PHYSICIANS FORMULA CUSTOM EYE ENHANCING SHADOW & LINER! WELCOME GIGI OUR DRUGSTORE DEAL WRITER!!
Champ3377 here with my veryt first DD review! Ladies please chime in!
I’m thrilled to be here (thank you Meg, Kate, and the rest of you truly beautiful women who humble me!) A little about myself: I “do” pretty (Do you hear “How Lovely to be a Woman” playing in the background?) I used to do “obscenely expensive pretty,” but my job as an instructor at a private high school keeps me working nearly pro bono, though I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So now I’m all for “cheap chic.” Two years ago I told a colleague that I liked another woman’s skirt (feminine, flirty, and simply becoming on her). She raised one eyebrow and, with a face contorted by repulsion, said, “Gigi, you would. And you probably enjoy bows on packages and the color pink.” Those were fighting words. I replied, “Yes, I do. Moreover, I go crazy over roses, blossoms on trees, lilacs and hyacinth in the spring, the ocean and sky, clothing, perfume, and makeup, makeup, makeup. Should I continue?” I don’t believe she cared for that remark but, hey, I speak my mind.
Pick of the week: Physicians Formula’s Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner. Each compact contains nine coordinated matte and shimmer hues. A savvy physician whose wife was highly allergic to nearly all makeup developed this line and, as they say, the rest is history. This brand is gentle and safe for tender, allergy-prone eyes. The consistency is soft--finely milled and blends effortlessly. These shades can easily take you from work to a special night out, as you control the intensity of pigment. No separate eyeliner necessary here—smudge one of the deep shades beneath lashes or create a smoldering “cat eye.” Only one grumble: Physicians Formula has promoted these shadows by advising you choose a palette to match your own eye color. I disagree. At the reasonable drugstore price for this, buy several and experiment! The item shown here is meant for hazel eyes (like mine). Evidently they feel that browns and mauves work best, but think back to grade school or art class. Recall the color wheel? Complementary shades create contrast and make eye color appear more vivid. Actually, hazel/green is also greatly enhanced by variations of lavender, eggplant, and violet as well as those shown. Brown eyes “pop” with tones of blue-gray and indigo, and blue eyes (lucky you!) are flattered with shades of camel, taupe, and brown. Be wary of pink-based shadow. Wearing a shade infused with orange (as it often is), may leave you looking like you’ve developed a serious case of conjunctivitis (not attractive, to be sure). However, PF colors are pure pinks, so not to worry. These palettes come with a unique, angled felt applicator (good for touch-ups), but invest in eyeshadow brushes if possible, even DD versions. Using them is akin to trading in a giant child’s marker for a felt-tip pen; you have ultimate control.
Here's what they say "Enhance your natural eye color with three blendable trios that color, contour and line your eyes for illuminating, high impact.
Available in 4 shades."
I say Drugstore Deal Worth Every Penny!

