EMERGENCY HUMP DAY HAIR DAY BREAKTHROUGH!! OOKISA HAIRCARE??
Meg here and I just had to barrage you with 2 posts today because I seriously have to know if A. You've tried this stuff and B. Does it work? I've been hearing it is the new tinseltown craze and I'm getting on the horn with the OOKISA PR people today to get us some bottles for review. Here's the dealio, I have baby-fine hair. That's not good. However, some of my friends mom's are telling me to put a sock in it because their hair is actually thinning out and in the worst case scenario, they're getting baldy patches. Yikes!
Instead of getting hair plugs, I'm going to turn them on to this OOKISA brand. It claims it addresses the three major causes of hair thinning and loss. They even have supplements that have DHT Blockers (stuff you gain as you age) that you take along with their Shampoo and Conditioner because they say healthy hair comes from a healthy body (makes sense).
This stuff is pricey, not as pricey as nice wigs or surgery but definitely the "La Mer of Hair". So should I get my paws on this? I have to know if this works! From being on the F-List I know D-Listers really well. They're telling me the A and B-Lister's panties are all up in a bunch over this stuff !
Anyone out there in cyberspace tried it?

It is true, OOKISA is not really a different approach from Nioxin. Nioxin has shampoo and conditioner and follicle serums and vitamins you take daily. The ingredient list is different obviously, but the approach is not something new. The question is do the ingredients in OOKISA offer something that Nioxin or other competitors are not able to deliver? I have no idea but it will be interesting to see how my hair responds to this product. Truth be told though, if you can't afford to waste your money on a product you don't know works, then DON'T. Hopefully there will be more online reviews about OOKISA soon, so that those who are suffering from thin hair or just want more (gimmemore) will know if OOKISA offers bang for the buck. Lotsa buck, but where da bang?
I have used it religiously for three months-the Thickening "souffle" is applied before regular mousse and the nightime follicle serum is rubbed in before bed on dry scalp. I also use the supplement. All three are used in their "Introductory" package. I was seeing a LOT of hair collecting in the drain after a shower and could feel a noticable thinning. After three months, I have new growth at my temples-the most noticable loss sight. My hair feels thicker. I really don't know if it is coincidence (my stress levels have improved and I am eating a little better)or the product. But I am going to continue to use the product. I had an issue with the first shipment (the bottle of souffle broke and gunk went all over the inside of the package), I called and their customer service was great. This despite of there not being a lot of help on their website.
I've not used this product but as a person with baby fine thin straight hair, I'm always looking for remedies to thicken up my mane and to get it fuller with more body! My vast experience has not been all that successful until lately when my colorists disappeared and the salon I was going to suddenly closed. Anyway, I found myself in a newly opened Aveda salon and I cannot tell you how WONDERFUL it is. Not only is it half the price of the hoity toity salons I used to go to ... my "team" is wonderful. OK, so I'll stop and go on with my recommendation for those of you with thin hair (not sure if this does anything for those losing hair, but for those with baby fine thin hair....I swear by it ... and you'll pocket book will appreciate it as well! Steps 1 & 2 - Pure Abundance shampoo and conditioner: $14 each (neither will weigh down your hair and it's great to use daily); Step 3 - Brilliant: $15/8.5 oz (spray all over before brushing out your wet hair); Step 4 - Volumizing Tonic: $14/3.4 oz (pull up your hair and spray only on the roots where you want extra lift); Step 5 - Phomollient Styling Foam: $14/6.7 oz (pump a few squirts in your palm and apply on the ends and run it through the rest of your hair). Best wishes to all!
hello ladies i was wondering if this is the same stuff as nioxin becuse nioxin is much cheaper. let me know thanks
After I had my entire thyroid removed, my hair was a total disaster (within about three weeks of the surgery. The shampoo and conditioner made a real difference in two weeks.I no longer use the products but would never hesitate to recommedn them to anyone who has had chemo, thyroid removal, or hair loss from stress or age. $$$$$ but worth it because the results come quickly.
"Secret ingredients"!!! I'll bet they're "secret".
