was always more, more, more, so the hairstyle wouldn't come out while dancing! I'll keep this in mind, however, if I ever reach a point in my life where I do have to style my hair daily.
hey kate, your post is so appropo today. i was just telling a friend who lives in newport beach that if you are at a "normal" weight in newport you are "fat"!. i live in orange county but work out of phoenix as a flight attendant and all my co-workers laugh that you can spot an orange county flight a mile away! i don't know if its something in the water or what. all i know is that i have to work really hard and read megsmakeup a lot to keep up out here! carol b

And I haven't used Biolage in a long time but I have coworker who has the most lbeautiful, loooong dark hair and she uses Biolage and nothin' else. So it must be good!

Champ, I am sitting at my desk laughing my tushy off because as we speak, my hair is piled on top of my head, looking very much like Pebbles!!! I have naturally wavy/curly hair and since I left for work this morning at 5am and didn't have time (or the energy) to straighten it, it ended up like this! No excuse, I know, but I still think it's funny! Now, on to the product reviewed. Let me just say that I LOVE all thing Biolage! The smell is wonderful, it keeps my thick hair soft and easy to maintain. I am with you Kate on the fact that I don't really use hair spray but I know I should in order to keep my style from going flat. I think I will give this one a try...thanks for the review!!!
I have personally never tried this product, but I have a couple of tips I would like to share :) I like to really rub my shampoo into my scalp into a mini massage, and that seems to add oodles of volume. Whenever I'm between washes, I try combing my hair while flipping my head down, and that seems to add volume. Then last resort is pile it up like that before I go to bed, and wake up with fuller hair. Using a sidewards part and boar bristle brush to style my hair seems to help a touch:)I'm also going to try out cake beauty's refreshing powders and sprays to see whether their any good at volume for darker haired girls! That was a very well written review kate :)
I seen you were talking about wanting more volume, may I suggest Root Lift by Redken? It works fabulously. Also Big Sexy Hair will give you wonderful volume. The boar bristle brush really smoothes the hair, I use mine frequently. = )

Biolage has a great line of hair products! We do use a few of their products in the salon. We don't sell them though. Biolage, along with other salon products are all water soluble (meaning NO product build-up!).

Biolage is good, but I'm a hardcore Bumble and Bumble fan so I don't use any Biolage products.
Very nice :)
i've never heard of this! sounds great!