LOVE your review girl! I'm running to check this out tomorrow...usually eyeshadow and I are limited to shadesthat are easy to put on without mucking them up but these sound fabulous! I have tried other Physican's Formulaitems and I agree that they are quality for the cash!
I agree, no need to follow what a company claims is the right color for you, based solely on the color of you eyes. I have blue-green eyes, and my mother green. What looks good on me doesn't look good on her, because our base colors are different, and our charisma is different. If you feel a color doesn't look good on you, others will pick up on that, and also think it doesn't look good. You have to wear that color like you mean it!Was actually thinking of going into town to pick up some stuff for a trip I'm about to take. I should look into these while I'm there ^_^.And gogo teachers! Not enough praise for what you do, I say!
Oooh, I may have to invest in one of these! The green eyes version looks so pretty! I'm fortunate enough to only have mildly sensitive eyes. Only a few eyeshadows make my eyes itch (Too Faced is the only one I've found) and though I sometimes get sty-like pimples along the inside of my lashline (not a fun experience, since you can't pop 'em and you can't medicate 'em and they rub against your eye like you've got a little pebble stuck in it every time you blink), just washing my face and using a little extra eye makeup remover takes care of that. I actually had no idea Physician's Formula was formulated for his wife! (Then again, I've never tried anything of theirs.) Thank you, Gigi, O Bringer of Knowledge (and Beautimous Deals)!
Physicians Formula is one the best brands you can buy at a drug store. Ive never been disappointed when i have purchase one of their products and i did buy this eyeshadow palette for brown eyes and i did notice that it enhance the brown in my eyes. I used the darker shades in the palette and i love it cause its mildly dramatic so it doesnt look like you are wearing alot of make up. It just compliments your eyes....and its a bargain!
this looks like a great value for eyeshadows, Gigi. I've tried Almay's "match your eye color" palette, and i felt it didn't do much for my hazel eyes and it was only 3 colors i think. purples, though, definitely make them look greener, and i think navy shadow also makes them "pop", especially if you use it as a liner.
nice review... and you are dead-on re the colorwheel & the colors thatcompliment different eye colors (browns/taupe make my green eyes blue - or atleast LOOK blue"ish")... also on board w/brushes vs applicators. I've never tried physicians formula, this may prompt me to.
Remember, not only can you use the colors opposite your eye-color on the colorwheel to enhance, use the shades on either side! Like Teals and golds and bronzes.

Awesome guide to the colors!!! I have hazel eyes but I wear just about every eye shadow color out there - I have found that a bright pink makes my eyes pop like no other, it makes them look very green. I would run out and buy this right now except for the fact that I have sooo many eyeshadows it's ridiculous. I just threw out a huge palette of Estee Lauder eyeshadows because I'm out of room! I am looking for the perfect gray smoky eye kit though, if any one has any recommendations!
Great job Gigi! But then again I knew it would be! I just have to say...THANK YOU for breaking the "kit that matches your eyes" curse. I have blue eyes and LOVE toexperiment with ALL sorts of color! Color is god's gift to the world...use his paletteand try something new. I'm a huge fan of Urban Decay and have no qualms about steppingout in broad daylight with my eyes sparkling in "Lust"...an electric purple pop thatmay be a little racy for a 33 year old but who the heck cares! It's fun and I love it...besides...it matches my favorite bright purple python pumps. Does it get anymore fun then that?!?!?!?!? hehehehehehehe
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
Congrats on your first official DD review Gigi! Great post! I love using purple hues on my hazel green eyes as well, and using good eyeshadow brushes are key.
Great review Champ. I have been listening to your advise for a while now via Megs mail and know that you know what you are talking about. I have been using this product off and on now for over a year and like the product. I do find it doesn't last long on me (dry skin, over 50) so I only use it when I need makeup for a short while (grocery shopping and other menial jobs). The colors work nice for me and I love the concept, just wish they lasted longer.

i love their brand
I love PP eye shadows, they last long time, you can find great deals at walgreens like BOGO.
I have had this for a while now. I love that it has a shimmer to it and that there are so many colors to pick from. I like to use the lightest color in the inner corner of my eyes when I am looking a little tired or going out somewhere. I found that without an eye shadow primer it doesn't last very long, but with it you're good!**This brand is often on sale at CVS for buy one get one free :)
I have one of these and I LOVE it. I love that there are so many colors in one little kit. That means a million ways for me to apply...ok, not actually a million but you get the point.

this is slightly more expensive for an eyeshadow palette at a drugstore, but there are a lot of colors and probably work better :D and cute packaging as well :P
Too much shimmer, not enough color. The color fades to brown by the end of the day, even if I have primer on.

I haven't tried that brand before B)
I love Physician's Formula. I don't have this palette, but I have enjoyed their baked shadows and some of their palettes from the mineral wear line.
i love this
Great palette for everyday looks and at a very good price!