I've never heard of it but I also have some thinning here and there. I think this hair care line sounds especially appealing to women of a "certain age". I'd love to give it a try!!!!
I haven't tried this (I'm in a current experiment with Ojon, Frederic Fekkai, and Jonathan to see who has the best deep treatment and thickening properties) but would LOVE to add it to my science project. I too have very, very fine hair. It'scurly and coarse but NOT thick or full. Its strange...I seem to get all of the worst qualities in things. I have baby finehair on my head yet deal with the daily battle of forest-like hair on my legs. HATE IT! Anyway, this could be interesting.I see in your pic's that your hair is either straight or made to be straight so I'd like to hear how it works for you. Irepresent the curly girls with fine hair so it would be an interesting contrast. Let's find ouT

I am a mother and my hair's just not the same anymore. It's ultra thin and sparse. I've tried almost every single drug store shampoo and conditioner out there and none seems to work. Although I do remember Finesse being my favorite before I had my baby & my hair started changing. Unfortunately, I don't know if Finesse has been discontinued or not but I can't seem to find it anywhere anymore to try and see if it still works on my hair. Therefore, I've tried Redken but I don't recall it doing much to my hair. I've tried Ojon and yeah, it made my hair a little thicker but it also frizzed my hair. So then I tried Jonathan and it gave me volume but it left my hair shineless. I wanted to try Fekkai next BUT I landed on an Ookisa ad and it offered a 30-day free trial so I gave in. And what do you know? I fell in love with it after the first wash. You definitely see and feel a total difference from the beginning. It gave my hair volume and my hair felt thicker yet still silky and shiny. The only downfall is that it is quite pricey. However, I'd really recommend this product to everyone.
>>>They even have supplements that have DHT Blockers (stuff you gain as you age) that you take along with their Shampoo and Conditioner because they say healthy hair comes from a healthy body (makes sense).<<< Buying oral supplements to go along with your shampoo sounds likea bunch of foolishness.Oral supplements should be purchased from a company who's business it is to make supplements.Beware of asian products. They have no problem poisoning their own people and I am willing to bet they won't think twice about posioning you (again)!!!

I'm usually up for trying new hair care. I've jumped on the Ojon bandwagon, and I'm seriously thinking about trying something I read about it some blog called Thriven (anyone try this???). I'm quite concerned about this though, doesn't DHT stand for Dihydroxytestosterone??? Should you be taking that as a supplement? If you're looking for hair regrowth minoxydil seems to be the best researched for topical application. Why take unregulated horomones for something that may not even be due to a hormone deficiency??
Never heard of em', these Ookisa people, who are they? Having fine hair myself I have come up w/a regime that is very effective. 100% Tee Tree Oil. Just add several drops to your current shampoo, massage thoroughly and VOILA! you will have lustrous locks lickidy split! I also use Nizoral dandruff shampoo 3 times per week. Not only is my hair fuller but.....I have seen re-growth in my thinner areas. No baldy patches for me, but still this is one area I don't want to be thin! Even if you don't suffer from dandruff I guarantee you will benefit from using this regime and it doesn't take long to start seeing results. Healthy scalp equals happy hair! Make sure you do a little patch test before slathering TTO all over your noggin, allergic reactions are not at all fetching! Sadly, I did not realize you had already chosen a DD Diva. However, I wrote a review for Crest and I think I have finally figured what I want to be when I grow up. If you are interested, check out my profile and my review. I love all things beauty and I love writing. I have always heard if you do what you are passionate about happiness and fulfillment will follow. If you ever need someone else to write reviews, I am ready and willing. Just like I used to write to the boys in elementary school," if you like me mark the box with the yes, if you do not like me mark the box with the no." Oh yeah, I went there then and I am not afraid to go there now!
What are the not-so-secret ingredients in Ookisa? I did a search and turned up nothing on this brand... I have very fine hair, and it’s grown out to about shoulder length. Typically that’s a tragic look for me in the humidity of So. IN. I’ll have to say that I’m all over the Ojon bandwagon, too, because my hair actually looks full - even lush.
LOVE Ojon, all of it! While I stil have most of my hair,I do see a bit of a "thinning 'thang" going onwith my fine hair...I am SO all in if you like this product!!! I DO see a hugedif in shine and texture with my hair after giving up wheat, meat, dairy, and sugar last year...yes,I eat a lotof produce,LOL! My hair is thick and fine and I'd love to give it a bit of much needed pouf!!! I DO livein Texas after all...:)
I received my OOKISA products tonight. The free trial kit includes the Nighttime Follicle Renewing Serum, Hair Health Dietary Supplement, Fortifying Shampoo and Replenishing Conditioner. The shampoo and conditioner smell true to their ingredients, which includes Camelia Leaf extract and White Peony. OOKISA delivers a pleasingly delicate floral scent. I have not used the shampoo or conditioner yet but I did rub some of the conditioner between my fingertips and it is very milky and rich. I used the Follicle Renewing Serum tonight (apply to dry scalp is recommended) and that was pretty easy, about 8 pumps directly to the scalp then gently massaged to ensure it was well distributed. It absorbed quickly and a few minutes later I felt a very faint warm feeling all over my scalp, was nice. After dinner I took one of the Hair Health vitamins. In the morning I'll give the Shampoo and Conditioner a try. While I can't attest to OOKISA's performance at this time, it does have a luxurious air about it. Let's see if that luxurious 'air' can be turned into more 'hair' As most of you know, it takes time to grow hair and consistency is the key to any successful regimen. I look forward to reporting back in about 2 weeks, then in 4 weeks. *FREE TRIAL IS 30 DAYS* I have 30 days to decide whether or not OOKISA is worth the high cost. If you're doing the free trial you should be aware that if you don't cancel your membership with them, they will begin sending you more product and they will charge you. So if you start the free trial, be aware of that time constraint. 30 days is not a lot of time to tell if a product is working, especially when we're talking about growing hair, because as you know, hair takes TIME to grow.
I've never heard of it... but..... i also dont have thinning hair... i actually seem to have new baby hairgrowing at my hairline. this could be either because i had a baby (7 months ago so probably not) or because i've been using organic neem oil on my scalp to help my psoriasis (helps better than tea tree and smells better (ok it's earthy as opposed to medicine-y if that's better)... but seriously... i'd absolutely recommend the neem oilfor people w/thinning hair.... these baby hairs around my hairline are driving me NUTS.. but... it's betterthan thinning hair or psoriasis on my scalp (another treatment for that btw is believe it or not VICKS) yeah... i should be your alternative nut-job treatment review chick... wanna know what i can do w/peroxide? hahahah
TTO is the bomb.com. there's nothing it doesn't help - i had an herbalist once that wanted me to drink it - clearly she was insane as it tastes JUST like what it smells like. and even more clearly i'm insane as i did it, at least once. sad.TTO + stylemamma = LUV4Ever!
OOKISA !2 week update! Hello everyone! 2 weeks has passed and it is time to give my review and thoughts about the OOKISA hair thickening système.There is no contention that this is a luxurious product composed of high-end ingredients. The real question is DOES IT INCREASE HAIR DENSITY? Does it renew follicles resulting in healthier hair growth as claimed? When a company claims they deliver more than just a luxury product, one should evaluate such a company through a critical lense and proceed with caution. The pros: 1) The fortifying shampoo cleanses the hair thoroughly, it is pleasant. 2) The replenishing conditioner will not weigh fine hair down.3) It smells wonderful.4) Did I mention it smells wonderful? 5) The regimen/system is relatively easy to follow. 6) No sulfates or parabens etc.The cons: 1) It is very EXPENSIVE 2) NO PROOF! * THERE IS NO CLINICAL DATA TO BACK-UP OOKISA'S CLAIM THAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE INCREASED HAIR DENSITY AND VOLUME or that it will RENEW your hair follicles. ( I contacted OOKISA on two separate occasions asking for any clinical data or controlled research they might have done in order to substantiate their claims. Both times I was advised they could not provide me with any clinical data to support their claims or that such data even existed.) 3) The shampoo, although sulfate free, dries out my hair. 4) The conditioner is not easily distributed through long hair, so if you have long hair you could potentially find yourself burning through a lot of product at 30 bucks a pop (ouie!) 5) 30 days is NOT enough time to know and see if the products really work as claimed. Conclusion: Without any clinical data to back up the claims and for the price point they are asking, OOKISA is a risky venture if you don't have a lot of paper to blow. If you are independently wealthy and love luxury hair products then by all means knock yourself out. However, if you're not a rich celebrity (like me) and you don't have money to blow on *clinically un-proven* products, than I don't recommend it. OOKISA's performance on hair texture was just so-so and while it does smell absolutely exquisite, I would not pay that kind of money for that reason alone. If you can't afford to waste your money then I would recommend a product that is clinically proven to re-grow hair. There are such products out there. OOKISA is not one of them. Spend your money on something that is proven!I am also disappointed that the Susan G. Komen Foundation would lend it's stamp of approval to a product that is un-proven, and especially at this price point. I am sure there are many women who are post-chemotherapy who are desperate to improve their hair and will buy the product simply because OOKISA is a sponsor. I find that sad and I would encourage OOKISA to provide their clients basic clinical data to substantiate their claims.
I tried Ookisa, not sure why, because my hair is thick, full and if anything, I have too much, but I'm a complete sucker for new products, so I gave it a shot. It didn't make a difference that I could see, I work with the public, so I get a lot of comments on my hair, how "lucky" I am to have so much of it, etc. I didn't receive any more or less after using the Ookisa system. The vitamins were pretty much standard "hair, skin and nail" type vitamins that I have purchased elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. The serum did feel nice on my scalp, and I tried the mousse a few times, it didn't seem any different than any drugstore or salon mousse I've used. I ended up paying for 2 months worth of the product, because you can't cancel through the website, and I had to summon up the patience to call and be put through to an actual person. It's very pricey for what you get, and even if I needed a hair thickening system, I think I would try nioxin before spending the money on this again.
I am currently using the Ookisa and I love it! I had my thyroid removed due to thyroid cancer, and while most people don't know this, loss or decrese in your thyroid hormone output can have an affect on your hair and skin. Well my hair did take a hit, in all areas, even my eyebrows! Ookisa is a recent venture for me and after living with less hair than I've had for the majority of my life using a product like this has really helped my confidence. It has helped my new growth especially at my temples and where I feel its thinning towards the crown of my head. I also have to rant about the texture of my hair after I get out of the shower! It had so much more body, as well as great texture, and held curl so much better (before hairspray). The package I ordered also came with a serum that is applied nightly to the scalp to increase hair growth. After 6-8 pumps are rubbed into the scalp, it warms and lets you know that it has been applied and that its working. I love this feeling. I also have been putting some on a Q-tip and appliying to my overplucked eyebrows at night and am happy to report that I am also showing regrowth there as well!
Style may be on the surface, but you can be deep and still have some - Clarissa Gough
I can't wait to hear more info on this product....I'd love to try it but it is very expensive esp since it is not a "proven" item yet. if anyone has any expertise in this product or hair loss products...i'd love to hear from you so i can figure out if this is the product for me to try :)
You all had great Info.. Thanks! But like most of us still not sure if i should try??? I will keep checking back..Thanks
mixed reviews here.....i dont need something klike this (yet-maybe when i am older i will) bjut i am interested to see if this is working for anyone? would love to see some before and after pics
I'm with you on this one Carly I don't need something like this at the moment either, hope it works for those of you that need it x x
I have this product, I didn't read the writing on the wall apparently...i thought it was 5.95 for the products (S&H) and then that was that, NOPE, Its way to $$ for me. I have to send it back and cancel the membership pronto. I love the aroma, but the shampoo really dried out my hair, the conditioner was kinda thin and on the runny side. My hair is pretty long, middle of my back and I always need extra conditioner. This is too expensive, I'll be through a bottle in less then a week. As for the follicle rejuvenator, it was interesting...tingly, warm.
WOW! After reading these reviews I don't feel too bad about not being able to afford these products! I can't believe that the Susan G. Komen Foundation lent it's stamp of approval to a product that is unproven. Maybe they gave a big donation or something.
I know nothing about ookisa, but if you are on the F-list... we megheads must be on the z-list.. Do you have a claim to fame? Reality TV really does wonders for people!!
I am losing my hair in hand fulls and i am going to try it.
I ordered the trial for $2.00 shipping charges. I tried the overnight spray last night & liked that. This morning I tried the shampoo & conditioner and I LOVE THEM. I have long light brown hair which is colored and it is wavy, so it tends to get dry very quickly but I have also been losing my hair. Well, just from one night and one wash, I can tell my hair is softer, shinier, feels fuller, and the ends don't look so dry. It's expensive but so is buying lots of products that don't work. I go through shampoo and conditioner at the rate of 1 to 2 so will probably order more conditioner. I will do this for two months and then will really be able to tell if the "thinning" has stopped. But just for the luxury of the way my hair feels, I am willing to sacrifice other things so I can keep on buying the shampoo and conditioner. I take other supplements so I decided not to buy the ones OOkisa offered. Will let you guys know how it goes with the thinning but I LOVE IT!!!!
I've listened to alot of the raves about Frederic Fekkai and I have finally succumbed , I bought some from my beauty supply store saturday and will let you know how it goes when I use it.

I'd never heard of Ooksia, but I have used Nioxin and wanted to share my experience with that. For most of my life I've had insanely thick, curly, super long hair. Then a few years ago I was on some medication that made half of my hair fall out. Yes, HALF, not even joking. I had bald patches and my hair was super thin and frail. I got it cut to my shoulders to make it seem fuller, since the length only emphasized how thin and patchy it was. Even then I had to keep getting it cut shorter and shorter so that it didn't look stringy-- one stylist put a piece of newspaper under my hair to show me how bad it was, you could read the paper through it. My best friend is a stylist and got me a bunch of Nioxin products; Cleanser, Scalp Therapy, and Scalp Treatment, all System 3 (for normal to thin color treated hair), which is meant to add thickness and strength. She also got me the Intensive Therapy Weightless Reconstructive Masque and the Deep Repair Hair Masque (which I've used up). My hair came back quicker and you could see and feel the difference in thickness. I honestly swear by these products, they were a lifesaver for me. I was embarrassed to be seen in public, and even at home by my fiance while waiting for my hair to grow back (and of course it happened right around the time my license needed to be renewed, so with the regrowth I look like I have a mullet. Still need to get that retaken, there's no way I'm waiting until 2011). I'm trying to get my fiance to use it as well since he has baby fine hair that's starting to thin out.. he's still stuck on using 'cheap manly products' (crap like Axe), but hopefully I can convince him that it's better to use 'fancy froo-froo' products than to be bald.
Sorry to disappoint all of you, but Ooksia is a scam. I tried it for 30 days and it absolutely did not do anything to change the condition, structure i.e giving me thicker hair. We all have to be careful of all the hype around these products. There has to be scientific evidence to back up their claims. I trust Paula Begoun (Paula's Choice) and she always says that a product has to have scientific evidence. I'm afraid that ooksia is just another company trying to make a big buck and when we fall for their scam they just get richer and we get poorer. SORRY
I've heard alot about Paula's choice actually and i've been really curious to order off that site actually a couple time's actually!

I haven't tried it, but there's a really great site called makeupalley.com that has reviews over alot of products. Hope that helped.
i have only tried the ookisa shampoo--you can buy these products separately & stay away from the dicey "free" offer--& it is fabulous. i have the worst hair in the world--baby fine, flat, flyaway when it gets cold, etc. & now with age, it was getting worse. a lot worse.the site "truth in aging" is very good for finding about the quality of ingredients one should look for in hair & cosmetics. most shampoos are just basically detergent & they will thin your hair over time. drugstore cheap is not cheap in the long run. anything that foams--avoid.as for hair regrowth, the most recommended is folligen hair & scalp nutrient cream. it's not expensive & works. ookisa shampoo has excellent ingredients, does not foam, is paraben & sulfate free. my hair hasn't looked this good since i was 17.
I haven't tried it, my hair is really thick!
Very nice :)
i've never heard of this! sounds great!

i find that massaging oils in your head work better than these brands...its a lot cheaper too!
